Ahmedov fails medical as transfer collapses

Ahmedov trains before failing medical

Colchester United's bid to land Odil Ahmedov has failed after the Midfielder failed a medical in London. Colchester have now stopped the estimated £6million deal from progressing.

The 25 year old, who went on strike from Anzhi last summer in a bid to force a move to Colchester, was expected to sign a 5.5year deal and even requested a 2nd medical with independant doctors to prove his fitness.

Earlier he said;

"All players dream of playing for a club like that and I hope it will happen, either this winter or in the summer.”

Whilst he agent, Karim Aklil said of the most recent developments;

“I am disappointed by the turn of events. Odil is in perfect physical condition and this was confirmed by specialists.

I am surprised by what has happened since his medical and the diagnosis established by doctors authorised by the club.

I am convinced that the future will give us a reason and that Odil will prove his effectiveness. He remains one of the best"

Ipwich Town*vs*Barnsley

Sunday 15th of April, 2012

Matchday #1

Stadium: Portman Road (30,311)

Referee: Mike Dean

Ipswich Town Best Players

Christian Abbiati 90

Michael Ballack 90

Claudio Pizzaro 90

Barnsley Best Players

Joan Capdevila 89

Jorg Butt 88

Peguy Luyindula 85

Expected Formation

Ipswich Town

Suspensions and Injuries

Key Matchups

Torres Juanfran*vs*Joan Capdevila

The Spaniards will match up on down the flank to clash in what should be a very interesting battle. 88 rated Juanfran could have his hands full if Capdevila rated at 89, is allowed the freedom to bomb on by gloryseekerRedDevil. However, it could potentially leave a lot of space and room for Juanfran to exploit on the counter. Who will gain the upper hand in this intriguing battle?

Michael Ballack*vs*Sergio Tejera*

This battle is a tale of David vs Goliath. Not much has to be said on this match up, as it looks very one sided. Ballack who reigns over Tejera by 6 in rating, should boss the midfield, and dominate the possession stats. With the cover of Jones, Ballack should be allowed to push on forward and mark his authority on the game for Ipswich Town.

The 2 centre halves for Ipswich will most definitely have their hands full with the speed and agility of the front men; especially Suazo and Luyindula. With plenty of experience under their belts in both domestic and European competitions, they can quite easily get the upper hand on the 2 defenders. *

Re: The High Rollers League- Match Reports/Previews,Reviews, Transfer News/Gossip Etc

Hull Citys highest rated player Stefan Kiessling will be given the captains armband for the new season before the kick off at Leicester City tonight in the first game of the season.

The 28 year old German striker from Leverkusen signed a contract with Hull City after agreeing a contract believed it to be £44,700 each turn.

When asked about the decision of picking Stefan Kiessling as the clubs captain the manager of Hull City, Ben Warrilow said that he decided to chose between him (Stefan Kiessling) and 21 year old central defender Aleksandar Dragovic.

Ben says that he was thinking to pick Dragovic because he thinks he has the potential to be a leader in the future and believes that he could lead a team now at the age of 21 years old after signing from FC Basel.

Stefan Kiessling is a player who is likely to be among the top goalscorers in this division, so Ben says that Stefan will have the ability to lead the team on in the process.

Kiessling is believed to have been given a target in terms of amount of goals to score this season but the amount the manager has set hasnt been confirmed as of yet, although rumours suggest the manager wants him to hit at least 20 goals this season providing he stays fit and is at the club for the whole season.

Other news:

Hull City first teamers Christophe Jallet (97%), Roman Neustadter (90% fit), Dimitri Payet (91%), Ivan Perisic (95%) are not fully fit so its not 100% certain they will start at leicester city tonight !

Loanee Julian Draxler (91%) and Signing from Barcelona Femenia Kiko (98%) arnt fully fit so they might not start.

The line up isnt confirmed as of yet !

