  1. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Ipswich 1 Liverpool 0 Liverpool's unbeaten run finally ended at the hands of an unmanaged Ipswich in the English Cup third round. A surprise loss but we will move on quickly and concentrate on the league Uchida picks up a three week injury, so that might be an inconvience but we have good cover with Bosingwa Next up is third placed Birmingham City
  2. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool continued on its merry way with a win against serial promotion candidates Hull City who have a good strong team. It was quite close for a about an hour with Mathieu and Felliani having equalised but then midfield maestro Merieles and young gun Moses came in and made the game beyond doubt That makes it 12 games unbeaten in league and cup with (10 unbeaten in league) Next up is Ipswich in the cup
  3. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 0 Gillingham 1 Chesterfield slumped to another loss and our iinconsistent form continues...I feel gutted to be honest, lost to a 88th minute winner from Kolarov. We had the better of the chances in the first half but couldn't convert. Good game mate What hurts even more is the fact that Bolatti got sent off is out for the next game, our line leading striker Paloschi is out for 6 weeks and Martinez is out for 4 days along with injuries to Wendt and Elkeson, our small squad is depleted to its bare bones Very, very glad to have sealed the loan deal. Big Thanks to BigGameMo for the loan, he will be a massive shot in the arm and will be a great player for Chesterfield and made more important with the current injury crisis, he is looking at starting in the next match May be looking for another loan, possibly a forward or winger are there any available?
  4. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool played out a dour draw against manger-less QPR 0-0
  5. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Bury 1 Chesterfield 1 Pens Bury 1 Chesterfield 3 Chesterfield's Shield run continues thanks to a penalty shoot out thriller against Bury, it was nerve wracking stuff. Great game mate , I didn't have any great hope of toppling a big side like Bury but I guess lady luck was on our side. We had a great opening 30 mins where new boy Smolov gave us the lead in the third minute however with our dominance of the first half we couldn't extend our lead any further. Bury equalised through Enrique in the 22nd minute with their only chance of the half, but since either couldn't make a breakthrough it was going to penalties which is always a lottery. Stand in Captain Bravo was brilliant in the shootout, only letting one shot in while it was Smolov's stand out game. On a sour note, Elkeson picked up a minor injury Next up is Gillingham
  6. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool 2 Millwall 2 Pen Liverpool 4 Millwall 2 Liverpool progressed into the next round of the English Shield with an absolute penalty shoot out with Millwall leading a majority of the game, it wasn't until a flash double from fringe player Salvio in the 78th and 81st minute respectively that Liverpool made it a real game. Fortunate to get through to the next round but Salvio impressed me Next up is unmanaged QPR
  7. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Brentford 2 Chesterfield 2 Chesterfield got away with a lucky point, an 88th minute penalty from Paloschi who got us a point in a game where I would have been very disappointed if we didn't leave with anything. In truth the stats indicated quite a close game in terms of shots on goal, shots on target and possession however I felt that we didn't capitalise on our early prowress with a goal and we paid for it twice. But to our credit, we came back from behind twice to get a point. Guess it showed that we have some backbone, Torbinsky was once again on the scoresheet, scoring from a free-kick However bad new with Oscar Wendt will be out for 3 weeks with a strained hamstring, this is a big body blow since he was starting to get into some good form but now our team needs to reset and get things going again Next up is tough Bury in the cup
  8. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Millwall 0 Liverpool 2 Big win for the Reds with an up and coming Millwall side, great performance on so many levels, keeping a clean sheet, scoring 2 goals with Ait Fana and Bosingwa sealing the 3 points Gave Ait Fana a start and he really impressed me in his first start but there was bad news with Guardado being injured for 2 weeks but aside from that an ideal game, tough but we came out with the win thats 2 league wins on the trot, been unbeaten in 8 games and we have rocketed to 4th Next up is a cup game against Millwall, great test of our depth
  9. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 2 Bristol Rovers 1 Chesterfield capitalized on their good cup form with a 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers. In all honesty, we dominated this game but the result could have been very different had the Rovers equalised. Chesterfield looked up for the game by dominating the first 15 minutes but for no reward, it wasn't until Bristol Rovers took the surprise lead in the 18th minute through a Floccari header, that they sprung to life. Ait Fana equalised thanks to a squared ball by Paloschi and promoted starter Lima provided a delicious cross for maestro Torbinsky to drill a header and give the Spireites the lead. Next up is Brentford then we have a cup game against Bury, should really stretch our resources at the club
