  1. After two consecutive draws against top six teams, I wanted to give an update on our progress at Arsenal. The Gunners are currently sitting in 6th place after a little over half the season but I've made progress on rebuilding the squad from the roots up. After failed attempts to get Pirlo and De Jong from external teams, I decided to opt for more investment on youth as I did when I previously managed Chesterfield. With a focus on value in the transfer market, we managed to get Algerian striker Islam Slimani, Jack Cork and Jonathas (not world beaters but they will bolster on what we already
  2. One season on: observations since manager Glory Days arrival at Arsenal Reflective: Arsenal manager Glory Days has had a positive effect on the Gunners Its been approximately one season since the arrival of Australian manager Glory Days to the North London club. Arsenal sits comfortably in eight place with 26 points and is in prime position to push to the top with only a four point gap separating the Gunners and league leader Preston North End. Some observations since the arrival of manager Glory Days: Financial stability forces frugal spending An interesting development is Arsenals spen
  3. The Gunners has had a stellar start to the season with 11 from a possible 18 points and leaves us in sixth place. The off-season additions of Nigerian striker Brown Ideye and Aron Johannsson helps bolster our squad and lower the age of my overall squad. The performances of Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang and French midfielder Jordan Ferri have been a pleasant surprise but with the upcoming fixture congestion of the cups and league games, the depth of our squad will be truly tested and it will be an interesting time to be a Gunner!
  4. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Arsenal secure Division Two status With a 2-1 win against relegation threatened Wigan Athletic, Arsenal have all but assured our Division Two status with 14 points separating the Gunners from 17th placed Wigan Athletic. Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse has been in a rich vein of form with three goals and four assists in his last five appearances however it's our defense which needs to be commended with an excellent defensive record with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Alaixys Romao, Yaroslav Rakitskiy, Tomas Huboscan, Marcel Schmelzer, Nac
  5. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Arsenal continued their merry run with four from a possible six points with a dour draw against Bristol City and a win against Tranmere Rovers. The points mean even more as we are one point away from the hallowed 45 points mark which will assure us of Division Two safety and more importantly, there is a 11 point difference between 17th placed Wigan and us with five games to go. Barring an absolute horror show, Arsenal should be in Division Two next season. I have also been busy adding to my youth team with the signings of Chilean central def
  6. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Arsenal received a major boost in their fight for survival with a solid 3-2 win over Portsmouth with goals to Papiss Cisse, Mikel Arteta and Yoann Gourcuff. After our loss against Rotherham, I decided to change things up with Gamez, Schmelzer, Gourcuff and Cisse coming in to add something different and it produced the desired result with a win which takes us five points from the hallowed 45 point mark. We boosted our financial clout by selling Fred and Felipe Melo for a combined 17.7 million and signed Hungarian striker Adam Szalai for 6.3 mil
  7. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread A few interesting developments have happened since I last posted. The Gunners managed to sign Rakitskiy from Preston North End for 15 million, a big thanks to Riece for the deal and despite his big transfer fee, he is well worth it if we can remain in Division Two. Since the Man City win, we have had two wins, one draw and one loss (Swindon Town) but more important we got 7 points from a possible 12 which given the Gunners' poor league form is an excellent return. The real marvel of my current season of Dutch goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet who since
  8. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread I've been away on holiday through the Easter long weekend and I was given an early Easter present in the way of two excellent wins over promotion chasing Northampton Town and relegation threatened Manchester City. Despite the positioning of Man City, these were two major scalps and help us push our way out of the relegation zone. We are now one of the form teams in Division Two but we will need to maintain our good run if we are to be safe. Some major developments while I was on holiday. Transfers In Huge signing for the Gunners, eventh
  9. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread The Gunners continue on their merry way with a crucial 1-0 win over relegation contenders Blackburn Rovers. Our defence is coming together with one goal in our last three league matches. New boy defender Marcos Rojo couldn't have played better in defence, grabbing the MOTM honours in his Gunner's debut but it's early days for the young defender. Arsenal have added another interesting piece of the puzzle with the addition of Lukasz Fabianski who has done really well in real life and may be in line for a rise. He will add competition to fellow
  10. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread I have been a busy beaver in the last week, looking to improve/build my Arsenal squad to a respectable level. The outgoing transfers are as notable as the incoming transfers. I was looking for value in the market, sometimes picking up a gem or two from externals, defender Lindsay Rose, midfielder Shkelzen Gashi and goalkeeper Zoet were such additions. Particularly happy with the pickups of Gashi (who in real life has 18 goals in 22 appearances) and young keeper Zoet who has performed well since his introduction to the first team. In terms
  11. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread After a long delay, I finally put up a few articles about my time at Chesterfield and my time at Arsenal and transfer coming into the club. If your interested it's on the article's part of the forum
  12. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Highly coveted Marcos Rojo and Ryo Miyaichi join Glory Days’ revolution Argentine defender Marcos Rojo has emerged as a top class defender under Glory Days Arsenal pulled off a transfer coup signing promising young players Marcos Rojo and Ryo Miyachi. Manager Glory Days has taken little time to impose his philosophy on the Gunners with a flurry of transfers within the first two weeks of his tenure. While the Miyachi transfer is in a similar vein to recruiting for the youth team, the move for Rojo is expected