Hammond Announces New Captain

(SKY Sports Interview Josh Hammond before the new season starts)

With the first games of the campaign getting underway in a few hours, SKY Sports caught up with new Blackburn Rovers manager Josh Hammond and found out his view on the upcoming season.

On the strength of the squad…

As you well know, I made a few changes to the club through pre-season and I feel I have strengthened it considerably. It is a well balanced team both offensively and defensively. Pre-season friendly are always great to have as you can then asses where your weaker areas are and work on them thoroughly before the campaign starts to make sure that you cannot get exploited.

Also, I have gone with a mix of experience and youth. I don’t care what anyone says, you will not get anywhere without experience. Look at United over the years, they have had Scholes and Giggs along with Ferdinand, who have been under pressure before and know how to handle it. They can then pass down that experience on to the younger players, which will help them a lot.

My only really problem at the moment is depth. I have heard a lot of other teams are struggling with this as well, which helps me I guess, but I just hope we don’t pick up too many injuries.

On who will captain the side this season…

I have chosen Helton to captain the side this season. He is a goalkeeper with a lot of experience and is a real leader on the pitch. He has won a lot of trophies over the years with Porto, so if we do get in that position, he will be our key player and will have to spread his experience to the younger players.

On your aims for this season…

My main aim this season, of course, is to stay clear of the relegation zone and I believe we have the capability and the players to do this. As you have seen in pre-season, Sulejmani and Pazzini have bonded well and formed a strong attacking partnership. Sulejmani is a young promising player and to have the experience of Pazzini next to him will help him develop more as a player.

On top of this, I would also like a good spell in the cup. If I am absolutely honest, that is probably our best chance of a trophy this season.

On possibly making Europe this season…

I’m not going to lie, it will be extremely hard to accomplish. I don’t want to get our fans hopes up and say yes, of course we will, because it is not that easy. Don’t get me wrong, we will try one hundred per cent to finish as high as we possibly can, but we don’t want to set our sights to high because that will just lead to disappointment..

On the morale around the club…

It is sky high. We are very confident and excited about this new season. The sheets are clean and everyone starts off equal, we all believe that this can be a big season for the club. Before the first game starts we are theoretically top of the table, so at least we can look back at that and smile if all doesn’t go according to plan.

On your first game of the season against Norwich…

It’s not the easiest of starts for us. Norwich have strengthened their squad considerably. Their manager has done a great job and deserves a lot of credit. Our task is made harder by the fact that we are away. Their fans are fantastic and get behind their team at every point possible. Carrow Road is like a fortress and just makes our task that much harder. But don’t worry, we will give one hundred per cent and we will bring the game to them.

Signed from Bayern Munich in a part exchange deal involving Paul Green and James Bailey along with £3M, the German international has been chosen to lead by example and help the club transform itself into promotion candidates.

Re: The High Rollers League- Match Reports/Previews,Reviews, Transfer News/Gossip Etc

Ipswich Town have moments ago announced in an interview that Michael Ballack will skipper the side and Christian Abbiati as the vice-captain for the forthcoming season.

The manager has decided to stick to the experience to run the team for the season and selected 2 players deep into their careers. He stated:

With the team that I and the Chairman have put together, we hope that we can set this club up for a very positive future. We have great experience within the side, as well as some players who are still learning about themselves, and improving every week. That is why we chose Michael[ballack] and Chris[Abbiati] to lead the side, because they will be used to pressure and expectations, and not be overwhelmed with the tough competition. We hope that we can consolidate a spot in this division at the very least this season, and build from there.

He also added:

People are predicting us for promotion already, simply because of our form in pre-season with 5 wins and only 1 loss which was before any of our re-development of the team took place. But I dont want to look too far into the future - my focus is tonight's game with Barnsley. And that is all.

