Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13

Do you guys think that Gareth Bale will lose his LB or should I say his D(L) [horrible soccerwiki:rolleyes:] position considering he doesn't play there anymore in real life? Correct me if Im wrong but he should be an AM(RLC) right?

how on earth is bale an AM RLC

IMO, he is DL, DML, AMLC

Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13

Plays as a sweeper for the national team so he should keep his DEF position or chance to CB..(Well that's if he's allowed to play for the national team again after the whole vald' date=' vidal, etc fiasco..

Cazorla has been quality no doubt but i wouldn't even rise him just now, maybe 1+ at the end of the season. Hardly deserves a 1+ nevermind a 2+.[/quote']

re Vidal exactly my thinking, no one thinks to even look up what his role for his country is before going on about he should lose this that and the other...

Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13

Has he even played AM © frequently?

i only put AMC as a compromise. i cant say he has played there at all. maybe drifted there....

as for AMR - huh? when did that happen? i debated that before but he isnt a AMR, he switches to the right but thats not a position, thats a tactical instruction, much like Stuart Downing switched to the right in the LFC - Fulham game on Saturday...

id def say DL, DML,AML.

Tactical instruction/ position . If a player remains there for a whole half of a football match, then doesn't it become one man playing in one position? Certainly for Wales, Bale has stayed on the right week for protracted periods.

As for DM: I don't see him sitting that deep ever.

DML is just basically LWB.

Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13

And it's been a long time since I have seen him play deep as a LWB, for either club or country

Taken from thinkfootball.co.uk, tactical analysis. Go there to view the heat maps for Bale.

"The net result of this is that Spurs may be headed, amusingly enough, to a lopsided formation not dissimilar from that used by Arsenal’s invincibles that could be alternatively described as 4-4-2, 4-2-2-2, or 4-2-3-1. The way it will work for Spurs is that Gareth Bale will function as a wide auxiliary striker to support the main number nine in the middle. The other two advanced players will play slightly more withdrawn roles, with the number ten staying a bit deeper to support the two midfielders and function as a more conventional trequeartistsa. And Bale’s opposite – presumably Aaron Lennon – will function as a more conventional wing. We’ve seen this sort of thing before where wide men move inside and overwhelm central defenders with their mix of skill on the ball and tremendous pace. Again, Thierry Henry comes to mind. So does Cristiano Ronaldo. But a better comparison, given his manager, might be to two less regarded players who have played that same wide auxiliary striker role in Villas Boas’ system: Hulk at Porto and Daniel Sturridge at Chelsea. In both cases, Villas Boas deployed the player in an advanced wide role that’s part advanced creator, part wing, part left or right forward and trusted that the player’s strength, skill, quickness and pace would be too much for the defense to handle. And the return he got from both players would suggest that he was right.

He goes deep to get the ball frequently IMO. A lot of the time he starts his run from the left centre of the park which is the DML position.

Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13

Because Azpilicueta often finds himself crossing the ball from the bye line, and because Vertonghen often stays up after corners because he fancies a pop at goal, doesn't make them wingers or centre forwards, does it?

Rooney often collects from deep, like Bale, but I don't see anyone on this forum suggesting that he should become a central midfielder, let alone a DM, do you?

DML stands for Left Wingback, i didnt say a central defensive midfielder by DM

Re: English Premiership Rating Predictions 2012/13

Ron Vlaar?will he rise

Not in the next review imo.

Personally he's been solid, but his rating will likely be marred by the club's poor performances. Hopefully that changes at the end of the season.
