  1. Riferimento: Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Absolute legend of the setup leaving here, I dont think many people will realise the levels of commmitment and professionalism that Red had. One of the first to join the setup when it started and also had the huge achievement of winning the league with blackburn. All the best.
  2. Riferimento: Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Welcome back lighweight! Are you sure your going to be able to hack it this time or maybe you'll need another break? :) Love you really Sean
  3. Riferimento: Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread If I ever see estonia on that ratings schedule, I'll probably think my computer is broken. I think its 2 years or 3 years, they were last reviewed in a summer a few season back along with ireland. They may as well get rid of estonia there so out of date . . .
  4. Riferimento: Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Well played Yap, my first game in div1 and not an easy one! Mata and Quag still injured however so we'll see how the season goes in a few games! got 10mill and Eremenko (88) floating about and several russian (ahmedov, burlak) and goalkeeping talents (kraft, delac) if people are interested in doing any deals.

  6. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread :) :) Shorpe United 2: 2 Blackburn Rovers Shorpe United win 5-4 on penalties! So after 6 seasons in the setup, finally done it Shorpe have reached the promised land! Very happy to have joined the club of 4 managers that have made it from div4 to div1 in 106. (Not sure who has done it in other forum setups, probs quite a few in ec1). The others being flounders (Darlington), Sean (Crewe) and Chewett (Tranmere)! Very unlucky to Red who was winning the game up until the 82nd minute and penalties is very harsh on his quality team. Commiserations and all the best for next season.

  8. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread 1-0 victory over QPR, very unlucky david! Commiserations. Got 4 injuries now though for the final.

  10. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread agreed clubhopping is against the spirit of the game. However short term loans are not under the grubby umbrella' date=' which is what this argument is all about. I would say, and as stated before, they are in the spirit of it! Many a time they find a loophole, eg double diffuser or blown exhaust or the car that sucked itself to the floor, that can be seen as unethical by some, (the previous two were later banned very quickly, although the teams faced no ethical backlash for exploiting the rules). It was just an example showing all these cases of sportmanship need case by case judgement. This is the main point, you say its nick picking, but it isnt really the fact is any loan can give an advantage so whats the difference? EDIT: I hope edmoses is flippin happy!
  11. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Im against the win at all costs principle also. I am against pushing the rules in an unsportmanly fashion. However I am for gaining advantages in games (within the rules and being sporting and safe etc). Its the whole point! This is why I dont like clubhopping etc. (clubhopping isnt in the rules but is unsporting) However I am for f1 teams finding aerodynamic loopholes etc as that is part of the sport there. However the loans are not unsporting as stated before and what me and daz have been arguing about for several pages now . . . whats the difference between them and normal loans?
  12. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread I know you are Dave!! I just dont understand what the mods have against you! Also just had a cheeky peek for 2 minutes at the end of the first main season in 106' date=' page 120 odd on main thread and some interesting posts! Loaning was encouraged by some very respected managers back then but seems still Dave was having none of it then either which is impressively consistent!

  14. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Oh hi dave, long time no speak, hows it going? sorry been ignoring the rest of the thread! nah I was talking about the southern one!
  15. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Yep much as it pains me too say it I do also quite like Dave really;). (Shame your stuck in the 1800s.) Good to see something happening on the thread at least even if it is mostly ranting by me and dave!
  16. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Right after a few edits, im probably against these, very interesting though and needs further thought! The use of loans however is a separate issue as it isnt unsporting and widely practiced unlike the above examples.
  17. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Avoiding mine and daz's point a bit here I feel, I was trying to argue that if you allow half season loans then why not quarter season or 2 weeks and so on (slippery slope argument). Seems a bit odd to not allow them at a certain point if they are too short term. Yes i would still loan them. If he also stated he wasn't going to make any transfers, I would still continue to make my own transfers.
  18. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread playoffs were always a certainty (jk, very lucky to be there actually!). how many weeks is the acceptable loan length dave? I need to know so that I dont fall into these murky waters again!
  19. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread I committed at the start of the season to pay these extra wages in the playoffs as well, (iv put aside money for it). But it isnt somewhat mercenary use of other peoples resources to bolster my team over half a season with loans? surely its worse over half a season?
  20. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Agreeing with daz here it seems that for some people a long term loan is ok maybe a half season loan is ok but not a 2 game loan? why the all of a sudden change Dave when it becomes short term, how many weeks must we loan a player for according to yourself for it to be acceptable?
  21. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Continental ha! still paying his wages at the same per game rate so its the same situation.
  22. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread yeah well put. (that demenita kicking in again? ) it probably comes down to what we accept as the spirit of the game. Longterm you would probably hope for a spirit that was of the most benfit to everyone (unless we have a god to tell our morals for us! which would make things a lot easier now, what does the bible say concerning loans for playoffs on sm? im sure it was in Paul 6 somewhere!) getting a bit sidetracked there into philosophical ethics! but I think if everyone agreed loans in the playoffs were allowed then that wouldnt be a problem as everyone has the same advantage and level playing field and there would be no "injury to the game itself". Club hopping for example however even if we all accepted it would still cause injury. Also any argument you have against loans in the playoffs apply for loans throughout the season as well and I dont see anybody against them? Just imagine the playoffs as a new very short season! EDIT: watch us get knocked out in the semis now anyways!
  23. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Hi dave Thanks for your condescending judgment, you for one know im the first to complain when anyone goes back on a deal or club hops or any dodgy behaviour but Im not standing for taking comments from well respected forumers as an immoral and unfair manager here unless people backup there resentment with proper reasons!! (to be fair i think edmoses summed it up pretty well in his last post, either you believe in it or not) Or are you just trying to wind me up Dave (if so you succeeded!)
