  1. Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion thread Ah. Good thing I remembered someone having posted this picture earlier. I might be wrong but after yesterday's match I would say that those Fifa and Uefa Top XI teams aren't too well chosen from time to time and at least not suitable as arguments.
  2. Re: Official Bundesliga Discussion Thread I certainly see where you are coming from. I would even go a bit further: There won't be a team being able to compete with Bayern realistically for the next 10 years at least. Bayern are financially the strongest team in the league by far and now they won't have to pay further deferred payments for the stadium' date=' they're getting even wealthier. So it would be fanciful to think that there will be a team competing with them on a realistic base. Dortmund has the right premises to become such a team once. But this will take lots of time and many CL participations (where you get the real money from) as well as a good management. Moreover they will have to face setbacks like the Götze transfer to the big rival and they'll have to show that these setbacks don't weight to much in spending the money for other talents that will fit in seamlessly with their philosophy. I agree. However even as a Bundesliga fan I don't fear the future. You are assuming that Bayern will become dominant in the league and here I'd kindly disagree. Bayern might become even more dominant (squad-wise) next season but actually Bayern have dominated the league for ages already. I remember quite well Bayern winning the double in 2005 and in 2006. They seemed to be unstoppable. And surprisingly Stuttgart won in 2007 the league and Bayern haven't even qualified for CL. Then Bayern of course invested huge amounts on the transfer market. They brought in Ribery, Toni and Klose and people were saying exactly the same as they are saying now with Götze moving to Bayern. "They'll be unbeatable in the league". And Bayern dominated the league in 2008 clearly and became champions with 10 points leading. But in 2009 already Wolfsburg surprised the whole league and outclassed Bayern. So once again Bayern had to invest. They bought Gomez and Robben and once again they seemed to be unbelievable strong. They again became champions in 2010. However I don't have to tell you who became champions in 2011 and 2012. I'm clearly not trying to argue that the league won't be boring as it hasn't been in the past. I can't guarantee that. I just don't believe Bayern will be that dominating (like this season) in the future as I have thought similarly before many times and there always have been other teams surprising. Maybe we even see a team surprising us and winning against Bayern in the cup final this season already

  5. Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion thread Well' date=' it made me smirk to read it 2 times that Dortmund got lucky with the draw. For sure Malaga wasn't the toughest opponent they could have got in the quarter finals. But to say that a team that had played solely against champions of their respective domestic league (ManCity, Real, Ajax, Donezk) before, had luck in the draw sounds a bit weird to me then. Still I also wouldn't call Dortmund amongst the top 4 teams of the world. 2 (?) years ago Schalke also reached the CL semis and they certainly weren't one of the top 4 teams then. Nevertheless it shows that Dortmund is a good team and their next opponent shouldn't underestimate them. I would say that Dortmund rather struggles against teams like Malaga than against teams that actually try to make a good play. As soon as they have the space to play counter attacks they becoming even more dangerous. I'm hoping for the following draw: [b'] Dortmund - Barcelona Bayern - Real [/b] (and I'm dreaming of a German final in Wembley )

  7. Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion thread Without having seen the match, I can guarantee that Stark hasn't given someone an advantage due to being German. He simply is a terrible referee. No idea how a referee who proves basically every weekend in the league that he isn't capable any longer, is allowed to referee matches on that stage.
  8. Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion thread I would have thought that Juventus would look more safely defensively. Instead if Bayern wouldn't have wasted their chances, they could lead with 3-0 easily. On another note: Is Clattenburg considered as a good referee in England? So far he hasn't made any big mistakes but he has let the Juve players get away with quite some hard tackles. And surprisingly to me he showed Mandzukic a yellow card for a not too hard tackle then.
  9. Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion thread I'm really looking forward to tonight's games. Though Barcelona being the clear favourite against PSG (and normally against almost every other opponent, too) they certainly aren't invulnerable - especially if they play their first match away. Milan already has shown, that you can beat Barcelona at home as they rely on their strength in Camp Nou. Bayern vs. Juventus is probably the toughest match in the quarter finals with both teams being more or less equally strong. If I had to bet, I would bet my money on Bayern to go through however I'm glad I don't have to considering the fact that German teams doesn't look too good against Italian teams that often. Still I believe that Bayern will go through if they'll give 100 %. However if they won't (and this certainly is possible) I also can see Juventus progressing.

  13. Re: Replacement of postponed fixtures - Poll In the poll I've voted for the option "No" - mainly because postponed games haven't been caught up later before in this predict season. So I think it would be a bit weird to start it now (even though it might help me getting a bit better ). However (and I think we also can interpret the poll in this way) it might be a good idea to do this in future (meaning in the next predict season). At least I can't think of a disadvantage in doing it.
