Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

Isco would be a quality signing! If Malaga need to balance the books, guess it could be a goer? Not sure he'd want to leave if they qualify for CL group stage though.

Whens Modric actually going to leave? Would be nice to head into the last few days of the window with some cash, rather than the last few hours

He's linked with United atm...

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

I would be absolutely buzzing and very confident.

Likewise, but think we may go 1 step back before we go 2,3,4 steps forward. Think it will take time for our lads to adjust to tactics and what must surely be improved fitness levels in order to sustain a high pressing game. One wonders if we'll all be knackered again come March and end the season like a wet ****.

Exciting times at the Lane though, for me the most exciting summer since we signed Klinsmann

I would absolutely love Isco personally, exactly what we need IMO.

Not sure, few ramblings that is done but nothing concrete. Few guys that sometimes get stuff correct, sometimes wrong have claimed done but not the respected couple.

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

Can't be true, probably just a pipe dream from Arnesen. Quality players like VDV don't just grow on trees & his understanding that he forged with Ade last season was a joy to behold at times.

Maybe we can convince Arnesen that Jenas & Gomes are much better players & would be more suited to life in Germany?

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

Snippets From AVB's Press Conference :

#thfc AVB isn't ducking the challenge of top 4 finish: 'Thats what was proposed to me and that's what I accept'

#thfc AVB on Huddlestone: 'We can't wait to have Tom back to match fitness level'

#thfc AVB definitely sees a future for Huddlestone at Spurs. He's being loaned out to get match fit again and get back to his best.

#thfc AVB also said he's been aware of Damiao for a while and went to watch him in Brazil, but Spurs aren't looking for another striker now.

#thfc AVB said he was interested in Willian last year when he was at Chelsea but wouldn't go further than that 'out of respect for Shakhtar'

#thfc Parker's about 2 weeks away from resuming training and Dos Santos pulled a muscle in training today.

#thfc AVB says Kaboul is out of Saturday's game after experiencing pain in his knee (again). He's gone to see a specialist.

Lies.

Sneaky bugger is that AVB ;)

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

Only way i can see it happening is if he puts a request in. Inter are notoriously hard to deal with and have a fair few bob. So don't need to necessarily sell

Am I right in thinking that neither club nor player have categorically said no? So whilst that remains the case there's hope!

Can't help thinking that Inter were/are holding out for a bidding war for him, but it doesn't appear to have happened. We have good links with Inter so confident the deal will be done. Hope so anyway!

I hope it's done cos I like to see the best players in the PL. I just mean I wouldn't been surprised if it didn't happen

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

Now i have stopped laughing i thought i would post this Spurs fan's perspective that i just read on Goal.com LOL

Can't believe that there hasn't been more press about this. I'm a die hard Tottenham fan and frankly I'm stunned by the lack of brains on display at the helm of our club.

When Spurs finish 8th or 9th this season - which WILL happen - and they start to analyse where things went wrong, it won't be the tricky Xmas fixtures or some bad decisions or a poor run of form. It will come down to this:

We have sacked a manager that achieved our best and most consistant league finishes in several generations because his name didn't sound foreign enough. We've replaced him with a promising young manager, but with a lot to prove after his only other English football experience led to a quick dismissal. On top of that we have chosen to hamstring him by selling all of our fringe players and reserves and bringing almost no quality in to replace them.

Simple common sense tells me that those around us have strengthened. We have not. We are a worse squad and team than we were last season and we're trying to play in a new system. Modric will be sold right at the last minute for every last penny they can wring from the deal with Madrid and there will be no time to replace him, no doubt with a last ditch proposed move for Moutinho falling through seconds from the deadline. Once again the bank managers will be happy and the fans will be left shortchanged - the recent story of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Gross misconduct - Levy out!!

LOL Again!!

Utter LOL. Unfortunately there are a few fans who think this about Levy. If they knew the story, they would know it was Harry's fault.

We had everything agreed on Suarez, Cavani and Huntelaar for twitchy to turn round and say he isn't sure they are good enough or what we need. Instead he goes and gets Saha and Crouch

Really?! Wow, never knew that. That's enough to make any hardened Spurs fan angry. The firepower any 1 or a combination of those 3 would add to any teams front line would be top drawer (Cavani especially, big fan of his).

So what's our current state of play? Assuming that the only deals we're working on now are Damiao & Moutinho (& Willian)? Do they hinge on Modric leaving or do we already have the wonga available?

I'm looking forward to the West Brom game, 1st home game of the season so expecting a strong performance & a healthy 3-0/3-1 win I reckon. I know they'll be full of confidence after last weeks win against Liverpool but they're never the strongest team on the road.

Have some rep matey' date=' couldn't say it better myself.[/quote']

Only just spotted this, cheers! Shame to see Dawson go but times change. I think if AVB had the power to get rid of Terry at Chelsea he would have done, as he's as suited to AVB's system as Dawson is.

Can't take away from Dawson how consistent he's been for us over a very long period of time though, his partnership with King was a joy to behold at times. I hope Michael succeeds at pastures new.

Suarez was same window he went to Liverpool, Cavani was when he left Palermo and Huntelaar was when he went to Schalke.

Seems the real knowledgable people are keeping their cards close to their chest, Leandro is the only player they have really commited to. Isco has had our interest confirmed and he is an option. Some of it certainly depends on Modric leaving. I hope we don't get Willian if I am honest, massively expensive and I don't rate him.

Confident for tomorrow. Got my usual seat in Park Lane waiting for me. Bet it's missed me!

Jealous! I used to go to a lot of games when I lived in Watford, much harder to watch the boys live now I live in Cornwall!

I'd love Isco at the Lane, I'm buzzing for that one more than any of the other rumours to be honest. Still not 100% sure about whether Damiao would cut it in the fast paced world of the EPL, but no denying he's a talented lad

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread

Talking about that pointless debate...

Putting your bias aside (if you can )

would you be happy with Arteta as a replacement for Modric?

I'd take Arteta's set piece ability & goal contribution, but for all round playmaking ability, agility & vision Modric would win hands down for me.

Arteta is a good player though, but not in Modric's league
