Re: 2012 Olympic Football Predict - Discussion Thread

Does anyone have the full player list of all the teams? (or at least of the stronger ones)

also' date=' when will the 1st match of the competition be played?[/quote']

Soccerway is very useful for both questions. I don't think teams have had to submit squads yet but as they're announced I'll try and post them on here (please feel free to help! :P).

The first match-day is Thursday 26th July with the first game kicking off at midday GMT.

NO SHAQIRI

According to German news sites, Xhaka's inclusion is also still 'in doubt', he's been named into the final squad but he has stated his desire to rather stay in training with his new club Mönchengladbach instead of going to the Olympics. I'm not sure if it's even possible/allowed to make changes to the final squad, but I'd say there's a high chance that Xhaka won't be at the Olympics.

Re: 2012 Olympic Football Predict - Discussion Thread

Hey guys. I have briefly read a few of the prediction threads to get the hang of the rules. With this one is there a limit on participants? Can anyone join as long as they submit their results in time?

Everybody's welcome :)

Re: 2012 Olympic Football Predict - Discussion Thread

Ugh. I try to go to make prediction from the link in the first post of this thread, but can't get over the ugliness of the Olympics logo. Jesus Christ what were they thinking!? It just keeps on amazing me how anybody has come up with that logo. Was somebody paid for designing it? I mean, I cannot for my life imagine that there was some design behind it, it looks like the drawer woke up in hangover the deadline night and just draw a few lousy lines on an empty paper and stamped the Olympic rings on it. I refuse the idea that there would have been any actual thought behind that logo. It is not only awful as some logos that represent a bad idea, it seems to represent no idea at all, and on the top of that, it is extremely badly drawn.

Okay, feel better now that I had it said. I take another look and try to get to predict the games.

I'm neither a connoisseur of art nor an art aesthete so I'll won't judge about the logo. ;) But I have to agree that it doesn't appeal much to me, too.

It just reminds me of the mascot of the World Cup 1990 in Italy even if I don't exactly know why. Those 2 haven't that much in common beside the angular schemes.

Re: 2012 Olympic Football Predict - Discussion Thread

looking at everyones predictions and brazil are heavily favoured....& neymar...with hulk, pato & damiao is he going to start?

im guna stick my neck out and say i bet he only scores 1 or 2 goals.

topscorer will be Luis Suarez. some reason he has his shooting boots on every time he steps out for Uruguay...

Spain will win. I dont think they have any overage players! thats some luxury when you have enough strength even at U23 level not to rely on some older heads...

il do my scores at some point...
