Manchester United 6-1 Nottingham Forest

Falcao bags 4 goals on his Old Trafford debut in a stunning display. Wayne Rooney and Adam Lallana pop up with the other 2 goals in a dominant display.

With Chelsea and City winning we remain a point clear at the top!

Monday nights sees the first leg of the SMFA Cup quarter finals at home to Bayern Munich. The Germans stuffed us in the group stages twice, but since then they've had a change in management but it'll be a very tough game

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

Monday night saw United go down 3-1 at home to Bayern Munich. The Germans fielded a very strong side, but with a crucial game against Chelsea on the Wednesday I had to field a weakened side, but now we have it all to do at Munich!

Tonight though the decision to rest our big name players was vindicated as we beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge moving us 4 points clear of the blues. Goals from Cahill, Mascherano and Coleman the latter with a MOM performance!

FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN

I took over at Bayern at the back end of July and have just stumbled across this thread so thought I'd chip in.

It's been a mixed bag of results since I've taken over as I try to work out which is my best side. The win percentage is only 62.5% with 10 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses from 16 matches.

The quadruple is still on though! The German Shield was won the week before I took over, I head into the German Cup 3rd Round tonight, We have a 3-1 lead against Manchester United in the Quarter Final of the SMFA Champions Cup and are 1st in the league on GD from a manager-less Leverkusen.

It's been quiet on the transfer front - I've shipped out a lot of the dead wood and fringe players and only bought in Yarmolenko for £10.8m to provide some cover on the wing. The current first team squad is:

Goalkeepers

Manuel Neuer (95)

Tom Starke (87)

Defenders

Bonfim Dante (93)

Holger Badstuber (91)

Daniel Van Buyten (89)

David Alaba (93)

Marcio Rafinha (90)

Philipp Lahm (95)

Diego Contento (85)

Midfielders

Anatoliy Tymoschuk (87)

Bastian Schweinsteiger (95)

Toni Kroos (93)

Franck Ribery (96)

Arjen Robben (95)

Andriy Yarmolenko (89)

Yao Gervinho (90)

Emre Can (87)

Forwards

Mario Mandzukic (92)

Mario Gomez (92)

Nils Petersen (87)

Thomas Muller (94)

I'm open to offers on any of the squad although it'll take special offers to prise Neuer, Alaba, Lahm, Kroos or Muller from me. Get in touch if you're interested in doing a deal.

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

Welcome to the thread Thack

Your Bayern smashed us in the first the leg the other day' date=' it'll be a different story in Munich ;)[/quote']

Looking at the past meetings in the match preview, Bayern seem to be your bogey team. We've got Dortmund in the league two days before as well. I think the aggregate score is going to be pretty close after two legs!

Let me know if you can see a deal for Ramsey and/or Coleman. :)

Yes Bayern have spanked us on every occasion :/

As for Ramsey and Coleman I'm sure we can sort something soon

Tonight's fixture with West Brom at Old Trafford was a tight one. A Radamel Falcao brace saw us to victory with Jacob scoring for the baggies.

Saturday night we'll face Fulham, however a few star names could well be rested for the trip to Munich!

United travel to Craven Cottage tomorrow evening, and with Bayern on Monday night it'll be a completely different side to one that faced West Brom Monday.

Radamel Falcao will feature due to being cup tied in the SMFA Cup, but Aaron Ramsey and Javier Mascherano are out. Argentinian Mascherano is also regrettably out of the clash with Bayern too.

Fulham 2-7 Man United

So despite resting the majority of the first team, and also a 22nd minute red card for Luke Shaw we smash Fulham 7-2!

Falcao (2), Cahill, Carrick (2), Sturridge and Remy with the goals. And with Chelsea losing we are now 7 points clear at the top!

Bring on Bayern! :D

FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN

Bayern's sketchy form has continued over the past week with a win and two draws. It would appear that the players minds are on the second leg of the SMFA Cup Quarter Final!

German Cup Round 3

Bayern Munchen 10 - 2 Rot-Weiß Oberhausen

A hat-trick from Mario Mandzukic, five goals from Arjen Robben and individual efforts from Emre Can and Toni Kroos helped the league leaders progress to the Quarter Final of the Cup. An away tie against Borussia Mönchengladbach awaits.

Division 1

Vfl Wolfsburg 1 - 1 Bayern Munchen

Wolfsburg snatched a draw with their only effort on target against a largely dominant Bayern side. Mario Gomez opened the scoring after 10 minutes before Bas Dost levelled things up for Wolfsburg. Despite Bayern's superior goal effort stats, the game fizzled out to a draw.

Division 1

Bayern Munchen 2 - 2 Borussia Dortmund

The spoils were shared in a game that pitted the league leaders against third placed Dortmund. Bayern's team was littered with fringe players in anticipation of the upcoming SMFA Cup Quarter Final but the side did just enough to take a point against a full strength Dortmund side. Lewandowski opened the scoring for Dortmund before Gervinho levelled things up three minutes later. Toni Kroos edged Bayern into a half-time lead but Gundogan's second half strike was enough to ensure the the points were shared despite a late red card for Dortmund's Durm.

