  1. Re: DAiS Genesis | Media Fraser McInnes, Celtic supremo and multi talented individual, was still unavailable for comment last night after his division favourites shock loss in Northern Spain. This was mainly due to the fact that the police in Glasgow's east end would not allow any cell based interviews by the local press. After watching his sides demolition in Spain, McInnes was reported to have managed to plough through 3x bottles of Highland Park, 2x Taliskers and finished on an always smooth bottle of Dalwhinnie. No doubt this had an impact on the devastation he caused in the family home on his return. Hence his incarceration. No damage to her indoors (she's a bit too butch for him) but Henrik (the family cat) is recovering well after having 7 shades of s**t kicked out of him. Assurances have been made by the local law enforcement that McInnes has returned to sobriety and will be released later today to mastermind his first victory of the season against West Bromwich Albion (we think)...
  2. Re: DAiS Genesis | Media Celtic 1-1 Cardiff City Honours even in Glasgow as, in an astonishing act of clemency, Celtic's manager keeps his star man on the bench for the curtain raiser. Asked why he kept Hazard off the pitch McInnes replied, The best thing in the match was, of course, De Jong's free kick. An absolute peach but that was bettered by the pre-game warm up where McInnes and Smout took to the field for a kick around only for Smout to end up having to chase the Glasgow mans shadow whilst McInnes took great pleasure in performing meg after meg to shouts of TUUNNEELLLLL from the partisan crowd. Next up is an away trip to Leigh Auston's Depor. Asked on his thoughts regarding this forthcoming encounter McInnes replied, When asked if Hazard could make his first start of the season the Celtic manager replied,
  3. Re: DAiS Invitational Hah! Don't worry about me. I've given him so much abuse over the years its like water off a ducks back to him now. But coming from someone new would be sure to get his juicies flowing...
  4. Re: DAiS Invitational Can I just say that for anyone looking to secure a place in this new setup here's the best way to go about it. Give the creator abuse non stop. That's right. Dai loves it. He positively feeds off it. He's like a human version of the dung beetle. Go on. Give it a try.
  5. Re: Brigadoon!! Match Reports,Transfers,Banter Etc! Yeah. Now I'm concerned I'll go the rest of the season without another 3pts! Still need a few victories to try to pull myself to safety.
  6. Re: Brigadoon!! Match Reports,Transfers,Banter Etc! Falkirk v Greenock Morton Falkirk, fighting for their lives welcome high flying Morton in another must win match for both sides. Morton find themselves 6 points off the pace at the top while the home side find themselves 1 point from safety. the Bairns have shown the better form in the last 6 weeks and are looking good in their bid for survival but Morton have the league's top scorer in their ranks and Troy Deeney is looking good to score the goals his side need to keep the pressure on United............prediction 2-2 We're going for the safety first option of kicking the other team off the park. Sorry Sean, it's the Scottish way when the chips are down and we're up against it.
  7. Re: DAiS Invitational Nice to see Sky Blue and Sam involved in this. Pity it wasn't tag team. They'd make a great pair. All we need now is Bobo. I've asked the captain of The Arcadia if we could postpone sailing until the setup got off the ground. He told me to f off. I'll post my idea about a blind pre-season ballot on FB before I cruise and see how many are interested in it. And Mr Smout, Milky Way's are for geeks. I eat foamy pink shrimps ok?!?
  8. Re: DAiS Invitational Thank God...
  9. Re: DAiS Invitational Don't use the dreaded 'D' word mate! I made that mistake already. It's a secret ballot for 1 star player. It could even be a pre-season event at the start of every season.
  10. Re: DAiS Invitational One other thing, I'm going on a 17 day cruise around the Med, leaving on 31st July and returning on the 16th August. Any chance we can hold off until I return before opening the setup...?
