  1. Re: Greener's Guide to risers around the world.... Try: Ranocchia & Bonucci
  2. Re: SM Getting Rid of Transfer Budget ? Many thanks for the prompt response!
  3. Re: SM Getting Rid of Transfer Budget ? I might have to submit a ticket.. My GC63 Plymouth team had a small(ish) debt of £900k, but a transfer budget of £4mil. I'm guaranteed a playoff place at the end of the season and so was hoping cash prizes would clear this debt and give me a small warchest for after promotion/building for automatic promotion next season. After the change I'm 950k in debt. Edit: I've tried logging out also.
  4. Re: New Zealand Qualify - WC2010 Who would have thought it.. A Plymouth Argyle player at the World Cup! Gratz to the Kiwis
  5. Re: Gold Championship 77 Match/Transfers Thread Feyenoord Transfer Update There have been several new arrivals at the De Kuip, ready for the league start today. Ibraham Sekagya has arrived from Red Bull Salzburg, with Kevin Hofland heading the other way. He is expected to line up alongside Bahia in the centre of defence. Feyenoord were also in need of a target man and as such have signed Uruguayan striker Tanque Silva from Argentinian side Banfield. He arrives for £6.5 million pounds. Swedish left midfielder Emir Bajrami also arrived in exchange for Denny Lanzaat and a nominal transfer fee. Feyenoord manager Cook was keen to add extra depth to the wide positions The have also been several less high-profile arrivals, mostly to the youth side. The players arriving include Albanian winger Elis Bakaj and Columbian prospect Roger Canas. Cook is hoping to unveil one more first team player before the opening match against FC Twente tonight.
  6. Re: Gold Championship 77 Match/Transfers Thread FEYENOORD UNVEIL NEW MANAGER Feyenoord have unveiled Leon Cook as their latest manager, replacing Mario Been. Cook has inherited an excellent youthful side and as such is not looking to make wholesale changes, just add to the squad in certain areas. Only one transfer has been confirmed so far and that is the departure of vice-captain Roy Makaay to Newcastle for an £8 million pound fee. Cook told reporters that he did not plan to feature Makaay in his squad and that he was looking to bring in younger players. Rumours of the imminent arrival of a new centre back and centre forward were neither confirmed nor denied by Cook.
  7. Re: Gold Championship 74|Match Reports|Discussion Ow' date=' you reckoned right! Spurs humbled 6 - 2 at home by the Villa... There will be extra training sessions tomorrow for the players. And I've asked Alex Ferguson to pop by and give them The Hairdryer™ [i'm hoping its a random freak match engine result... my trusty 4-4-1-1 hasn't let me down in other game worlds']
  8. Re: Gold Championship 74|Match Reports|Discussion You're probably right... My teams are historically slow starters. And poor finishers. Mid season isn't too hot actually, now I come to think of it...
  9. Re: Gold Championship 74|Match Reports|Discussion Spurs transfer news Tottenham have so far had an unlucky time in the transfer market. Whilst able to keep the core of the side the same (despite many offers), the manager has not been able to attract any big name signings to White Hart Lane. The main transfer deals have been players leaving. Team misfit Pavlyuchenko left for Santander for £17 million pounds, and David Bentley left for Russia, heading to CSKA Moscow. Young forward Giovani headed to Greece for £10mil with Cudicni leaving to Premiership newcomers Burnley. The only arrivals have been relatively low-key. England Under-21 winger Adam Johnson has arrived from Middlesbrough along with Swiss youngster Xavier Hochstrasser. There have been several purchases for the youth team, with a couple of players hoping to be pushing for a senior squad place. These include Mario Gavranovic, Pa Modou Jagne and Adin Dzafic. Spurs are still looking to improve the squad at this time, especially a Centre Forward and a Centre Back.
  10. Re: Gold Championship 19 Match Report and Transfer News Bolton update: Back to back wins lifts Bolton out of bottom three 24th Oct: Nott'm Forest 0 - 2 Bolton Wanderers A makeshift Bolton side takes the three points with two goals in the opening 20 minutes. Fabian Lemoine gets a goal on his debut and trusty workhorse Pieri opened up the scoring. Jussi Jaaskelainen wins man of the match as Bolton also manage to keep a clean sheet. 28th Oct: Bolton Wanders 3 - 1 Leeds Utd A stuttering display by Bolton who manage to grind out a victory against the Yorkshire side. Despite a poor overall performance, debutant Tobias Eriksson scored a brace on debut, and repaid the £2.5 mil outlay straight away. He had only arrived from Sweden earlier that day, but managed to get his Bolton career of to a flying start. Luis Oder picked up the 3rd Bolton as the competition for the attacking positions hots up. Jaaskelainen again picks up man of the match. Manager Cook has already begun the team rebuilding process with Belluschi, De Sutter, Simic and Davies all departed. New players to arrive are: Nagamoto, Elis Bakaj, Petter Vaagen Moan, Tobias Erikkson, Morten Nordstrand and finally the Brazilian Tiago Wilson Mathias. Also of benefit to Cook is the return to fitness of many of his other first team players, particularly in defence, where his team had been stretched thin.
