And for the REALLY lazy you'd need a "Search Players At Unmanaged Clubs With More Than 21 Players" box as well lol

It's very possible because as well as 3 points for a win you can be awarded 10 points for winning a cup, 10 points for winning the league (5 for runner-up in both cases) as well as 5 points for a win against a team considered better than yours (which sounds like what might have happened). I've seen sneaky people on 20+ points from 2 games when they've joined a team at the end of the season in order to play one game and win the league title...and then stay one more game to win the Charity Shield too!!

slimey2k7 got a reaction from Steven in My Idea to help fix player hogging
Player hogging isn't really an issue in Gold Championships as at the start of a new one, all the good players are spread out over lots of teams (as they are in real life), there isn't just one team hogging them all.
It only becomes an issue if lots of managers leave and other teams plunder their now unmanaged teams to get the best players - in some cases leaving Gold Championships with only 20 or 30 existing managers who have all the best players between them. Yes nobody is likely to take a team in that GC when they see this - but would anyone want to take a team in that old GC anyway when there are plenty of newer GCs?
Is it the fault of the managers who left at the start (probably because they didn't win all their games blah blah) or the fault of SM for allowing unmanaged teams to be raided? Then again if buying from unmanaged wasn't allowed then would anyone take those teams anyway - I recently quit two of my GC teams because the number of managed teams had dropped to less than 25 (out of 480) and I didn't want to carry on playing in an empty league! So player hogging had no bearing on me quitting as I was winning the league (and in GCs you only need a team good enough to win your particular league)

Nobody really knows...but generally it seems that they are likely to sign for you within 10 points of your average squad rating (so you could sign 86s but probably no higher).
Free agents will join though (presumably they are less choosy as they don't have a club lol) so it might be worth buying a few free agents to bump up your squad rating before going for the big guys!

I'd rather be in this GC than one where you can pick up 92+ players from unmanaged clubs every day and win the league every season playing against unmanaged clubs...
Someone posted a club on the Available GC Teams thread recently and described it as being in "a competitive league" and I looked - 4 out of the 20 teams were managed lol. At least in this GC all leagues are competitive (mine has one unmanaged team in it).
Anyway if it's so bad...why are you here? Surely you don't want to contribute to such a terrible league by getting a team promoted, how will you live with yourself afterwards lol

The real glory hunters are the ones that take over an unmanaged team that is just about to win the league, play one game with them and pick up the league trophy (and a nice 10.0 towards their Manager Points total) then quit again when their work is done - why wait a whole season?
Although some of them stay put for 2 games...leaving after they've won the next season's Charity Shield as well lol

Good ideas, especially scrapping the "pay off concerns" feature, how about scrapping the "loan requests from unmanaged clubs" feature that you brought in as well???
As for three concern levels, I recently took on a team in an early-ish GC and, although the club only had 50 players with one player rated over 88, Luke Shaw had a Level 2 lack of games concern. Last week, despite me playing him in every game since I took over, he's gone up to a Level 3 concern so if that was brought in I'd have lost him already (probably to some player-hogger) so that doesn't seem fair!

Not at the moment - there was a time a few years ago when SM tried to "give cash a value again" by removing all the spare money from clubs as a so-called Chairmans Dividend (one of my teams lost over £300M...can't imagine what the chairman spent it on). It hasn't been done since then, luckily

    Re: Results are questionable
Are you in a league with mostly managed or unmanaged teams? If it's managed ones then maybe the other managers have worked out how to predict your tactics and counter them, if it's unmanaged then it's good old SM randomness at work!
I had a Gold Championship team which I used to think was cursed as they'd been runner-up in the league several times but never won it, then one season they were 15 points clear at the top with 7 games to go, all 7 games against (considerably weaker) unmanaged teams! Of course I lost 6 and drew 1 of the remaining games and lost the league by a point...
...but the next season I won the league and the Champions Cup with them (and the league the following season as well) so the curse appeared to have been lifted!
I have a team in GC1 which won their league (with 18 of the 20 teams managed) then the next season scraped to 15th and now this season are back on top again - so sometimes it seems to deliberately make you struggle the season after you do well (although I've seen people win divisions several seasons in a row too, I've got a Manchester City in a GC which has done 1-1-1-2-1 in the last 5 seasons).
    Check out these match stats...

