  1. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby linked with Portsmouth Douglas Derby County are being linked with a move for Teixeira Douglas after Portsmouth board previously put the player on transfer before manager Nick Higgs joined the club. Douglas, 26, is under contract at Fratton Park until Season 21, but the former Huddersfield Town defender is said to be unsatisfied with his opportunity in the first team football at Pompey this season and has been in talks with the board for a quick solution. Rams manager Dean Bryant, who has previously work with Douglas at Charlton Athletic, has confirmed his interest to bring the Netherlands international to Pride Park. "I know Doulgas when we were at Charlton Athletic and he's the type of defender I'm looking for at the moment. He's strong in the air and someone who can be trusted at the back." Derby have already conceded ten goals in the season after four games and Bryant has admitted he needs to strengthen his backline. "We have strengthen much in the attack and midfield area in the pre-season but we have not looked into the defence yet and I think there's a need for us to invest on a new defender." With all the speculation, it is still unknown whether Doulgas is part of Higgs' plan as he prepares for his first match in charge against Colchester United this Wednesday.
  2. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Lost 3-4 to Northampton Town. Wakaso, Honda and Holtby scored for the Rams.
  3. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Notts County 2 - 5 Derby County Son on song Derby County striker Heung-Min Son scored four goals - including a superb 20-minute first half hat-trick - to end Notts County's prefect start in Season 20. All seven goals amazingly came in the first half with the opener came as early as fourth minute. Son nodded home his first goal for the Rams from Diego Capel corner. The South Korea international grabbed his second in the twentith minute before slotted the third four minutes later. Although the host pulled one back through Radamel Falcao penalty, they showed no sign of motivation to level the score as Son completed his fourth five minutes before break. Adebayor found the net two minutes later but the scoreline remained the same till the final whistle. Derby County moved to second behind current leaders Portsmouth with ten points from four games. Notts County, meanwhile, dropped to fourth with nine points.
  4. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County 3 - 2 Plymouth Argyle K. Honda (12'), (88') -----------------L. Podolski (11')-------------- Y. El Arabi (60') ----------------------A. Aquilani (48')------------- Honda stars as Rams triumph Keisuke Honda secured Derby County first three points in home ground with two goals in a 3-2 victory over nine men Plymouth Argyle. The visiting side saw two players were shown red card. The Japan international's performance was one, but not the only, reason why Derby have been enjoying life since their promotion from Division 4 as the Rams made it three matches unbeaten. Honda has now scored four goals in his three appearances, having netted a brace in the previous match at Port Vale. It was Di Natale who was shown the first marching order earlier in 28th minute. The hosts had twice trailed after goals from Lukas Podolski and Alberto Aquilani either side of a Honda equaliser in a compelling encounter at Pride Park. However, El Arabi levelled on the hour mark just after Derby made three substitutions. Ji-Sung Park, Heung-Min Son and Lewis Holtby provided that fresh legs but it the was latter who contributed to El Arabi equaliser. Holtby made the cross into the penalty area for El Arabi to head for his first goal since his permanent move from Manchester United. Plymouth were left with nine men in the 66th minute when Leighton Baines was shown his second yellow card after his mistimed challenge on Danilo. Knowing their huge advantage, Derby kept on pressing for the winning goal with Son had his header blocked by Diego Alves. The never-give-up effort gained its reward with two minutes to go, Danilo swung over a pinpoint cross and Honda snuck away from Jeremy Toulalan at the far post to nod in. Derby County moved up to fourth with seven points after three games while Plymouth Argyle sit in 10th place with four points.
  5. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby has completed the signing of these two players; Seung-Woo Ryu and Dominik Furman.