  11. Re: Gold Championship 74|Match Reports|Discussion Tottenham Announce Cook as New Manager Tottenham Hotspur unveiled their new manager today following previous encumbent Harry Redknapp's decision to retire and sell timeshare villas in the Algarve. Cook is still reviewing the squad, but sources from the club suggest that he is generally happy and is looking only to add a little depth in certain areas. A club spokesperson has indicated however that Cudicini, Bentley and Pavlyuchenko would be sold if the right offer came in. Cook is also expected to begin focussing on an improved youth policy, probably as a reaction to the success over at the Emirates.
  12. Re: GC19 discussion / rumours etc thread Fantastic, cheers. Bid incoming.
  13. Re: GC19 discussion / rumours etc thread Very happy with a first victory with Bolton. As the rest of the squad are starting to come back to match fitness, I'm hopeful that we might start to pull away from the bottom of the table. But... We are desperate for a Centre Forward. Preferably of the big, bustling target-man variety. 87 plus if possible. If anyone has such a player that is surplus to requirements drop me a PM.
  14. Re: Gold Championship 69 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Things are nice and tight at the top of Ligue 1 with 10 games gone. Three teams are neck and neck - Monaco, Le Mans & my Lille team are within a point of each other and have Grenoble and PSG breathing down their necks. None of the teams seem to be able to quite get a good stretch of wins under their belt in order to pull away from the others. At the moment though, it appears that Monaco have the strongest team and are scoring the goals that could keep them at the top. Coutadeur being the standout player in that team. Le Mans are being propelled by one man it seems - Thorstein Helstad, with 8 goals in 8 games. No one player is standing out at Lille, although Frau is top scorer just like RL. Our good start seems to be due to a solid defence. Grenoble also have a powerful frontline and while PSG have not had the greatest start, with a rebuilt squad they cannot be underestimated. Hopefully it'll be a close run thing all the way. With Lille winning of course
  15. Re: GC19 discussion / rumours etc thread I'm the aformentioned new Bolton gaffer. I realise I'm losing a good player and that I'm probably being a tad kind , but with the state of the squad I've inherited, I need bodies. (I don't have enough fit players to make a full 16 man squad for tonights game.) So, kind managers of GC19, I ask you this.... Do you have any aging, decrepit old stars that are clagging up your squads and wages bills? Send them my way, at the Reebok Retirement Villa™. "We're a home for anyone"
  16. Re: Gold Championship 70 Transfers & Match Report Thread TSV 1860 have been busy bringing in new blood, ready for to challenge for the title. The first team has been bolstered with the arrival of forwards Marius Bilasco & Ideye Brown. The defence and midfield have also been bolstered with the arrival of Markus Suttner and Xavier Hochstrasser. Another defensive signing is promised. The club also has some exciting prospects after splashing out on Luis Trujillo, Philippe Koch, Pa Modou Jagne and Thomas Rogne.
  17. Re: Gold Championship 69 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread (Apologies for double post) Well the first fixture in the weekend from hell went rather well... A 7-1 victory over Almeria with what amounted to a semi-reserve team. We were down to 10 men at 65 mins, and Eden Hazard enjoyed his first start of the season with a hat-trick and MotM award... Part 2 tomorrow....
  18. Re: Gold Championship 69 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread I suspect a conspiracy.. Of some kind. Maybe. ¬_¬ Lille had a league fixture on Wednesday night. We have a cup game tomorrow night (the 2nd), then a league game the next day on the 3rd! Our squad is stretched to breaking point and to make matters worse, Genoa recalled our reserve, backup CB from his loan. *Le sigh*
  19. Re: French Ligue 1 and 2 Its typical, I pick up Lille in GC69 only to find that they appear to be imploding!
  20. Re: Gold Championship 69 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Lille kick off season with win Lille OSC manager L. Cook was pleased with his side's 2-1 victory away to Lens on the first day of the season, especially since they were reduced to 10 men for the whole of the second half. "Its always good to get off to a good start, but of course there are many tough challenges ahead. It's a shame Rio [Mavuba] got sent off, but it shows what a good team spirit and fighting qualities we have here. We'll be looking forward to the game against Almeria on Monday as Europe is where we want to be and testing ourselves." It has been a quiet off-season at Grimonprez this close season, with only minor transfer dealings. The most notable signing has been the return to France of Jonathan Zebina, to bolster the squads European experience. Promising Swiss midfielder Xavier Hochstrasser and Swedish winger Tobias Hysen have also arrived, with only keeper Ludovic Butelle leaving. Most importantly, Cook has managed to hold onto all of his top-rated players, despite heavy interest.
  21. Re: Gold Championship 69 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Lille OSC today announceed the arrival of rookie L. Cook as their new manager. He is expected to build upon last years succcess and to continue the evolution of the squad. Cook has already issued a 'hands off' warning regarding promising youngster Eden Hazard as he looks to add depth to his squad.
