Real Madrid head into tonights game against Havoc's, Atlético Madrid on the back of 3 out of 3 wins and no goals conceded yet. The last win came away at Sevilla with goals scored by Mahamadou DIARRA and Martin PETROV.

Real's strikers have been training all week as there midfield and defender counterparts have scored all but 1 of Real's 10 goals this season.

Real have a full squad to pick from tonight and will field there strongest team possible against a very strong Atlético team.

Good luck Havoc and lets hope its an exciting game full of incident and goals :D

Zenit manager slams team performance, calls them schoolboy players.

A sloppy performance by Zenit ensured that they picked up another loss. Fans can relax though, as most of Sir Travis teams who were somewhere near the bottom at the start of the season are currently near the top. "As usual we only had 50% of our shots on target. Carew and Luccin wasn't useful. Abel Xaiver can leave once I get another RB, he was simply pathetic. The 3 goals which we gave away looked like those the schoolboys scored before the match. If this continue, we can forget about anything!" vanger Love was suberb in the match, and its no wonder why Zenit are interested in him.

Is This The Year For VFB Stuttgart?

First Four Game's

Greig Spence's Side started badly after losing the opening game of the season then drawing the next. But since then spence has played two games in a week and is over joyed with how the team is performing and the amount of goals getting scored. Thesas Gekas is the main man and is in terrific form with 4 goals in 4 games, this is exactly what spence wanted and now looks like he is the man that has said to himself, "All score 25 goals this season'.

Fc Schalke 0-2 Stuttgart

A tricky away game ended with a comfterbile win as spence's side travelled to the south of Germany to play this tricky encounter. It only took 30 minutes for Stuttgart to break down last season's 3rd place and the man who scored this goal was no other than the man himself GEKASSSSSSS!. Stuttgart had all the posession and it eventually payed of when captain Pavel Pardo scored from a 30 yard free-kick. Spence was over the moon and this game kicked started the season.

Stuttgart 6-2 Almeinear

The second home game saw a massive crows emerge to watch the team in form stuttgart. Spence must have fired them up as they where 3-0 up after only 25 minutes with strikes from Gekasssss! and two from in form Oliv Husev. This set the stall for the game and even tho the opposistion scored twice stuttgart scored 3 more. These goals where all fantastic attacking moves and endding by Tomas Rosicky, Gekas and first goal of the season from Omar Bravo. This was a great win and spence now looks to the next game agaisnt last season's Winners B Dortmund but spence's side beat them 4-0 away from home last season so its all to play for.

Sao Paulo Futebol Clube

Sao Paulo football club remain unbeating so far this season with wins against Palmeires,Toluca,Flamengo and Boca juniors more recently.

The club chairman and fans feel this may be this season that they finally lift some silverware but the players aren't getting carried away so early in the season and just want to take one match at a time.

Boca Juniors on paper have may be the better team with star players such as Palacio and Jaunito but it was Sao Paulo's on loan striker (Edison Cavani) that took the headlines when he slotted under the keeper 5 minutes after half time and also received M.*O.*M

Sao Paulo are looking to make the deal pernament and are willing to match any asking price, Schalke though are unwilling to enter into neogotiations and have already dismissed one bid.

There has been one player who has left the Morumbi stadium , as of yesterday Batista LENILSON jetted off to Norwich in a deal estimated to be worth 8 million.

Although Lenilson is a talented individual he was near the bottom of a long list of players who are fighting for a 1st 11 spot and the manager and player hiself thought it would be best if he moved on.

Re: Gold Championship 7

Sporting outscored in 7 goal frenzy!!

Sporting 3-4 Fenerbahçe

sporting are unlucky to lose a match, which in large parts they dominated. nigel de jong, alberto gilardino and allesandro rosina scored sportings 3 goals and each got 8/10 performances, which was in sansoms eyes, a good performance. 'credit to fenerbahce, the way they came and attacked us at home, which not many teams will do to them. they scored 4 goals which should be enough to win any football match, no matter who you play'.

sporting have so far won 2 matches, drawn one and lost one, which is what sansom describes as 'satisfactory'. 'i am very pleased that we have scored 16 goals in 4 games, which is a good achievement, but on the whole, things could be alot better. however, credit to my team, they have performed well up to date, and a win on saturday will repair some of the damage done by this loss against fenerbahce, who incidentally top the league'.

match preview:

Panathinaikos vs Sporting

panathinaikos have lost their last 2 games, so, like sporting, they could do with winning this match, although sporting will definetely feel they have a say in that. with star striker cristiano lucarelli currently on a run of great form, with 4 goals and 4 assists in 4 matches, sporting should dig deep to win this match 2-1.