  6. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Port Vale 0 - 2 Derby County ------------------ Honda (25'), (57') Honda brace has Rams on track Honda celebrates his second goal Keisuke Honda double strikes secured Derby County their first league win in somewhat plausible performances against Port Vale. Derby County may have played two divisions below Port Vale last season but they showed no sign of being minnow towards their opponents. Derby dominated early in the first half with Miguel Torres and Heung-Min Son came close for the opening but David De Gea reacted well on both occasions. The visitors eventually went ahead in the 25th minute. Port Vale defence failed to clear the danger from a corner and Huntelaar managed to chest down the ball to Honda who skipped past a challenge by Cris Smalling before slotting home the first goal. Port Vale showed no improvement in the second half as Derby continue to outplay the home side with Riccardo Montolivo controlled much of the play in the centre park. Honda doubled the score three minutes before the hour mark. The Japan international picked up well from Luiz Danilo cross and hit the ball past the despair De Gea. The victory has put Derby County up to fifth in Division 3. Port Vale, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone after two defeats in two games.
  7. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Mlapa poised for Oxford switch Penial Mlapa is to complete a move from Derby County to Oxford United, pending the successful completion of a medical. The 22-year-old has been the subject of a transfer move away from Pride Park following the arrival of El Arabi and Heung-Min Son. He is set to undergo a medical at Oxford before completing a transfer to the Us, who has found in the former Germany Under-21 international the man they were looking for to replace departed Ruben Castro who joined Sheffield Wednesday last Monday. Details of the transfer have yet to be confirmed, but Mlapa appears likely to sign a permanent contract with Oxford. The German, who has featured in 36 games for Derby in his six seasons with them, is reported to have rejected a move to Monchengladbach. It has been confirmed that Derby County are still busy with their transfer business despite the start of Season 20, with the arrival of Legia Warszawa's highly-rated midfielder Dominik Furman is set to be finalised once the completion of his medical. The 21-year-old, who has been linked with numerous English clubs, is believed to have cost Derby County 6 million pound.
  8. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Rams keen to sign Barkley Derby County boss Dean Bryant has said he is interested in signing midfielder Ross Barkley from Swansea City, but has denied that a deal between the two clubs is close to being done. Bryant, whose Rams have brought in nine players during pre-season, said there was nothing to confirm as yet about the highly-sought player in recent weeks. Bryant, speaking at a news conference after their first league fixture against Birmingham City, said:"There is an interest in Ross Barkley but there's nothing to confirm at this moment. We are aware that we are not the only club interested in the player and Swansea new manager Eric Cantona has just recently joined the club. So it may take some time for him to settle down and make decision." It has been reported that Derby are facing competition with other five clubs for the highly-rated midfielder.
  9. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Is Serge Gnabry, Rodriguez Jese and 10 million good deal for Luke Shaw?
  10. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County 2 - 2 Birmingham City Capel present Derby with a point Diego Capel, who recently signed an extension four-seasons contract, helped Derby earn a 2-2 draw in their first fixture clash with Birmingham City at Pride Park with a brace. Both sides had a fair chances in the first ten minutes but it was Derby who almost got themselves an early embarrassment when Aly Cissokho's back pass to Diego Lopez almost went to their own net. Lopez missed his kick from the back pass but managed just in time to pounce on the ball before it crossed the line. Birmingham eventually went ahead in the 12th minute when Ciro Immobile collected a through ball by Alessandro Matri and smashed it past Diego Lopez. Derby made sure the visiting side could only celebrate for few minutes when they equalised the score three minutes later. Captain Klaas-Jan Huntelaar brought down a high ball and played it into the path of Capel. The Spaniard managed to get past Matija Nastasic and sneaked the ball into the net. Birmingham went ahead again four minutes before half time through Walter Gargano. The Blues looked set to hold onto the lead on the break, but Capel step in again to the rescue. Capel collected a pass from new signing Heung-Min Son and hit a powerful shot past Rui Patricio. After the break, both sides failed to deliver any real chances and the score followed till the final whistle.
