Manchester United 4 - 2 West Ham United

Manchester United stay 2nd in the table after their 4-2 victory over West Ham. They were 1-0 behind to the clarets after 16 minutes as loanee michalis konstantinou nodded home a dangerous cross, but United were level on 28 minutes when MOM Ryan Giggs finished off a good move with a neat finish in the box, and then took the lead 3 minutes later through Wayne Rooney as he bet 2 defenders and finished well to round off a great solo effort. But then it was Luis Boa Morte who levelled the scoreline as on 35 minutes he bet the offside trap and slid the ball home under the advancing goalkeeper, and thats the way the score stayed until half-time. But then an inspirational team talk by Danny Mackey got his team up for the game, and his troops did not dissapoint as less than 10 minutes into the second half United had regained the lead through Ryan Giggs' second of the game, and then Wayne Rooney finished the game off 6 minutes later when he hit a powerful shot into the back of the net to record his 8th goal of the season and remain the EPL's top scorer. It was nothing less than the Red Devils' deserved as they dominated, with 57% of the possession, peppering Jussi Jaaskelainen's goal with 28 shots, 14 of which on target. Dimitar Berbatov also put in another very good game, setting up an amazing 7 goals already so far this season. Next up in the league is a trip to Anfield, but Manchester United can go into this game with confidence after already beating both Arsenal and Chelsea convincingly so far in the opening 6 games of the league.

Celtic 4-1 Dundee

Celtic kept up with Kilmarnock in the title race last night, with an emphatic win at home to Dundee. Elsewhere Killie dispatched Clyde 2-0 at Broadwood.

---

Ross Philp again experimented with a new formation, as he looked to improve on his side's lack of scoring. The striker's hadn't been firing so both Tchite and Ewerthon were left out, with Scott McDonald coming in.

---

After only one minute, Ebi Smolarek opened the scoring for Celtic. The Dundee defence's heads must've been elsewhere, while Smolarek finished cooly. Only one minute later Dundee equalised through Christian Mayrleb. The striker beat two Celtic defenders and slotted home. Celtic re-gained the advantage only four minutes later through defender Steven Pressley. With 8 minutes gone, the big defender lobbed the ball over the Dundee keeper, Fabian Carini. Only five minutes before half-time, Massimo Donati made it 3-1, delighting boss Ross Philp. Scott McDonald's corner was met by Donati, who fired in a ferocious header.

---

Ebi Smolarek struck again 17 minutes from time, making it 4-1 to the Champions. After a terrible mix-up yet again in the Dundee defence, Smolarek capitalised firing home an easy chance.

---

smolarek%20mecz3.jpg

Smolarek got his season's tally up and running, putting two past Dundee keeper Carini.

---

After the match Philp praised his side for finally winning by more than one solitary goal - 'I was pleased tonight, by the performance and also the scoreline. It was vital that we begun to win more emphatically, and tonight we did just that. Scott(McDonald) has come in and done very well, and will play next week against Motherwell. Wee Aiden done great tonight too, along with Ebi who was fantastic.'

---

player-image-108904.jpg

McGeady grabbed the man of the match award tonight, having a hand in three of Celtic's four goals tonight. A good performance.

Real Betis manager and Chairman said that this was a great result for them and this could kick start there season.

First Half

The first meaningful attack on goal was on 19 minutes and that was the goal it was set up by great play in the midfield and left back Torres Fernando Vega who overlapped on the left hand side and was proved to be a good move as it brought the goal. The last and probably the second biggest chance of the game fell to Real Betis as well and it fell to David Odonkor who should of scored but failed to find the goal on the rebound. The second half was a closely fought battle but Real Betis created the best chances and made one of them count and go into the break 1 up.

Half Time - Real Betis 1 - 0 Atlético Madrid

Second Half

With Real Betis starting the second half with a one goal advantage and that should have been canceled out 4 minutes into the second half and with all of the talent Sabrosa Simao has he should have scored but he didn't and Real Betis got away with it. The whole of the second half was dominated by Atlético Madrid but they couldn't make it count and the game ended up 1-0 to Real Betis.

