  1. Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread In that game against Sporting, Sporting hardly had a shot on goal. Totally outplayed. How can a backline possibly look 'amateur' when the opposition hardly had a sniff? Alex Sandro actually had one of his better games. Danilo was just regular. Certainly no one looked amateur when you're having 70% possession. Danilo is superior to Carvajal defensively. That's about it. Carvajal has more of a burst offensively, faster, more direct but he has low iq. Danilo is just overall very solid. Offensively he needs to improve because he tends to drift inside too much when he should play more down the line. How is Danilo not suited for Man Utd? He is PERFECTLY suited for Man Utd. Danilo actually used to play centre midfield before. He'd be a perfect wing back. He is a good defender, good technically and has great stamina. Danilo is definitely one of the best right backs around. "Anyone who has watched him play" should know that. First thing: there are not that many top right backs - I invite whoever doesn't find him "one of the best around" to actually, you know, say who are those 'best around'. Hopefully it's not a bunch of names that only have reputation. For instance, it'd be a joke to mention a guy like Daniel Alves. He is also better than Zabaleta. I've watched every game Danilo has played for Porto and I actually have never really been a big fan of his(especially because he cost a ton of money originally). He has evolved though and began to justify what was paid for him - I still disagree on buying a right back for that amount of money though. Now... if "anyone" actually follows Porto, they know that he has been very very consistent, has shown great leadership skills, which have made him a fan favourite and club captain behind Jackson. I've always felt Alex Sandro has more potential than Danilo. He has everything to be a perfect left back, but he doesn't have the same working ethic as Danilo. Way more relaxed and lackadaisical. With years going bye. Danilo improving, while Alex Sandro still shows inconsistent effort. The safe bet is Danilo because he'll give you 100% solid performance. Alex Sandro will show greatness and then mediocrity.

    "33K"

Re: "33K" Dramatic end to the league. Hull City, with nothing to play for, show their professionalism against Atalanta, playing a hard fought match that ended in a draw. Melbourne Victory, needing to win away against a tough Southampton team, go down 2-0 inside the first 17 minutes. Sanchez scores on the 21st to restore hope. Only to see Debuchy sent off on the 23rd minute and all but ending their title aspirations. It was then, when again Pirlo enhanced his legendary status, by gathered his troops around him and inspiring them to fight until their last drop of blood. And for the final 70 minutes, with a man down, and against a top team, Victory dominated the match and scored twice to win the match 3-2 and bring the first ever league title to Australia. A heroes welcome awaits them at Melbourne's airport.
  3. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Mangala over Blind easily. Blind is incredibly average with very little upside. Mangala is very error prone but has great potential and plays for a better team. Even if Mangala doesn't pan out, you're not risking much, I find it hard to imagine a Man Utd side challenging for titles with a player like Blind being a starter. He is nothing more than a stop gap at a few different positions.
  4. Re: -||Eredivisie Ratings II - 12/13 Winter Predictions Up! - by BRNL||- "They could beat Portugal 9 out of 10 times". Yet they lost both matches to Portugal. And they lost to Georgia and Slovakia before. Portugal won (easily) all 8 games in the group stage and now easily beat Holland. 10 wins out of 10. Portugal were miles better than Holland and Portugal were missing a few key players from their team. They started a 17 year old in both matches! I mean, if anyone watched the games, they had to laugh at the brand of football that Holland played. So incredibly bad at the back and then in the second leg, just throwing the ball up to to some 1,97m guy. Primitive football. Holland youth players are incredibly overrated. It's because on one hand Holland have had great teams in the past and people always picture every new player as a the next big thing. On the other, most play a lot in the Eredivisie and do some nice things I suppose. But the league is so weak. It allows them to play, but the level isn't very high(you just have to see how well they do in Europe). You better wake up and realise that Holland aren't that great. And hey, I have no idea if you're Dutch, but if you are, then that arrogance "beat 9 out 10", is a good explanation to why Holland always lose to Portugal. You could beat them 9 ou 10, but you end up losing 10 out of 10 it seems. I bet they always come to the games expecting to win... and yet they lose. This doesn't mean I think Portugal are all that great. They aren't. But they surely are better than Holland. It's just that the marketing of Holland youth players is better than the Portuguese ones. Even if players are sold out of the Portuguese league for 5 times more money than from the Eredivisie.
  5. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Carvajal is a beast. Don't trade him.
  6. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Diego Costa or Reus?
  7. Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread In real life he is not very good. Just very average but usually reliable in league matches. He was at fault for both goals against Zenit and overall just feels like a stop gag at the position, so again I wouldn't want to own him, very little upside. But considering the status of the club and since he is starting he probably does deserve to rise. The one player to get is João Mário from Sporting. Finally he is starting(pathetic how long André Martins was ahead of him). Has all the talent to be a top player and should be in the Portuguese NT now. Paulo Oliveira will start this weekend.
  8. Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread Chances are (very) high. Not because of Paulo Oliveira. But because Naby Sarr is horrible. It is bizarre that Oliveira hasn't been given a chance yet considering how poor the French guy is - and this was obvious several weeks back. He is so slow and poor technically. Oliveira struggled in the pre-season and that is why he lost his place to begin with. But I doubt he would look as bad as Sarr. I expect Oliveira to start the next game. If he doesn't' date=' then Marco Silva has really lost his mind. Everyone sees that Sarr is awful now and the guy is a calamity waiting to happen. Jefferson was sent off. Silva came on the next game and they won 4-0 in a very important game after a bad run of results. Surprisingly he kept his starting place. He played against Porto and Chelsea and did ok. He is very very aggressive, bombs forward and seems to make good crosses. From what I've seen, I don't think he has been that much of an upgrade over Jefferson, especially defensively where he clearly is still learning - he has been caught too many times with players running on his back. Jefferson was also good going forward and is a very good crosser. He just wasn't as energetic as Silva has been. Competition is close, but Silva is likely to keep his place considering he hasn't done too bad these three games he played. Whether he starts the rest of the way or not, Silva looks like a good prospect and will likely mean that Jefferson will be sold in the next few months.
  9. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Morata is absolutely terrible. The guy doesn't know what to do on the pitch(yet at least...). He runs like a headless chicken, tries to do some fancy step overs like Ronaldo, but is unable to. The only thing he provides is someone who runs about and creates a bit of chaos, because he is so far from being polished, it's not even funny. You look at how smooth Jese is and how Morata is all over the place and you'll know who is the talented one and who is the likeliest one to be playing for Getafe in two years. Alcacer on the other hand is just one of those strikers that just sniffs goals. Unspectacular, not the best physically or technically, but effective in his movement and with a good brain. Can't believe people say it's close or Morata is better.
