Great result, against the leader's & favorites Cambridge. We were 3-0 up after 67mins, but came under the cosh for the remainder of the game. The team capitulated, but we managed to hang-on...just!

Lucky?...yes.

Happy?...certainly :)

Burnley beat Sheffield United 1-0 tonight! A deserved win but we struggled to score. The winner came from the bench! Aleksandar Mitrovic was the hero tonight, scoring the winner at 76', only 1 minute after jumping from the bench to replace Carlos Bacca. It was a sweet moment. B) Our captain Pepe was again MOTM. He's really showing how important he is to our team. Things will get even better when he gets his deserved rise to 93 in some days :P

Up to 9th in Division 3. We're getting closer.

Sunderland

Well done Stuart, back on top... :)

If there's such a thing as a 0-0 hammering I was on the end of it last night to Will's Cardiff (67% possession) and was very lucky to come away with a point.

Enjoying this... :D

Brighton showed their true capabilities last night with a 4-0 win at home to Bournemouth.Montolivo,Rodriguez,Tadic and Ljajic were the scorers for Albion. We should be able to put a run together to get out of the bottom three with the talent in the squad.

Re: English Championship 28697 Discussion Thread

Nice piece of business at Burnley!

Our squad was really short in terms of quality solutions, so when i got a big external offer for Federico Fernandez after he got an amazing +2 to 89, i decided it was time to let him leave, in order to bring in quality solutions to solve our problems.

Federico FERNÁNDEZ has completed his move to SSC Napoli from Burnley for 17,322,400

Then we went on the market and we managed to bring in 3 great new players with the money we got from Fernandez!

Lass DIARRA has completed his move to Burnley from Lokomotiv Moskva for 8,844,000

A 90 rated player, even higher rated than Fernandez, who is normally a DM, but can also play RB, a position that we were extremely weak, our best player was 80 rated Zaldua, and he's on loan :P A big signing for us and a bargain really. We all know Lass Diarra quality, his rating is more than safe.

Paulo OLIVEIRA has completed his move to Burnley from Vitória de Guimarães for 4,888,000 plus Eduardo SASHA and Stoyan KIZHEV . All other offers were turned down.

This young CB is probably the future of Portugal's NT. He just got a move to Sporting CP, so his rating will probably continue to rise. He has a great future ahead of him. We lost a CB in Fernandez, we got a CB in Paulo Oliveira, the gap is filled with quality! We had to beat Milton Keynes Dons to get him.

Nordin AMRABAT has completed his move to Burnley from Galatasaray SK for 3,777,000 plus Aleksandar MANOLOV

We lacked higher rated solutions for the offensive wings and Amrabat gives us exactly what we needed. He can play both wings and his power and technic should be great assets for us. He may even get a rise for his great spell at Malaga, which would obviously be great for us!

I think Burnley improved a lot with these deals, i'm very happy with this. We're now stronger and more prepared to push for promotion! While Paulo Oliveira and Amrabat are still unfit, Lass Diarra will get his debut tonight already! Let's go Burnley!

Re: English Championship 28697 Discussion Thread

Brentford shuffle up formations again and ease past Rochdale 2-0, veteran 39 yold Horvath came on from the bench at HT and put us 1-0 up and then captain fantastic Tremoulinas weighed in with the 2nd in what was his 5th goal in 10 games since signing, not bad for a left back.

A dozen games gone and we sit in 4th just 3 points off the leaders which is pleasing, our squad is not pretty but the sooner we get to July the better as we can do our second wave of transfers and hopefully we can better the squad a bit by then.

Re: English Championship 28697 Discussion Thread

Burnley dominated much of the play against Newport County but could only manage a 1 - 1 draw in their Division 3 fixture.

Mertens was on the scoresheet for his side.

It's always disappointing not to win when you have 65% ball possession, even though it was balanced in terms of shots (we hit the target more though)... Newport always looked to create some danger in countter attack. We should have used the ball better. Anyway, it was only a great performance from Newport's goalkeeper Ujkani that avoided us to score the winning goal. His performance was rewarded with MOTM award. We need to move on and try to get the win next match! We stay 9th. Next we face Rochdale at home.

Re: English Championship 28697 Discussion Thread

Does high squad value mean higher positions?

Here are the squad values of my division and how everyone is faring in league position at this roughly quarterly stage of the season.

It is probably too early to see any patterns but with just under 100 million difference between the values of the highest and lowest squads, there is a trend that the lowest value sides are struggling as the bottom four positions are taken up by four of the five lowest value sides, there are definitely some over and under performing sides, it will be nice to track this as the season goes on, I will post a halfway report to see if any patterns emerge.