  11. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County News Diego Capel has signed a new four-year contract extension with Derby County, the player and club have both confirmed. The 25-year-old midfielder's current deal at the Pride Park was due to end at the end of the current season, and in recent weeks it had been rumoured to be considering offer from Sporting CP. The situation had been an increasing concern for the Rams coach Dean Bryant, who had regularly encouraged the club and the player to agree terms. Capel was left on the bench in the friendly match at Wycombe Wanderers and was given some time to finalise the new contract. Derby soon released a club statement with more details of the agreement that ties him to the Division 3 side for the next four seasons. "Derby is proud to announce the extension of the contract linking Diego Capel with the club for four more seasons, until Season 23," the statement said. "I am truly delighted to be given another four seasons to wear Derby shirt," Capel added. "I have been here for very long time and I know this club has a great plan ahead. I want to be part of it. The club has signed new faces, quality ones and I am proud that the club is making a lot of efforts in building up a great team here." Capel joined Derby County in Season 10 for a club record of 20 million pound, and has since played 294 league games for the club, winning Division 4 and English Cup runner-up. The contract is reported to be worth 31k-pound-per-week. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derby County has rejected an offer from Tranmere Rovers for Lucas Melano. It has been speculated that Melano will be allowed to leave Pride Park with the arrival of El Arabi and Heung-Min Son could mean he may have to wait longer to breakthrough to the first team but Derby manager Dean Bryant has rubbish the talk and he revealed Melano has just signed a new long term contract. "Melano will be staying at Derby," Bryant said. "He recently just signed a new long term contract with us and this has proven he wants to stay here. The rumours of him want to move is absolutely ridiculous."
  12. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Montolivo and Son join Derby County Italy international midfielder Riccardo Montolivo and South Korean international midfielder Heung-Min Son have joined Derby County on a long-term contract in the club's biggest coup this pre-season. Montolivo, 28, and Son, 21, were part of a transfer swap with midfielder Jack Wilshere. The Korean forward has been a long-term target while Montolivo is regarded as Wilshere's replacement in the starting eleven and manager Dean Bryant said." We are extremely pleased to have signed two players in Wilshere's deal. Son is a great player and has the potential to develop to a world-class player. Montolivo, meanwhile, has a vast experience under his belt, with a proven quality at both club and international level. We have watched and admired both of them for some time as they will provide real quality in Derby side." "I have said throughout the pre-season that we have been working hard to bring in top quality players to this football club. We will definitely miss Wilshere's presence but Montolivo and Son will provide depth for our squad."
  13. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County News Division 3 side Derby County have announced the capture of Korea Republic international Ja-Cheol Koo from Rochdale for a fee believed to be around 10 million pound. The 24-year-old has put on pen to paper for The Rams until Season 23. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derby County appear to be edging closer to signing Liverpool forward Heung-Min Son, with the Korea Republic international's agent reportedly seen at the club's Pride Park stadium yesterday. It is reported that three players are involved in a deal between Derby County and Liverpool. 22-year-old Jack Wilshere, who has been attracting interest from a host of clubs in England, is set to be announced as Liverpool player today. In other part of the deal, Heung-Min Son and Italy international midfielder Riccardo Montolivo will be moving to the opposite direction. The Soccer Manager Times has also revealed that Derby County will receive a fee of five million pound as part of the swap. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derby County manager Dean Bryant says his club are not prepared in selling midfielder Lewis Holtby, while revealing his interest in taking Yoann Gourcuff as part of a swap for Holtby is now faded. Speculation in recent weeks has linked the talented German playmaker with a move to Preston North End or West Bromwich Albion, while other media this week has said that Manchester United and Stoke City have tabled their offers for Holtby. With the departure of Jack Wilshere to Liverpool is now closer to completion, Derby manager Dean Bryant said in The Soccer Manager Times that he is not prepared to lose another midfielder at present. "Due to the change of course in the transer market, Holtby is not available for sale," he said. "(Jack) Wilshere is leaving us so we don't think letting Holtby leave is a wise decision for our club."
  14. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread... Opinion on these please. Thanks. Holtby or Yoann Gourcuff + 11mil? Wilshere or Heung-Min Son + Montolivo?