    Possession 64 - 36
    Total Shots 28 - 6
    Shots On Target 6 - 2
    Corners 10 - 3
    Final Score 0 - 2

What's this? Fire the SM Match Engine!! How could that happen - well it happened in the Preston North End v Nottingham Forest FA Cup match yesterday evening, proving that even real football has dodgy stats sometimes...

Re: What should I do? Player concerns
You could always start a couple of the lower rated players and sub them off if losing or drawing...that way if you end up winning a match they'll have played the whole game, if you're losing or drawing after say 45 or 60 minutes you can bring higher-rated players on to go for the win and your lower-rated players will get the half game.
You may find that starting 1 of your 89 players won't affect your team's average rating if your average rating is only 92 - so it may be worth taking a 90/91 without concerns out of the team and putting an 89 without concerns in!

slimey2k7 got a reaction from arampage in Still confuse~if to win matches, it is by formation or higher players rating?
Re: Still confuse~if to win matches, it is by formation or higher players rating?
A bit of both...plus luck as well lol. Generally the higher rated team will win - a high rated managed team in a league full of lower rated unmanaged teams may lose a few games throughout the season but will win the league 90% of the time (or thereabouts).
Throw in other managed teams and that's where it gets a bit more complex - if the higher rated team beat the lower rated team every time no matter what the tactics were, this would be the worst game ever and each league would only have one managed team in it.
Here's a good example from a Gold Championship (both teams active managers and all players on 100% fitness).
Champions Cup Round 1 : Steaua Bucuresti v Barcelona
    Leg 1 : Steaua (h) ave rating 86, 4-5-1D, Barcelona (a) ave rating 94, 3-5-2 (with arrows)
    Leg 2 : Barcelona (h) ave rating 95, 3-2-2-2-1 (with arrows), Steaua (a) ave rating 87, 4-5-1D.
Looking at these stats and particularly over two games, you'd say Barcelona would win quite comfortably or, at the very least, "not lose". But this is what actually happened...
    Leg 1 : Steaua 3 Barcelona 1
    Leg 2 : Barcelona 0 Steaua 2
So was the key to this...ratings? No. Formations...is 4-5-1D the best formation ever full stop? Probably not. Arrows...are arrows just useless, would Barcelona have won if they hadn't used them? Who knows?
What I do know is that, knowing SM, the chances are the next game Steaua use that same 4-5-1D formation they'd end up losing to a team much lower rated than the Barcelona were - or maybe even lower rated than they themselves are.
So (eventually) yes ratings play a part, tactics play a part, fitness plays a part...kind of (I've easily beaten higher rated NMF teams in the past...as well as losing to lower rated NMF ones) and player positioning plays a part too - but as with real football there's always an element of chance involved and until SM themselves announce how they work that into the equasion, we may never know!!

If I can, I send out all 100% fitness players, generally I wouldn't play anyone under 90% but I have recently brought on 75% players as late substitutes on a couple of occasions (less time for them to get injured lol).
I think low fitness does have an effect on some occasions, recently I won against a 90-rated managed team with my 86-rated team in a highly competitive GC, I was about to congratulate myself on my managerial awesomeness but then I looked at the other manager's squad and 4 of them were NMF after the game, so they must have been on reasonably low fitness (and that was probably why I won, rats!)

SM have changed things around recently making it harder to do part-exchange deals with external clubs - you used to be able to easily swap a 77 rated player for an 82. It sounds like the Leverkusen chairman is valuing your player at considerably less than your chairman does therefore is refusing to swap an 89 for an 84 which is realistic I suppose as no human manager would probably do that deal (but annoying too when you're a smaller club trying to make your team better)