  13. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Arsenal manager Glory Days stamps authority with a flurry of transfers Youth is the way forward: Arsenal recruited promising defender Lindsay Rose In less than two weeks, manager Glory Days has wanted to put his stamp on the Gunner's squad. A clear focus on youth has been evident with five of his six incoming transfers being for players under the age of 24. A clear vision on building the Gunner's back from the grass roots, focusing on the youth team, allowing youngsters to come through the ranks, something Glo
  14. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Arsenal FC appoint manager Glory Days Signed: manager Glory Days is delighted to have taken over the reins at Arsenal Arsenal F.C. signed manager Glory Days. The experienced Australian left Division Three side Chesterfield after six seasons and 288 matches and will look to make an immediate impact on the London side. With a large following, the Gunners are mired in the relegation but the hiring of manager Glory Days will give the London side, something they have lacked in seasons: stability. After the horro
  15. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Manager Glory Days bids farewell to the Spireites Clearly emotional Glory Days thanks the fans for all their support throughout his tenure After 288 games over 6 seasons at Chesterfield, manager Glory Days has departed. The announcement was made prior to kick off that Glory Days would move to London giants Arsenal on a five seasons deal. The Spireites faithful will only have good things to say for the Australian manager who turned a side mired in Division Four into a competitive Division Three side with two stron
  16. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread I haven't been posting because of real life commitments but I have been quietly rebuilding the Arsenal side back from the ground up. I looked to get some quality youth into squad with the likes of Lindsay Rose (who will get minutes with the season ending injury to Bisevic, possibly a cheeky +1 rise), exciting wingers Barrow, Rachid Gezzal and Amin Younes (big thanks to Raz for the quick deal) and promising striker Benjamin Jeannot. I also bolstered the side with a bit of experience with veteran Axaixys Romao from Exeter City for 7.5 million
  17. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread As some may already know, I have taken over the Arsenal job from the terror reign of Hammer. I honestly never thought I would leave Chesterfield who I think I have left in the best state they have ever been with up and coming talent, solid starters and financially sound. I told myself that I would only move if there was a "bigger" club involved and I was first choice consideration which happened in this case. After considering over the weekend, I decided to take on the challenge of reviving a dour Gunners side who has been plagued with
  18. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread After a few enquiries about the Arsenal job, I will make a final decision after the next match day. If I do move to the Gunners, I would hope a manager would stay with Chesterfield long term in order to build on what is already there.
  19. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread A big week for Chesterfield, the Spireites managed 1-1 draw with second place Brighton Hove and Albion. After positive results against Shorpe United and Coventry City, we shot up to 8th place (one point away from 6th spot) In transfer news: It has been an unprecedented period of transfer movement for Chesterfield with as many as five players moving into the squad while one moved away. Transfers Out: Chesterfield "veteran" Denys Garmash moves on after 223 appearances over seven seasons, he played a key part in the Spireites ascent into
  20. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Powerhouse forward Fernando Llorente signs for Chesterfield Marquee signing Fernando Llorente is delighted to help Chesterfield push for promotion Chesterfield sealed the transfer of Spanish striker Fernando Llorente from Division Two club, Leeds United. The Spireites broke their transfer record to secure Llorente with an amazing three way deal consisting of Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor, South Korean midfielder Koo Ja Cheol and 1.2 million, accumulating to a total of 13 million in player sales and cash. A
  21. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread I haven't posted in a while so for the sake of convenience Chesterfield crash out of both cups in the early stages of the season, congrats to the Posh manager for a dominant performance that only yielded one goal. good game Muallan! A big upset especially against promotion hunting Birmingham, Good game Veigas! A solidatary goal from Norwegian midfielder Nordtveit was enough to break the dead lock and give us the points! One of the worst performances in recent memory for Chesterfield. The low light of the season no doubt. In all my yea
  22. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Newcastle United 1 Chesterfield 2 A huge result for the Spireites with a 2-1 win over heavily favoured Newcastle United at St James Park. I would have been happy with a draw today especially with the likes of Ibrahimovic, Tevez and Yaya Toure however a surprise goal by Denys Garmash and a goal for mercurial play maker Gylfi Sigurdsson late in the match was enough to seal a huge upset. We have 14 points now, three points away from the top six and looking confident however our run of difficult fixtures continue when we face high flying Peter
  23. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Thanks Kopstar. The challenge will be difficult but I am up for it! My project at Sheffield Wednesday was off to a winning start with a 4-1 victory against Colchester United. While I am quietly reshaping the side for my project' date=' I put in a few players who may still have a chance at playing at my club in future. A valuable brace by defender Zayatte and a goal each for Midfielder Hutchinson and Anichebe. The only player match fit enough for the game was star signing Tim Cahill who was a constant menace on the Colchester defend
  24. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Hi everyone, I'm back at Sheffield Wednesday. However I'm back to attempt an experiment of mine that I devised myself. In an era of financial fair play, finances are scrutinized. My plan is to get Sheffield Wednesday promoted with a playing squad of 85 rated and under that has a team wage of 350,000. However I will have two designated players will be exempted from this condition. ( also my designated players will also be exempt from the rating limitation as well) Since the season is young, I will try to attempt the one season goal o
  25. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread A disappointing 1-0 loss to Division Two Crystal Palace in the English Shield. Aussie winger Robbie Kruse got the goal after Palace dominated the first half however even more disappointing is our inability to put the ball in the back of the net. Adebayor is having a case of the yips in front of goal but played well overall, he just needs that one goal to get him started. Another injury hits Chesterfield, this time it is Portuguese fullback Tiago Gomes who will be out for a week at least which takes our tally to six injuries in the last two wee