  15. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County News Derby County have been active in the transfer window after landing Manchester United forward El Arabi earlier today and they have now completed another three signings with midfielder Jordan Graham, Porto defender Luis Rafa, Fiorentina striker Kenneth Zohore. 18-year-old Graham was without a club but a successful trail saw him with a 3-seasons contract. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shinji Okazaki says he is determined to fight for his place at Derby County despite the permanent addition of El Arabi from Manchester United. Okazaki has struggled to earn a regular spot in Dean Bryant's starting eleven last season and has been linked with a move to German side Mainz. "I'm going to try to win myself a place in the team and work hard to acheive that," Okazaki stated to The Soccer Manager Times. "There may have been some difficult moments, but I still have a contract to honor. I have never said that I want to leave." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- South Korea international midfielder Ja-Cheol Koo could be set for a move to Division 3 outfit Derby County after failing out of favour with Rochdale manager Warren Livesey. The 24-year-old arrived from Huddersfield Town in Season 13 for 4.8 million pound but has only played 35 league games for seven seasons and is desperate for regular first-team football. Livesey is reportedly happy to allow the Korea Republic to leave as he aims to free up some funds with the midfielder's contract expiring at the end of the current season. It is believed that a 10 million pound fee has been agreed between the two clubs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derby County manager Dean Bryant has slapped in 25 million pound minimum fee for Lewis Holtby. The German midfielder has been a subject of interest from Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion but Bryant is determined to keep the 23-year-old at Pride Park. It is reported that Preston North End has a bid of 15 million pound rejected, that is 10 million pound less than Derby asking price.
  16. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread El Arabi on verge of Derby move El Arabi wants a permanent move away from Old Trafford Youssef El Arabi is set for talks with Derby County today as he bids to secure a permanent move away from Manchester United. The Morocco striker is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season, and manager Niall Taylor is prepared to let him go. Sources have told SoccerManager that Derby County, who have recently won a promotion back to Division 3 following a relegation two seasons ago, are keen to keep El Arabi on permanent basis after a successful loan spell. El Arabi, who played a major part in Derby's recent success, has made clear that he needs regular first-team football and is concerned about being loaned out. He has not figured at all for Manchester United since moving from Swansea City back in Season 16. The striker told SoccerManager Times: "I am flattered by the effort and interest shown by Derby County. Since the season is over, it's clear that I have to make an important decision. I want to be at a club that can provide me many first team football." El Arabi has netted 13 goals and made 13 assists in 26 appearances for the Rams this season and has publicly stated his wish to make his Derby switch a permanent one.
  17. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Hah I still remember this graph. One of the most complicated yet brilliant I've seen here. It's really nice to see some of your works in the early years of this setup, brings back some good old memories. Wish I could review back all my match reports but all rotted in my old scapped laptop.
  18. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County sealed the Division 4 top spot with a trashing 5-0 victory over Blackpool!! My first silverware in EC106. Took me more than 4 years to achieve that! LOL Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored a double. Holtby, El Arabi and Wakaso got into the scoresheet as well. It was a nerve-wracking last week as we didn't earn any point in the previous 2 games.
  19. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County's unbeaten run of 14 games came to an end after the 0-1 defeat to Northampton Town.
  20. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread It all started in the mid season. As far as I can remember, Derby County were more than 10 points behind then-top place Oxford United. I once predicted we had a very slim chance of a promotion due to inconsistency in the league and an early exit from English Cup and English Shield. But with players like Mubarak Wakaso and Jan-Klaas Huntelaar, we managed to change our fortune and the 14 unbeaten league run proves that. With 5 games left in the season, anything can happen, from topping the table to play-off last spot. So it's still far from confirmed who will win Division 4.
  21. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Derby County moved up to the top spot in Division 4 after a superb 3-0 victory against Luton Town. Zapata, Wakaso and Huntelaar contributed in the scoresheet.
  22. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread A crucial 3 points in the exciting 4-3 victory against Hartlepool United. Wakaso, Holtby and Hunterlaar all got into the scoresheet.
  23. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Closing the gap with Division 4 current leaders Oxford United after beating them 5-1. El Arabi gabbed a brace with Keisuke Honda, Miguel Torres and Diego Capel got themselves in the scoresheet. Ruben Castro got the consolation goal for the host.
  24. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Dean Bryant steered Derby County to victory against Peterborough United. Derby County beat Peterborough United 3 - 2 in their Division 4 fixture. Torres scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance. Danilo and Wakaso were also amongst the goalscorers.
