  1. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Some risers to report at Chesterfield! After Cork's shock arrival to Chesterfield, he has transitioned well into squad and his subsequent rise helps us with depth in the midfield and right back position which can only help the team. A long awaited rise of Adam Lallana is welcome as we are missing Ekici for the next few games and his equalising goal helped us grab an all important point. I think that Lallana is capable of an even bigger rise in the future but his creativity and pace along with positional change which enables him to play of the right of the midfield will improve our team The most surprising rise for Antonelli especially after I tried to sell him numerous times with no luck. I'm glad I held onto him and his rise will cushion the loss of our other 88 rated wingback De Silvestri who moved to West Ham but now our squad is looking stronger.
  2. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 1 Birmingham 1 Chesterfield's extends their unbeaten run to 8 games and a fortunate result for us where we dominated possession but it was essentially sterile domination with little or no chances in the whole game with only one chance in the first half! Credit to Birmingham who set up so that we couldn't get any opportunities at goal and they carved out more opportunities than we did.
  3. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread QPR 1 Chesterfield 3 The good times continue at Chesterfield with a 3-1 over QPR. This win extends our unbeaten record to 8 games and we have reached the dizzying heights of 3rd place. Chesterfield had to make a few changes with a season ending injury to Granat and Ekici's suspension, Lallana and Koo made a rare first team appearance and they performed impressively, especially Koo. The Spireites made their intentions known from the opening kick off with a quick fire goal from Marcos Rojo in the opening minute of the match, QPR stuck back through Ya Konan however Chesterfield but the result beyond doubt through goals to Sulejmani and Koo. A bit of transfer news to report as well The offer was too good to turn down and eventhough we lose one of our most consistent players, his money will keep us sustained for a little while yet. Its just part and parcel of being a small club Really glad to get this deal done with Afron, we revamp our fullbacks position, his versatility to play on both flanks will help tremendously and financially he's worth $6.7 million, so will at least make back what we put in which is good news
  4. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 2 Tranmere Rovers 1 Chesterfield continued their unbeaten run with a remarkable comeback win against Tranmere Rovers. The Spireites were up against it with Mehmet Ekici recieving a red card for a elbow to John Walter's face in the 23rd minute then Rover's Salihovic free kick gave Tranmere the early lead. However Italian striker Alberto Paloschi grabbed the equaliser and then another Italian Luca Antonelli took on the defence with a surging run into the box and shot to complete the comeback. But the win has come at a very heavy price with new boy Vladimir Granat sustained a season ending injury after playing brilliantly since his arrival along with Ekici's three game ban We will be up against it in the next few matches Next up is QPR
  5. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Barnsley 1 Chesterfield 2 Chesterfield pulled out a very unlikely win with 2 goals in the last 10 minutes, courtesy of our new signing Koo Ja Cheol. The South Korean international was recently signed and has made an instant impression with a stunning brace. Good game Steve, commiserations on losing with the last kick of the game. The Spireites maintain their 6 game unbeaten run and the current form leaders of Division Three. An injury to De Silvestri resulted in Manitias being shift to the right fullback, while we welcomed Leon Britton back into the first XI. Next up is Tranmere "Stoke" Rovers
  6. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Good game steve and it was an awful loss to take especially since you had the better of the chances in the game. It would be a great loss for the 7046 setup but I hope you stick it out and revel in another great challenge for a great manager in the game
  7. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Some transfer news to report for Chesterfield A bit of an unknown quantity, soccermanager hasn't even updated that he has moved to Mainz but he has played every minute since moving and he was worth a punt at 130k
  8. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 2 Ipswich 2 Chesterfield continued their 5 game unbeaten run with a respectable 2-2 draw against Ipswich. On paper, Ipswich were by far the better side however we showed our resilience by hitting the front twice however Ipswich showed their determination by equalising on both occasions. We made a few changes due to injury and suspension with Giannis Manitias replacing Leon Britton (injury) and Adam Lallana replaced Denys Garmash (suspension). Manitias gave us the perfect start with a lovely opening goal, then Ipswich equalised through Hooper. We took the lead once again through Luca Antonelli only for Andy Carroll to equalise and grab a point. Unfortunately De Silvestri picked up a minor knock but Britton and Garmash will return in the starting fray. In what has been an eventful week in terms of transfers for Chesterfield A great capture for his and I have kept my eye on Koo for a while. He is a versatile player who can play on the flanks or behind the striker and in real life, he is currently being used as CM which is where he plays best for his country. A solid 87 defender to add to our ranks, I had some stiff competition for him with Colchester putting in a good bid but I'm glad I got my man! Douglao has recently moved to the middle east and will at least have a -2 drop, so all in all a good move for us. Next up is 6th placed Barnsley
  9. Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread The revolution at Notts County continues with my ideal being to minimise my wage bill and the number of players at the club A noticable number of departures So far 5 more departures from Notts County to help with my transfer kitty and to reduce my wage bill A quality signing to stamp out my intentions of the team, Herrera was a key part of our season, playing 31 games when he was here on loan from Sunderland but now we have sealed a permanent deal for him. He is another classy midfielder who can provide a large amount of creative flair to my side
