Re: Blondie/Deborah Harry thread

I'll start it off by saying my first Blondie concert was at the Apollo Theatre, Glasgow NEW YEARS EVE 1979.

It was to mark the end of the 70's and was live on BBC2's The Old Grey Whistle Test. (now available to buy on DVD)

Re: Blondie/Deborah Harry thread

I'll be adding to this thread to keep it fresh and interesting.

it would be nice to hear from Blondie fans to share our stories.

However, that depends on the average age of the SM members.

(i don't think its in the 40 yr old bracket lol)

I go to the official BLONDIE forums etc for the real blondie stories.

THIS IS JUST FOR FUN

Fraser, The Parallel Lines album is arguably their best, but i also like "Eat To The Beat" album too. (the album after Parallel Lines, Atomic etc)

BLONDIE RELATED ITEMS, WILL BE HERE.

FEEL FREE TO COMMENT, POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE. :D

Re: Blondie/Deborah Harry thread

PS, Fraser, you should click on the Blondie sites listed on my first post to this thread.

my own tribute on myspace has videos to watch and at the bottom of the page theirs a documentary for 1 hr of SCHEME. (Glasgow band)

(this was shown on channel 4 in 1985/86 i think)

SCHEME is a good doc and i'm sure most people would enjoy.

(not young uns tho, cos language is rough)

if you've a spare 1 hr, have a look at the documentary.

if not, you can let me know wot u think of my tribute page.

You can let me know your thoughts.

Re: Blondie/Deborah Harry thread

Fraser, I liked the solo stuff like "French Kissin' and i think it woulda been a bigger success if it had the Blondie label attached to it.

Greig, it was after a gig at CBGB's. Debbie was walking along the street when a truck driver whistled and shouted "hey Blondie" (he didn't know her name but she had blonde hair)

Debbie told the band cos it was simple and short.

So, they changed their name to "BLONDIE"

At the time they were known as " ANGEL AND THE SNAKE"

So, it was a NEW YORK truck driver that they got their name from.

Re: Blondie/Deborah Harry thread

To finish off for tonight, here's a BLONDIE video of them singing "start me up" (Rolling Stones/Mick Jagger number).

This was in Toronto in 1982. (i think its a good version, however, you can never be as good as the original artist)

I hope you ALL enjoy. :D

Re: Blondie/Deborah Harry thread

BLONDIE is a band not Debbie only.

They started out as "Angel and the Snake", but because Debbie had blonde hair and the lead singer, she got called BLONDIE, cos no-one knew her name.

(they had just started out).

"BLONDIE IS A BAND" was the slogan on their T-Shirts that they wore in early 1980's to highlight that they had other band members.

Debbie + Chris write most of the songs, however, Keyboard player Jimmy Destri wrote the No.1 called Maria.

KEEP POSTING GUYS WITH YOUR COMMENTS.

Fraser, Picture This is one of my favourites as well, great song. :D