Ballack then went on to say:

I am delighted to be selected as the captain of the side for this season. However, I am not the only experienced player in this squad, as you can see with Chris[Abbiati] on my left here, and then there are also players like Serge[ballesteros] and Claude[Pizzaro] who have been around for a while too. They will help lead this side this season, and we all look forward to the journey ahead. Hopefully its a successful one (chuckles)

We Can Do It

New Stoke captain Alvaro Arbeloa said that Stoke will lay it all on the line in their phenomenal clash with Manchester City at the Eithad today.

Everyone says that Man City will crush us because we are relegation favorites. I thank those people for saying that, because they are really wrong. Stoke City just keeps on improving, we have no locker room conflict. Win, draw or lose we can say we have done our best.

Asked on the new manager Seth Lark, Arbeloa said:

Of course he's a great manager. At Real I faced his Hercules side. We won of course ;), but that year he took Hercules to 4th in the league and semi finals of the SMFA Shield. I'm sure he can do well with Stoke too, that's why I came here.

Gonzodan's Season 1 Predictions:

Division 1

Winners: Chelsea

The Manchester clubs are good, but so are Chelsea, and I see a surprise here.

Last place: Newcastle

Clint Dempsey for £16M…I rest my case.

Division 2

Winners: Hull

Hull have been terrible in their friendly matches. I think they will win Div 2! Ben’s recent record in Division 2 in other GW’s speaks for itself.

Last place: Peterborough

The Posh have a more lopsided squad than me, and that’s saying something. I support Cambridge IRL so have to hate Peterborough automatically.

Division 3

Winners: Reading

Sorry to be boring here but I think Reading and West Ham can run away with this Division. I think Reading by a whisker.

Last place: Bury

No manager, no players. I really hope someone will take them over. What a great challenge it would be!

BBSee: Arsenal’s New Manager at the Helm

Arsenal FC have appointed Mr. Voked as the club’s new manager, while elevating his predecessor Arsene Wenger to the Director of Football at the club.

Mr Voked said, “I am over the moon to be holding this position at a prestigious club. Some people may question my credentials but I can assure you that we have assembled a strong team to manage the side and we have very clear and detailed plans for our future.”

When asked about what the club’s goals and transfer policy are, and how Wenger will play a part, he said, “This is a new regime, and of course change is in the cards. I’ll like to say that we are making steps towards a positive change and that is a good start. At the earlier meeting with the board, we concluded that there will be a new wage system and transfer policy.”

“I believe keeping hold of our key players is of utmost importance. I’ve heard news about Robin and I have spoken to him briefly, it was a good talk, we’ll find time to have a personal discussion over the next few days. We are also expecting a very busy summer.”

“I have great respect for Arsene Wenger. He will definitely have an influence on our club’s policy and decision making. I am honoured to be working at the same club as Arsene Wenger. The High Rollers League is a very unique one. It is highly competitive and marks a major era for English clubs. I am sure Wenger’s experience in English football will be an advantage to us.”

Arsenal Field Report

For the past weeks and months, Gunners fans have find themselves once again bombarded by transfer rumours surrounding their club. Arsenal has been linked to a host of top class players such as Benzema, Podolski, Hazard, M’Vila, Rami, Badstuber, to hot prospects like Eriksen, Strootman and Tello.

The transfer rumour frenzy has been a bitter-sweet experience for many fans. For the last couple of years, supporters have been hoping for a rebuilding of their team, but time after time, the fans are left on their knees when their key players were sold one by one with no significant replacement. The general sentiment for this time is pretty much similar to the past, gloomy yet hopeful fans pleading for a substantial improvement.

The biggest worry and talking point though is the possible departure of Captain Robin van Persie, a very fearful thought for any stakeholder of the club. Arsenal legends Ray Parlour, Lee Dixon, Sol Campbell & Martin Keown have voiced out in harmony and cite the skipper as the most important piece of ‘acquisition’ this summer. The Dutchman’s teammates are also eager to see Van Persie put pen to paper.

Numerous media reported that Arsenal’s transfer activity in the summer is the key to RVP’s future. There is no denying his love for the club, however he is also keen to put the club up there in terms of competing for major trophies.

