  1. Re: What does SM mean to you? I'm self-employed, work from home and work looooong hours. I'm online a lot because of work and log into SM very often. I've got three children, a 6 year old, 4 year old and a 5 month old. All three of them are girls. I've also got a nagging wife who constantly nags at me to put up shelves, fix toys and a million other jobs, and she thinks that when I sit down, pop open a beer and watch the football then it's time for her to start hoovering. SM just provides me with one of many ways that I use to do something other than work, kids or chores for my better half. I'm a huge football fan, so much so that my children have given me a football cake for my birthday for the last three years running. They say I love football more than them, of course I don't. But it comes a very close second So I guess in short my point is that SM is a fun little hobby for me which just so happens to revolve around a sport I love. I work online so it's conveniant. I'm often logged into SM on a break or when I should be making some money and it's also a pretty cool way to interact with other football mad people like myself.
  2. Re: How Bad Is Cesar Sanchez ? Most, if not all goalkeepers go through a patch like this. It really comes down to confidence. If he's the best goalkeeper in the squad then for good or bad the manager will usually stick by him through poor form. The guy is a quality keeper, he is Tottenhams best keeper and if I was Harry I would probably keep him in the team too. As for Cesar Sanchez, the guy is obviously a good keeper if you look at his CV but he isn't better than Gomes. Keeping Gomes in the team after his recent mistakes is as good as Harry saying, "you're my Number One and I believe in you son". The questions are how long will it take until he's back in top form, how often will he make mistakes through the rest of the season and has he got the mental toughness to get over these mistakes quickly. Look at Van Der Saar at Man Utd. He makes mistakes all the time, especially from corners but it never has an effect on him. He puts it behind him instantly and makes the next save and then look at Paul Robinson, when that guy makes a mistake he crumbles. I guess my point is that in my opinion it comes down to confidence and mental toughness. If Gomes can master these he has enough ability to be a top class keeper at Tottenham. Only time will tell.
  3. Re: Undertaker's European Super League - Match Reports And Transfer News Transfer News From Real Madrid New Real Madrid manager Ian Eltringham (AKA The Undertaker) wasted no time in his first week at the club by signing seven new players and spending in excess of £50m in the process. The highest profile deal involved club legend Raul leave for Sevilla in a trade for Luis Fabiano plus a hefty check of £15m. "I decided to sell Raul earlier in the week so I let the top clubs know of his availabilty. Although Raul was one of our best players and of course a legend at the club there was no way I could fit him into the starting eleven. My team will be playing a 4-3-3 wingers system this season which means only one striker can play, and that striker needs to be a natural center forward rather than a creative attacker like Raul." "The offer from Sevilla was an extremely good one. The £15m enabled us to complete the building of our squad for the new season and with Luis Fabiano joining us in the deal we have a quality center forward who will provide good competition for Van Nistelrooy." Another major deal at Real Madrid this week saw the hugely talented central defender Ezequiel Garay join from Racing Santander for £8.5m plus Ángel Michel Salgado and Royston Drenthe. "I'm a massive fan of Ezequiel, he's sure to have a wonderful career at the Bernabéu but he'll be playing more as a squad player this season. Ezequiel is a signing for the future, I see him as a long term replacement for Fabio Cannavaro." The other players to join Real Madrid this week were goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, versatile defender Jiri Kladrubsky, wingers Ferreira Wagner and Fuente Sergio Garcia and forward Stanislav Sestak who can also play as a winger. "These players do not represent what you would call Real Madrid type signings but they are solid quality players who will provide us with good cover and depth. I plan on sticking to our 4-3-3 formation this season so I needed to make sure that my squad was versatile enough to cope with suspensions and injuries. These signings will enable us to do so without a problem."