Full Time - Real Betis 1 - 0 Atlético Madrid

Real Betis goal scorer - Torres Fernando Vega

Atlético Madrid goal scorer - None

Man Of the Match - Torres Fernando Vega

Manager Arsenal 123 said "It is a great win for us and it has shown that we have the ability to beat big clubs and i believe that after a slow start to the season we can now build on this and i hope that we can now get a string of results together."

GAZLAD WANTS IMPROVMENT

I want a big improvement from sociedad today, as the last few performances this season have been well below acceptable, we play ELCHE today at home and i won't settle for anything apart from a win, the lads know that the axe is being sharpened and some of them are in for the chop but with no money available they know that i can't bring players in apart from onloan. Me and the chairman have sat down and expressed our feelings and what is going to be changed for the benifet for the club, i've got 100% backing from the chairman and board.

It started off on a sour note when Gretna defender Powell headed home in the 3rd minute, stunning the hopeful home fans.

It stayed like that until Falkirk finally made the breakthrough on the 33rd Minute, thanks to Turkish U19 player, Ozgurcan.

He also put Falkirk in the lead on the 41th Minute, sending Toggs in a very happy boss.

Half Time - Falkirk 2-1 Gretna

They came back out and it was a quiet half with Falkirk set to win but on the 87th Minute, Faty scored for Gretna, for what looked like a away point.

Until the restart when a creative move resulted in Craig, starting his 2nd game, blasted home and the Falkirk fans went wild. A Falkirk fan came on and tapped Gretna keeper, Zdravkov on the Collarbone, which ended up with the keeps holding his head and going off on a strecther ... :D

Liverpool 1 - 6 Manchester United

Manchester United swept aside Liverpool at Anfield today just as easy as they have disposed of Arsenal and Chelsea already this season. The route started in just the 2nd minute when Paul Scholes went on a foraging run and thumped the ball into the back of the net. Then 2 quick-fire goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes in the 14th and 15th minute respectively put them 3 goals to the good. Wayne Rooney got his 9th and 10th goals of the season already as on the 35th minute the england striker crashed home a header and then on the 39th minute he struck again when he lost his marker and thumped the ball under the despairing goalkeeper and that is the way it stayed for quite a while, but then on 70 minutes some quick-thinking from Torsten Frings allowed him to pick the ball up from a short corner and curl the ball past the unsighted keeper, to score his first goal in a Red Devil shirt. Liverpool did get 1 back on 72 minutes through Xabi Alonso but that was the way it stayed. United absolutely dominated the game, having more than 2/3's of the possession, and having 30 shots on goal, 13 of which being on target. Next up Unted will welcome Wigan Athletic to Old Trafford.

Juventus Latest

A comfortable 3-1 win away to Parma for Juventus was probably the only positive from the game after both Daniele Bonera and Andrade picked up injuries which will keep them out for Wednesdays game. Bonera is expecting to be back within 5 days whilst Andrade's injury will keep him out till at least the 30th October.

Baldo had this to say, "Well against Livorno on Wednesday, I think our defence will stilll be strong. Zebina - Boumsong - Chiellini - Molinaro. Bonera and Grygera will then be back for Saturday but without Andrade for the crucial games, we could lose valuable points."

salihamidzic.jpg

Salihamidzic has been made available after the Right sided defender/midfielder told Baldo he wanted to leave due to the lack of games. Juventus confirmed the rumour this morning, saying they'd prefer a swap deal involving a 90+ defender.

Sporting fall to a 1-1 draw!

Sporting had a horrible night, managing only a 1-1 draw with Maccabi Haifa at the Kiryat Eliezer in front of 17,836 fans. The were virtually superior in everything, except for shots on goal, which they had 1. It was lucky that went in. Milan PUROVIC sent his team into the lead in the 26th min, before Yaniv KATAN equalised in the 47th min.

Pre Match Analysis:

From Stamford Bridge Chelsea take on Bolton Wanderers in the Barclay's Premiership.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joe Cole and Alex come into the squad after Florent Malouda, Michael Essien and John Terry are all rested.

