  1. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool 1 Stoke City 1 In what was a battle between the established Stoke vs. the new boys Liverpool, Stoke denied the Reds an opportunity to get maximum points in a "smash and grab" performance. Reds defended soundly and captain Reina was on song until the 88th minute where Khacheridi equalised in the dying stages. Fans on Merseyside would be left speechless as the Potters grabbed an unlikely point. Krancjar gave Liverpool the lead but it was all for nothing as Stoke leveled scores. Surprised at our side's early run of good form which sees us in an unlikely 4th place, unfortunately Cambiasso got a straight red and Merieles picked up another knock which may see us test the depth of our midfield resources.
  2. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Burton Albion 1 Chesterfield 3 A breakthrough win over a "bigger" side, on paper Burton had the better team but this game wasn't played on paper. After a cry out for more contributions from the midfield, they responded in kind. Ireland and Mariga chimed in but the pick of the team was MOTM Dmitri Torbinsky. He was a menace to Burton Albion, running at them, drawing fouls, providing an assist and scoring a crucial opening goal with a free kick. The result was needed in order to consolidate our solid start to the season, which pushes us up to 11th. On the financial scene, a piece of good news and smart investment. A nice little rise for the young Japanese defender after bringing him in for 200k, his value has increased to $1 million! We made 5 times the profit for our investment which helps us keep afloat financially. Next up we have a tough assignment against QPR, then Aldershot and Wycombe Wanderers.
  3. Re: Some Predictions for Liga Zon Sagres Hey mate, How come you think Pedro Moreira will rise to 83/84, I thought the cap on Porto B would be 80/81 max And who is worth keeping more in the short and long term? Sergio Oliveria or Pedro Moreira both from FC Porto Thanks
  4. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Wigan 1 Chesterfield 1 (Pens: Wigan 5 Chesterfield 3) Chesterfield crashed out of the English Shield at the hands of Wigan. Like in the English Cup last season, Chesterfield fell in the cruelest way possible, the penalty shootout. Great game mate! Chesterfield pushed the Division Two side to the absolute limits and held the unlikely lead for 73 minutes through a lovely finish by Cup enigma Chris Averor in the 2nd minute. Bravo was an absolute colossus for us by keeping the talented Lactics at bay for 75 minutes, only for Holtby to equalise late in the game. From there it was a lottery, our designated penalty taker Paloschi missed from the spot and that sealed our fate. Manager Glory Days commented on his thoughts on the dramatic finish Talented young Portuguese DM Sergio Oliveria is open to offers of transfer after his transfer ban is over (which is within the next week) if you are interested feel free to PM me Next up is the talented Stockport "Brazilian" County, the head to head is 1-1 and I am intent on getting us the win!
  5. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield looked to strengthen their depth in the transfer market, after the departure of Ryan Fraser to West Ham Purchased both with the hope that either could rise, in the case of HAAS it was a good purchase. Although HAAS is older than Kerr, I didn't think Kerr was going to rise anymore, so another investment for my team.
  6. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread In transfer news for Chesterfield Great doing business with you Niall, Newcastle made a bid for him as well but you beat him to the punch! Although Fraser is a talented young Scot with a lot of potential, this deal made financial for my little Chesterfield side. Since I made a 400k investment on Fraser, I made 6 times the profit with his sale which a big deal for my side! Really pleased with the deal as it was 1 million above my asking price which made the offer too good to turn down. Although a mere $1 million isn't a lot of money to a big team, for a little side it keeps our heads above water
  7. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool 2 Aston Villa 1 Liverpool continued their mini-resurgence post the Man Utd encounter with a solid performance against previously unbeaten Aston Villa. Niko Krancjar gave the Reds the early lead while deadball specialist Albin Ekdal doubled our lead through a free kick but Marcelo replied and made it a nervous final 8 minutes of the game. Kudos must be given to starlet Albin Ekdal who was not only the surprise packet of last season but the most valuable player in the Liverpool team so far!! He has 7 goals in 7 games and he has looked threatening every time there has been a dead ball situation. It's a testament to a player who is keeping the likes of Felliani and Miereles on the bench while he is carving up defenses. Unfortunately we picked up two injuries with Kana Biyik out for 3 weeks while Zabaleta picked up a minor knock a will probably be out for the next 1-2 matches. Next up is a local rivalry match against my mate Notts Forest, which will be interesting since he does have the wood on us but I am hoping to change that!
