  1. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread A great performance tonight. Anelka and Lampard looked great and hopefully this kick starts Lampard's season. Did anyone else notice that no one pressured Lampard? He always had a nice pocket of space around him where as he normally has 2 on 1 coverage. I don't know what they were thinking allowing Lampard time but they ended up paying for it. Nice to see Zhirkov and Sturidge get some time. Advancement is as good as guaranteed and Drogba's suspension is over. With Liverpool and Barcelona losing this week things are just perfect. (I know Barcelona will advance but having them lose at home to such weak opposition is always a good thing) On a side note there is a good chance Liverpool will not be advancing. If that is the case then my season will be complete.
  2. Re: Official Sunderland Thread I'm not a Sunderland supporter but I will say that they have an amazing side this year. Bent and Jones are on fire in front and I would be shocked if they didn't make it to Europe.
  3. Re: Post your 10K Star Keep them coming
  4. Re: Landon Donovan. That I will agree with. In a less physical league I imagine he would be decent. To the above poster, your trying to Americanize football and that just isn't right. Teams shouldn't have equal success every year, progress should be based on development of players and scouting. Not draft picks and salary caps. I agree that Arab and Russian money is ruining the transfer market, just because my team benefits from it does not mean I am going to be biased. The truth is football is not an American sport, it shouldn't be played that way and the fact that the MLS refuses to change makes it an inferior league. Progress is being made and the change is in the right direction but as of now it is not enough. You say the MLS makes money and your right, all profit is shared between the clubs but that does not hold any club accountable and just allows weaker sides to use draft picks and make money off of financially sound clubs. Take a look at other leagues, the EPL for example. Manchester United is in massive debt and there bubble will eventually burst but there are other teams that due to being run intelligently are turning a profit and are still successful. A league shouldn't have control over anything. If clubs can't afford there players salaries maybe they should pay the players less. I understand that multiple owners and profit sharing were needed but the league should turn away from all that and let these clubs sink or swim on there own. If a club is doing horrible so what, they get a first round draft pick next season and can pick up a star instead of having to scout the world looking for rising talent and luring them to there club. American regulations work for American sports. Football is not and will not ever be American do in part to people like you. The structure in place works fine, changing it because "you can't play in new york in winter" is just stupid.
  5. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread Disgusting... Thankfully Liverpool lost too.
  6. Re: Landon Donovan. I am an American from Los Angeles so for a change I actually know what I am talking about. Landon Donovan is horrible and will never make it anywhere but the MLS. He is small, weak on the ball, and his "pace" just won't cut it anywhere else. Harsh I know, and all you Landon Donovan supporters are going to hate me but its true. He is successful in the MLS because of the weak defense, poor fitness, and lack of skill other MLS teams posses. Also the MLS is run horribly. Saying that it is one of the best run leagues in the world is blasphemy. Never mind the schedule differences and the fact that four teams are owned by the same guy the MLS actually owns the contracts of every player. No team in the MLS owns any player, all contracts are signed with the MLS themselves who then send the player to a team. For example the Columbus Crew my transfer a player to the Kansas City Wizards but in actuality both teams are owned by Hunt Sports who is a major investor in the MLS. Since the MLS owns all player contracts and Hunt Sports holds significant sway over the MLS its no surprise Columbus Crew has a successful team. Los Angeles has huge marketing potential, and it also happens to have the two highest profile players in the MLS in Landon Donovan and David Beckham, that is no coincidence. The league is a joke....
  7. Re: Best Current English Player I'd have to say Lampard is far more consistent then Gerrard, and in my mind a better player. But that is off topic since Rooney is the best English player. You can get rid of Lampard or Gerrard and the other can fill in the gap but no one can replace Wayne Rooney. Also how can anyone rate Rio Ferdinand higher then John Terry? John doesn't make the simple mistakes Rio does and he sacrifices for club and country week in and week out. And did you ever think that the reason the English team plays Gerrard out of position so Lampard can play correctly is because they know he is a better player?
  8. Re: Rising 88 G.K. I second that, repped (Jinky7)
  9. Re: Sochaux & US National Charlie Davies Injured in Fatal Car Crash - Car Split in That is horrible... Glad to hear the man pulled through, after going through something like that his carrier should be the last thing anyone thinks of.