  4. Re: English Champ 2426 - Full Of Chatters/Forumers Transfer News From Elland Road Leeds United unveiled the signings of two Turkish teenage wonderkids earlier today. 17 year old Karadeniz Batuhan signed from Besiktas for £3.2m and 18 year old Yildirim Sercan signed for £4.6m from Bursaspor. "Both of these players have huge potential and we'll be looking for them to form a deadly partnership this season and for years to come. They have the ability to destroy defences at this level and they have the potential to keep improving as we move up the divisions." Elland Road also witnessed the arrival of promising young goalkeeper Stéphane Ruffier from Monaco for £4.6m today. The 22 year old had recently made the number 1 spot his own and has shown huge potential with some stunning displays for his former club in the French league. "We are delighted to have signed Stéphane and to do so for just £4.6m is a great bit of business for the club. I'm confident our new number one will be one of the outstanding performers for us this season. He already has great quality and he's only going to get better." The club also announced that they have agreed a fee with Ajax for talented defender Gregory Van Der Wiel. The 20 year old will officially sign for the club later tonight. "Gregory is another player who has recently started to make a name for himself. He has shown some great promise with his recent appearances for Ajax and is another player that I believe will only get better and better. We had some competition for the player from Cardiff City and are delighted that £3.5m was enough to secure the deal." Three players are also certain to leave the club after being told they are surplus to requirements. A fee of £1.5m has been agreed with St. Patrick's Athletic for Luciano Becchio. Enoch Showunmi is available for £900K and David Lucas can leave for £400K. "They are decent players but with the talent we have signed this week I simply don't have a need for them. I want to keep my first team squad at 22 players to keep the wage bill down. We have to keep an eye on our finances to ensure the club makes a decent profit each week so we can sign more talented youngsters in the near future."

  9. Re: Custom Setup Requires Managers Didn't notice this thread before so I'll post this here as well. This "Game World" includes all clubs who have played in or won a European Cup Final and also clubs who have won a Cup Winners Cup or a UEFA Cup in the past. After researching all the clubs who fit into this category I was left with a list of 65 clubs. Two of them had to be removed as one wasn’t on the database and the other had too few players to be included. As I wanted a league system which included 80 clubs I decided to use UEFA’s coefficient club rankings to select the remaining 17 clubs. As UEFA use the most recent clubs ranking for seeding of clubs for draws in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup I felt that this was a suitable system to use for placing clubs into their respective divisions in order of rank. Certain clubs had no coefficient ranking so they were placed straight into the bottom division. The 4 divisions look like this... 10. Re: need some help please Wow, such little information for us to work on. A list of players doesn't really help us much. I think the best thing for you to do is to do what the majority of us do. Experiment. You should be able to look at your squad and figure what is the best formation for your players. If it's a standard new Arsenal team then in my opinion that would be a 4-4-2. As for tactics. What types of teams do you like to watch in the real world? What styles do they play? You could start by trying to replicate the style of play of your favourite teams with the tactics you choose for your team on SM and see how it goes, if it doesn't work tweak it a little or try something else. This is part of the joy of the game mate. Enjoy it and don't be afaid to lose. You'll soon find a formation and tactics that work well for your team.
  11. Re: Can't Find The Right Formation I was just about to reply with some constructive advice until I noticed the players ratings and then the date of the thread
  12. Re: would you change thing's Sounds like they are all NMF to me, that's the only way I can see you would be demolished so often with such a great team. Try rotating with some squad players and rest your stars, and if your squad is small build it bigger with a few 88/89's. That's the only advice I can give with the information you provided.
  13. Re: How's your GC night GC27: Everton 0 Manchester United 6 GC33: Inverness 1 Celtic 3 GC42: Cambridge United 0 Hereford United 3 GC43: Cheltenham Town 2 Rotherham United 2 A great result for my Man Utd team away to Everton. The decision to sell Ronaldo earlier in the season seems to be paying off as it has enabled me to build a large squad relatively quickly. The emphatic win was no doubt down to the fact that my best players were 100% fit for the game. Celtic continued their unbeaten run also with a convincing 3-1 win away to Inverness and I picked up my first win for Hereford but Cheltenham could only draw against a poor Rotherham side. All in all, not a bad night
  14. Re: Is Anyone Else Experiencing This..? There's a few things not working right tonight for some reason. I can't access the admin for my custom setup and I was going see if there was a decent Scottish team available in a standard scottish setup but the links dead along with all the other standard countries at the bottom of the "Select A Soccer Club" page. Plus your problem, plus I can't pick my teams for Wednesday, and another guy can't create his custom setup.
  15. Re: Is Anyone Else Experiencing This..? Same problem here mate. Was going to pick my teams for tomorrows matches but can't because it's saying team sheets submitted and matches in progress. EDIT: Ooops, sorry mate. I was searching the forum looking for the same problem that I was having but after re-reading you post you seem to be having a different problem