Despite all the transfer speculations, many Gooners remained adamant that nothing is confirm until their club’s official press statement.

Arsenal will host their official press conference later in the day.

Re: The High Rollers League- Match Reports/Previews,Reviews, Transfer News/Gossip Etc

Arsenal FC Official Press Release

Arsenal unveils key signings together with the contract extension of Robin van Persie, Oxlade Chamberlain, Alex Song and Wojciech Szczesny.

The most notable names amongst the new faces are Karim Benzema, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Robert Lewandowski, Yann M’Vila, Toby Alderweireld, Thiago Silva and Adil Rami. They are joined by a few young prospects.

It does seem that the present Director of Football, Arsene Wenger has some sort of impact on the club’s transfer business as 3 of the 7 key signings are French, one in each main position – striker, midfielder & defender. But the fans certainly won’t mind as the new signings could prove vital and it is like a dream come true to see the club strengthen their team with these major acquisitions.

An excited Szczesny commented on his twitter account regarding the arrival of his international teammate, “OMGBBQ! It is Dowski! Dull-ski has joined us!!!”

Vermaelen is also said to be pleased at the arrival of his Belgian national teammate Alderweireld, despite the club missing out on another Belgian, Jan Vertonghen.

When asked about his first transfer window at Arsenal, manager Mr. Voked said, “At times it was very frustrating, mostly due to the slow responses and paperwork from a few clubs. Negotiations are very tough too because there are so many clubs vying for the same signatures. The talks are made more difficult by the budget and also certain targets favouring rival bidders. We missed out on a few players but I am very happy with the players we secured.”

“I am also delighted that Robin, Oxlade, Song and Szczesny have signed contract extensions with the club. They have been a regular fixture and are very important to Arsenal, both long and short term. Especially Robin, he oozes class, and we all know that money can’t buy class.“

“Our pre-season has worked out according to plan. The lads showed a lot of drive and potential. We are looking to carry that momentum into the league matches and other competitions.”

Arsenal kicks off their campaign at home against Liverpool tonight.

The Villa Pre-Season Report

Drink has overhauled an underperforming Villa side and have made 20 transfers as yet, one of the most this season in the premier league.

Critics' season prediction:

Top half, just.

A fair prediction considering the first teamers Villa have snapped up during the summer transfer window, however, many have critisised Drink's naivety due to Villa's overwhelmingly low depth

Key Players?

Neuer, Di Maria, Falcao

Manuel Neuer:

Captain fantastic and Villa's man between the sticks. The German international left Munich for English football. He will have the task as captain to gel the newly formed squad together. Villa will be expected to be on the back foot a few times this season, our defence will be under pressure. An immense goalkeeper is what was needed and is what we got.

Di Maria, Falcao:

Simple. Di Maria to create chances for Falcao to finish off. Our main source of goals will be from these two south-american stars from the La Liga

This is Villa Park. UTV

Pre season Interview with Payne

Sm: Opening day of the season, how do you feel?

Payne: I feel great, i am raring to go, i have a great group of players and i think we have a great opportunity to do something special.

Sm: Speaking of players, you went more for the big names in the market, why?

Payne: usually this is not my approach. I normally buy young upcomers with two or three quality players. However the real competition for players wasn't amongst the top teams, and their were so many top players on the market, so i thought why fight off smaller teams for players when i can get the best a minimum value.

Sm: And how have those players fit in thus far?

Payne: There is not much needed to be done when you have a group of the biggest and most experienced players. In training it has been a seemless transition for most.

Sm: Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Neymar, Hazard, Mascherano, Carvalho. Surely you consider yourself favorites.

Payne: We do but apparently some people believe Chelsea is favorite, i had a chuckle at that one. But i guess we just have to go about our business on the field.

Sm: Then there was Shevchenko and Simplicio......surely players past their prime.

Payne: To be honest yes. But we needed some depth and all the young talent was taken. So who better to go for than Sheva :)

Sm: You have decided to not send players like Welbeck, Fabio or Smalling on loan. Why?

