Re: Official Manchester United Thread

Could it not still be 3 at the back with a line-up like:-

De Gea

Rojo Evans Blackett

Rafael------------------------Blind

Herrera Di Maria

Mata

Rooney RVP

Not when LVG has just said they are playing 4-4-2 :P

Re: Official Manchester United Thread

You do realise he played central for Madrid at times where arguably he had some of his best games

You're right actually, except that he was the most advanced of a midfield 3 with Xabi and Modric behind him whereas in your formation he doesn't seem to have that much of a freedom to go in advanced positions (considering that Herrera isn't an out-and-out DM either) or else the midfield would be exposed.

We can't say anything about how he'd perform in that role until we see him play there although I for one would prefer not to overload him with defensive duties.

Re: Official Manchester United Thread

Van Persie has been ineffective as per usual, his place in the team has to be under real threat with the arrival of Falcao.

di Maria - Finally we have a player that can turn defence into attack within seconds.

Does Fellaini get into this team now? Or does he spend the season on the bench' date=' as personally I'd have Carrick over him any day.[/quote']

Fellaini can do one.

Re: Official Manchester United Thread

Always good to get a win' date='but how bad are QPR?[/quote']

They've played bad but Di Maria and Herrera have just controlled it in the final third.

Blind has been terrific in front of the back 4 every attack that QPR muster is snuffled out quickly by hard workers in midfield.

Hopefully those doubting Herrera's defensive game may realise after today how good he actually is in tracking back and tackling.

Really the only concern I have is how awful Evans and Blackett's pass backs have been to De Gea putting him under unnecessary pressure.
