  1. Re: Npower League 1 and 2 Official Thread Looks like Tully has been dropped so hopefully the defence is better today, can't get much worse than last year's away game at Colchester when we were winning 1-0 and ended up losing 5-1 with 9 men thanks to 2 completely awful decisions Then we appealed and somehow they got both got rejected despite it being completely obvious they were nowhere near deserving of a red.

  4. Re: Npower League 1 and 2 Official Thread As expected we have no money to even make a new loan signing in January so the only way we can is by selling someone for cash. That means it'll be a quiet January as there's no chance of anyone paying anything for any of our players tbh.
  5. Re: Npower League 1 and 2 Official Thread If anyone would like to see the worst penalty ever, wait for the highlights of Guillem Bauza's 'effort' yesterday. Should be banned from taking one ever again, I remember Berbatov getting loads of criticism for something similar in the FA Cup a few years ago but this one is even worse. Played well for part of the game but that makes it even worse when you're getting beaten by teams we have to be taking points from. As usual the opposition make sure they have someone to target Tully who is far far far too slow and simply isn't good enough anymore despite being the only player to get a long term contract! Once again nobody has any confidence at all and we seem to turn up half beaten already, since Oakley went back to Leicester we have no leader on the pitch. Noble is a captain just as much as I am, he needs to be setting an example to the rest and giving them confidence instead of constantly moaning at the ref. Unfortunately we have nobody in the squad capable of that. Oh well, onto Colchester who will no doubt smash 6 past us to make up for yesterday's hammering to Stevenage. And on the subject of them, Westley might be a complete *ahem* but he's got his side playing to their strengths as a team, something we're completely incapable of at the moment. And I see Ryan Harley seems to getting a whole lot of abuse from Brighton fans right now. I knew we'd miss him but it's far worse than expected. Unless things improve soon I have no doubt we'll be mid-table/bottom half of League 2 this time next year *dreams of somehow getting him back on loan for free*

English Shield: Round 1 - Bye Round 2 - Exeter 3-1 Cheltenham Town Round 3 - Charlton Athletic 0-0 Exeter (Charlton win 4-2 on penalties) English Cup: Round 1 - Bye Round 2 - The New Saints 1-1 Exeter (Exeter win 4-1 on penalties) Round 3 - Exeter 2-1 Preston North End Round 4 - Exeter 4-1 Bolton Quarter-Final - Exeter 0-0 Leeds United (Leeds win 5-3 on penalties) 1st Division: 8th Player Awards: Player of the season - Eduardo da Silva Young Player of the season - Fabio da Silva Top Goalscorer - Daniel Sturridge (10) Most Assists - Eden Hazard & Eduardo da Silva (9) Most bookings - Daniel Sturridge (4Y & 1R) Flop of the season - Ricardo Carvalho Overall: A decent season once again for Exeter but there will be disappointment that the season ended poorly with the club slipping to 8th when closing in on the top 4. The QF defeat to Leeds on penalties was also a low point as was the SMFA Shield exit to Espanyol. However, on the transfer side of things, a gradual improvement has continued with both the ayouth and main squads. Some of England's finest talents such as Mason Bennett, Jordan Ibe, Max Clayton, Andre Wisdom and Jack Butland have all signed, as have others such as Elliott Hewitt, Kerim Frei, Karim Rekik and Dennis Praet. The first team however saw the arrival of Patrice Evra from Manchester United in early September, a high price of Jan Vertonghen & Moussa Sow was paid but with the striker's struggle for goals and Evra's obvious class, the move was a successful one. There were to be no more 'big' name signings until November when Scott Parker and Aleksey Berezutsky both joined. Parker cost £10.5 million from Werder Bremen but his performances so far have gone some way to proving that to be a bargain. Berezutsky meanwhile, made the move from CSKA Moscow for £7.5 million and has so far been used at right-back. The 29 year old can play anywhere across the defence and will hope to fully settle into English football during pre-season. Moving away were a number of youth players sold on for profit, before the club took the decision to sell some of the squad players for a number of reasons including cutting down the wage bill and to free up funds for more new signings. Defenders Angel Dealbert and Onyekachi Apam both moved on, as did central midfielders Scott Brown and Nigel Reo-Coker, with a combined total of £52 million raised from their sales. However, a shock move on the final day of the season looks set to be the biggest of the season as it was announced that Evra would be playing his last game for the club that night. He completed a move to Benfica the next day with the Argentinian duo of Lucho Gonzalez and Lisandro Lopez both joining Exeter. Whilst the departure of Evra may leave the team weaker at the back, Gonzalez should be able to work well alongside Scott Parker, whilst Lopez will be looked at as the man to finally deliver a 20+ season.

  10. Re: Gold Championship 10 Match Report Thread Exeter finish 8th which is disappointing tbh, only took 6 points from the last 7 games although a 5 goal win against Birmingham would have seen us finish 5th. Some transfer news finally today as Patrice Evra moves to Benfica just 3 months after signing. Lucho Gonzalez and Lisandro Lopez join in exchange. Leaves me weak in defence unless we go back to using 3 CB's, but there's pre-season to decide about that. Expecting Evra to drop and hopefully Lisandro can be the striker capable of 20+ goals that we need.
  11. Re: Official Liverpool Thread I like Poyet as a manager but as I've mentioned on the Championship thread, this season he has turned into a complete moron who seriously needs to sort out his own team's problems and forget about making these sort of comments. Evra may be a controversial player, but so is Suarez and it really doesn't make any difference whether he is or not in this case. If he 'understands them' and 'knows how to deal with it' then perhaps he could have told Suarez these things when he first moved here and the whole thing might not have happened.
  12. Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread Mikel obviously heard what Terry said as the video shows him turning around when he starts to speak to Ferdinand, would like to think that if Terry was guilty of saying it to Ferdinand and not just replying to him, that he would give evidence against him. It does seem strange that Terry seems to be smiling when he starts to say it though, surely you wouldn't if someone had just accused you of saying that when you hadn't?
  13. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Somehow Blackpool are still in with a chance of automatic promotion, 2 points behind Derby going into the last game but with a GD of +30 to their +22. Unfortunately Upson, Nelsen and Bradley all got injured yesterday. Should all be back for the play-offs though and Upson might just make Wednesday's game.
  14. Re: Npower League 1 and 2 Official Thread Well that sounded awful. Had a few decent games when we played well but didn't last long. Time for Tisdale to stop playing his 'favourites' who are consistently putting in poor performances. Bennett has played well when used so why leave him out of the squad just because everyone else is fit again edit; 12 games already this season we haven't scored in. 5 of them at home, we scored in every home game in all competitions last year. Pathetic.
  15. Re: Npower League 1 and 2 Official Thread 3 wingers and no strikers again! Logan has been waiting 5 years for someone to actually be able to put a decent cross in for him and now we have players to do that he's left on the bench
