Re: Gold Championship 7

Sunderland start as they mean to go on

After starting ignomiously with a 0-0 draw they now sit along side the best of the first division holding dreams of premiership promotion. It may be too early to read too much into their position in the top three but there are other signs pointing likewise to good times in the future for sunderland fans.

After coming in and steadying the ship, ensuring safety, during last season they look poised to ruffle the feathers of their divisional rivals this year. Buying well and seeing improvements in the players already at the club make the side a good bet for promotion.

Steve Mandanda, one of the managers first buys, and quite possibly his best, has improved and improved and forms a rock of a defense that is possibly sunderlands best aspect. Phil Bardsley, Nyron Nosworthy and Jonny Evans for a reliable back four along with Vincent Muratori on loan from Chelsea. The Midfield is the same as finished last season, Dean Whitehead winning a starting spot over Giles Barnes, relegated to the bench the only change. Upfront it is all different however. Last season saw a great partnership develop between Franco Di Santo and Rob Acquafresca, both on Loan. This season has seen that all change. Lee McCulloch was bought in for 7.8m and partnered with Florent Sinama-Pongolle, another loanee.

This may not be all the changes done with, as the manager has stated time and again he is not happy using loan players.

''Where possible i always feel more comfortable with players owned by the club, not that im knocking our loan rangers, nor forgetting their telling contribution last year, but i feel it would be moving in the wrong direction to be relying on other clubs more this year, rather than less, as is our aim.''

To this end a great many young prospects have been scouted and brought in, most notable portugese - a part of the world very popular in world football right now. ''Everyone is looking for the next Cristiano Ronaldo. There's no getting away from that.''

Big Boys Go Head To Head On Wednesday Evening

man-united-kit.gif

Wednesday evening Man Utd and Chelsea go head to head on it promises to be a thrilling match. Last season both teams finished in the top 4 Chelsea (leigh) came 1st and Man Utd (Nick) 2nd. Chelsea have got off to a good start this season winning 2 and drawin 1 Man Utd has been quite diffrent though winning 1 and loosing 2. But Leigh thinks the reds will come out on top he called Man Utd "His bogey team."

Key players for both teams will be Man Utds Carlos Puyol and Chelsea's Milito. last season Chelsea ran away with the tittle with arguably the best manager in the game. But Nick Gilardino says that will all change next season.

This will be a very exciting game for both teams and i think we have a great strike force with Wayne and Samuel upfront but we will have to be on the top of our game to beat the defending champions.

Hamburg back to winning ways, but for how long

392.gifBorussia Dortmund 2 - 4 Hamburger SV 401.gif

After Winston's rant at his team after last weeks devastating loss to Schalke his Hamburg team came out tonight with intent to make up for it. Winston has promised that his team will never give a performance like he did against Schalke.

Hamburg actually went 1-0 down after Alexander Frei gave Dortmund a first minute lead. Hamburg equalized after half an hour through Diego Forlan. Dortmund took the lead again through Mendonca Marcelo Mattos and gave them a 2-1 half time lead.

Winston must have ripped into his team at half time as they came out looking like they had a new lease of life. They were the better team by far and after another 2 goals from Forlan sealing his hat rick and Filipe Joao Moutino scoring one Hamburg ran out comfortable 4 goals to 2 winners.

Winston happy after first clean sheet

401.gifHamburger SV 2 - 0 1FC Nurnburg386.gif

Winston is looking for more consistency from his Hamburg players, they have had a relatively good start to the season with the freak result against Schalke being an exception. Winston is hoping his players ave learned from that hammering and will not let it happen again.

Two very early goals settled tonights match, goals from Marco Donadel on 6 minutes and Filipe Joao Moutinho on 11 minutes were enough to send Hamburg 6th in the Bundesliga and keep in touch with the other top teams in the League.

Eto'o signs for Milan

Etoo_2.jpg

Milan sensationally signed Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o last night after extensive negotiations with Manchester United took place over recent days.

Eto'o, 27, was said to be delighted to the join the Italian giants at the San Siro.

Long time servant to Milan, Clarence Seedorf, was part of the multi million pound transfer deal, along with central defender Andrea Barzagli. Seedorf has become somewhat unsettled since the arrival of teenage wizard Luis Nani, so it is little surprise to see Seedorf on his way for regular first team football.

Eto'o hopes to make an immediate impact at the San Siro this week as they take on Piacenza, whilst at the same time, hoping to disperse the recent slump in form as Eto'o partners Carlos Tevez up front.

Re: Gold Championship 7

Maybe that's why you have only won 3 games Louis? If you play the players power tools instead of the actual players your team tends to suffer!:D:D

Unbeaten so far looking ' date=' starting to get some goals aswell so things looking good just hope it keeps going:)[/b']

Trezeguet parts with Roma and two new faces join!!!

nacbkk-A.S..jpg

AS Roma today confirmed that the club had parted ways with David Trezeguet but two new faces had arrived at the club from Manchester United.

Nicolas Anelka and Micah Richards joined Roma in a deal which saw Trezeguet move to United before boss Nick was relieved of his post, rumors say it was due to selling fan favourite Anelka.

Roma are having a great start to the season and are sitting in 4th position in Serie A, just two points behind Internazionale.

Roma boss Dan Payne has announced his intentions to improve the squad and could sell Aimar, Moretti and Frings.

Hamburg's first 5 star performance

393.gifB. Monchengladbach 1 - 5 Hamburger SV401.gif

Hamburg have started to perform like the title challengers that manager Winston wants them to be, they are starting to score goals and play well. It has taken Winston some time to get the players to gel together and they are now starting to reap the rewards.

Hamburg had a total of 60 shots with 31 of them hitting the target so scoring 5 goals is slightly disappointing. With their overall and total dominance Hamburg were only 1-0 in front at half time with a goal from Diego Forlan separating the teams.

Hamburg were shocked as Monchengladbach equalized just 2 minutes into the second half. That sparked Winston's team back into life and they came back with another 4 goals of their own, they came from Steed Malbranque, Boubacar Sanogo(2) and Filipe Joao Moutinho. Winston is pleased with his players and just hopes the good performances continue to come.