  11. Re: DAiS Invitational I'm all for starting with a mid level team rather than one of the elite clubs. I don't really want to start with a low (mid 70's) team as this may put people off the structure and turn it into another league with a distinctive advantage to people who are better at scouting talents (be they well known or obscure) Maybe a mid 80's team, such as say Liverpool (Mr S. ) might be the way to go. But to give everyone a starting boost we would all be allowed to sign 1 star player without interference (i.e. others bidding) The sting in the tail would be we would all have to ballot secretly for the player we wanted. If any people chose the same player that player would be inadmissable for the purposes of the ballot. If you choose a player that no one else has chosen then you buy him for minimum cash value. You get 3 chances (attempts) and if you fail each time then you end up with no starting boost. The players chosen would remain secret until all 3 rounds had been completed. e.g. Dai's first attempt he chooses Steven Gerrard I choose Steven Gerrard Bunder chooses Robin Van Persie Bunder would get RVP for lowest cash value Dai and I would have to make another attempt Dai chooses Pepe Reina I choose RVP Dai gets Reina but I have to choose again as I didn't know Bunder had selected RVP in the first rd. my final attempt I choose Reina. I lose out again and have exhausted my chances of getting a starting boost of a cheap star player.
  12. Re: DAiS Invitational I'm Scottish and live in England. By those standards I can mock anyone!
  13. Re: DAiS Invitational Couple of things ---- Nobody told me Herby was in this?! The lovebug has caused me a lot of pain in the past (I think he cheats but have no proof as yet due to his slyness and underhandedness...) And he's an Aussie who roots for Germany! What's that all about...? Due to the setup managers fondness of leaks will he be taking on the vacant post at Bangor City...?
  14. Re: Available GC Teams (This is NOT a Discussion Thread) Just about to reject Werder Bremen in forum laden GC19. Julio Cesar, Nuri Sahin and Antonio Cassano are the big names in the squad. Only £6.6m in the bank
  15. Re: Iniesta - 98? I am more of aware of this. I don't need caps lock statements thanks. I could quite happily reply to the other guys comments on the two above mentioned players but he is obviously blinkered by a Barca/Messi crush/support so it would serve no end. As for Iniesta, as I mentioned a page or so ago, I would like to see how he performs for a different team with a different style of play in a different league but this wont happen as he wouldn't leave Barcelona. And why should he. Is he worth a 98? I'm not certain on that. There's no denying he is a world class midfielder and has added to his glowing reputation by winning player of the tournament at the Euro's. Still thought Pirlo was very close to pipping him to it but after Spain's victory in the final it could only go to a Spanish player. Stat based calculations state it should have gone to Sergio Ramos but stats don't tell the whole story.
  16. Re: Available GC Teams (This is NOT a Discussion Thread) Just about to reject a Borussia Dortmund in 128. Not a lot of cash in the bank and not a full Dortmund side but still has - Schmelzer Bender Gotze Kagawa and Grosskreutz and is also suplemented by players such as Ganso Bagfrede and Rausch Get in touch with Atletico Madrid if you're looking to deal
  17. Re: Iniesta - 98? I doubt it will ever happen but I'd be interested to see how Iniesta fared playing for a different team in a different league with a different style. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing Iniesta, after all why would he want to leave Barca in the first place but I think Ronaldo is getting a little bit of a raw deal here. Now I'm no Ronaldo fanboy but this is a player who has done it, and done it well for three different clubs in three different countries. Granted, there are similarities between Portugal and Spain in terms of culture and style of football but he succeeded big time in England. Would Iniesta succeed in the Premiership if he ever moved there? I dare say he would but would he make as big an impact as Ronaldo did in his time there? That's debateable.
