  1. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- SPURS AND FULHAM FREE!! Looks like my hard work at Southend has yielded some fruit, FSG have offered me the job at Liverpool, Tough decision to make since i had built towards something at Southend, will take a few days to decide my fate
  2. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- SPURS AND FULHAM FREE!! Cardiff 3 - Southend 3 Absolutely gutted with a draw, we were leading by 2 goals with 15 minutes to go, switched a more defensive tactic then conceded 2 goals in the space of 3 minutes (86th and 88th respectively). Southend played so well in the first 75 minutes with goals to captain Giggs (7th minute) and Ruben Micael with Cardiff city getting one back. Sam then glanced a header to give Southend a 3-1 lead but that's wen the collapse began. Good signs for next season but still disappointing to throw away a win like that Next up is Stockport County
  3. Re: English Championship 8888 Discussion Thread Wolves continue their run into the English Shield Quarter Finals, only been in the job for 2 games but a great result for us. A game which had everything, goals, sending offs and a rising of a young talent on the big stage. Wolves won 3-1 against Millwall, Kerim Frei with a double and Rosicky chimed in with a goal, Holtby had 2 assists and Ben Afra got an assist. Millwall had two sent off while Fernando Torres got himself sent off Into the next round against Rotherham Up next though is Stoke City
  4. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- SPURS AND FULHAM FREE!! Southend United is open to listen to offers for promising Brazilian defensive midfielder Carlos Casemiro, looking for a winger/attacking midfielder or alternatively some cash as well as players Feel free to PM me or put in an offer
  5. Re: English Championship 8888 Discussion Thread Wolves picked up their first win under manager Glory Days 2-0 over Wigan. Ruiz started things off and Xabi Alonso finished it with a nice free kick goal, unfortunately Rozenhal picked up an injury and he's out for at least 3 games Next up is Millwall in the Championship Shield comp 4th round
  6. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- SPURS AND FULHAM FREE!! Congrats Garymack on a well deserved premiership, sooner or later we will meet again as rivals in the Premier League =P My love affair with beating Liverpool continues with a 1-0 victory at Roots Hall Stadium with Southend, although this season hasn't had many highlights, this was certainly one of them. Gianluca Curci was an absolute colossus and man of the match, keeping out efforts from Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane, especially the opening minute drilled shot and a 26th minute diving header which could have easily broke the deadlock but Curci was determined to keep a clean sheet. To our credit, we created chances by stretching the Liverpool defence and beautiful cross from Sam to Ruben Michel's head gave Southend the lead and ultimately the 3 points This result means that Southend has reached the holy 40 point threshold and should be in the Championship next season where we can hope for better things but for now we celebrate my finest win as Southend manager Next up is Cardiff City, away from home
  7. Re: English Championship 8888 Discussion Thread Hey all, I'm Glory Days and I have taken over Wolves, with the looks of things, they have a dynamite team Challenging for the title is necessary but if anyone is interested in doing deals, feel free to PM me or put in a bid
  8. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield were destroyed 4-0 by Brighton Hove Albilon, Rojo was sent off at the 8th minute and pretty much ruined any chance of a victory. Despicable tackle that got what it deserved, don't know if I will select him for the rest of the season
  9. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- SPURS AND FULHAM FREE!! Southend dominated for large parts of the match against Fulham at Craven Cottage, but two early goals from Fulham through Eto and Hamsik in the 3rd and 9th minute respectively. A mountain of possession later, Giggs finally broke Southend's duck with a nice give and go with Welliton, then Sidney Sam continued his fine run of scoring form with another pacy run down the wing and finish to equalise in the 64th minute, giving both teams a share of the points. Pav had an opportunity to give Southend all three points from a spot kick but missed. I'm beginning to feel like the "draw specialist" Alex McLeish, not being able to attain three points. More importantly, we're 7 points from the drop zone and a win in any of our final 4 games will secure of Div 2 status. Next up is Liverpool On a side note, could the setup please save Leeds United before all their players are gone and becomes another Norwich City? Leeds have a strong side but without a manager, their prized assets are going to be taken away by externals
  10. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield recorded third win on the trot with a 4-2 victory over Shrewsbury Town, enigmatic striker Lima and Mohamadou Diarra both scored braces to help secure a timely victory for the financially strife Chesterfield. In other news Glad to get a deal done, with money. Elkeson is one for the future whilst Cristoforo is geared for a rise in the near future. Still looking to get deals done, with anyone is interested PM me or put in a bid
  11. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Southend United secured a vital 2-0 win over an unmanaged Norwich City, two of the Brazilian contingent, Danilo and Jucieli scored to give the Southsiders a much needed win. However Danilo came down with an injury with a torn hamstring which ends his season. Southend United are currently 36 points, 7 points away from the drop zone but need 4 points in the final 5 games, which allows a little margin for error. Next up is Fulham who have stars like Ozil, it will be another difficult challenge
  12. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Southend recorded another draw against 2nd place Birmingham, quiet an even game with Birmingham City grabbing the early lead. After that Southend came to life and Danilo scored a late, late equaliser to get a point, Giggs with the assist. Ruben Michel got an minor injury and out for at least a match On other news, glad to secure another Japanese playmaker . Saw some video of him and I was impressed at his passing and agility, went from Kagawa's old club to Nurnberg, hopefully he can have a similar impact to Kagawa at Dortmund. Next up is table topping Man Utd
