  2. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread Carlislie United 2 - 0 Yeovil A comfortable 2-0 win against Yeovil at Brunton Park saw them avoid the relegation zone by 3 points. The goals came from both loan signing strikers, Marc Janko and Ched Evans. They had possession of 66% on the pitch which show how good they are than their opponents. Yeovil started well in the first 10 minutes when Alex MANNINGER had to make a few saves. However, Carlislie were the one who went on to score the first goal in the 19th minute when Marc Janko thunders in an overhead kick. From then on, Carlislie started playing attacking football and had a couple of shots saved by Sander Boschker. It was the Man-of-the-Match Francisco Fernando who makes things difficult for the opponents as he bosses the midfield. It went 1-0 in the first half. 3 minutes after the break, Ched Evans put in Carlislie 2-0 who smack the ball past the despairing keeper after a poor clearance from the Yeovil defenders. Yeovil keeper once again had to help his defence by saving a few shots on target. Zoran TOSIC had the chance to extend the lead but his shot was denied by the near post. Another clear chance for Carlislie is saved which leaves the defence thanking the great reflexes of Sander BOSCHKER. Carlislie had an amazing 20 shots on target but was only denied by the on form Yeovil keeper. The match ended up 2-0. A much needed 3 points for the home side. When asked about the victory Dean said, "I'm impressed by the performance from the players. It has been a wonderful evening for all of us. I want to thank all the lads for this brilliant performance. They settled in very quickly and made a good debut for themselves. If they can keep up with this performance, I believe we can move up to the top 10."
  3. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread 'Carlislie United vs Yeovil Town Match Preview' New Carlislie United manager, Dean Bryant, will looking forward to make a good start in his first match at home ground against Yeovil. He is likey to make a huge change in the starting 11 as some of the usual starters are still struggling for full fitness. They will be without Kevin Phillip who is out with a broken ankle. Some of the new players are likely to make their debut. Alex Manninger, who is expected to filled in the post after the departure of Mart Poom. Loan signings Ched EVANS and Marc JANKO may partner each other up front while new signings German RIVAROLA, Loukas VYNTRA and Neven Subotic may start at the backline. The home crowd will be expecting a successful era under the new manager and will be looking forward for another victory at home ground against Yeovil. Dean said, "This is going to be my first real test as a manager. To be in charge for the first game at home ground is the best thing I could wish for. Advantages are there but we need to be careful and focus as there will be a lot of expectations from the fans."
  4. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread '10 Transfers in 2 days!' Only 2 days in charge, the new Carlisle manager, Dean Bryant, did not waste any time and started to bolster his squad by signing 9 players. These players are Gustavo VARELA, Francisco FERNANDO, Alex MANNINGER, Alfred N'DIAYE, Richard SUKUTA-PASU, Neven SUBOTIC, Lampros KONTOGIANNIS, Juan Carlos DE LA BARRERA and Loukas VYNTRA. A total of £29.5m is paid for these players. The manager has also made a loan signing Ched EVANS from Preston North End. When asked about the transfers he says, "It is important for me to bring in some players. When I first came here, there are about 6 or 7 senior players who are fit to play. I can't let those players who are not match fit play for the next game. There will be a risk of them getting injured after the match. As for the new players, I will see how they are progressing during training. Hopefully they are mentally and physically ready for the match against Yeovil."
  5. Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread 'Dean Bryant has become the new Carlisle United manager.' The new Carlislie United manager, Dean Bryant, today signed a long term contract with the club. This rookie manager seems excited to begin his career as the Carlisle United manager. In the press release, he told the SM times, "I'm really excited about the prospect to be the Carlisle manager. I want to thank the chairman for giving me the chance to manage the club. This could be the new chapter of my life and as this is my first time in club management, there will be a lot of things I need to learn. I know that this club is currently lying in the relegation zone. This will be a challenge for me. I hope under my guidance I wont disappoint the fans and help the club avoid relegation." However, this could be a bigger task for the rookie manager as the current squad looks depleted with more than half of the squad are not fully fit for their next game. When asked about the current squad, he said, "With injuries within the squad, I need to bring in some quality players who can help the club win games. The chairman has made it clear that I have his support in players' transfers. With the fund available, I can bolster and improve the squad. There are already a few names in my list. Negotiations are already in the process for some players. So I hope these transfers can be completed soon enough before our next game."