Re: Gold Championship 7

80.gifTottenham Hotspur 1-0 Cardiff City18.gif

Tottenham went into this match looking to continue from their fine win away at Sheffield Wednesday the Saturday before Ross Philp's Spurs faced the league newcomers Cardiff City. City were still searching for their first win of the season in division one.

Taras Mykhalyk kept his place in the Spurs lineup and after only twelve minutes had played a long ball forward for Bastian Schweinsteiger to latch onto, before the German's curling shot went just past the post. Steed Malbranque sliced his shot wide after that, before Emanuel Villa went close for Cardiff. Scot Barry Ferguson who also kept his place in the side also fired wide as Emanuel Villa threatened again, this time denied by the woodwork. The sides went into the break goalless and with it all to do.

Philp's half-time talk paid off as Taras Mykhalyk saw his overhead kick go just over before Tottenham took the lead in the 48th minute. Michael Owen got what turned out to be the winner after picking up a through ball as he confidently placed the ball past the Cardiif City goalkeeper. Pascal Chimbonda picked up a needless yellow card before Ledley King fired just over for the home side.

So after that second consecutive win for Spurs the table looks like:

Tottenham next face the other promoted team Southampton, who currently sit in twelfth and in their last match lost away to Middlesbrough. Ross Philp will be looking to pick up the three points, despite travelling to St. Marys on Saturday morning.

Zenit St Petersburg announce latest signing, Michael Ballack from (then) unmanaged Werder Bremen

(Note to all readers: This is written just 1.5h after the transfer.)

Sir Travis Lim was busy giving his weekend team talk, and his phone rang. The following is the conversation between the caller and the manager.

Sir Travis: Hello?

Caller: Hi. Sir Alex here. Werder Bremen's old manager left the club! Wanna take over?

ST: You have lousy memory, don't you? I just told you that I will be with Petersburg no matter what. Name the good players.

SA: Totti... Ballack, Borowski...

(Sir Travis gets too surprise, and spills his drink as a result.)

Igor Denisov: (To the teammates) Must be a new teammate.

SA: Totti has a transfer ban, Roma interested in Borowski.

ST: Make a 10m bid for Ballack. His rating will surely go up.

SA: Sure?

Denisov guessed correctly, and now Ballack should be able to halt the team slide down the table. " Ballack is a great player, and we would surely improve with him in our squad."

He was obviously delighted to move to Zenit.

Sir Travis wishes the new Werder manager good luck to lose the top spot with two key players gone. Roma have landed Borowski.

Complete joke' date=' how can you possibly lose 3 - 2 to a side with an AM in goal

Zaragoza down to 18th

Luck isn't gonna be with us this season :o[/quote']

To be fair mate it looks like the rest of Bilbaos players were in the correct positions and they limited you to 6 shots, maybe the 4 that were saved were easy ones..... :D I have seen a few teams at various levels survive with outfield players in goal.

I understand your frustrations though and certainly agree that am AM should never find themselves in goal (I thought this had been fixed?) especially seeing as the squad has an 85 rated goalie in it....

Just playing Devils advocate, you have more reason to moan than most though B)

Re: Gold Championship 7

Valencia CF Futbol Mundial

With leading Spanish football journalist and pundit, La Liga expert; Guillem Balague.

Sunday December 2nd 2007.

- Season 2, Turn 6. -

This was an exciting week in La Liga, a week in which saw a collection of La Liga’s elite compete against one another. The highlight of the week was ‘Valencia CF’s’ mouth watering double-header against ‘Sevilla’ and ‘Atlético Madrid’. This not only gave us the opportunity to watch two fascinating games of football including three of the best teams in La Liga containing several of the games best players, but it also enabled us to gauge just how far these teams have come from last season. The three teams involved had a great opportunity to get ahead of their championship rivals. We knew that their would be goals, and boy we were not disappointed…

Valencia CF Lay Down Championship Credentials

Within the space of a week Spanish giants Valencia have silenced their critics, blown open the La Liga title race, and set a precedent to their championship rivals. Los Ches went into the week undefeated within their first three games on the season having wrapped up a 4-2 victory at a sold out Mestalla on the opening day of the season, a 1-1 draw away at Getafe; a game in which Valencia dominated from start to finish, and a shocking 7-0 victory away at Hércules.

