Ed - if the values etc are an issue for you why did you choose team England? - you had a choice to come to Italy and made a deliberate decision to stay there.
Stop crying like a girl who's just had her barbie doll decapitated, and man up.
there are loads of factors that make the game - not just starting squads, maybe spend a bit more time on team strategy and a little less time on crying

and don't forget the Italians have been dumped with me as captain, and I'm crap at the game, so it had to be balanced out somewhere;)

Alemannia Aachen outclassed Portsmouth and beat them 1 - 0 in their Division 3 fixture.
Foket scored the winner for Alemannia Aachen and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance
With Whitehawk losing and our win on the final day, it gives us the final playoff spot. Brilliant first season for a team that was very weak at the beginning . Now we face a tough challenge against Leeds in the opening playoff match .

Jamie, sorry mate but Nik has every right to bid what he wants. It's the game and if you don't like it you shouldn't be playing let alone complaining.
In a less downer note Bradford trashed Bristol Rovers 1-8 at the Memorial Stadium. Nice memories to come back with.

Daley Blind rejoins Ajax for £7.8 million - very happy with this signing as he will anchor our midfield.
Also joining will be Marcus Rojo, who will become our defensive leader from either centre back or at left back.
Two other notable signings are talented youngsters Marc-Oliver Kempf and Pierre Hojbjerg from the Bundesliga.
Still have 10 mil in the transfer kitty, so may wait till im able to sell some players, before bringing in anymore new recruits.

Ok then, using exactly the same format as above.
    Today the following 3 managers will learn which clubs are interested in them based on the following matches;
Matt Webb - Burnley v Everton
James Fearon - Spurs v Newcastle
Benjo Benjo - Man Utd v Chelsea
Please note - if there is a yellow card or goal on the minute of a team which is already managed, then you will simply move on to the next available minute. For example if it lands on Man Utd, as this is already managed, you will be offered the next available team which is Aston Villa.
If James is not happy with the clubs he is offered, he can use his second trigger on a different match (to be announced).
Jamie - your match will also be announced, more than likely tomorrow.
    Cheers

The Defence v Attack gameworld reporter caught up with Benfica manager Huddo and the Aussie gave us an insight into his thinking with the season kick-off just over a week away.....
Reporter: So Huddo are you happy with your squad at Benfica?
Huddo: I‘m delighted with the squad I have managed to assemble.....I have Ronaldo.....and......yeah did I mention Ronaldo.....
Reporter: What are your predictions for this season?
Huddo: Apart from Feyenoord to finish 9th Well I am hoping to avoid relegation. There are some quality managers in Div 1 so mid table would be a respectable finish. I’m looking forward to seeing who does better out of the Defence and Attack teams.
Reporter: Who do you rate as your best buy?
Huddo: Adam Lallana for 8.1 mil and Enzo Perez for 8.3 mil were good buys that I am sure will do well for us.
Reporter: I see that you have secured the services of Balotteli do you see that as a risky purchase?
Huddo: Mario is a great talent and I am sure he can provide some goals for us. I won’t be allowing any fireworks in his apartment though
Reporter: Well thanks for your time Huddo, just one final question being an Australian what qualities can you bring to Benfica fans?
Huddo: The Benfica fans can look forward to some entertaining soccer I mean football I better get going and throw another shrimp on the barbie and where is my bloody Foster's !!

The Basement Version II Player Of The Season
    Carlos Vela
    Real Sociedad

Golden boot winner Carlos Vela of Real Sociedad has been awarded the Player Of The Season award for season 1.
In 13 appearances the Mexican scored 8 goals, assisted a further 8 goals, collected 4 man of the match awards and averaged a rating of 7.85.
His hand in the 16 goals totalled for 55% of the clubs goals and was a big part in Real Sociedad winning the Division 1 title, eventually winning comfortably by 6 points.
The Basement Version II Goalkeeper Of The Season
    Claudio Bravo
    Aston Villa

Aston Villa's Claudio Bravo has been awarded the Keeper Of The Season award for season 1.
The Chilean no.1 made an immediate impact in his first season with the club, keeping a clean sheet in 5 of his 11 games, when you consider that amounts to a 45% clean sheet ratio it makes for impressive reading. Aston Villa conceded the joint least amount of goals in the division which has to be considered a major factor in the club finishing impressively in 2nd place.
The Basement Version II Manager Of The Season
    Simon Coxell
    Sunderland

Sunderland manager Simon Coxell has been awarded the Manager Of The Season award for season 1.
Mr Coxell had a remarkable season with Sunderland, steering the club to the Division 3 title in remarkable fashion on the last day of the season. Heading into the last game week league leaders Sevilla had a one point advantage but drew their last game, Sunderland won their last game, securing 1st place.
The club's success was very much a team effort, individually not many of the Sunderland players were top of the tree in terms of goals, assists (barring Giacherrini), man of the matches etc - but this emphasizes the job Coxell has done. Considered perennial underdogs, they soon started ripping that tag up. The most impressive thing about their season was they only conceded 10 goals in 16 league games - they say titles are won on defences and that has been proven right on this occasion.
The Basement Version II Team Of The Season
    Bravo (Aston Villa)
Martinez (Real Sociedad) - Westermann (Sevilla) - Luisao (Sunderland) - Blind (Ajax)
Calla (Basel) - Bruno (Ajax) - Barry (Ajax) - Van Der Vaart (Cruzeiro)
Vela (Real Sociedad) - Kalou (Lille)

Thanks guys, hopefully it won't be the only award I win in this setup
Bremen have almost concluded their transfer business, at the moment we have 22 players worth 195.7million with an average rating of 90
Additionally, we have won bids on Clint Dempsey (contested), and Darren Fletcher (uncontested) for a total of just under 15million.
Here's just a look at my 1st and 2nd squads....

    and this is the 2nd....