With five games of the season remaining, Bayern lead the pack by 2 points and only have to face two top-half teams. It will go down to the wire but we're confident!

The only transfer news to report is that negotiations for Bayern's Philipp Lahm continue with Real Madrid. A deal is believed to be close.

Bayern Munich 2-3 Manchester United

We fought valiantly but we went to Munich with too much work to do! Goals from Khedira, Rooney and Ramsey weren't enough and United bow out of the SMFA Cup.

Explored 2 formations I haven't used much of in order to counter the 3-5-2. We played direct and attacked from the off but we fall just short!

Congrats to Bayern as they progress and will be tough contenders for any side

FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN

Yesterday was a busy day for Bayern. Goals from Thomas Muller and Luiz Gustavo were enough to see us through to the semi-finals of the SMFA Cup despite losing 3-2 to a strong Manchester United side. The only blot on the copybook was Thomas Muller's 33rd minute yellow card which will see him miss the away leg against Barcelona on 22 September.

In the early hours of the morning, Philipp Lahm officially became a Real Madrid player in a deal which sees Luka Modric (94) and Benedikt Howedes (90) join the Germans. The deal is thought to be good for both parties with Lahm and Modric likely to slot straight into their respective starting XIs and Howedes providing top quality cover for Bayern.

Another deal between between Die Roten and Los Blancos that is breaking right now is an agreement which takes Arjen Robben to the Bernabeu and sees Mesut Ozil (94) and Jose Callejon (90) head to the Allianz Arena.

These deals allow Bayern to continue fielding an excellent starting XI while having extra fire-power in reserve to help them fight on all four fronts.

Reading 1-6 Man United

Manchester United smash Reading in a dominant display. Aaron Lennon bags a hat-trick, a brace from Rooney and Daniel Sturridge with the goals. We remain 5 clear with 5 to play.

In transfer news United were knocked back in their attempts to sign Toni Kroos and could be making further bids come seasons end. It is thought though that United could well be up for deals

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN

Division 1

Greuther Fürth 1 - 5 Bayern München

The league leaders opted for another mix of first team and fringe players for their visit to the Trolli Arena but it was enough to run out 5-1 winners. Howedes scored on his debut in a game which also saw goals from Muller, Gomez (2) and Ribery.

Transfer News

Sadio Mane has signed for Bayern for £4.25m after being without a club for some time. Mane (87) is expected to provide attacking cover in midfield and at just 22, has plenty of time to develop.

Friendly

Real Madrid 2 - 2 Bayern München

Despite taking the lead twice and dominating possession and goal attempts, Bayern were pegged back to a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in this mid-season friendly. Ozil opened the scoring against his former club before Higuain levelled up proceedings. Ribery made it 2-1 10-minutes from time but Ronaldo made it 2-2 just a minute later to settle an entertaining tie.

Transfer News

Anatoliy Tymoschuk (87) has left the club to join Zenit on a deal worth £2.7m. The Ukrainian has played an important role at the club this season but it is thought that his chances would become limited following recent arrivals.

Division 1

Bayern München 3 - 2 SC Paderborn 07

Recent transfer activity paid dividends for the league leaders as they battled to a 3-2 victory over Paderborn. All three goals came from signings made within the last week with Howedes getting his second of the campaign and Callejon scoring a brace. Die Roten did find themselves 2-1 down with 15 minutes remaining before turning on the style to open up a 5-point gap at the top of the table with just 3 games remaining. It was a debut to forget for Sadio Mane who will be out of action for over a month with achilles tendonitis.

Transfer News

Bruno Varela (78) joins the club for £700k from a free agent. The stopper is only 19 years old and this deal is thought to open the door for veteran back-up keeper Tom Starke to leave the club. Mitchell Weiser also leaves the club on loan to PEC Zwolle for the remainder of the season.

German Cup Quarter Final

Borussia Mönchengladbach 1 - 5 Bayern München

Bayern breezed into the German Cup Semi Finals thanks to a debut goal for Luka Modric, a Thomas Muller hat-trick and a Mario Gomez strike. Bayern will face 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the Semi Final in 10 days time. The quadruple is still on!

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

Since last posting....

We scraped past Newcastle on penalties to progress to the FA Cup semi finals against Swansea.

Closely followed was Aston Villa at home in which we claimed all 3 points thanks to goals from Mascherano and Lennon in a 2-1 victory. The win meant should City and Chelsea drop points and we win away at Leicester then we'd claim the title.

United took apart Leicester in a 5-3 victory with goals from Rooney (2) Lennon, Falcao and Kagawa. And with City losing and Chelsea being held we claim another Premiership title!

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

Manchester United win the Premiership title again, their 3rd in 5 seasons. Won with games to spare and only lost 2 games all season

FA Cup final over City didn't go well though, despite playing against 10 men for 89 minutes we slumped to an un inspiring 2-0 defeat. Normally have the upper hand over City but failed to change our usual tactics to what we play against them and thus we lost.