  8. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Bristol Rovers 0 Chesterfield 0 Funny old game SM dished out. After the previous match scoring and conceding 6 goals, today we managed to keep a clean sheet but not score as well. Quite a reversal! If you offered me a draw at the start of the game, I would have taken it and only positives can be taken from this match. Although Rodallega had 2-3 chances to win this game, it wasn't for the brilliant saves of Carcasso we would have been celebrating a hard earned win. Returning goalkeeping hero Claudio Bravo made the perfect start by keeping a clean sheet and we did dominate possession but all for nothing, as we didn't carve out any incisive finishes. After Garmash's sending off in the 26th minute, it was down hill from there but we could have still snatched it late at the end, if not for their brilliant keeper. Next up is the cup against Wigan
  9. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Great article mate It reflects my sentiments exactly in managing my Chesterfield side in Division 4. The challenge for keeping the finances' date=' players and looking for risers being heavily contested by every club. The added element of tactical nous to take on the "bigger" teams in division four, makes me appreciate SM and my team even more. In transfer news The grim reality of being a smaller club is that you can't maintain a certain number of "highly" rated players but must sell them in order to keep us above debt, at least for the time being. Young Scottish starlet Ryan Fraser is open to move for a cash offer, if interested please feel free to put in a bid
  10. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Hahahaha...well according to the match rating' date=' Kameni had a pretty decent game with a 7 but it was more the good play of Shrewsbury and our rubbish defending which resulted in us conceding 6. In a reverse deal to the one that I did with previous Blackpool manager Niall Taylor. Although Kameni started brightly at my club, his inconsistent performances cost us points in matches. With a combination of Steve willing to trade Bravo back and my desire to go with someone that I knew, we got the desired result. I hope that he does better for Blackpool than he did for Chesterfield
  11. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN West Brom 1 Liverpool 3 Liverpool bounced back from the trouncing at the hands of the Red Devils with a solid win over West Brom. Ekdal grabbed a double who is undoubtedly the player season at this early stage of the season with 6 goals in 6 games and RVP got another important goal to close out the game. Good game Niall! In a game where we played very well, I kept faith with the side that was trounced by Man Utd and they repaid my faith in full. We move up to 5th with the victory with hopes of Europe. Next up is Aston Villa Liverpool 1 Manchester United 4 Current Champions Man United showed their credentials with a resounding 4-1 win over fierce rivals Liverpool. In a much hyped game, the Red Devils outclassed the Merseyside outfit. I used the wrong tactics and Man Utd made us pay and we were never in this match as they dominated possession and chances at goal. We had to regroup for the West Brom game.
  12. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 6 Shrewsbury Town 6 Chesterfield were apart of a 12 goal thriller with Shrewsbury Town! That's right, 12 goals!! Great game mate! In a match where defending was thrown out the window and attackers could proverbially "fill up their boots", it was a Topsy-turvey game in which both sides held a 2 goal lead at some point. I thought Chesterfield were in line for a comfortable victory after leading 2-0 after 15 minutes through Torbinsky and Ireland but then Shrewsbury struck back with a double of their own with Kavlak and Sapeta. Paloschi briefly gave Chesterfield the lead briefly but that was the catalyst for Shrewsbury to strike back, with a Kavlak, Mehdi and Choup-moting giving them a two goal margin. Paloschi lessened the deficit on the 61st minute but Choup-mouting restored the lead. But not to be out be outdone, Chesterfield mounted a comeback of their own, with Rodallega and Torbinsky equalising. Chesterfield had the possible Rodallega winner chalked off due to offside late in the game. I don't know how to feel about this match, I mean it was some spectacle to watch 6 goals go in and have a stirring comeback but we did leak 6 goals ourselves. I suppose all in all, since Shrewsbury did play better then we did, we got away with a point. Which I thought was a fair result on the day. Got a tough fixture list for the next 3 matches. I have Bristol Rovers, Wigan (in the cup) and Stockport. Bristol and Stockport have two of the best squads in the division while Wigan is 2 divisions higher than we are. Should be an interesting few games but today's game will be hard to top!