Payne: We intend to challenge on all fronts and that means that we have a deep squad. Its still a couple bodies short but it is something we will look to address in the future.

Sm: What would be considered a successful season for United?

Payne: Anything less than a trophy is a disappointment!

Sm: Who do you think are your biggest rivals?

Payne: Not sure about how good other managers are so i have to say our biggest Rivals is ourselves. On our day no one can stop us but us!

Sm: Who will captain the team for the season?

Payne: Vidic is captain and Xavi is vice...........Scholes captains the cup team.

Sm: What is your possible starting 11?

Payne: I have so many options to choose from with this group of players. I will be missing it up a few times if things don't go right, but for now it looks something like this.

De Gea

Sm: good luck in the season

Sheffield United reveal new Captains

Gould's PIADS'

The sheffield United manager revealed in the pre-match conference today that veteran striker Raul will be taking the armband for the season. The legend scored a goal and assisted three in the five preseason friendly matches for the club. He also revealed that the vice-captain would be French international defender Phillipe Mexes. After the conference we spoke to the manager and asked him how he came to a decison.

There are a few experienced players in the squad, but in the end there was always one person that was going to get it and thats Raul. Mexes was captain in the preseason games because I wanted to make sure he was the right man to be the vice-captain. It all comes down to experience and age for me when choosing a captain. most of the players have experience in different leagues and competitions, but Raul also has captaincy experience, 7 years of it at Real Madrid. I know him and Mexes will do a good job and make sure the rest of the squad give their all on the pitch in every game.
We also spoke to the man himself, Raul!
How do I feel about captaincy? Just another day at the office! as you lot say. I am joking, but yes, its an honour to be captain of another squad in my career. I think this will be the last club for me so its great. I have enjoyed English football so far, fans from both teams have been excellent in the preaseason matches and I cant wait to get started. We play Brentford today and I will see the players before the game to get them ready and to make sure we come out of the game with no less than maximum points.

Re: The High Rollers League- Match Reports/Previews,Reviews, Transfer News/Gossip Etc

Huddersfield Town are gearing up for the new season, and are looking forward to taking on some Division 1 standard teams in Division 3. New manager Murray Elphinstone is looking forward to leading his side in the new season and was upbeat about their chances of promotion in his pre-match conference.

How do you rate your chances for the first game of the season against Carlisle?

I rate them high. They have a very good squad with some experienced players. But I think we have a chance as it at home and we are expecting a big crowd at the Galpharm so I think we have a good chance. Our performances in pre-season have been poor, but I think this will be our day.

And your chances for the season?

Obviously we would like to be in the play-offs, but there are some good teams in our division so we will have to be at our best all season. Also we have to take injuries and suspensions into account but I think we have the quality in depth to deal with them.

What about the captaincy?

Well the captaincy is going to our main man in the middle of midfield, Oscar De Marcos. He is young, but will be our man that we will go to if we need a spark to get us going.

How do you rate your new strike force?

Well Imanol and Arouna are very experienced and very dangerous when they get a chance and I hope they score many times for us and can lead us to promotion.

What did you go for when signing new players?

Well we went for some young talented players that will improve as the season progresses. We also added some experience with Arouna Kone and Imanol Agirretxe so we should be fine for that side

EASILY DONE: Imanol Agirretxe celebrates opening his Huddersfield tally

Agirretxe 3

Torje 76

Van Ginkel 16

Cleverley 47

Huddersfield Town opened the camaign with a draw against Carlisle United. Manager Murray Elphinstone is said to be disappointed with the result as he felt they dominated the play and that Carlisle got 'lucky'.

Huddersfield started brightly and were ahead in no time at all as debutant Imanol Agirretxe opened his Huddersfield account inside 3 minutes with a lovely foraging run and cool finish, which sent the crowd wild. The lead only lasted 13 minutes though as Marco Van Ginkel equalised for Carlisle against the run of play after some excellent team play.