Claudio Pizarro keeps his place alongside Freddie Kanoute in order to impress manager Sam Wainwright and Massimo Ambrosini starts his 4 consecutive game for Chelsea this season.

New Boys Yoann Pele, de Carvalho Correia Kleber, Turan Arda and Craig

Bellamy all start for the trotters. Bolton come into the game on a 4 game winning streak and Chelsea come into the game on a 2 game losing streak!

First Half:

We get underway here at the Bridge and that’s a beautiful through ball to Joe Cole who threads the ball into the path of Kanoute who smashes it across the bar! Fantastic start from the blues and Sam Wainwright's boys are up for this game. Pele boots the ball back up the field as Kleber finds Wilhelmsson who beats Alex with ease and chips Cech for surely 1-0 but Ricardo Carvalho clears the ball off the line! Excellent flow to this game with only 2 minutes gone!

Joe Cole picks up the ball and majestically passes Meite with ease and he pulls off a brilliant shot only to go inches wide! But in the lead up to the shot Kleber caught Cole and it’s a free kick, and in disgust, Kleber kicks the ball away which results in a yellow card for the Brazilian.

The free kick is hammered at the wall and Wilhelmsson picks it up! Bolton are on the charge its 3 against 2, Wilhelmsson advances with Kleber screaming for the ball but Wilhelmsson takes it himself and rifles it wide! Should’ve passed the Swede.

Chelsea launch an attack yet again with Ashley Cole near the corner flag, he shimmy's around Meite and gets in a brilliant cross and Lampard Kanoute and Pizarro all lack the final touch!

The ball is terribly cleared as it falls to Ambrosini who belts the ball and it's in off the post! 1-0 Chelsea and you could sense a goal was coming!

Bolton restart and Meite makes a terrible touch and it's a Chelsea throw. Wright-Phillips controls the pass from the throw and gets the cross in oh! And Joe Cole missed the goal with the simplest of headers! Should’ve been 2-0!

Bolton attack again but this time Nolan is caught napping! Chelsea break again with Wright-Phillips yet again as he crosses the ball and Kanoute pulls off a miraculous overhead kick! But Pele tips it over the bar!

The corner is taken but its short to Ashley Cole who crosses the ball but is taken out late from Meite and surely that’s a yellow card, and it is. Chelsea have a dangerous free kick on the edge of the box, yet again it's short and Ricardo Carvalho receives the ball who dribbles round Davies and Nolan and shoots! But he was falling and the shot goes wide.

Poor goal kick from Pele and it falls to Pizarro who makes a run into Bolton’s half who feeds it through to Kanoute whose onside turns and shoots and it's 2-0 to the blues! Freddy Kanoute with his 2nd of the season in a blue shirt and Chelsea look lethal out there.

Bolton restart as Kevin Davies urge's his team not to get too complacent and as he says it Nolan loses out to Pizarro who rifles it from 30 yards but Pele parry's it but Kanoute follows up and slots it under the keeper! 3-0 Chelsea and Kanoute bags his second of the game!

Bolton restart with 10 seconds of added time to go and Davies shoots from the kick off but disappointingly hits the billboards near the corner flag.

Second Half:

No subs by either team at half time as Chelsea gets us underway for the 5th time this game.

Chelsea attack from the kick off straight away and Lampard found a lucky way through the defence! Only for his first touch to let him down and Pele gathers it oh no he doesn't! He’s missed the ball and Pizarro sprints in and pops it in from the tightest of angles! And it's 4-0 Chelsea! This is a white wash.

173473.jpg

Piece Of Pizarro...Claudio bags goal for 4-0

Bolton pass it around at the back from the restart and it looks like they've thrown in the towel, but Shaun Wright-Phillips poaches the ball off Ivan Campo and shoots! But the balls tipped over for a corner. SWP will take the corner and it's swung in and Kanoute gets a head on it! But it's straight into the hands of Pele. Kanoute searching for his 3rd.

Pele boots the ball up the field as it bounce's over Carvalho's head and Davies heads it towards goal and Cech pulls off what has to be one of the greatest saves this season!

Corner for Bolton as Campo swings it in and Davies is there again! And yet again Petr Cech pushes it wide again with another superb save and Bolton have returned!

