  1. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread Well this season has not gone as well as I expected.
  2. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread Krul is the major signing for me. Coloccini is very important too but the vultures would have been circling and Krul only had two years left on his deal. I have seen many stories linking Krul with Spurs but now NUFC hold all the cards and can ask for whatever they want (hopefully pricing Spurs out of a move). Goalkeepers are also harder to replace. Harper is now 37 and I'm not sure about Elliott. Has anyone even seen him play?
  3. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread I'm getting worried about this game. I am worried before every derby game but Sunderland are playing well now and Steve Bruce isn't around to give us three points.
  4. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread Norwich were knocked out of the FA cup by Leicester yesterday so the home game against them is now going to be played on the 17th of March.
  5. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread I have missed most of this conversation but I will have to catch up on this later. It is always interesting to hear what other fans and neutrals think of what is going on.
  6. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread Same as a normal league game but obviously there would not be as much demand unless it was a really big game. Would you be coming for over that match if it is a cup game?
  7. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread I think tickets for Norwich would probably go to general sale and you would be able to pick one up that way if you go to the tickets website. It won't be moved for TV but I think the FA Cup games of that round may be on that weekend so you will just have to wait and see unfortunately. Also, I was at the Fulham game and I have never been more confident of three points at a football match. HOW WRONG WAS I!
  8. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread The news of that clause in Ba's contract is because his agent will be trying to get him more money (whether it be here or by moving somewhere else). The only thing I have to say about Redknapp is what are you doing? After what Spurs said about Chelsea and Modric in the summer he is the last person to be talking about other teams players and this kind of thing in their contract. He was asked the question about Ba but he didn't need to mention any of this stuff. Redknapp has done it for years but still gets way with it.
  9. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread I remember when Neil Taylor from Swansea was supposed to be coming to Newcastle after a bid of £1m was made which met a clause in his contract but Swansea rejected the offer. I can't remember exactly what they said about why it wasn't a release clause but perhaps Swanseajack will know.
  10. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread Pardew has said he won't be able to play the same team on Saturday so expect changes. Ba and Tiote are going to the African Cup of Nations but I think Cabaye and Coloccini will be rested. I think it will be something like this: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Perch, R.Taylor, Obertan, Gosling, Vuckic, Jonas, Ben Arfa, Best.
  11. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread If Alan Smith plays then it is game over. If Coloccini is back then I would keep Danny Simpson at centre half with R.Taylor and Santon at full back. Simpson was better than Perch at centre half against Norwich and I think it will be more organised if Colo is indeed fit to return. I read Tiote could be back for this game too. Fingers crossed!
  12. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread People will say that but Jonas was missing yesterday and he has helped out Ryan Taylor immensely this season. Until the last few games Taylor deserved to play but maybe it would be time to bring in Santon. I'm not not bothered about the defeat but the injuries are quite annoying. Tiote, Coloccini and S.Taylor being out is a cruel blow but hopefully it stops Ashley from thinking he can cash in and the squad will do alright without them. Even better if he brings in some players to cover for them but I can't see it. The next three games are winnable so I will see how they go but I think Norwich will be the toughest of them next week. I said "well that is game over" to my friend sitting next to me when he came on. He actually did quite well considering how useless he normally is.
  13. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread There is a page of tributes to Speed on the BBC but one of the most moving is Robbie Savage being interviewed. He was saying that there was nothing to suggest anything was wrong and he was speaking to Speed yesterday and they were laughing and joking about Savage getting low scores on Strictly Come Dancing. Savage is in tears by the end of it and can't even bring himself to say anything because he is so upset. I have never seen that side of him before. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15908380.stm
  14. Re: Official Newcastle Utd thread A few papers are reporting he took his own life and was found at his home this morning. It hits home more because you wonder what he must have been going through to feel that was the only way out for him.