  10. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 2 West Brom 1 Chesterfield's magical English cup journey continues with a 2-1 win over West Brom. Another giant killing for the Spireites, first Bury and now West Brom , definitely a bright ray of positives in this game with man of the match Averor bringing his best performance in a Chesterfield shirt. Lima started things off with a bullet header from an Elkeson free kick then Averor scored a brilliant long range effort from a Lima back pass. Conti got one back which made it an uncomfortable final 25 minutes but Chesterfield held on strong in order to secure an unlikely win. Honourable mentions to Bravo for keeping the West Brom efforts on goal at bay, while Watson, Smolov and Dudgeon played well in the midfield and the back 4 kept their defensive shape. Great positive heading into our league game against fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers
  11. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Derby County 1 Liverpool 3 Liverpool have claimed a big scalp in Garymack's Derby County in the cup, good game mate Our cup team did a great job today, Ekdal scored from a free kick, an own goal from Phil Jones and Ait Fana scored from a free kick as well. Great performance from the lads and its a real boost for the Reds, Ait Fana in particular impressed me and may be up for a starting job with Farfan, but time will tell. Oscar Wendt picked up a minor knock and will be out for 4 days, from the last three tough matches, we picked up 2 draws and a win. Satisfying result Next up is Leicester City
  12. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Colchester 1 Chesterfield 1 Disappointing draw I have to say when we had two penalty chances, we could have taken three points today, albeit for our poor finishing in front of goal. Man of the match Karim Ait Fana missed one penalty and converted another. Truth be told it was quite a close game with Colchester dominating early but Chesterfield took the early lead. Feels like one that got away Next up the ominous West Brom in the cup, not looking forward to that one!
  13. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Fulham 2 - Liverpool 2 Liverpool unbeaten run continues with a draw against Fulham, although Fulham took the early impotence they couldn't covert that to a goal until the 21st minute where Eto scored, however the Reds struck back by dark horse Krancjar who slotted in a strong effort, Guardado slotted in a good effort to give the Reds the lead only for it to be pulled back by the Cottagers, Guardado got his 2nd yellow card and got sent off Next up is Derby County in the cup
  14. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield prevailed in the bottom of the table clash against Southend United with a 3-2 win. Bolatti, Torbinsky and Douglao scored while in reply Gouffran and Popovic tried to lessen the deficit. Although quite a close game, I'm glad that we broke our losing streak in the league but there are still some major concerns with our defense and we almost bottled this game, when we were leading by 2 goals. Once again Torbinsky was the main man at Chesterfield, getting the Man of the match honour along with a goal and an assist. He practically done everything for the side however Ait Fana chimed in with 2 assists which may prove a relief as Torbinsky isn't the only source of goals for our team Next up is Colchester United, who are two spots ahead of us in the league table
  15. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool managed a 0-0 draw against Chelsea in the local derby at Anfield, we created the more chances yet had less possession but all for the brilliance Cech we would have scored... As noted earlier, RVP is out for extended period so Jefferson Farfan came in as his replace and Jose Bosingwa has replaced Uchida in the starting line up due to his good form from the bench Although Farfan didn't score, he got the man of the match award which can only spell something positive for the Reds Next up is Fulham at Craven Cottage
  16. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Made another article on my exploits as Liverpool manager, this time, its the impact of the loss of RVP on our team http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?t=60950&page=47
  17. Re: EC2933 Reporting Thread Damage to Reds title hopes; RVP out for an extended period Robin Van Persie looks worse for wear after the Reading encounter Liverpool’s worst fears have been realized when the manager Glory Days announced that Robin Van Persie would be out for an ‘extended period of time’ in order to recover from a broken cheekbone suffered in the Reading match. It was rather ironic that in the very game that Van Persie was injured, he showed the quality and class that would be missing in the team with the Dutch spearhead. Incisive, determined and vision were all the things that described RVP’s recent run of form which ran alongside Liverpool’s return to good league form after an awful start to the season which saw the Reds 1 draw in the first 3 games, however the tide has changed and good results against fellow promotion favorites Blackburn, Tottenham and Reading have lifted Liverpool up to 6th place. But the loss of Van Persie will be a blow but the question is now whether Liverpool can cope with the loss of their star performer. The rumours floating around the media suggest that without a recognized striker, the Reds could potentially play a false (no.9) however more realistic viewers of Anfield suggest that there will be either a change in formation to adjust to the change or a reliance on two unfavorable options, either the wayward Jefferson Farfan who has scored a goal this season but has missed everything but the barnyard door or the unproven Karim Ait Fana who was brought in by Glory Days at the start of his regime or even a possible pairing of the two. Either way it will be an interesting few weeks for Liverpool as they will face a sterling test against Chelsea at Anfield, Fulham away and reigning Premier League Champions Derby County in the league cup, the real test for manager Glory Days might not be whether he can cope without RVP but how well he can cope without him.
