  4. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Defeat MK Dons In Comfortable Style! Milton Keynes Dons (H) - 23/12/09 Referee: Carlos Chandia (CHL) Huddersfield Town 5-1 MK Dons Dzagoev 2 Insua 53 Jovetic 63 Mitroglou 81 Balotelli 89 Attendance: 16,423 Team Line Up: (3-5-2): Muslera 10, Johnson 8, Insua 7, Kjaer 9, Busquets 7, Dzagoev 10, Pablo Hernandez 9, Elias 8, Jovetic 9, Balotelli 8, Perotti 7 Subs: Muller 8 - Pablo Hernandez Mitroglou 10 - Jovetic Asamoah 9 - Elias MoM: Alan Dzagoev Huddersfield recorded another clear and comfortable victory tonight with debutant creative midfielder Alan Dzagoev putting in a star performance, but the match was overshadowed by a severe injury to new defender Simon Kjaer, which looks likely to keep the talented Dane on the sidelines till at least February - a blow that puts Michael Eyre's defensive plans for division 2 under the spotlight, but he has yet to comment on the situation. Huddersfield got off to a flyer when new boy Dzagoev found some space 15 yards out and made no mistake with the finish after just 2 minutes. The game then struggled to produce anything special for quite some time, until after the break when full back Insua broke forward and curled home a delightful goal after 53 minutes. Wonderkid striker Jovetic then added a third in the 63rd minute when he converted a well placed cross into the bottom corner. The MK Dons quickly pulled one back but substitute striker Mitroglou made sure of the 3 points when he thumped in a low drive from 20 yards in the 81st minute. Yet another recent signing Balotelli completed the scoring in the 89th minute with a signature powerful finish from inside the area. In other news, Huddersfield have completed the signings of Livorno winger Antonio Candreva and Inter central midfielder Rene Krhin, these were funded by the recent outgoings of Germans Junglas and Langkamp.

  9. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Town Continue To Strengthen! Huddersfield Sign Russian Playmaker Alan Dzagoev Huddersfield Town have caused yet another transfer stir as they today completed the signing of CSKA's Russian midfield prodigy Alan Dzagoev. It is believed that the club had to fork out a club record £11 million to secure his signature. However, he comes with big pedigree as he has already tasted champions league football with CSKA. Many believe this player to be the final piece of Michael Eyre's division 2 team, but he was unavailable to comment and has said nothing about his plans for next year as of yet. In other news, young defender Alexis Machuca has joined the club while German winger Manuel Junglas has rejoined his former club Alemannia Aachen for a fee of £1.4 million. He didn't make a single appearance for the team.
  10. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Wrap Up Title Despite Failing To Win! Charlton Athletic (A) - 19/12/09 Referee: Frank De Bleeckere (BEL) Huddersfield Town 1-1 Charlton Athletic Balotelli 79 Attendance: 23,073 Team Line Up: (3-5-2): Muslera 7, Johnson 6, Insua 6, Kjaer 6, Busquets 6, Sandro 5, Pablo Hernandez 6, Elias 7, Jovetic 7, Balotelli 8, Perotti 7 Subs: Dealbert 7 - Kjaer Mangala 7 - Busquets Asamoah 7 - Elias MoM: Mario Balotelli Huddersfield Town wrapped up the division 3 title today despite producing a rare poor performance away at Charlton. The home side were far superior to a lacklustre Huddersfield in the first half but missed many clear cut chances, until the 35th minute when LLoyd Sam headed in a deserved goal. Charlton looked good value until Huddersfield new boy Balotelli popped up to head in a delightful corner from Pablo Hernandez which secured them a point and the division 3 title. They could have even won it at the death but ever present midfielder Elias screwed his shot wide. Sandro capped a poor performance by getting booked which means he will be suspended for the home game against the MK Dons. Manager Michael Eyre had this to say on his teams title victory, "I am absolutely thrilled, over the course of the season the team has gone from strength to strength and this achievement is just what the players and fans deserve. I am looking forward to the challenge of division 2 and i'm sure everybody else involved at the club is as well. It shows how far we have come as when i was appointed the budget was tight and the strength in depth was poor, but now we have a big and hugely talented squad with plenty of cash in the kitty if i should so need it, i've really enjoyed the season and hope the success will continue into the future".
