DIVISION 2

With Paris Saint Grmain clinching the Division 2 title, the last match of 10,000 BC Season 4 sees not 1, not 2, but 4 contenders for the last two promotion spots. Indeed the current season has been very competitive in Division 2 - only 5 points separate the 2nd and 8th-placed teams.

As things stand, AC Milan, Schalke, Porto, and CSKA all stand decent chances of making it to the prestigious Division 1 next season, should results go their way.

So, what exactly does each team need to enjoy a spell in the top flight?

Milan sit in second place on 34 points, but with only a 1 point lead over third and fourth-placed Schalke and Porto, the manager knows that the next match against 10th-placed Bayer Leverkusen is still a must-win. The fixture should not be too tough for the Rossoneri, who have managed 19 points from their last 8 games. They are likely to continue employing their favoured 3-5-2 formation. Should they lose points at the BayArena, they must hope that both Schalke and Porto get the same result as well to ensure their promotion.

Third-placed and ahead of Porto by a goal difference of 7, and 1 point behind Milan, Schalke occupies the third and last promotion spot. Die Königsblauen know that this last game of the season will be crucial should they want to play in the top flight next season, though their current form is worrying. A win over CSKA will definitely see them promoted, though a draw may be just enough, should Porto lose their match.

After being held to a draw by Leverkusen, Porto have fallen out of the top three, but are still in position to seize a promotion spot. However, a little luck must come into play. Anything but a win against Chelsea would spell the end of their dreams of making a return to Division 1, and they must hope that either Schalke or AC Milan drop points. With all the players in the squad fit and ready to fight on Thursday, the club looks sharp against Chelsea. But judging from past seasons, Porto always has a knack of slipping up in tough matches.

The Russian outfit has won 3 and lost 3 in their last 6 games. While not in best form, they can still achieve their dreams of playing in Division 1 next season. Promotion is simple - beat Schalke away, and hope Porto doesn't beat Chelsea. On the bright side, Schalke doesn't boast the best form either. CSKA dropped their favoured 4-2-3-1 formation in their last match, choosing instead to play a defensive 3-5-2. While the tactical switch paid off, it remains to be seen if the manager will revert to the old formation or play the new one against Schalke, who have consistently stuck by their modified 3-5-2.

MAKE IT COUNT

Zenit 1 - 4 Atl. Mineiro

(1 - 4 agg)

Mineiro have made it through to the SMFA cup final, the biggest game in the world, where they will face surprise opponents; Newcastle United, who managed to beat Manchester United on penalties.

The score suggested Mineiro dominated the game, however they only managed 4 shots on target, compared to Zenit's 11. The difference is, they made them count! Mineiro are now hoping for a big cash pay-out and hopefully a ticket to the SMFA supercup next season :D

Udinese Reveal 3 Big Signings

After many serious injury concerns Josh Dagnall has finally decided to dip into the transfer window to add some depth to his squad. After careful consideration and searching he has found 3 players who will be of great importance in the final game of the season and the coming seasons.

1. Richmond Boakye joins as the 3rd youth player at Udinese.

Boakye-1.jpg

After Carlos Tevez suffered a serious injury and poor ratings of other striking options, Joshua Dagnall went on the look out for a more long term striking option and decided upon young Ghanain striker Boakye.

2. Didier Ya Konan strengthens the attack of Udinese.

Following the trend of African strikers, Josh Dagnall brought in 29yo Ivorian Ya Konan. I believe that Ya Konan will become a hugely important player and will give us many more options up front whilst bringing great experience.

3. Oscar Wendt final piece of the puzzle for final day?

The final signing Josh Dagnall has made before his crucial final game of the season is Oscar Wendt from Monchengladbach. The Swedish international will provide cover at LB for illegal player Fanchone who will be heading the other way. At 27 years old this fella still has some good years ahead of him.

Other News:

Milan Bisevac settling in well

Experienced Lyon CB Milan Bisevac joined Udinese a couple of weeks ago to bolster the defence and played his debut in the 2-1 win against Madrid. His transfer went under the radar and he has settled in very well. I'm hoping for a full strength side on promotion day where all 4 new signings may feature.