  18. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool win 2 on the trot with a 2-0 win over Reading, new boys RVP and Coentrao scored, good win for us (eventhough we had less chances at goal, there were all on target) Guardado with his first assist while RVP provided his 5th But the headline is that the win comes at a cost with RVP being injuried with a fractured cheekbone for 4 weeks, he's been the main man at Liverpool scoring and providing assists and when we finally look like we are going on a good run of games we lose him the pertinent question is whether we can still succeed without him? Time will tell but for the time being we will look for someone to replace our main striker We have a few tough games ahead though, with Chelsea at home, Fulham away then Gary Mack's Derby in the cup, interesting times ahead
  19. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield slumped to their 3rd loss in a row with 2-1 loss to fellow strugglers Barnsley, real concern with 4 losses in the last 5 league games. the only satisfaction that I've had had is that we have created chances its just that we haven't converted them, need to do better, we're up against fellow strugglers Southend, both teams with nothing to lose
  20. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread I'm looking at offers for Denys GARMASH (CM) Rating: 87 Age: 23 Looking for same position, similar age and rating as Garmash however since my team is currently in a little debt would need some money in order to make the deal go through feel free to PM me or put a bid in
  21. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN Liverpool 3 Blackburn 1 Glory Day's Liverpool have risen to the challenge beating fellow promotion favourites Blackburn 3-1. Great performance for the Reds with Cambiasso, Krancjar and Wendt scoring with RVP getting 2 assists. The growing pressure as Liverpool manager is temporarily lifted after a lucky 2-2 draw against old team Southend United. Dropped big names Nesta and Farfan due to poor form and promoting Krancjar and Djorou, Krancjar rose to the occassion and has impressed me. Good perfromance and hopefully we can start on the right track Next up is Reading away
  22. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 1 Rotherham 2 Chesterfield's erratic league continues with a 2-1 loss to Rotherham, Borini and Park Chu Young from the penalty spot sealed our fate with De Silvestre equalizing only for us to lose the match. I was hoping that our midweek cup win would boost our effort in the league but not to be...after 6 games, we are on 2 wins and 4 losses. not a great start but we will be boosted by the long awaited return of Bolatti who will provide cover for the back 4, Miantias played admirably in his place but we needed to get Bolatti back into the fold Next up is Barnsley away, so I may want to look into making some changes to the side with some of the fringe players performing well in mid week
  23. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread English Cup Round 1 Bury 2 Chesterfield 4 A shock win for Chesterfield over Division 2 Bury, didn't see this win coming but I'm surprised at how our team performed. Pretty much played my fringe team in the game, thought we didn't have a hope of a win but was in a state of shock for a moment. Best win as Chesterfield manager so far, Addae gave Bury the early lead but Ait Fana equalized 2 minutes later through a penalty. We dominated for half an hour, man of the match Douglao scored a screamer and Kone held off defenders to score in the top corner. We lead 3-1 at half time. Bury pegged one back but Smolov completed the upset win. The starting XI will have to be on notice as this game showed our team has some depth and this gives us our first away win of the season. Next up is Rotherham at home
  24. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Dagenham 3 Chesterfield 2 First off congrats to wozlives on the win, well played mate. Secondly our horrible away form continues with a 3-2 loss but what is more concerning is that we conceded 5 goals in our last 2 games which is simply not good enough. I feel we have the creative ilk to score but we need a tight back 4 in order to win, Wendt had an absolute shocker being accountable for at least 2 goals conceded and captain Mykhalyk who is usually reliable had a bad game as well. We need to find our best back 4 and work with it but I thought that my back 4 that I had would be the best however may need to review that if we have another few games like that. Paloschi and Garmash both scored being assisted by Torbinsky which is good to see and another good piece of news is that Lima has returned back from suspension, the returning De Silvestre played well in a game where we didn't play our best football. Next game is an English cup match against Bury, which will be difficult to say the least
  25. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 4 - Accrington Stanley 2 A six goal thriller which ended with Chesterfield getting the 3 points. Hat trick hero Paloschi showed what a bit faith can do for you, after being beaten by Lima for the lone striker role last season he showed his class, scoring with his head, foot and the penalty spot, Elksen scored the other goal. Although we lacked a cutting edge in the last game against Bournemouth, I thought that we created enough chances to be threatening and we were going in the right direction and I'm glad that's what happened Next up wozlives' Dagenham