On paper, the following two games for Valencia looked like far sterner tests for the Costa del Azaharbased club and would certainly test their championship chasing credentials; a home game against ‘Sevilla’ and an away game against ‘Atlético Madrid’; in the space of just three days. Atlético and Sevilla finished third and second respectively last season, just ahead of Valencia. Atlético manager ‘Havoc’ also got one over his Valencia counterpart last season by leading his team to a victory against ‘Ash Thompsons’ Valencia in the Spanish Cup final.

Ultimately, the games came to shocking and unexpected conclusions with eleven goals scored; nine of which went in Valencia’s favour.

The quality of Valencia’s attacking play and their sheer brilliance in front of goal proved to be the difference-maker in both closely contested games and consequently propelled Los Ches to the top of the La Liga table with a +16 goal difference.

Valencia 5 – Sevilla 1

In the first of the top of the table clashes, Valencia embarrassed Sevilla, putting them to the sword by five goals to one and condemning the Seville club to their biggest ever league defeat in the process.

Frustrated Sevilla goalkeeper, ‘Andrés Palop’ looks on in anger at the Sevilla defenders as his concedes a fifth and final goal.

Sevilla anchorman ‘Christian Poulson’ grabbed nothing but a 77th minute consolation goal from close range after Los Ches had run into an unthinkable 5-0 lead against last seasons 2nd placed team. The star of the show was undoubtedly, deservedly ‘Man of the Match’ ‘Simao’. The Portuguese schemer grabbed a hat trick and ran the show for Valencia, turning in a performance of the highest order.

The influential winger started as he meant to go on, sending a thunderous long range effort into the top corner to give Valencia the lead as early as the second minute. He made his mark again sixteen minutes later when he received the ball on the right from Italian playmaker ‘Pirlo’, effortlessly skipped past ‘Julian Escude’ and curled in an unstoppable curling shot from in excess of 25 yards. As if scheduled to the second, another sixteen minutes later saw Sevilla go three behind before half-time as winger ‘John Utaka’ showed great composure, finishing calmly after a mazy run and a piece of great footwork. Try as they might, the impotent Sevilla attack huffed and puffed, creating chances without any penetration or real threat on the Valencia goal.

Ten minutes after the break, Spanish leftback ‘Asier Del Horno’ smashed a left footed effort against the Sevilla bar from twenty five yards before, Simao completed his hat trick in style three minutes later; giving Sevilla no way back into the game with a stunning overhead kick that sent the Mestalla raptures into a crazed frenzy. Valencia talisman and La Liga top scorer ‘Zlatan Ibrahmimovic’ completed the route in the sixty-fith minute when he run onto a simple long ball and expertly drilled the ball past the onrushing hapless ‘Andrés Palop.’

Atlético Madrid 1 – Valencia 4

In the second of the top of the table clashes, Atlético manager ‘Havoc’ could only watch helplessly from the bench as Valencia taught his Atlético players a lesson in finishing, in what can only be described as an ‘advanced class’. Atlético and ‘Havoc’; who have become accustomed to success and victory went into the game with confidence and expecting a result, no one expected this emphatic outcome. Ultimately they suffered a morale breaking 1-4 loss on their home turf against a fellow title challenger, this follows losing against arch rivals ‘Real Madrid’ in their previous game by a score line of 3-2.

Atlético talisman ‘Fernando Torres’ breaks down in despair at the sound of the final whistle.

‘Simao’; who picked up his second man of the match award in as many games, opened the score line on the stroke of half time to give Los Ches a one goal advantage during the interval. 'Simao’ finished from ten yards after a flowing attack by ‘Valencia’ that consisted of over thirty passes. Brazilian superstar ‘Ronaldinho’ had an effort cleared off the line for ‘Valencia’ with eight minutes on the clock, but in truth, either side could have led at the break after a tightly contested first forty-five at the boisterous ‘Vicente Calderón’.

