  1. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread Leeds United Daily Young and El Zhar arrive at Elland road, Korean international Jin Kim leaves Leeds United have welcomed the post season signings of former England international Luke Young and young Morrocan winger Nabil El Zhar whilst Jin Kim has returned back to Korea after only one season at the West Yorkshire club. The arrivals of Young and El Zhar are a positive sign from manager Glory Days that he intends to continue the success of last season after being promoted from Division 3 through the play-off position. Luke Young joins the Whites after spending two seasons in Germany, Spain and Italy, the maligned fullback moved from the Villians as a bit part exchange for Ever Bangera from Valencia however he found life hard in Spain and at the end of the season enquired for a move elsewhere. A transfer to German Giants Bayern Munich seemed like a big move for a man that was often not seen as a big name to the club however he found first team opportunities scarce and after a well reported spat between Jurgen Klinsmann he was prepared to move again. After half a season in Italy, Young pined for a move to return back to England. Although there was interest from Transmere Rovers and Carisile United, Leeds United eventually won the signature of the verteran fullback "Leeds are a great club with a great history and with the assurance of first team football and a push for Premier league promotion, there was nowhere else in wanted to be" Young is seen as the systematic replacement for Dong Jin Kim, after the Korean international wanted to return home after a less than eventfull time at Elland road. Although he secured a first team spot under manager Glory Days, life in England was beginning to take its toll on himself and his family "My wife and I have had a hard time here in England, the weather hasn't been very good but our time here hasn't been all bad but I wanted to return home after a while and the manager respected my decision" The arrival of young livewire Nabil El Zhar from Valencia for a reported fee of 750k and Enoch Showunmi had signalled the intent of Leeds United in adding pace into their side. Leeds beat off interest from Darlington to secure their man who can play on the wing or in a more advanced role up front.
  2. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread LEEDS UNITED FLY THROUGH TO DIVISION TWO After months of speculation to the well being and competitive of Leeds United however fans can celebrate with promotion into Division two and brighter things coming on the horizon. At the close of the season, Leeds were in the dire straits after losing their last two games and with the injury to talisman Steven Pieniaar, the prospect of promotion was all but a fleeting dream for fans. Leeds barely scrapped in to the promotion play off losing 4-3 to Division 3 champs Barnsley on the last day, dropping into 6th place. The Peacocks faced high finishing Nottingham forest, a double from Nemeth, goals to Benyanoun and Zamora sealed a stunning 4-2 victory for the Whites. That set the stage for an explosive Division 3 playoff final against QPR at Wembely. QPR manager Sgt Fury publically displayed his confidence in promotion however Leeds had other ideas, spectacularly dispatching of the Rangers in a demoralising 4-0 result. A brace to returning hero Pieniaar, Benayoun and Semshov showed the quality which put them as favourites to qualify into Division two.
  3. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread My condolences to Sgt Fury for a great match, funny things happen in football but this result was no fluke. All the best for QPR in the next season!

  5. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread Hartlepool 1 - 4 Leeds United Goals to on-loan Aissati, Zamora, Robinson and Cisse sealed another comfortable victory for the whites, whilst a solidaritary goal from Mignani gave Hartlepool some respectability Leeds United showed another strong performance against Hartlepool to suggest that they may have a strong push at promotion this season, whilst Hartlepool falls the 16th spot. The match saw the debut of Irish international John O'Shea and on loan central defender Mikel San Jose, but a noticable shift to a 4-1-2-2-1 formation saw the likes of veteran English winger Andy Robinson start the game. The game started at quiet a pace with both sides tussling for the ball in the opening 20 minutes. Quick thinking from Leeds veteran keeper Enckleman prevented a brilliant snapshot from Collins in the 20th minute, however it was Leeds United who took the ascendency in the match through a lovely volley from on loan from Manchester City midfielder Aissati. The former U21 Netherlands international showed some the class which suggested why he was brought to Manchester City in the first place. Leeds could have doubled their lead in the 27th minute however Robinson screwed his shot wide of the mark, but newly signed frontman Bobby Zamora didn't make the same mistake finding himself some space and slotting it in from 15 yards to give Leeds a 2-0 lead. Van Jik heroics prevented another Leeds goal, doing enough to turn away a brilliant header by Nemeth. The second half began with a lovely burst through the middle by Zamora only his first touch let him down and provide a comfortable stop for Van Jik. At the other end, Enkelman was doing his part stopping Boyd who burst through the reguard only to be stopped by the quick thinking of the Leeds keeper. Andy Robinson put the result beyond all doubt, by recieving a ball from the left and curling it in from 25 yards, showing the Leeds faithful why he was chosen to start. Hartlepool striker Magnani gave the pools some hope of a revival with a stunning header into goal, however Leeds captain Cisse put all worries to a rest with his seventh goal of the season. Manager Glory Days was reportly happy with the result "Thought we really took it to Hartlepool and its positive when you see things come together like that. But we need to continue to put our heads down and push for a promotion spot
  6. Re: English Championship 2933 Reporting thread Leeds United welcome changes to team Leeds United have welcomed the signings of Steven Pieniaar, Yossi Benayoun, Jon O'Shea, Bobby Zamora and Sascha Riether. With the bringing in of the new brigade, there were noticable changes to the team's make-up. The departures of team captain Daniel Van Buyten and young Argentine livewire Jose Sosa returned to Bayern Munich, Anthony Reveillere to Lyon, Souza Robert to Palmerias has come under heavy criticism from the media and fans alike. However manager Glory days believes that this is for the team's long term benefits "Our team needs to grow in order to succeed and that is what I am trying to achieve with these changes. Although the changes may not be noticable in the short term the long term benefits should be brighter
  7. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread Leeds United have annouced that they have placed as many as 7 top line stars on the transfer list. The likes of young Argentinian Jose Sosa, Daniel Van Buyten, Anthony Reveillere, Roman Adamov, Brazilian striker Souza Robert and Korean international Dong-jin Kim are on the transfer list. Manager Glory Days explains the reason for this bizarre occurance "We are just testing the waters to see the market value of our players, but if there are any good offers for our players, we will accept it as we are trying to rebuild my side" The Leeds manager has encouraged bit part exchanges are acceptable as well, as long as they are not ludicrious offers for his players.
