Huh, I've been playing all kinds of surprises, so far with no success. Thank goodness I have put no money on them, well, except 1 euro for Poland to play France in the final (hey, I can win €250, without losing practically anything, so it is worth it).

Only point from the sure shot Germany victory and even that was not comfortable, could have easily been draw and keep me with 0 points. Now, for today, I've predicted Ukraine and Sweden to draw 1-1. Seriously, why? Beats me, I can see a high scoring match with Sweden battering Ukraine, but somehow I seem to have wanted to play against my actual bets here too, like in the Ireland-Croatia.

In group C, I was taking the chance that if Ireland surprisingly would get some points, not many would guess that, so I could make some distance... well, I will make distance this way too, just to the wrong direction Because after the first match, it seems pretty clear that Ireland is as bad as it was thought. I thought Trap would keep their defence well organised, but that was some horrible defending there. Absolutely awful. Then again, Croatia was so far the most creative attacking team, and it seemed like the Irish were just flabbergasted with the unpredictable Croats. If Spain and Italy play in more predictable manner, perhaps Ireland's defence will shamble less, and we'll see some low scoring matches that give me more chances. Well, looks bad for that in any event, especially because if the next round would go as I predicted, Ireland would be at 0 points come the last round and would have less to play for than Italy that could still make it through, so the prediction 1-0 for Ireland looks even more improbable to win than it looked before the tournament (and it did look bad already then).

The rest of my Croatia predictions look much better, though. Although, my last round prediction relied on the presumption that Spain would be at 6 points and would win the group with a draw. Now, they may lose the group to Croatia if they draw the match. On the other hand, this can still remain a match in which a draw would assure group victory for one team and second place for another, only the other way around than I had thought. It is always a good idea to play draw in that kind of match, because when a draw is enough for both teams to qualify, and if a defeat can disqualify at least one team, then both teams will play rather carefully and not push it for the victory. I might just put my money on that result already today.

Now that I'm thinking of it, this group can get really tricky, if Spain wins Ireland and Croatia and Italy draw on second round. Then, depending on the score in Spain-Ireland, one of the teams could assure qualification with a draw, while the other would have to fear for Italy scoring a bigger goal difference against Ireland, and it would really shake this groups last matches up.

(Shay) GIVEN that i am (Robbie) KEANE to predict who won, lost (Keith) ANDREW correctly over the first few games I am gonna count being on the the third hghest points as being third and not ninth as stated.

So there. (Richard) DUNNE and dusted, i'm claiming my fake re(Stephen)WARD.

(Darren) ODEAr that was a bag of (John) O'SHEAt last night. If we play like that again the (Paul) GREEN army will start to wane and the team will look like a load of (Simon) COX playing to no support, like a right bunch of (Stephen) HUNTS's. If we can keep it tight for (Shane) LONGer against Spain and Italy then we might just just sneek a draw and dare I say it, a win.

Less of a plan, more of a TRAP. ;)

And I'm almost last and you repped my predictions - oh, the irony. Congrats, I have to go and rep you back, if I can find your prediction (btw, thanks for rep, it helps me to go check my predictions, because you just gave me a link to them). I have read nobody's predictions and probably won't find yours. Maybe I just rep your game leader post.

The forecast for my third round predictions just got even worse. Russia needs a victory to secure the first place, and the Czech-Poland match is even more sure to be a scoring game that does not end in a tie. I had predicted their first two fixtures so that a draw would have get them both certainly true, but now Poland needs a victory regardless of the result of Russia-Greece, and Czechs need a victory in the case that Greece would win (because as the then Czechs, Greece and Russia would have won one another, and it would go to the goal difference, and unless Greece batters Russia by 4 goals it would leave Czechs third). So, certainly both Czechs and Poland looking for a victory. Also, both teams seem to be bad trying to just protect the score and only getting their game going with strong pressing and aggressive attacking. So, a high scoring match to be seen. And if I recall it right, I've got a 0-0 for it in my predictions (well, that was justified on the grounds I used for it, but by now those grounds are gone).

Maybe you either get 1 point for correct result or 3 points if correct score. One or the other, not both... That's the way I understood it anyway.
