Team of le week | Episode Two

Another cracking round of german football saw some fantastic performances from Luis Suarez and Jose Callejon, but who else joins them on The Team of the week.

44696.jpgGoal Keeper | Cabral Rafael - Simply fantastic in goals for Nurnberg. Without him the end result of 1-0 may have been quite a different one against Dortmund.

Rating: 10

43018.jpgDefender | Jeffrey Bruma - Round 2 down and already a contender for young player of the season. Solid in the back last week, the Hamburger centre back took it to the next level against Hoffenheim, taking home man of the match and scoring one of his sides 6 goals to earn a place on the team.

Rating: 10

2370.jpgDefender | Giorgio Chiellini - Also fantastic in the back line alongside Bruma, the two of them combined were as good as the great wall of china sitting in the middle of a buzzing Imtech Arena. On top of this the Italian scored a cracking 80th minute header.

Rating: 9

3515.jpgDefender | Ezequiel Garay - Garay makes the team for the second time in a row in its 2 game history as he put in another stellar performance for Leverkusen. Aside from his goal, the Argentinian didn't put a foot wrong all game.

Rating: 9.5

45408.jpgMidfielder | Lucas Moura - Another freak performance from the Brazilian, who scored after 4 minutes. Bremen defenders couldn't keep track of the Mainz man, as he once again terrorized the opposition.

Rating: 9

2475.jpgMidfielder | Andrea Pirlo - The Italian magician was always going to make it onto the team of the week at some stage in the season, and it's no surprise it's happened as early as round 2. A trade mark performance of sublime passing, topped off with an assist and goal. Picking up a yellow card in the 89th minute won't keep the Frankfurt star out of the team.

Rating: 9.5

46803.jpgMidfielder | Adam Maher - One goal, one assist, and one spot on the team of the week for Adam Maher. The young dutch sensation was vital in Schalke's win, perfecting his role as the number 6.

Rating: 9

30280.jpgMidfielder | Max Kruse - Despite loosing, Kruse was the bright light in Freiburg's 5-2 drubbing. Setting up 2 goals was not enough it seems but his individual performance gets him on the team of the week.

Rating: 9

33985.jpgForward | Jose Callejon - Playing as a number 9, you would expect a man such as Callejon to be here because of his goals. Well that isn't the case for the Grether Furth Spaniard, as he makes the cut for his 3 assists, helping his side to a 5-2 win.

Rating: 9.5

26506.jpgForward | Sebastian Giovinco - The difference between Ausburg and Stuttgart was this man, as his goal and assist was enough to help his side to a 3-2 win.

Rating: 9

6378.jpgForward | Luis Suarez - The final spot on the team goes to none other than the controversial Uruguayan. A goal and 3 assists inspired his side Hamburger to a 6-1 win, and was harshly done by not earn Man of the Match. Obliterated the Hoffenheim defense at times, and it seemed as if there was 2 of him on the pitch.

Re: German Championship 7554 - Discussions,M/Rs & Transfers

Thanks heaps guys for all the comments. It brings me great regret to inform you all however that there will not be another team of the week for a at least 2 weeks now. I have exams coming up over the next two weeks so I simply just won't have the time. Also to those who were looking forward to the top 10 transfer special, I haven't forgotten it, but it's just not going to happen. Instead, at the end of the season I will do the best 10 buys of the season, based on price and performance throughout the season. :)
