  1. Re: EC2933 Discussion Thread- VACANCIES SO JOIN THE FUN New man at sleeping giants Spurs, currently languishing in the third tier of English football, have today announced Irish man Mark Howley as their manager. Howley inherits a fairly threadbare squad, though he was glad to note that one or two Spurs stars had stayed with the club despite their fall from grace - chiefly club captain Hugo Lloris, Moussa Dembele & Kyle Walker. In less positive news he was a little distressed to find there was only a meagre budget of £600k at the club - a fair cry from the free spending Levy days - and that want-away striker Emanual Adebeyor is still at the club - and the only established striker Anyone looking for a top keeper - Lloris can go, need depth and/or cash, but no stupid offers....
  2. Hi, just wondered if anyone with a high enough rep on soccerwiki fancies adding Lewis Cook, of Leeds utd. Played several times for Leeds this season and highly rated by the club.
  3. Re: Official Manchester City Thread Interesting to read the comments of City fans - fair play to your owners re community work & investment etc. I guess it's not just Man City - it's modern football. Mercernary players & managers who care very little for their club (Yaya's attitude springs to mind). There was a time when local lads had a chance to play for their local team but at Premiership level I guess those days are gone. I just think it's incredibly sad that the champions of England only had one real first team regular who was English last season (Joe Hart). Does that not seem a bit sad to anyone else?
  4. Re: Premier League Discussion Thread Bit part player, but with the new regime & players leaving, who knows?
  5. Re: Official Manchester City Thread English players quote was sarcastic - I know they have them, just not sure why? Pelegrini clearly doesn't like them. Whatever you think of the England number 1, only an idiot would suggest that ol' Willy is on a par with him. And don't agree that English players aren't good enough to win things - City were lucky against a Liverpool side full of English players last season Would love to hear from some genuine, old school City fans if they really connect with their club any more?
  6. Re: Official Manchester City Thread Do Man City even have any English players now? Seriously, no wonder the English game is in the state it is. City always used to be my 2nd team, but what are they now? Just another rich soulless club Hope they get stuffed all season long

  9. Re: Wc 40000 Sorry just saw this. No, I want my cake and eat it too Keeping Oblak as he's clearly got a bright future, but need someone higher rated as a "stop-gap" till Oblak (hopefully) rises. Cheers though
  10. Re: Wc 40000 Just two gaps in the Atletico squad need filling - Centre forward and Goalkeeper....Looks like one is about to be filled with a deal accepted for a big money signing. Fingers crossed

  14. Re: Top 100 Are you still taking people as I'm interested? And are you still taking club suggestions, or is the list definitive? I noticed on the first page it said clubs in the top divisions would be given at random, but I notice some have names next to them...can you choose your own club?

  17. Re: The Real World.. Real Life Transfers Only.. Dont Meet Chairman Criteria = SACKED! New man Howley halts run of 3 straight defeats AS ROMA came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw away at Arsenal, with club captain and Roma legend TOTTI scoring in the 84th minute. After the match Il Capitano had this to say about his new manager - "Maybe it is too early to make judgements. Of course the important thing is that we have ended the run of defeats. The new manager is like no-one I've ever worked with.....he's a real psychologist...every day he comes to training, unshaven and badly dressed, usually swigging from a bottle. Some of the boys think maybe he is drunk....also, so far he has spoken to me three times - first, in his office, to confirm I am his captain, where kept telling me his name, age, and where he was born. Then in training where we were a little confused when he kept shouting "patate o patatine fritte", (potatoes or chips?). And then as I was about to step onto the pitch at the Emirates he asked me the way to the train station...I do not understand his method, but I think it may be genius!"

  20. Re: The Real World.. Real Life Transfers Only.. Dont Meet Chairman Criteria = SACKED! Thanks to Racky for the job.....just a few questions! I've looked at the rules on page one but just need some clarification. There are currently a few players that Roma have on loan that I don't have - can I/should I buy them? And sell them if they return to their parent club? Also I have players in my squad who are on loan elsewhere in real life - should I sell them and buy them back if they return to Roma in real-life? Or do I just keep them and not play them? Help please EDIT: Also there is Florenzi, Bumba and Ferrante who aren't at Roma but should be, so I've bid on them... Oh and I've just noticed that De Rossi is out for 6 weeks....nice
  21. Re: The Real World.. Real Life Transfers Only.. Dont Meet Chairman Criteria = SACKED! New manager at the Stadio Olimpico New manager, Englishman Mark Howley, fielded questions from the Italian media, armed only with an anglo-Italian dictionary and a bottle of Cinzano... On the question of transfers Howley had this to say: "I hear rumours every day - De Rossi is going to Man City, Pjanic is going to Spurs, Lamela is going to Barca...etc etc. of course with a great club like the Giallorossi and with the great players we have people will always be interested. My hope is that we can keep our best players. "I know I am facing questions every day about who is leaving. With De Rossi for example - he is a Roman. His heart is in Roma. At the end of his career what will be bigger - his heart, or his bank balance? It is his choice. Trully I hear so many rumours. I even heard that Nani is joining us on loan! Can we afford his wages? It is not for me to say. In modern footbal the coach coaches. My job is to pick the team, to select the tactics, to keep the players happy, to choose the formation. We have other people that deal with contracts, we have a director of footbal and scouts whose job it is to find and buy players. I deal with the players I am given and hope to get the best out of them that I can." On the question of captaincy - "There is no question Il Capitano will continue (Totti). He is Roma." On his ambition for the future - " This league is tough. Every game we play against the best teams and players in the world! On paper we have the 2nd weakest team in the entire league. And yet I find the team 1 point off the play-offs. The board and chaiman have made it very clear what their ambitions for the club are - to continue to punch above our weight." Finally Howley finished with a little Italian - "mia anatra è nel gabinetto" With that Howley left the shocked media centre in Rome and headed out to the hills to spend some time with the Roma fans..... The media were left with just one question...why was Howley's duck in the toilet???