    Excited for the upcoming season

Celtic have won promotion to the 1st division

After a long hard fought season, Celtic, who were one of the favourites for relegation, did the impossible and pipped bookies favourites Hoffenheim to second spot and automatic promotion.

There were some stand out performers for Celtic, in the shape of Hugo Almeida and Kris Commons whom both scored 5 goals each and contributed to some assists also. But the signing of new goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya, proved to be the clubs player of the season with some memorable games and saves.

Re: TCO92 - Match Previews/Reports, Transfer News & General Nonsense.

A strong second half to the season, see's Walsall finish in 10th spot. A big achievement for a club with very little resources and also a very weak team to begin with. But with some strong performances against better clubs, it helped push us up the league. Considering we were in the bottom 5 for most of the first half of the season.

But in the end, it was our use of the transfer market that enabled us to do so well. By bringing in established players like Sessegnon and Wayne Routledge, and combining them with up and coming youth products like Timo Horn and JP Boetius.

    TEAM OF THE TURN
    TURN 4

    GK: Goryainov (Metalist)
The goalkeepers don't seem to be the strongest feature of this division, lots of goals despite few shots on target, or letting slip that one shot in the last minutes, we've seen it all. Fortunately, every week one man seems to get it together and step up. This week it was Metalist goalie Goryainov, who saved all 7 shots fired at him and saving a point for his side with that clean sheet.
    DR: Van Dijk (Celtic)
Off and on making it into the team of the turn, Celtic's Virgil van Dijk is displaying his full scale as a young defender. Struggeling one week, ace the other, common signs of a young player trying to find his ground. This week his team found themselves winning and taking over pole position in the league, let's see if Van Dijk can hold on to his recent performance in the next match.
    DC: Rodriguez (Boca Juniors)
First time one of the Boca players makes it into the team of the turn, which is a good reflection of their pale start of the season. A win against an also struggling Sampdoria side may have been just what they needed. This turn the team could depend on a solid defense, led by Argentinian veteran Rodriguez.
    DL: Salihovic (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim)
Close to making the cut several times before, Bosnian defender Salihovic finally makes it to the team of the turn. His side played a boring but effective game against former leaders Ajax, keeping the three points at home with a solid team performance.
    MC: Brown (Celtic)
Just like last week, Celtic midfielder Brown finds himself in the team of the turn after a great display from his side. Despite getting goals scored against, Celtic can rely on their goal scoring skills up front. Especially during games like this one, when even the midfielders start scoring (Brown netting his first of the season), they seem like an unbeatable side.
    MC: Commons (Celtic)
One of the less prominent Celtic players takes his share of the new leader's spotlight today, as winger Commons finds himself in the team of the turn. Again, despite the goals scored against, he as well did himself a good favor with his play this game. Cherry on the cake for Commons was his assist on the third goal, which in the end turned out to be much needed to take the three points.
    MC: Conca (Boca Juniors)
Matters briefly turned very dark for Boca, when they saw their 2-0 lead disappear into thin air after two very quick goals from opponent Sampdoria in only 3 minutes time. The Argentinian side saw their shameful loss being saved by midfielder, who scored the winning goal, and with one single shot found himself celebrating both the victory as well as his spot on the team of the turn.
    FR: Rodriguez (Boca Juniors)
Another turn where the league's top scores seems all eager to take the lead again. Good old Maxi Rodriguez opened the score for his side with a rush through the Sampdoria defence, finding the bottom corner with a well placed shot. Tho only his first goal in the league yet didn't put him in the top scoring lead, it did help his side to their much needed first win.
    Player of the turn

    FC: Almeida (Celtic)
Getting all too familiar with the team of the turn privileges, is Celtic main man Almeida. Scoring in every game he appeared, the veteran striker is steadily climbing up the top scorers list, and if his sides continues their road to victory, he might just find himself at the top of the player tables as well.. Scoring one goal and giving one assist, Almeida is the first player to take home the player of the turn trophy for the second time.
    FC: Szalai (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim)
Just like all other strikers in the team of the turn, the man with the snake-like name also was voted Man of the Match for his respectable performance this turn. Scoring the only goal for his side in the winning match against then ring leaders Ajax, he deserved it more than any other player on the field.
    FC: Olic (Celtic)
Also participating in the Celtic victory fest, was Croatian target man Olic. Coming from being 2-1 down, shortly after the equalizer he netted the winning goal. Unfortunate for opponent top scorer Toni, that one goal was worth more than the title in the individual player tables, because Olic as well might be having a go at the title in the end if Celtic keeps going like this.
    HONORABLE MENTIONS
    Vestergaard (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim)
With goals flying everywhere, a decent defensive performance should be rewarded. Unfortunately the team of the turn was so crowded with strikers, that some defenders had to be cut short.
    Toni (Sampdoria)
Equalizing the score twice, leading the top scorer table, and still losing. This wasn't Luca Toni's luckiest turn.
    Gigliotti (Boca Juniors)
In this goal scoring mayhem, some will just miss the boat. Scoring a goal and giving two assist just wasn't enough to play with the big boys this week.