  13. Re: Any Competitive EC's? English Championship 2933 has just started their season with 4 games already gone but still some good teams available, if your interested:D
  14. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 1 Shrope United 1 A point against Shrope who have been in good form in the early part of the season. But in truth, I'm a bit disappointed as we had more shots on goal and on target. At least we are heading in the right direction, Rodallega and Paloschi had an off game but MOTM Ireland was the one who gave us the lead. 1 win, 2 losses and 1 draw for our opening games, an average to low return for our team but hopefully we can pick up performances. Next up is Dagenham who we have never picked up any points against, so will be a tough assignment
  15. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN West Ham 1 Liverpool 2 Albin Ekdal's brace gave Liverpool the three points over West Ham, the plucky Swedish International once again showed his value for the team by providing a game changing performance. The match was a very even affair and in truth, I'm glad to get away with the result although the stats suggest that we had more shots on target and shots at goal, so possibly a well deserved win. Lombaerts slotted in for the injured Kana Biyik who couldn't make the first XI due to fitness issues. Felliani's good performance may keep Miereles out of the first XI for the time being and Uchida's good form is keeping new signing Zabeleta on the bench. Next up is my first big derby against current champions Man Utd, should be an interesting yard stick to indicate where my team is at this season.
  16. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Brentford 2 Chesterfield 1 A match of limited chances but congrats to Brentford who played the better football, Mariga got our only goal. Hopefully things can pick up like we did towards the end of last season. Chesterfield 3 Southend United 1 Chesterfield's first win of the season but what made it more impressive was that we came back from a bad 6-1 loss to Swidon Town on the opening day. Rodallega, Torbinsky and Antonelli with the goals
  17. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool 3 Newcastle 3 A six goal thriller which resulted in the Toons and Reds sharing the points. Defence was thrown out the window today and attacking football was the winner. Liverpool came back three times in the game to secure a fair point at Anfield. Falcao scored the opener then Guardado's header equalised, Dzsudzsak gave Newcastle the lead on the half hour mark but Kana-Biyik equalised shortly after. Kyle Walker then grabbed the lead again on 63 minutes but RVP converted from the pen spot to get us a point. Another reason for cheer was the signing of Giuseppi Rossi coming off the bench and although he didn't score, there will be better things to come for him In transfer news: Many thanks to Mister Malcolm for the quick negotiations and transfer of Rossi who I have admired for a long time. I was looking for a genuine striker as opposed to Farfan who was a makeshift option. Although I think I overpaid for Rossi, if he can get over his injury ravaged career in real life and can seal his move to up and coming Fiorentina, I can see this deal panning out for me. Next up is Preston North End
  18. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 3 Southend United 1 Chesterfield's first home game of the season saw the Spireites claim a valuable three points. The victory was made the all better since we got over our 6-1 thumping in the first game. Proud of the boys to bounce back from such a bad loss to get the points today. Antonelli gave Chesterfield the early lead in the 15th minute, Ireland then assisted Torbinsky in doubling our lead. But our side was feeling generous and an error from Kameni resulted in an own goal for Mariga. However Mariga made up for his error by forcing a penalty which Rodallega slotted home and sealed the result. Next up is Brentford
  19. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool have placed Victor Moses 86 W/F (who is in line of at least a rise of 1) and Korean striker Son Heung Min 87 F/W (who would have lower wages than a standard 87 rated player since I signed him on 84 rating) Feel free to put in a bid
  20. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Swidon Town 6 Chesterfield 1 Quite a humbling loss for Chesterfield, on a day where nothing went right for us. Possibly a tactical reshuffle is in order but a bad day at the office. Hats off to Swidon Town but the worst possible start to the season for us. Next up is Southend United
  21. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Millwall 1 Liverpool 2 Liverpool began their ascendency to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over fellow promoted side Millwall. RVP and Ekdal got the goals while Nainggolan chimed in with one for Millwall. In truth, we dominated the opportunities and possession but I was worried the Millwall might be able to equalise towards the end of the match, thankfully they didn't and it caps off a good week of transfers with a win. Unfortunately Meireles picked up an injury for 9 days but gives other players an opportunity to shine. In transfer news Grateful to the Norwich manager for getting the deal done quickly and signing a quality player in the centre of midfield which would not only give us depth but experience. Since the arrival of Lombaraets from Zenit, Djourou was deemed surplus to requirements and I thought it was a good trade for all. Possibly looking for one more transfer to complete my off season dealings Next up is Newcastle
  22. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool would like to announce their first signing of the new season Really, really glad to have secured Lombaerts to the club, it was a very close run bidding war with fellow Division 1 promoted side Carlise United and I thought that they had won the war with Andres Santos and 2.5 million but to my surprise we got our man! A trade of Beria and 3.5 million for one of the best available centre halves in externals is well worth it in my eyes. Beria has had limited chances to play since I signed Zabaleta and the versatile Catherine Theophile to the club. Looking to sign possibly 1-2 more players to strengthen for the upcoming season. Jefferson Farfan 91, Gabriel Obertan 86 and Soritis Ninis 87 are still open to offers, feel free to PM me or put in a bid if interested.