The game then got bogged down as both teams gave nothing away and there was very little space to work a passing move in the middle of the park.

Carlisle started the second half well and loanee Tom Cleverley put them ahead on 47 minutes with a shot into the roof of the net. Again the game got bogged down again and the only chance that a goal would come was from a mistake and a mistake it was as good pressing from the Terriers front line forced the Carlisle defender to play a pass back, but it went straight to Huddersfield's loanee Gabriel Torje and he cooly slotted in the equaliser.

LOAN HERO: Gabriel Torje rounds the keeper to equalise

The game livened up a bit as the home crowd got behind their team, but a winner would not come for either team and a draw it was to be.

Manager Murray Elphinstone said, "We deserved to win, we are disappointed not to treat the crowd with an opening 3 points but it wasn't to be. I thought Carlisle were there for the taking and they got lucky. However I was pleases with how the team has bonded and they managed to come back from a goal down to equalise."

Man of the Match: Imanol Agirretxe

Attendance: 14,147

IPSWICH TOWN (Ballack 41, 79 - Ballesteros 70) 3 - 3 BARNSLEY (Cotterill 3, 34, 88)

After an early lead was taken by Barnsley through Cotterill, he bagged his second in 34th minute. El' capitano leading from the front, Ballack bagged one just before half time to go in to the break with a slightly respectable scoreline. It took until the 70th minute for Ipswich to get back on level terms through centre hald Ballesteros, thundering home a header. Then 9 minutes later, Ballack again took the game by the scruff of the neck and struck a ball right into the top bin which the commentators described as "one he would be proud of". As the game came close to full time, Ipswich look set for victory until a long ball forward picked out Cotterill in the 88th minute, controlled amazingly and smashed a volley straight past a helpless Abbiatti.

Ipswich manager stated after the game:

We dominated the game. Dominated possession. Dominated the control. Everything. We just could not put the ball in the back of the net enough. And to add to that, we couldnt stop young David[Cotterill] from scoring. It was simply his day today. Umm.. I guess after all, its only round one, and at least we didnt lose the game in the end. We will just look forward to next week, work on our defensive structure and try to perform etter against Peterborough on Thursday.

What did you think of Michael Ballack's goal today?

Well, it speaks for itself doesnt it? Amazing. It's the first game, and we already have a contender for goal of the season.. But overall, you can't take anything away fro Barnsley for grafting out a draw today - we just weren't good enough to put them away.

Arsenal stutters

Arsenal's campaign start didn't come according to plan as Mr. Voked witnessed his side lost 4-1 to Liverpool. An earlier match poll revealed majority of fans anticipated a home win. The result could come as a shocker but for the Gunners boss, it is just another game in the long campaign.

The manager is not happy. However he is encouraged by the fine performance of a few individuals, particular Yann M’Vila, whose quick adaptation in the club pleased the manager. He even opened the goal scoring account for Arsenal this season after coming on late. Mr. Voked also mentioned a few of his key players couldn’t make the starting XI or the bench. “This is the first game and there are many uncertainties. It’ll get better with more matches and hopefully we will rev up the engine sooner rather than later.”

The result could come as a blow to some fans but not all is gloom at the Emirates after the London club secured another signing in the form of Claudio Marchisio.

New Signing Review

Claudio Marchisio, 26, Italian

Versatile Midfielder

180cm/70kg/SM Rating 91

The Turin born midfielder is a product of Juventus youth system. Marchisio is known for his tenacity and anticipation, he is also good with linking up play and scoring from outside the box, he provides versatility for the midfield.

The Foxes managed to get the signings of 3 defenders:

  • Ludovic Sane, from Bordeaux, can play any position in defense and also as a defensive midfielder. His versatility will help very much his new team.

Ludovic Lamine Sané (25 years old, rating 87)

  • Mobido Diakite, from Lazio Roma, plays as a centre back and he's very powerful and accurate.