  13. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Southend United recorded another win and we're on a 2 games winning streak right now. 2-1 over unmanaged Coventry City, Welliton and Pav scored on either side of Taylor's goal. Currently on 31 points, need at least 40 to secure a place in Division 2. Next up is 2nd placed Birmingham, which is going to be a tough ask In other news, very pleased to secure another 2 big names to the club Highly talented central defender who is touted for a transfer to Inter Milan in real life, beat off competition from Man City, Ipswich Town to get him. Previously had him at Man United and Leeds and he was a consistent and reliable defender and he will be the rock at Southend Great value for Denilson, although went back to Brazil to get his head on straight, still at Arsenal and he's valued 7.5 million at my club while payed 5.35 million. And he is an insurance policy for the aging Ryan Giggs
  14. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! I would personally be for recruiting new managers to revive the setup, I came back to the setup to help revive a former great team in Southend and I take pride in rebuilding a side with the added challenge that there is competition to find talent in the setup (without Ronaldo and Messi being immediately available from externals) I take pride in rebuilding a side and another challenge of being a manager is to be pragmatic with their side and if you are deficient in one area then, change your formation to mask it rather than an unmanaged sides in order to raid them of their assets
  15. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Hi everyone, I'm Glory Days and I've taken over Chesterfield. We recorded a draw in my opening game, Lima and Ait-Fana with the goals, but our goal machine Lima is out for at least a match. Chesterfield are in debt, so feel free to look at Chesterfield, put in a bid or PM me (looking for Player exchanges plus money to get out of debt) There's already been interest in Sigurdsson, so feel free to have a look. Im looking to do some deals
  16. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Nice win for Southend to jump out of the final 3 with a 3-0 win over manager-less Shrope, a brace for the Pav and a goal for Sidney Sam who is becoming a bargain transfer over the rubbish Giuly Next up is Coventry City, hoping to pull away further from relegation On a side note, nice to see pg7772a back on the forums
  17. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Southend United grinded out a 1-1 draw with 3rd place Millwall, with Schurrle opening the scoring in the 4th minute and Welliton made a timely equalizer on 27 minutes, however the sending off of Strootman stole the show with a vicious two footed tackle. In the post match press conference with manager Glory Days, he felt happy with solidarity point but thought that this was one that got away
  18. Re: EC2933 Reporting Thread Southend United Daily Ryan Giggs: “I believe that we can beat relegation” English Football Legend Ryan Giggs proclaimed that he believed that Southend would be able to beat relegation again in a recent press conference. He attributed their new found belief as a result of their new manager Glory Days who has instilled a confidence in the team which they didn’t have last season, as they barely scrapped through the relegation battle. Southend United had endured a horrid season with a run of 10 defeats in a row and 14 games without a win, constant criticism by the media and fans alike being dubbed “the retirement village for footballers” and they sat dead last after 19 games with 12 points. However since Glory Days has taken over the reins, they have enjoyed a run of 11 points from a possible 18 (equal 4th best in the league) and have gone from the bottom of the table to 16th position, 1 point above relegation, a far cry from their predicament 6 games ago. Along with a change in form, there was a change in personnel with the likes of Niang, Ambrosini and Shevchenko being shipped out while Welliton, Sidney Sam and Danilo came in to replace them. Youthful exuberance, pace and stamina are key factors in Glory Day teams and Southend United are still in progress of changing their identity but signs are positive. Giggs spoke of the solidarity of the squad in facing another relegation battle and what an honour it was to wear the captain’s armband “We had been in this position before last season and we got through it but now with the boss (Glory Days) giving us structure and belief, I believe that beating relegation isn’t a daunting task as it was last season. I am very honoured to represent Southend till the end of my playing career and lead from the front” Southend will have their backs to the wall when they play promotion chasing Millwall who are still in strong contention for automatic promotion spots.

  21. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Glory Days revolution at Southend United continues with a refreshing of the current squad I'm quite pleased with my transfer business: Ex Rotherham keeper to replace the aging Storari who has been a great servant for the club. Curci is 26 and 88, so there is no loss of quality but a decrease in age and value so a win in my eyes Used Ambrosini in this deal, which will reduce my wage bill by 15k (for just one player!) and Ambrosini wasn't playing well for me and I needed and a defensive midfielder to shield the back 4, so a positive!! I was surprise at the lack of interest in this player, who in real life is been sought after by Barcelona and Arsenal. But his inclusion will be a shot in the arm, as we needed a central defender who can play as LB as well. Good, good deal in my eyes Next up is promotion chasing Millwall, which will not be an easy task
  22. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Cheers mate
  23. Re: EC2933 Discussion thread- GOOD TEAMS FREE SO COME JOIN!!!!! Hey everyone, back on the forums after university induced break from SM but now i'm semi-back (since exams are still in progress) with the struggling Southend United Previously managed Man Utd and Leeds United on this setup, when I had Leeds, I had the greatest respect for Southend (a small team who made div 1 from div 3) now they were doomed to get relegated from div 2 (20th in div 2) I shipped out some of the elder statesmen (Southend was beginning to look a retirement home) and brought in some fresh legs. My goal this season is to avoid relegation and reduce the towering wage bill which is 700k a game!! not great for a team that has a smallish stadium and barely any revenue coming in 6 games into the job, 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss (to Sgt Fury's QPR which eats me up inside ) but a good draw against Sheffield Wednesday, after Giggs produced a piece of magic to salvage a point and in relegation, every point counts