  10. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 2 Dagenham 0 Chesterfield grab 3 wins in a row, thanks to a 2-0 win over rivals Dagenham. In a game where Chesterfield dominated possession, we made the most of our opportunities with the returning Alberto Paloschi scoring the opening goal through another Sulejmani assist. Dagenham's Alcaraz forced a penalty by a badly mistimed tackle on Sulejmani, new boy Mikel San Jose converted the penalty and I think that we have found our new pen taker! We jump into the play-off positions for the first time in the season but more importantly we are 3 points away from the hallowed 40 points for safety Next up is Swindon Town
  11. Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread Yeah thanks Brian, Notts County has a massive squad and it would be a good opportunity to see what the fringe players can do and I will be looking to do deals as well Already had enquiries about Martins Indi and Illaramendi but they are central to my plans moving forward and it will take a sensational offer to get either of them to move
  12. Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread Notts County survive on the last day of the season and stay in Division Two, thanks to a 1-0 win over Sheffield United. If we had lost it was certain relegation for us but Stijin Schaars made it certain that we would still remain in Division 2. I will be looking to rebuild the side and try to get a mid table finish. We bid farewell to retiring captain Stiliyn Petrov and Sergey Semak. Although I haven't been at the club for very long, Petrov has been at the club for 5 seasons. Stiliyn Petrov © )DM/CM Age:34 Matches: 122 Goals: 11 Assists: 13 Avg performance: 6.75 Sergey Semak Mid Age: 37 Matches: 17 Goals: 5 Assists: 2 Avg performance: 7.24 We thank them for their services for our club and their illustrious careers in the game.
  13. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Norwich City 1 Chesterfield 2 Chesterfield continued with their winning ways thanks to a 2-0 over Norwich. A surprise return to fitness for Fedor Smolov helped us a grab the early 1-0 lead, only for Lens to equalise in the 38th minute but then Mehmet Ekici continue his superb scoring form with 4 goals in 3 games. This win pushes us up to 7th place and next us we play fellow surprise packets Dagenham
  14. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield turned in a nice little profit when I swapped a player who cost my team $300k into $1.6m and will keep us in the green for a little while.
  15. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Peterborough 0 Chesterfield 1 Chesterfield getting back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Peterborough. After being outplayed by bottom side Leicester City, the Spireites needed to respond and that's just what they did. I made some personnel changes with Smolov in with Lallana out due to a bad performance against Leicester and Sulejmani went back into the midfield. If we drew today, it would have been one of those games that got away but I was relieved that we got the three points today. Mehmet Ekici backed up a great performance with another important goal and he's return to form is a welcome surprise. An interesting situation we have now with both our line leading strikers Paloschi and Smolov both out with short term injuries and will both return in 2 days but wil probably not be right for the Norwich game. I will have to see if I can find a make shift forward for that game but only time will tell what I will do
  16. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread British midfielder Jack Cork causes shock by moving to Spireites Shocker: Jack Cork makes a surprise move to Chesterfield In what has been an exciting week at Chesterfield, former U21 English International Jack Cork has chosen to move to Chesterfield instead of reuniting with former club, Bristol Rovers. It was widely expected that Cork was going to Gary Mack’s revolution at Bristol Rovers however he surprised everyone by picking Chesterfield for $3.8 million. Cork in his press conference shed some light with his decision Cork, 24 has played 24 games in the last 3 seasons with Derby County and Bristol Rovers. He is the third British player to arrive in Chesterfield, although he plays predominately in defensive midfield, his versatility of playing right full back and central midfield would keep him in contention in a Glory Days side. Cork will be officially unveiled to the Chesterfield faithful when they play Leicester City.
  17. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Completely gobsmacked that I got Cork who I have coveted for a while instead of Garymack. I thought that he would be moving to Bristol Rovers and even asked him if he wanted to report the transfer but he was a good fella and said he would go for other players. I know I would have been really annoyed if my transfers were going to another side when I bid more than they did.
  18. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Just completed my article on my big recent signing Mikel San Jose http://forum.soccermanager.com/showthread.php?p=2684278&posted=1#post2684278 and can be found on the ec7046 blog as well http://ec7046-blog.blogspot.co.uk/
  19. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Chesterfield breaks club record to snare Spanish San Jose All smiles as Mikel San Jose sealed his move to Chesterfield Young Spanish Central Defender Mikel San Jose was officially unveiled to the public as a Chesterfield player this morning after a torrid battle with fellow Division three rivals Birmingham City vie for the Spaniard’s signature. The Spireites broke their own club record which saw veteran Taras Mykhalyk and young Danish fullback Jonas Knudsen move in the opposite direction, the deal accumulated to $11.7 million breaking their previous record signing held by Michael Ballack for $7.8 million. The signing of the much coveted Spanish defender San Jose represented quite a coup for the little Yorkshire side with as many as seventeen clubs monitoring San Jose with the likes of Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth interested but only Chesterfield and Birmingham registering an official interest. Manager Glory Days couldn’t hide his delight in securing the former Aston Villa star and was open in his admiration of the young man San Jose will have big shoes to fill with the departure of former captain Taras Mykhalyk in the opposite direction to Racing. Fan favourite and former captain Mykhalyk had played 115 games for Chesterfield and is known for his uncompromising style and was a key part of Chesterfield’s impressive promotion in season 7, not missing a single regular season game.
