To be honest, I don't understand the point of loaning Macheda out to an Italian club. Sure, it might be better of for him from a personal point of view, but really, who cares? If your a pro, then you have to sacrifise a bit in order to become a great player. I know it was Macheda's personal wish to get loaned out to Sampdoria, but in my opinion, it would be better of if he tried to get loaned out to a club in England. In that way, he'd get more routine from how it is to play in England, he could deal with the fast pace better and he could deal with the hard displays better as well. In Italy, the pace is slower and the games are not as intense as in England. Of course it is good to take on a leading role in such a big team as Sampdoria (he'll replace Cassano) and by this, he will (for sure) learn to take responsibility and when he returns back home to Manchester, he could handle the pressure better (if everything works out well at Sampdoria), as he replaced the best player Sampdoria has had for ages. However, I'd still take a loan to an English club rather than this...

Re: Who is Better? Sir Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho
    To the Mourinho critics...
Mourinho, during his Porto years, worked with a limitied budget. Kind of similar to what Ajax have been working with these recent years after the glory years during the 90's (and now you've seen which way they've been developing since then). Mourinho won the CL trophy and the UEFA Cup trophy with Porto despite having a limited budget. The tv-contracts, the shirt-sponsorship deals and the prize of actually winning something in Portugal weren't worth much at all compared to the 5 biggest leagues in Europe, and they still aren't. Still, Mourinho went on to win the two trophies within two seasons. Practically the whole starting eleven (and bench) during the CL final against Monaco had been signed from smaller Portugueese teams, which makes it kind of insane to say that Mourinho needs a bags of cash to win anything, in my opinion.
Also, at Inter, he clearly said that ''the 2nd year is the year he guides his teams to glory''. With Inter, after an okay 1st season (he did win the Scudetto with Inter, but not the CL trophy, which was the reason he was hired by Moratti), Mourinho finally could structure the team on his own (especially the defence, which Inter had problems with for years). He wanted to play a low-sitting defence and not a high-sitting defence, which Inter had in the past. Players such as Cordoba and Materazzi weren't seeing so much minutes now, as they didn't match Mourinho's criteria (physically strong players, speedy ones and well positioned). So Mourinho signs Lucio from Bayern Munich for 5M € - Lucio later that season ends up beeing perhaps the MVP of the team. He also gave Samuel a chance after 4 seasons at the bench of Inter and constantly dragging injuries. Samuel and Lucio went on to build up the strongest central-defence in Europe that season and especially their performances against Barca at Camp Nou and against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge are two good examples of how Mourinho managed to repair the biggest worry at Inter - the defence - with only spending 5M €. Of course Mourinho did spent big with Motta and Milito, but it was the defence that lead Inter through the CL last season, not the attack (hope you catch my drift).

Re: French Ligue 1 and 2
I actually think this kid one day will play for the NT. He has proven what he is made of in such a lower-class team as Sochaux. His individual performances has even sometimes earned them valuable points for their safety in their battle against the relegation zone (Sochaux vs ASSE earlier this season comes to my mind). I do think that he will sooner or later join a bigger club in France' date=' atleast. He is very skilled with the ball and also posseses speed. With todays modern football, he'd fit pratically every clubs attack-mentality - from the counter-attack football (which Sochaux uses btw) to the attack-mentality some teams posseses (which l'OM uses). Question is, where will he go? There are so many talented players in his position currently in Ligue 1. No matter what, though, he is an upcoming star, in my opinion.
Well, this season he has been performing good. However, as during his whole PSG career, he's been haunted with injuries. Still, though, whenever he has been availble for selection, he has been doing good. He has been better than his parter upfront, Erdinc, and he has scored a decent amount of goals so far aswell (6 goals, if my memory serves me right).
Anyway, Marseille and Rennes have both confirmed the move for Fanni to l'OM. Personally, I think he is a great investment. He will for sure take up the atleast 6 month vacant role at the RB, which Azpi ''left'' beacuse of his injury. Fanni has proven that he is a great defender by beeing a valuable part for many years at the Rennes defence, which this season has been the strongest defence in Ligue 1 by conceding the least amount of goals. He will for sure be missed at Rennes, as they are having many younger players in the defence and he was sort of their natural leader with his routine from several seasons of Ligue 1 football and the fact that he's been selected for Les Bleus many times. I do think Rennes will find a way out, though, as they A) have the best academy squad in France (Souprayen, Marveaux, M'Vila Theophile-Catherine, Brahimi and Lemoine have all been coming up from it these recent years and are all now established players in the Rennes setup) or Will go the easy way out and buy a new defender for the moneys they earned from the Fanni transfer.
Back to Fanni - Once Azpi returns, I think he'll be used kind in the similar way Heinze has been used under his l'OM career. I think Fanni will be used as both as an RB and the position he has taking good care of so far this season, CB. It will give both Fanni and Azpi the playing-time they earn, and I hope this will be the case once Azpi returns, as I do want to see getting playing-time beacuse I see him as a regular in a few years in the Spanish setup.