‘Atlético’ came straight out of the blocks for the second half and grabbed a deserved equalizer after six minutes when pint-sized Brazilian winger ‘Robinho’ somehow rose highest at the back post to head in a pinpoint cross from Portuguese star ‘Quaresma’; a player who has proven to be a thorn in Valencia’s side ever since his move from ‘Porto’ to Los Ches fell through over a year ago.

With twenty minutes remaining, chaos ensured as ‘Valencia’ showed their attacking flair and swagger with a twelve minute blitz; soaring into a surprise 1-4 lead. Strike partners ‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic’ and ‘Miroslav Klose’ scored a goal each which were separated by just one minute, before ‘Nilmar’ came off the bench to put the game beyond the Madrid club. Both ‘Fred’ and ‘Torres’ missed what looked like sitters for Atlético in the dieing seconds.

After dropping vital points to their rivals, both ‘Atlético’ and ‘Sevilla’ now find themselves chasing the early pacesetters ‘Valencia’ and ‘Real Madrid’; whom are enjoying a rich vein of form. Perhaps the biggest surprise of all after the first five games of La Liga is that ‘Barcelona’ find themselves in a lowly 13th place in the La Liga table and ‘Zaragoza’; led by ‘George_EC_MU’ who this week lost 3-2 at ‘Athletic Bilbao’ who played midfielder ‘Everton’ in goal, find themselves in the relegation zone. Both sides massively underachieved last season and are in desperate need of rekindling some sort of positive form.

Pace setters grasp early season form and momentum.

Speaking to me directly after the game at ‘Vicente Calderón’, Valencia manager ‘Ash Thompson’ had the following to say;

“It has been an amazing week for us, to come out of the week with six points is an achievement to be proud of in its own right, put to win the games 5-1 and 1-4 respectively is just absolutely fantastic.”

“We have been hurting for a while, we obviously lost against ‘Atlético’ in the Spanish Cup final last season and we finished fourth in La Liga; that hurt our pride and we believe, we know… that we are better than that. Hopefully these two results will go some way to outline that. There has been a lot of talk about the league table before this week, a lot of comparisons to it to last season and a lot of predictions, perhaps these two results will effect those?”

“We know and accept the old cliché that ‘it’s a marathon and not a sprint’, but every point counts and they all add up. The goal difference that we have accumulated this week will certainly make a difference at the end of the season, and this week won’t have done the lads confidence and belief any harm. We just need to keep our feet on the ground, stay professional and do what we do best.”

Guillem Balague; ‘A deadly recipe, a recipe for success.’

The movement, passing and most importantly, ‘end product’; a lack of something that cost them points last season, of Valencia will make them more than a match for any other team in the world at the moment. They have great balance in the squad, an effective style of play that suites their players, and undoubtedly one of the most talented and skilled squads in world football; a deadly recipe, a recipe for success.

Valencia outlined this week that it is ‘end product’ that matters above all else; possession may account for ‘nine tenths of the law’, but it means absolutely nothing in football if you do not make it count. It’s not the number of ‘efforts on goal’ that win games, it’s the number of times that your efforts have hit the back of the net in comparison to your oppositions.

It will be interesting to see if Valencia can maintain their form when the injuries and suspensions kick in over the course of what will be a very long season, I for one would not bet against them.

Atlético are more than capable of bouncing back from this week. It has been a very bad couple of games for them but they will be there or there about at the end of the season; they have too much quality and a very good manager to not be.

This should be an intriguing season for us in La Liga…

Report by Guillem Balague.

Re: Gold Championship 7

Tottenham Hotspur travelled to division one newcomers Southampton on Saturday, on the back of two straight wins in the league.

The third arrived courtesy of two goals from loan signing Lisandro Lopez, and English striker Michael Owen as Spurs ran out 3-1 winners, to move to 4th.

And tonight, Philp's team faced last year's relegated Sunderland last night in round one of the English Cup.

It was a boring 0-0 affair, and Tottenham won the tie on penalties to seal a second round away tie at division three side Swindon Town.

Next up for Tottenham is a home tie against Middlesbrough, who are currently second in the league with four wins from five.