All in all a good season, shame to have surrendered our SMFA Cup crown but we came up against a formidable side and will be looking forward to going head to head with Bayern again in the future. The German comprehensively knocked out Barcelona in the semi finals and will face fellow Germans Borussia Dortmund in the final tonight.

Bring on season 6!

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

Haven't posted here in a while!

Season 6 started horribly for United. We lost the charity shield to City and failed to win any of the opening 3 games, with a defeat to our bogey side Norwich City and a shambolic defensive display in a 3-3 draw to Middlesbrough, and then we suffered defeat to Arsenal in a shield going out on penalties

Since then we've won 6 of the last 7 league fixtures and lie just 3 points behind City. We also sit top of Group D in the SMFA Cup after wins over Benfica and Vaslui and a draw with Barcelona.

Re: Gold Championship 188 Thread

So nearly 3 months since last posting!

Having fought well to catch City in the league we went on to lose 3 fixtures in a row, the last of which was against City themselves and we have all but surrendered our title with 5 games to go as we our now 13 points off top.

Along with that bad period of form we were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa, who were also one of the sides who defeated us in the league to put a halt to catching City.

Some good news is that we have progressed to the Semi Finals of the SMFA Cup after defeating Villarreal (5-0 agg) and Chelsea (2-1 agg) We now face Shakhtar with Bayern and Barcelona taking on eachother in the other semi final.

On the transfer front it's been rather dull. With barely any managers responding to requests, bids or general queries it's hard going. James Milner, Will Hughes, Fabian Delph and Felipe Anderson have all joined from externals, bulking our squad further to compete on all 4 fronts.

But the most exciting news is that Cristiano Ronaldo will be returning. This afternoon a fee was agreed with the new Real Madrid boss. Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao and £10million cash will be going to Madrid. A good deal for both sides I feel, especially the Spanish side not having much squad depth, but since trying from Day 1 in August 2012 we finally have Ronaldo back where he belongs!

Cristiano Ronaldo Returns To Old Trafford

861-cristiano-ronaldo-smiling-in-world-cup-2014-press-conference.jpg

This morning saw former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, return to England and at Old Trafford. The fans favourite will most certainly be welcomed back with open arms, and looks set to go straight into the side for the home fixture to Queens Park Rangers.

18422.jpg3580.jpg

Departed: Angel Di Maria & Radamel Falcao

It was a hefty price tag with Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao and £10million cash for the recently turned 30 year old, however with Ronaldo a proven talent in England and Spain, no one will really doubt if he will hit form for United next season in their pursuit of regaining their Premier title from rivals City.

With the departure of Falcao it means that Daniel Sturridge and Jackson Martinez look set to gain a lot more game time in a United shirt, with many fans happy with this outcome.

Within days of landing Cristiano Ronaldo, United look set to land French centre half Varane from rivals Chelsea. The deal is yet to be concluded and yet to be officially announced by both clubs, but sources suggest the deal will be finalised tomorrow morning.

Nottingham Forest 0-3 Manchester United

With the first teamers being rested for Shakhtar on Monday night it was an impressive performance all the same. United bossed possession and scored 3 good goals thanks to Milner, Carrick and Martinez.

Another deal has been agreed for United, and it will see Theo Walcott come to Old Trafford with Shinji Kagawa and Glen Johnson going to Arsenal. After the embarrassing manner of how we surrendered our title to City we needed to rebuild and that means plenty of players are leaving, and new blood will be coming in!

Man United 1-4 Shakhtar

An embarrassing night at Old Trafford. An encounter in which we created more attempts sees us spanked in our own back yard. Walcott scores in debut but all in all a frankly pathetic display from United

A season to forget

Season 7 - An Update!

Been a while so here goes!

Last season was certainly one to forget! Manchester City went on to win the title at a canter, securing the title with 93 points and scoring an incredible 131 goals, and winning 29 of their 38 games. Not a lot we could do about their imperious form and we finished runners up and 14 points behind. On the European front we were dumped out in the semi finals against Shakhtar 6-3 on aggregate.

So season 7 we had to do better! The season however started terribly. A 5-2 drubbing at home to Fulham, closely followed by a defeat to rivals Chelsea. Fortunately for us City didn't start to well either and after 19 games we are currently 2nd behind unmanaged Liverpool and City have already lost games than they did in the whole of last season

Current Table

1 - Liverpool 40pts

2 - Man United 39pts

3 - Chelsea 39pts

4 - Arsenal 37pts

5 - Man City 37pts

6 - QPR 37pts

As for Europe, we go into tonights final group game with player hogging Boca Juniors already qualified. We are currently top with 11 points, just above Olympiakos who are on 10 points.

SMFA Cup - Group H

1 - Man United 11pts

2 - Olympiakos 10pts

3 - Benfica 5pts

4 - Boca Juniors 1pt

Domestic cups, Stoke City knocked us out of the Shield in the 5th round on penalties.

Could do better is certainly the feeling so far! Fortunately Ronaldo and Sturridge are hitting the back of the net!