  10. Re: Who is going to win the league? Even during the African cup we have Cech Bosingwa, Terry, Carvahlo, A. Cole Alex J. Cole, Lampard, Ballack, Malouda Anelka Not to mention Sturidge, Borini, and Belletti. Anyone who says this starting 11 can't beat the likes of Hull, Sunderland, Birmingham, Burnley is lying to themselves.
  11. Re: Will Liverpool go through the Group Stage of the champions league? Liverpool to get through easily, knock out a Spanish or Italian side then get beat by Chelsea.
  12. Re: Who is going to win the league? People go on and on about Chelsea losing players for the African cup but we play Hull City, Sunderland, Birmingham City and Burnley. Chelsea to win the tittle.
  13. Disclaimer: I do not know how the rating system works on SM and as such I cannot and will not predict rating increases on players I report on, I leave that up to someone more qualified then I am. Hopefully someone who knows what they are doing can take the statistics I post and figure out if the player will rise or not. I am just trying to give back what little I can to a part of the forum that has made my time on soccer manager easy and enjoyable. Also I do not follow Bosnian football and have no personal insight on this player other then what can be found on the internet and what is provided to me by my Bosnian buddy Backy who should be given credit for this. Toni Sunjic Toni Sunjic is a 20 year old Bosnian defender currently playing for NK Zrinjski Mostar. Toni graduated from Zrinjski's youth system and has been playing for the first team the last two years. Toni failed to cement his place in the starting 11 in 2008 but did make four appearances for Zrinjski in there UEFA cup qualifications, playing 90 minutes in every game and scoring one goal. His performance catapulted him into the first team and from the start of the 2009 season he has featured in every minute of every game Zrinjski has played. Nine league matches and two Champions league qualification games have given him an impressive 990 minutes on the field this season. Along with his success came international call ups, since 2008 he has played in every Bosnian U21 match including there qualifier against Luxemburg. 1170 minutes played, 0 goals, 0 assists HSK Zrinjski Mostar 0 - 2 NK Zvijezda Gradacac (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 3 - 3 NK Travnik (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 0 - 0 FK Slavija Sarajevo (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 1 - 1 FK Zeljeznicar Sarajevo (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 3 - 1 FK Rudar Prijedor (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 0 - 3 FK Borac Banja Luka (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 2 - 0 FK Sloboda Tuzla (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 2 - 1 FK Modrica Maxima (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 2 - 1 FK Velez Mostar (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 1 - 0 Slovan Bratislava (90 minutes) HSK Zrinjski Mostar 0 - 4 Slovan Bratislava (90 minutes) Bosnien-Herzegowina U21 0 - 2 Slowenien U21 (90 minutes) Bosnien-Herzegowina U21 0 - 1 Luxemburg U21 (90 minutes) SM Info Real Club: HŠK Zrinjski Age: 20 Date of Birth: 15 December 1988 Nationality: Bosnian Position: Defender (Def) Preferred Foot: Right Rating: 78
  14. Re: Gold Championship 67 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Hull City AFC Hull City 1 - 0 Portsmouth Deiberson Geovanni (49) Coming off a defeat at Reebok Stadium Brendan looked to get his first win of the season at the expense of Liam Lindsay's Portsmouth. Reshuffling his starting eleven and organizing them into a more attack oriented formation did the trick as Hull took all three points at KC Stadium. After a dull first half an unmarked Geovanni broke the dead lock in the 49th minute with a cracker that saw Portsmouth tender David James cemented in place and that was all the game had to offer. An outstanding performance by star defender Michael Turner lead to him being announced man of the match for the first time this season. Still bottom of the table after seventeen games Hull will need to continue to preform at this level if they want to stay in the top flight.
  15. Re: Who is going to play for Chelsea when the african cup of nations is on? Your right about the ban but the fact that he didn't really go after anyone this summer made it seem like he was okay with the team as is and yea... if Drogba or Essien get hurt then we are in trouble.
