  1. Re: My Time In EC 106 - A Collection Of Match Reports, Articles & Good Ol' Gossip

QPR Win / Velarone To Depart?

QPR won their second game on the trot to climb to 8th place on the table, but all the attention was on their manager Alessandro Velarone, whose shock resignation from the club is said to be merely a matter of time following his marriage to his girlfriend, actress Mamta Mohandas.

    rahman%2Bmamta5.jpg

The love-struck couple entered into wedlock a few days ago and subsequently honeymooned in Nelliyampathy, India, thus explaining the real reason for Velarone's sudden disappearance, which had led to speculation (mainly by trash like the Daily Mirror) that he had been banned by the SMFA mandarins after being held responsible for Her Royal Horniness Princess Paris Hilton's acutely embarrassing antics while doing LiveText commentary for the QPR-Leyton Orient game.

Stunningly, though, Velarone is said to have decided to concentrate on his marriage, and may well decide to walk away from the club he joined barely a month ago, leaving his consigliere Tony D'Amato in charge at the helm. These fickle Italians. - Niccolo de Santi/THE TATTLETALE

  3. Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

ooww.. not thought of that lol!!

My next game is an away game and was thinking of the 5-3-2 but wasn't sure what players to deploy.

Its just that the outer 2 of the back 5 look like they're in midfield!!

Is that just the limits of the display thingy? Are they ment to be more close to the defenders?

So should it look like this?....

    RB-CB-CB-CB-LB

    ....RM-CM-LM

    .......CF-FWD

Based on my experience with the 5-4-1, it seems pure RBs & LBs don't do too well there; I think RB/RMs & LB/LMs (or RM/RBs & LM/LBs) may be more suitable. And the central midfield trio surely resembles that in a 3-5-2.

  4. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread...

How highly do people rate Cavenaghi? I don't watch much french football' date=' but with Bordeaux doing so well in the Champions League I thought his rating may increase. However, I was looking at his form this season and it seems as though he can't find the net on a regular basis, with 1 league goal.

The Deal that I am doing is

    Jo + Javier Garrido + £3 million = Cavenaghi

I am the one buying Cavenaghi.

    Any thoughts?[/quote']

He managed to retain his 90 last time only because of his no: of appearances. He's been playing well below his ability for months now; there's no chance of him rising, not if this trend continues.

  5. Re: Help With Deal(s) Thread...

I Have Received An Offer For My Melo Of Jerome Boateng And Cash. (The Cash Doesnt Really Matter)

I Was Thinking Of Maybe Asking To Do A 2-Part Deal' date=' With Cacares And Elia Included In The Deal.

    So Basically, It Would Be

    Boateng + Elia = Melo + Cacares.

Should I Do That? And Is The First Deal Good? Melo Has Been Rubbish This Season So Far Though :o[/quote']

The first offer's good in the long term. Assuming Boateng progresses as expected, he'll rise to 90 next time, and then (hopefully) 91 and beyond.

Getting Elia for Caceres on top of the first deal would be even sweeter; the Dutchman has been Hamburg's best player this season, from what I've read. He'll also be playing for the Netherlands at the World Cup, so it's a win-win situation for you, overall. B)

  6. Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

    Thanks again for this thread...

One of my teams has just made it to the Quater finals of the shield' date=' using my reserves, youth players and 4-2-3-1 formation!

Each game i've done the v.defensive and pray tactics and the latest game my 83 rated team beat a 91 rated side.

Unmanaged teams need to watch out lol!![/quote']

    :D

Be careful just in case your 83-rated side comes face-to-face with a lower-rated team; your luck may run out then. :P

  7. Re: Do You Find It Hard Letting Go Of Clubs?

I thought I would find it hard to quit my beloved Borussia Dortmund side I'd built up over 4 seasons in a custom setup, but surprisingly, it wasn't.

As Robert De Niro's character says in 'Heat', "Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner." :)

  8. Re: Adler Deal

I have Akinfeev and Delac as other goalkeepers.

Benzema' date=' Higuain and Dzeko are my other forwards[/quote']

Hmm. I don't see any point in buying another similar-rated GK, then. Although Dembele and AZ have hardly been setting the Eredivisie alight this year, so you may want to look for a better replacement for him.

  9. Re: Adler Deal

It really depends on who your GKs & strikers are. I expect Adler to be Germany's no: 1 at the World Cup this summer. But Dembele and Hangeland will not break the 90 barrier at their respective clubs (if ever).

  10. Re: Goal Scoring Tactics

I find that a defensive mentality coupled with a direct passing game helps me score plenty of goals. :) My Dortmund side in a custom setup finished well top of the 'goals scored' list, with my strikers scoring freely and the midfield chipping in handsomely.

  11. Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

Did I told you that the team I am giong to play is managed ? I told you " Now I have a game with the opponent play 4-4-2 Buy have a very good strikers 96 and 92 " (I know becuse I saw the last game ) but if you don't want to answer my question don't answer it !!!!

To quote your earlier post :

With the 3-5-2 I lost agian !!! Now I have a game with the opponent play 4-4-2 Buy have a very good strikers 96 and 92 ... What should I play I have my team a little better than his ... Thanks

Now' date=' this is the third time you've been asking questions that have nothing to do with this thread (after this & this), despite me & Soccahappy requesting you not to do so, and even redirecting you to the right thread. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop posting off-topic stuff here.

Let me repeat myself : this thread is exclusively dedicated to discussing tactics for defeating unmanaged teams. Please do not ask questions unrelated to the topic. Thank you.

The thread where you should be seeking tactical advice for success against managed teams is this.

Weird that Pompey still got so many shots on goal despite your usage of men behind ball, but good win, yes. :) Thank you for the help.

The other formation I would like to check out is the 5-3-2. Now to get an unmanaged team...

  16. Re: For A Few Points More : An Idea For Beating Unmanaged Teams

4-5-1 any good? Using an AM just in front of the middle 4?

For the sake of research i could give it a go tonight. My 90 rated side is facing an 87 rated team in an away game.

I'm wondering though if a DM would be more useful behind the middle 4 than an AM just in front? Using the 4-5-1 def.

Haven't used either formation against them unmanaged teams, so would be interested in your input. :)