  18. Re: Gold Championship 109: Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread Early Season Report Hibernian Captain Random has his Hibees flying high. Brest DM Oscar Ewolo has been the surprise standout performer so far, ably backed up by the clubs superstar - Shinji Kagawa. The defence has been superbly marshalled by David Abraham. Not a huge deal happening on the transfer front other than the arrival of Twente striker Glynor Plet. Although he did make one heck of a debut scoring once and setting up 3 in the 6-0 rout of Dunfermline. A tricky away tie to Kirkaldy and George's Raith awaits tonight. Queen of the South Front men are doing the damage for the Doonhammers with both Papiss Cisse and Moussa Dembele shining brightest with 5 goals each so far in the first 8 league matches. No major transfer activity to speak of but a mouth watering match to look forward to tonight as they host 3rd placed Dundee. Dundee The current top scorers in the league have been spreading the goals around with Schurrle, Soldado, Reyes and Mikhatryian all getting amongst the goals but the clubs current top goalscorer is Bruno Cesar with 4 strikes so far. The back line is being led well by Rubin CB Cesar Navas. No incomings or outgoings in the squad. Big match tonight as mentioned above with the long drive down to Dumfries to face QofS. St.Johnstone Rotation is the name of the game for the Perth men as they battle on 3 fronts (League, Domestic Cup, SMFA Shield) but, just like last season, Salihovic is an integral part of the team once again. Almeida is hitting the net regularly and Stefan Radu(Lazio) provides the class and ability at the back. Only 1 transfer since the season officially started with Pinzi moving on for a cool £10mill to Rangers. Last seasons runners up will play host to the defending champions in tonights league encounter. Aberdeen Once again that word rotation bears heavily this time over Scotland's SMFA Champions League entrant. 2 victories from 2 so far in a league that includes Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen and Dnipro is a good return but domestic league form has been a little patchy lately. Nicolas Gaitan is top scorer so far with 4 in 6 games. Ramirez has also been in good form while Brazilian international Dede is the main man at the back. Jan Vertonghen has arrived from Ajax to bolster the back line with Payet, Otamendi + cash heading to Amsterdam. Rennes GK Costil has also been recruited and promptly sent on loan to Depor for the season. Young Dutch int'l CM Strootman has moved to the sunnier climes of Brazil and Santos in a swap deal that sees Iturbe and Junior Paulinho moving to the granite city. The back balance was further increased with Brazilian Neuton moving to Internazionale for £10mill, representing a £6mill profit. Busy, busy, busy up north. League matters see the defending champs head to St.Johnstone knowing a draw or a defeat would continue their current winless run to 5 matches in all competitions. Raith Rovers Experienced defender Salvatore Aronica has been Raith's best player so far. The attacking edge is being supplied by Lobos, Didier Ya Konan and Semih Senturk. One big transfer in with Juan Albin arriving from Malaga. However, he wont be available for tonights match at home to current leaders Hibs as he's currently out with a foot injury. Celtic A shaky start so far for the Hoops with goals especially being hard to come by. Yarmolenko is providing plenty of ammunition but it comes as no surprise to see Sanchez, Brown and McGeady being the better performers so far. Celtic have been busy strengthening their squad at the start of this season with no less than 7 new arrivals including Braga's Ewerton, Osasuna GK Fernandez Andres and Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic to name but a few. Some of the transfers have no doubt been financed by the sale of Ibisevic to Portsmouth for a whopping £18.5mill. A chance for an easy 3pts tonight in a league where points don't come easy as Celtic travel to the only unmanaged team in the league - Dunfermline. Partick Thistle The Jags usually make a flying start and falter down the home straight but it's anything but the sort this season with only 7 points collected from the first 8 matches. Riquelme continues to roll back the years and has been in sparkling form but he can't do it all on his own. More will be expected of front runners Lima and Abdellaoue. Bad boy Joey Barton has left the club and Ukranian international LB Yevhen Selin is the only significant signing so far this season. It may be too early to start talking about relegation but 8th play 9th tonight in an already important basement battle. Kilmarnock Tough going for Killie so far in their return to the top flight. More will be needed from Sandro and Feret. Can the loanees Stoch, Ayew and De Vrij bed in quickly and help the team turns things round after a shaky start...? Mike has been splashing the cash as he re-models the team with Denys Oliynyk, Simone Padoin and premiership regulars Jonathan Walters, Grant Holt and Ali Al Habsi all arriving to bulk up the squad. As mentioned above, a big match tonight at Rugby Park. A win will propel Killie above Thistle and may kick start a winning run for the Ayrshire men. So the games have well and truly begun... ... may the odds be ever in your favour... (p.s. - I'll try to recap the start to the 2nd div later today)
  19. Re: Brigadoon!! Match Reports,Transfers,Banter Etc! I completely agree that he didn't have much of an impact with Barca in his first season but 40 first team appearances and 15 goals (not sure on his assists but I'm sure there would have been more than a few) made him an integral part of their 2006 season. I suppose I was trying to say that, as far as Henrik was concerned, he didn't feel bad about not having a prolonged crack at a top league. He did have a very strong international career for Sweden as well so I don't think he retired from the game with too many regrets.
  20. Re: Gold Championship 109: Match Report/Transfer Gossip Thread Finally off and running in GC109 with a hard fought victory over Stifler's St.Johnstone. He usually has the upper hand on me in 109 so I was hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Nice to get off the mark after starting off with 2 straight defeats. Not much in the way of signings. I have been sniffing around a few recent sales that have gone through for other teams but the prices were a bit too rich for my liking. Got Dunfermline away next. It's imperative to take all 3 points against the unmanaged team in this league.