  11. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Rise To See Off Brentford! Brentford (H) - 16/12/09 Referee: Matthew Breeze (AUS) Huddersfield Town 5-0 Brentford Perotti 18,49 Sandro 50,69 Balotelli 83 Attendance: 17,420 Team Line Up: (3-5-2): Muslera 10, Johnson 8, Insua 8, Kjaer 5, Sandro 8, Busquets 8, Pablo Hernandez 8, Elias 7, Jovetic 9, Mitroglou 9, Perotti 7 Subs: Balotelli 10 - Mitroglou Muller 8 - Perotti Mangala 8 - Sandro MoM: Nestor Muslera Huddersfield Town racked up yet another win tonight in a comfortable 5-0 victory over Brentford at the Galpharm Stadium. On a day where there were 4 debutants in the side (Kjaer, Mitroglou, Busquets, Balotelli) the team worked well as a unit and Brentford never stood a chance. Argentinian winger Perotti opened the scoring with a well placed header in the 18th minute. However, it was after half time when Huddersfield really got going, with Perotti again popping up in the 49th minute to score a fantastoc overhead kick. Then, just one minute later Brazilian midfielder Sandro got forward from the kick off and was rewarded when he rolled the ball into an open net. Then in the 69th minute Sandro popped up again and hit an early shot which beat the keeper at the near post. However, the headlines were stole when Balotelli struck home from 10 yards on his Huddersfield debut in the 83rd minute. There was more good news to come, as Plymouth lost their match which leaves Huddersfield 11 points clear with just 12 to play for - and automatic promotion mathematically secured, so Huddersfield fans will be rewarded with division 2 football next season. Hudds next play Charlton away, where they need just one point to secure the title due to their far superior goal difference.
  12. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Sign Ex-Barcelona Star! Huddersfield Town Sign Sergio Busquets From West Ham Huddersfield Town have landed yet another extraordinary transfer deal, this time in the shape of talented defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets. The player had joined division 1 highflyers West Ham but when Huddersfield made their interest known he had set his heart on a move. Manager Michael Eyre had this to say, "I am delighted to have signed Busquets, he is a fantastically talented player and just what we need in midfield." The deal bringing Busquets to the club is reported to be around £10 million. He is expected to start in tonights game against Brentford along with Simon Kjaer. Kostas Mitroglou is also expected to debut as Balotelli is only fit for the bench.
  13. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Make Second Major Transfer! Huddersfield Sign Palermo Defender Simon Kjaer Huddersfield Town unveiled Simon Kjaer as their second shock transfer of the day, just when fans of the terriers thought things couldn't get any better, manager Michael Eyre kept his efforts in Italy high as he sought to bring in another hot young talent from that division. It is thought that Kjaer will play in the middle at the back in Eyre's preferred 3-5-2 formation, with Glen Johnson and Emiliano Insua as the full backs. Eyre had this to say, "I am delighted that we have captured Kjaer, he is a top defender and just what we need for next season. I am very pleased with how today has gone and expect tomorrow will also be very satisfying, but you will have to wait and see". Huddersfield have been linked with midfielders Dzagoev, Busquets and Banega.
  14. Re: Huddersfield Town Diary. Huddersfield Complete Signing Of Inter Wonderkid! Huddersfield Town Sign Forward Mario Balotelli Huddersfield manager Michael Eyre clearly believes his side will be competing at a higher level next season as he has brought in highly rated Inter forward Mario Balotelli for a fee reported to be in the region of £9 million. It is thought that Eyre had been tracking him for a while as he looked for the ideal partner for Jovetic. This leaves the boss with a selection headache though, as both current strikers Jovetic and Pastore are in terrific form. Michael Eyre had this to say, "I have been chasing Balotelli for a while now and i am delighted at the successful outcome, he is a great talent both for now and the future." He also added fuel to the fire by stating there would be more incomings in the next few days. With the division 3 title not yet wrapped up, Eyre is clearly confident that his side will not relinquish their 8 point advantage.