Re: Gold Championship 7

Sporting 1-1 Panathinaikos

in a match which sporting dominated, with twice as many shots, more possesion, and the higher match ratings of the two teams, sansom admits he has a right to feel a bit unfortunate not to come away with a win, which he felt his team needed after losing to turkish outfit fenebahce.

man of the match cristiano lucarelli bagged a very late equaliser to salvage a point for sporting, who lie 8th in the league after 5 matches, a position which the sporting manager described as 'below par'. on a more posotive note, striker cristiano lucarelli has managed to get 5 goals, 4 assists and 2 man of the match awards, with his italian counterpart alberto gilardino bagging 2 goals and 5 assists. 'he has really managed to kick on from the first season, which he found difficult in parts, but i believe he is on course to get 15 goals this season, which he fully deserves in my opinion'.

transfer news:

sansom has decided to splash out a total of 13m on 3 new signings - german right back andreas gorlitz, youssef mohamed and jorge rojas. all of whom are available for loan, and have been signed to increase the strength in depth of the squad.

big name arrival:

italian world class centre back allesandro nesta, has signed up to sporting for an astonishing £25m, from english premier league outfit chelsea. we managed to have a quick chat with boss leigh auston:

press :hi leigh, why did you feel it was the right time to let nesta move on?

leigh: because he was my last 30+ yr old player, and and I wanted a young squad

sansom has been praised endlessley for capturing the 96 rated world cup winner, and apart from obviously bolstering the defence, he will be the new captain, and should provide that much needed kick that sporting needed to finally start winning some silverware.

two key players leave to go to chelsea:

sadly, sansom had to let allesandro rosina, the winger who sansom bought for £10m when he was rated only 87, and has put in many a quality performance for sporting, leaves with sansoms best wishes: 'even when he was in and out of the team, he always gave 100%, and i always appreciate that as a manager'. he left for a fee of £11.1m

also, key defender vedran corluka, who sansom maintains will have a big future for both croatia and chelsea, leaves sporting for £12.8m, a small profit on the £12.4m sansom bought him for, when he played for croatian outfit dinamo zagreb. he will be replaced by nesta, but he should add alot to leigh's younger looking squad.

Re: Gold Championship 7

Tottenham Hotspur 2-4 Middlesbrough

Both sides came into this one looking to take the three points, with each side on a fantastic run of form, early in season two. Spurs had won the last three matches, while Boro had won four from five since the start of the season. Ross Philp named an unchanged side from the eleven that beat Southampton 3-0 at St. Mary's last Wednesday. They had the superior squad, but which way would the match go....

Receiving the ball on the left, Ioannis Amanatidis skipped inside his marker and curled in a shot from 25 yards, after 12 minutes putting Boro into the lead. Then after a scramble in the box, Steed Malbranque bundled the ball over the line to bring Spurs back level. Then with a carbon copy of Amanatidis' early strike, his strike partner Adolfo Bautista restored Middlesbrough's lead taking them into the break ahead.

((Steed Malbranque's first half strike gave Tottenham a chance of taking the points in the second half))

And Ioannis Amanatidis was on the scoresheet for the second time in the match, putting Boro further ahead, doubling their lead with a toe-poke. Michael Owen struck the bar only one minute later, before in the 67th minute, Michael Dawson ran through and comfortably slammed a low shot past Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. The next goal was to be crucial, and unluckily for goalkeeper Paul Robinson, Middlesbrough scored through Benjamin Gavanon courtesy of a wicked deflection. And the match stayed that way for the last 14 minutes.

((Michael Dawson, above celebrating his goal, couldn't prevent Middlesbrough leaving the Lane with three points))

Re: Gold Championship 7

A bit of luck finally goes Zaragoza's way, as a 25 minute period against unmanaged Hercules yesterday was enough to give them a 3 - 0 win.

Scott Parker got the 1st goal in the 12th minute, hitting a powerful shot in off the post, and Diego Milito doubled the lead in the 24th when he took advantage of a terrible back pass.

Gerard Pique got the 3rd and final goal in the 37th minute when poor communication at the back allowed him to score.

This win lifts Zaragoza up to 11th, but only 5 points off 4th.

George said " We had luck with their defensive mistakes but after the previous game I think we deserved a bit of it.

We may only still be 11th, but with the bigger sides having the task of Europe coming up soon I'm hoping we can take advantage of some of them feeling more tired and work our way up. "