  20. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Hey everyone, I was just wondering with the finances with my Chesterfield side has a full team wage of $479,715 when I play away games, the finances say I pay $479,715 but during home games its over $900k (purely for wages and not including ground manintenance? Can anyone explain why that is? I thought you just needed to pay your own team's wages, any light on it would be appreciated
  21. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Some rare transfer news from Chesterfield Very, very pleased to get San Jose into the club and win the bidding war with Birmingham City! He was my top target coming into the new season and he fits into my transfer philosophy! Will probably start for me against Leicester City
  22. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Southampton 0 Chesterfield 0 A sound 0-0 draw against Southampton today at St Mary's Stadium. The Spireites just weren't on form today but thankfully neither were the Saints, Captain Bravo had a great game and helped us keep our clean sheet. After a run of bad form from Manitias, Antonelli slotted into the left wing back position while De Silvestri was moved to the right wing back position and Fedor Smolov came in for the injuried Alberto Paloschi. Next up is Leicester City at home
  23. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Plymouth Argle 2 Chesterfield 4 Three wins in a row for Spireites following our 4-2 win over Plymouth Argle. Former Plymouth player Miraleum Sulejmani silenced the home fans by scoring in the opening minute. Leon Britton extended our lead in the 37th minute, Plymouth's Kasaev replied back in the 43rd minute. Deny Garmash's long range effort and Alberto Paloschi's finish sealed the result while Plymouth's Drogba only lessened the deficit but to little avail. We rocketed up to 7th unfortunately Alberto Paloschi is out for 10 days. Next up is Southampton at home
  24. Re: English Championship 7046 Match Report/Tranfer Gossip Thread Spireites hit form with two on the trot against the big boys of Division Three Manager Glory Days impressed with their recent performances Chesterfield has registered two consecutive victories for the first time this season; the achievement is made all the more impressive by registering wins against proverbial title/promotion chasing sides of Division Three, AFC Bournemouth and Hull City. The results cap off an excellent run of games which included Derby County (2nd), Hull City (12th) and AFC Bournemouth (3rd) with Spireites grabbing six points from a possible nine. What makes the results even more impressive, they have achieved the wins without their leading creative player Mehmet Ekici who has been out injured and found another supplier of assists in Miraleum Sulejmani. The Serbian international who was Chesterfield’s marquee signing in the offseason, showed that he was capable of matching the hype which came with his arrival in the Spireite’s 3-1 win over Hull City. His direct running, intricate passing and superb finishing which eventuated with Sulejmani grabbing 2 assists and one goal along with the man of the match award. He continued his good form with another impressive performance against third placed AFC Bournemouth with one goal and an assist. A once maligned winger, manager Glory Days has been criticised for not using the Serbian enough but the last two performances have demonstrated that Glory Days knows exactly how to utilise a top talent like Sulejmani. Along with Sulejmani’s good performances, it has coincided with Italian striker Alberto Paloschi’s resurgence in scoring form. The Italian had recently suffered a loss of form which saw Russian Fedor Smolov given an opportunity to stake his claim for a starting spot but Paloschi has well and truly secured his starting spot with two impressive performances against two top opponents. Paloschi grabbed a brace against Hull City and a goal against Bournemouth. Manager Glory Days reflected on their two inspiring victories in the last week: In even more positive news, Chesterfield secured their first Spanish import Adrian Ortola who has impressed in the reserve grades at Barcelona and is waiting to be mentored by Captain Claudio Bravo. Chesterfield will face off against Miraleum Sulejmani’s former side Plymouth Argle who are struggling at the bottom of the table but will be motivated to be in front of the home fans and no doubt the Plymouth faithful will be showing their “support” to Sulejmani’s return after his unceremonious exit from the club.
  25. Re: English Championship 7046 Discussion Thread Chesterfield 3 AFC Bournemouth 1 Stunning result at Proact Stadium today where Chesterfield defeated Bournemouth 3-1. Good game Jharman and it was bad luck that you picked up two injuries on the day. A completely unexpected result, this upset is up there with the best games we have played in my time as manager. Bournemouth took the lead early on through Susaeta and I thought that they would roll over Chesterfield but Douglao's low shot kept us in the game. But Susaeta's sending off no doubt changed the game. Chesterfield started to get more possession and created more chances because of it. Manitias provided a rare assist to Paloschi who is currently in red hot scoring form. Sulejmani was again among the goals with another fine finish which gave us 3-1 lead and despite Bournemouth's many attempts at goal, we held firm and grabbed the points. The result puts us in an unexpected 9th place, 3 points off a play-off spot. This tough run has yielded some incredible results for us. Next up is relegation threatened Plymouth Arygle