Luis Cavanda has definately been a suprise figure in a very strong Lazio team (it was years ago since they were this strong!). He might be a bit of unpolished gold-plate, but he certainly has the potential of beeing a future star defender. As many Africans, Cavanda possesses a strong physic and we could aswell add that he is very good with the ball-control and in the air. Thus he can handle both the RB slot and the CB slot relative easily. With older guys like Andre Dias and Biava in the defence, Cavanda really has good mentors he could be teached a thing or two from. The future definately looks bright for this Belgian-Angolian prodigy.

    Who Shall I Buy?

After waiting a total of two years before he could finally take on the Neazurri kit, Philippe Coutinho has showed that his hype is for real.
The former Vasco da Gama player, has so far gotten many minutes by coach Rafa, who is videly known for his love for the rotation-system. However, Coutinho has definately showed that he is definately living up to his hype. With his flashy dribbles, quick feets and good pace, Coutinho might be seen as the ideal winger. What suprise me most is his work-rate. I mean, who would have though that a Brazilian and a Brazilian who is 18 (!) would be perhaps the hardest working player on a pitch consisting a bunch of guys who last season were crowed Champions League winners?

Josip Ilicic has showed why the Palermo president, Maurizio Zamparini, and the rest of the Palermo board decided to invest a couple of millions € in both him and his fellow countrymen, Armin Bacinovic. The flair, techincal bit and the one-on-one situations are Ilicic's strongest sides and Ilicic and Pastore has created a feared Argentinian-Slovenian attacking-duo. With his powerful shot, Ilicic is aswell a danger on set-pieces.

Great win yesterday (how could I have forgotten to mention that in yesterdays post ).
    Some notes;

Farfan had it easy against a much slower defence than he usually he faces in a league where the pace is very much needed. Pasanen and Prödl didn't have it easy nor fun yesterday against the Peruvian, as he was coming through times after times and assisted Raul to one of his goals, and he fixed the corner which lead to the first goal that was scored by no more than Metzelder. Think about that!

Schalke offcially don't have the worst defence in the league anymore. Congrats Bremen, you guys have it now. All goals yesterday bar the first goal, came through individuals errors by the Bremen defenders. They are in desperate need of Naldo, even Mertesacker wasn't at top of his game yesterday.

Bremen wasn't that poor as the result showed. They had more chances to score than Schalke to be honest. Poor finishing, poor attempts on target and a very un-disciplined ground breaking displays by Bremen (why didn't they attack more through the middle where the newly mixed central-midfield consisting Kluge and Matip prooved to be a poor central-line?) made them suffer heavily, as Schalke had about 5-6 attempts throughout the whole game and scored on 4 out of them. If it was 1 ½ month ago, it would have been vice-versa, for sure.

    Sunderland Announces Claudio Marchisio Signing

Marchisio here seen at his latest Italian club, Juventus

After an hetic week at the transfermarket from Sunderland, which saw players such as Jean Makoun, Mehdi Benatia and Kevin Constant join Sunderland, ''The Black Cats'' have now announced the signing of the former Juventus and Aston Villa hitman, Claudio Marchisio.
After weeks of rumors about a move for the Italian, Sunderland won the race to sign him over team on the mainland such as his former club, Juventus, Fiorentina and Valencia. The Spanish talent, Pedro Leon, and the German talent and younger brother of Toni Kroos, Felix Kroos, moved the opposite way. Marchisio has previously declared ''his love for the culture in England and how well his family have settled down in Birmingham'', which was the main reason to why he suprisingly choosed Sunderland over a bit more traditionally stronger teams in Juventus and Valencia, according to him.
Marchisio, who last season bloomed out and showed his true colours after a bit more disappoting first season where he had to deal with several long-term injuries, will have to compete with other central-midfielders in Makoun, Cana, Khedira and Cabaye to gain a starting place alongside Lucho Gonzalez in the nowadays, 4-2-3-1, coach Maradona prefers to use. The Italian international sees no problems in the competition, though, and is more happy with some competition for a starting place.
''I am very happy to have signed a 4 years deal with this club. I've always admired England as a country and my family has settled down well here in England, so choosing Sunderland over a team like Juventus was an easy decision for me. It wasn't easy leaving Aston Villa despte the fact that we got relegated last season, but as the economy is really bad there after the relegation, I had to be sacrifised. However, I'm happy to have joined a team like Sunderland and I will do my best in order to achieve a starting place. I am happy that I have to do so, as it shows what a strong team I have joined. I already know Nesta and Cassetti from my years in Italy, so I think I will find it easy to settle down at Sunderland aswell.''