The Corner from Campo goes out of play on the way in, very disappointing for the trotters.

Cech takes the goal kick and finds Joe Cole who lobs Campo runs into the box and tries to lob Pele with a header but it lands on the top of the goal! And Joe Cole has gone down from that and it looks like he has pulled something.

The ball is booted up field and it finds Nolan who through balls it to Wilhelmsson who shoots and it flashes wide of the post.

Two substitutions one for either team, looks like Joe Cole is injured and he is replaced by Florent Malouda and for Bolton Kevin Davies who has been the driving force for Bolton in all fairness is being replaced by Nicholas Anelka.

Chelsea break yet again from a goal kick and this time Pizarro ambitiously shoots from 30 yards but it's just over the bar.

Bolton advance up the field again and Anelka turns and shoots! And yet again Petr Cech pulls off a superb save to deny Bolton yet again.

Cech boots the ball up field and it falls to Kanoute who bounces the ball off the floor turns and volleys and it’s just over! But he looks at the floor to say the pitch was to blame. The referee for some reason has given a corner and even Freddy looks surprised, the corner is taken and it falls to Kanoute who slips and really should've finished it off, still 4-0 here.

Malouda picks up the ball from another bad goal kick from Pele as Malouda produces a brilliant pass to Pizarro who is unmarked as he advances, shoots and it's past the keeper and in off the post! 5-0 Chelsea!

0,,1004~3200212,00.jpg

No No Nolan...Nolan shows frustration.

Bolton attack straight from the kick off as it's crossed by Nolan and it beats Cech but Arda nutts it into the stands! Golden chance! And Arda knows it.

Chelsea counter attack yet again and this time Pizarro is lofted a ball to him but an alerted Gary Speed heads it over the bar for safety. Bellamy is complaining to the referee and receives a yellow card probably for his colourful yet funny language.

The final whistle goes and Sam Wainwright will be very pleased with his team today they pulled off a superb win against inform Bolton.

Man Of The Match:

Even though he went off in the 60th minute, Joe Cole was absolutely phenominal on the ball and was unlucky not to score when he had the chance probably Chelsea's best performance of the season.

Scottish Shield - Round 1

Falkirk Vs St Johnstone

Falkirk oviously go into this match in the 1st round of the cup firm favourites, but Thomas will let some of his morely unplayed players make a mark on tonights game.

Moutinho and Ozgurcan are defintly starting upfront put it is still undecided anywhere else, with Bernard, Thomson, Affjes and Agathe all expected to play in the game.

Johnstones hopes will most definitly not be boosted as they will miss there star defender, James for the match and there next game, which is in the league, also against Falkirk.

If Falkirk do the double over them in the Cup and League they would have won 6 games in a row, things are looking up at Falkirk.

70098.jpg

Expected to play with Ozygurcan upfront.

Guys ive seen some absalutly outstanding match reports and reviews on this thread, i genuinely have!

Sam's Chelsea reports, Toggs Reviews, Everything!

Keep it up :)

Ajax look to hand Wallner full Ajax debut tonight!

Its understood, former Falkirk forward Roman Wallner will be given a full chance 90 minuits for Ajax for the first time since arriving. " Roman's a mature lad, young and still learning the game," Tom said " But considering he's a fit boy for tonight, he'll get the whole match under his belt,"

" Jan ( Huntelaar) Cant be playing all the time, 24/7 and he knows that, so He's likely to not be included in our 16 man squad in the cup tonight,"

Another man looking to get a debut for Ajax tonight is Ca, arriving from nancy not long ago in the current season. " Ca's chances are high tonight, i expect much from this guy indeed,"

" He's exciting, extremely,"

" He guards the defense nicely,"

Tom then went on to talk about the weekend shock defeat to Roda JC.

" Ajax as a high profile club's been far from its best this season, we know it,"

" Of course i want to win many trophies here, thats why im here, but we were far from average at the weekend, we'll be looking to work on our weaknesses as much and as long as it takes to get it 100% to my consideration,"

" I can assure you as much as the world, that this club will win something this season, fact,"
