  1. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Standard Liege find the squad being stretched so opted to give the youth a run out in tonight's World Champ Shield Round 2 clash with Sampdoria and they did not disappoint, with the 80 rated team pulling off a surprise 3-2 victory.
  2. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread Hartlepool lose to QPR, looking at the respective squads it seems a fair result...
  3. Re: Gold Shortlist I agree with Hesse, This is of no importance to me as there is already a more than adequate short list. If you must go down this route can the exiting short-list be kept as I don't want 100's of useless messages for every club I manage!
  4. Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread Div 4 Bradford lose at home 0-2 to Div 3 Bristol Rovers in a friendly, watched by just 2,621 fans, Valley Parade a quiet place last night.
  5. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread Hartlepool draw 1-1 at home to fellow struggler's Colchester. Still in 17th position, 2 points ahead of Colchester. P7 W3 D2 L2 since taking over.
  6. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Standard Liege continue to over achieve with a 3-1 home win over Panathinaikos. Now up to 3rd, 1 point off top spot, although only 4 points above 11th in what is a very tight division so far...
  7. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Rotherham beat star studded Bolton 3-0, this despite having Centre Forward Streller sent off in the 40th minute.
  8. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Standard come back from a visit to the Estadio da Luz on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat to Benfica, squad really stretched now, wasn't the best to begin with but still up there in 7th, 2 points separate the top 7.
  9. Re: Gold Championship 50 - Match Report / Transfers Thread HAMBURGER CHAMPIONS AGAIN The Title race in Germany went down to the wire, with Hamburger knowing a point was all they needed to regain the title from Bayern Munchen. Hamburger travelled to the LTU Arena to face Fortuna Dusseldorf, while Bayern Munchen also had an away trip, they travelled to the Commerzbank-Arena to face mid table Eintracht Frankfurt. Both games started and it was plain to see the nerves, with the away teams desperate not to concede and ruin their title chances. On 38 minutes the deadlock was broken at the LTU Arena, with Ivica OLIC picking up a short corner, then curling the ball into the net past the unsighted keeper. Moments later in was 0-2 as Jhon HURTADO flicks the ball past his own keeper whilst performing a clearance, an awful own goal. News of Hamburger's exploits filtered through to the Commerzbank-Arena and almost immediately Bayern were in front, thanks to Torsten FRINGS, who thumped in a low drive from 20 yards out, Two keepers couldn't have stopped that! Half Time and both title chasing sides were in front. The second half started and Bayern made it 0-2 thanks to goal machine Torsten FRINGS, who dummied the keeper and slid the ball into the empty net, he was now on a hat-trick, who would have thought! Both teams now sitting on 0-2 leads and it was obvious that Hamburger were happy with this scoreline, as the manager had decided to alter the formation and slow the game down, but still looking dangerous on the counter attack. On 52 minutes a goal from Fortuna Dusseldorf made it 1-2 thanks to Marco SCHNEUWLY who nodded the ball home following a dangerous corner, the title race was back on! Both games continued in the same vein and 5 minutes from time the result Hamburger wanted was now confirmed thanks to the lightning quick substitute Mauro BOSELLI, as he burst into the box and lashed home from 15-yards. Over at the Commerzbank-Arena Yaya TOURE made it 0-3 after he was allowed too much space and he made no mistake from 10 yards. Full Time - Hamburger Champions for a second time, the faith shown in manager Gary Townsend by the board following last seasons transitional period was justified, seeing the league title return to the Imtech Arena.
  10. Re: New Improvements on SM It says: Depends on your definition of shortly then I suppose, but I'm sure they would announce it when it's actually been implemented.
  11. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread The Hartlepool squad assembly has started well, with 6 players gaining ratings increases today: Luca MARRONE +3 (78) Francesco BOLZONI +3 (83) Massimo GOTTI +3 (80) Riccardo SAPONARA +5 (75) Daniel ADEJO +4 (82) Riccardo NARDINI +2 (80)
  12. Re: Official Gold Championships Discussions Thread GC68 - I now seem to have two friendlies lined up against Partick Thistle and Xerez. I didn't set these up, although the fixture says that I did I cannot cancel them, is this a new thing that I missed the announcement for?
  13. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread Simon Tomaszewski has become the new Lincoln City manager. Welcome to a top manager from the gold championships.
  14. Re: Magical 100 points I couldn't find this thread the other day, so posting a bit late: Panathinaikos win the league in GC29 with an almost perfect record, joining the 100 points club in a 36 game season
  15. Re: Gold Championship 50 - Match Report / Transfers Thread The Title race in Germany took a twist last night as Hamburger won 3-1 at home versus Hannover 96, whilst there was a shock in store at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena as TSG 1899 Hoffenheim humbled Bayern Munchen 3-1. This leaves Hamburger 3 points clear with 2 games to go, although they have an inferior goal difference to Bayern so know that 4 points from the last two games is what they need. It won't be easy though as Hamburger's last two games are away from home, with trips to Alemannia Aachen and SMFA Shield chasing Fortuna Dusseldorf. Bayern have a home game against VfB Stuttgart, then an away trip to Eintracht Frankfurt.
  16. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Standard Liege win 1-0 at home versus River Plate, this keeps us in 4th place, but the top 4 are only being separated by goal difference, all sitting on 13 points.
  17. Re: English Championship 5579 - Discussion Thread Bradford make it 3 wins from 3 with a 3-1 home win versus Swindon Town. The club finished 15th, we hope to build on this next season...
  18. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread Hartlepool win again, this time another 3-1 away win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Now just 1 point behind 17th placed Colchester United. Next up a home game versus bottom side Milton Keynes Dons.
  19. Re: English Championship 106 - Discussion Thread Julien FERET, 87 rated AM/Wing arrives at the Don Valley, the squad now looks in good shape for the coming season, despite lacking star names.
  20. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Standard Liege exit the World Champ Cup at the first hurdle, losing on pens after a 2-2 draw with Boca. The majority of my players were reserves so not too surprised. The previous manager made some questionable transfers, which may take a while to rectify.
  21. Re: English Championship 2933 Discussion Thread Hartlepool make it 2 wins from 2 under new boss Gary Townsend following a 3-1 away win over high flying Huddersfield. First objective is to climb out of the relegation zone, then we will see where we go from there... 4 deals have been agreed to strengthen the squad with the following set to join: FERRARIO, Stefano (CB, 80) ROMULO, Caldeira Cruzeiro (RB/RM, 80) BOLZONI, Francesco (CM, 80) VAN DER HEIJDEN, Jan-Arie (CM/DM, 80)
  22. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Standard get off to a good start under new boss Gary Townsend with a 1-0 victory away at Rubin, 3 points and a clean sheet to boot.
  23. Re: New Gold Championship Version(s) The new formats suggested sound interesting, but then again it sounded interesting a year ago and nothing happened. The only way it will be a success if it the set-up has managers in it, rather than the 20% occupancy that most gc's have at the moment. These set-ups need to regain the 'exclusive' tag that has long since gone, this will never happen if they continue to be banged out at the current rate of one a week.
  24. Re: World Championship 10000 Discussion thread Cheers! Just took over Standard Liege. As the GC's are becoming lonely places these days I've decided to join a few of the forum packed standard's