  16. Re: Who is going to play for Chelsea when the african cup of nations is on? Drogba will be missed more then Essien. Without Drogba we have no real attack, Anelka lacks the ability to finish and never plays well when it counts. Essien is a vital part of our team but without him we still have one of the strongest mid fields in the league, especially with Joe Cole coming back. Joe Cole will step up and Lampard will carry us through any tough times. Chelsea will be fine. Cech Bosingwa, Terry, Carvahlo, A. Cole Alex J. Cole, Lampard, Ballack, Malouda Anelka
  17. Re: Nemanja Bilbija I had no idea what he looked like and that is the first picture that came up when I searched his name. Thank you for letting me know. It is my second time trying to scout. I posted another one earlier the same day.

  19. Re: Is Fernando Torres the best striker in EPL at the moment? As much as I hate to say it I am going to have to agree but Drogba is not far behind. Comparing Drogba and Torres is always difficult, both had a bad game this week but besides that they have been on fire. The only reason I say Torres is better at the moment is his game against Hull. Drogba has yet to have a game were he dominated as much as Torres did then. On a side note I think that when they are both in top form that Drogba is a better striker, but then again that might be my love for Chelsea or my hate for Liverpool.
  20. Re: Adin Dzafic Thank you MsF, your scouting reports are excellent and I hope one day that mine can be as detailed as yours are. Sadly the lack of information and available video clips prevented me from doing that with this player but there is always next time and now with andyowls blessing I think I will try to scout another player. Preferably one that I know more about.
  21. First off I would like to say that I am no scout. I cannot predict rises at all nor would I even try but I do use the scouting reports so I thought I should try to give something back. This player may rise, he may not. That is for someone more qualified then me to decide, all I can provide is his statistics. I have searched for threads that he is in but couldn't find any, if I overlooked the fact that he has been mentioned already forgive me. I don't follow Bosnian football so I cannot tell you much other then the little I could find online. Adin Dzafic Adin Dzafic is a 19 year old Bosnian forward currently playing for FK Velez Mostar. After an unimpressive two years at HNK Cibalia Vinkovci (26 matches, 1065 minutes, 2 goals) he was sent to FK Velez Mostar in the Bosnian Premier League on a free transfer where despite having five other strikers to compete with he managed to cement his place in the starting eleven. Adin has started in all nine matches this year, scoring eight goals and getting one assist. He has only been subbed off three times giving him 758 out of a possible 810 minutes. Adin has made two appearances for the Bosnian U21 side, playing 71 minutes in an exhibition game against Slovenia and 90 minutes in the Bosnian U21 qualifier against Luxemburg. 919 minutes played, 8 goals, 1 assist FK Velez Mostar 5 - 0 NK Travnik (90 minutes, 1 goal, 1 assist) FK Velez Mostar 4 - 1 FK Olimpik (90 minutes, 1 goal) FK Velez Mostar 1 - 1 FK Sarajevo (90 minutes, 1 goal) FK Velez Mostar 4 - 1 FK Laktasi (90 minutes, 2 goals) FK Velez Mostar 1 - 0 FK Leotar Trebinje (90 minutes) FK Velez Mostar 0 - 1 NK Celik Zenica (90 minutes) FK Velez Mostar 0 - 2 NK Siroki Brijeg (90 minutes) FK Velez Mostar 4 - 0 NK Zvijezda Gradacac (73 minutes, 3 goals) FK Velez Mostar 1 - 2 HSK Zrinjski Mostar (55 minutes) Bosnien-Herzegowina U21 0 - 2 Slowenien U21 (71 minutes) Bosnien-Herzegowina U21 0 - 1 Luxemburg U21 (90 minutes) SM Info Name: Adin DZAFIC Real Club: FK Velež Age: 19 Date of Birth: 12 November 1989 Nationality: Bosnian Position: Central Striker (CF) Preferred Foot: Right Rating: 78
  22. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread I will agree with you on the Drogba thing. The man is built like a brick outhouse but he drops like a little girl the second someone touches him. If he would stay up and push through the defenders then we would have a lot more opportunities every game. Its hard to complain when he scores as much as he does but the diving does get old.
  23. Re: Want a new signature... Get one here! Thank you.
  24. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread I never said you parked the bus well. You didn't play ten back but I just didn't see the attacking intent. There were periods of time in the first half when you did pressure the Chelsea defense but even then the attack seemed lazy and half hearted up until Benayun came on and Chelsea sat back. Watching the game I just don't see how anyone can say that Liverpool played to win that game, the crosses were lazy and even your clear cut chances were sloppy minus Gerrard's shot at the end. Liverpool didnt show up.
