Division 4

Mid-Season Review

The Top 10

70_front_small.png

1st - Wycombe Wanderers

Only halfway through the season, an were probably already looking at the champions. Adriano has done exceptionally well, after narrowly missing out on promotion last season. With a small squad of 23 players, it could turn into a test in the run in. But with his signings so strong, I cant see this being the case. Top job!

Key Player: Leon Britton

Prediction: Champions

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
294_front_small.png
2nd - Chesterfield
Chesterfield also narrowly missed out on promotion last season, after losing in the play-offs. Manager Hossam Ali has regrouped, an brought in some experienced heads to lead his promotion charge. With a small squad of 23, he may well find it tested to the limits towards the end, but will probably be so far ahead it will be too little too late for the chasing pack.
Key Player: Ivica Olić
Prediction: Runner's up
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

58_front_small.png

3rd - Colchester Utd

Manager Matko Marić was unable to save Colchester from relegation from Division 3 last season, an dramatically went down on the last game of the season. They have made an impressive start to the season, but form suggest's that improvements are needed. He will need to find his tradesman's hat, if he wants to remain in contention.

Key Player: Federico Piovaccari

Prediction: 6th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
67_front_small.png
4th - Shorpe Utd
Shorpe also missed out via the play-offs last time. Like Mr Marić, manager Martin Paul will need to try an strengthen his squad to stay near the top. Though he has done really well, considering his current line-up. Will hope his tactical nous will keep them pushing on.
Key Player: Tiago Mendes
Prediction: 8th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

10_front_small.png

5th - Walsall

Relegated last season, but have found a turn of fortune competing at a lower level. Manager david crawford has slowly turned the club around, an the future look's bright for the saddlers fans. With some sound signings completed, they could push all the way for that last auto promotion spot.

Key Player: Mohammed Abu

Prediction: 4th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
220_front_small.png
6th - Fleetwood Town
In his time at the club, manager Lee Reynolds has turned Fleetwood from a mid-table team, into genuine promotion contender's. Although his team's form has dipped, they will surely bounce back. Strong squad, that will push till the very end.
Key Player: Mushaga Bakenga
Prediction: 5th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

7_front_small.png

7th - Barnet

Upon dominating Division 5 last season, an continuingly to strengthen his squad remarkably, manager Richard Sheppard maybe a little disappointed with Barnets first-half of the season. He has done a stellar job turning a Division 5 team, into one of the powerhouses of the 4th Tier. I think all the top sides will have one-eye over their shoulder.

Key Player: Jamie Vardy

Prediction: 3rd

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
12_front_small.png
8th - Tranmere Rovers
Tranmere were very poor last season, an finished bottom of Division 3. In this time they had no fewer than 4 manager's who tried to stop the rot, but were unsuccessful. Like Walsall, they have found life in Division 4 more accommodating. New manager avram Grant has made some big signing's, and has turned the ship around, which is always great to see!
Key Player: Shaun Wright-Phillips
Prediction: 7th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

7_front_small.png

9th - Newport County

The team I tipped to win Division 4 last year, but finished mid-table. Make of that what you will. Manager Keith Merryweather as done well, an made some decent signings to add to his squad. Form has been very poor recently, an he will need to turn things around quickly, otherwise he may find the club with a big gap to close.

Key Player: David Meyler

Prediction: 9th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
220_front_small.png
10th - York City
Rookie manager David Danser has done an amazing job in turning around York. Last season they looked destined for Division 5 until Mr Danser came in saved them from the drop. They got off to a great start this season, but have found themselves wanting against the bigger sides. He as managed to add a little more quality to the squad, which is now starting to pay-off. They do play a rough type of game, but they play the averages and second ball really well. Impressed!
Key Player: Piotr Parzyszek
Prediction: 10th
Thank you very much for the compliment, i hope your prediction comes true of finishing 10th... but my squad is still below average!
I think i agree with everything you are saying and it would be hard for anyone to stop Wycombe for grabbing the title.. Let's see how the rest of the season goes.
Division 5
Mid-Season Review
The Top 10
279_front_small.png
1st - Cambridge United
Only halfway through the season, an were probably already looking at the champions. Manager dan malone maybe off at the end of the season, but his legacy will live on! I expect this team to be knocking on the Division 3 door next season. Top work from a top manager!
Key Player: Aiden McGeady
Prediction: Champions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

268_front_small.png

2nd - Lincoln City

Lincoln have been managed by some good managers in the past, and with manager Yuriy Liverovskyy returning for his second spell, it looks to continue. He has created a strong, if small squad, that could come across problems in the run in. It has already possibly cost him points in the last three games. A couple more in the door, an they should be safe has houses, for that second spot.

Key Player: Matías Vecino

Prediction: Runner's up

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10_front_small.png
3rd - Kidderminster Harriers
Last season, Kiddy were amongst the top runner's and one of the most exciting teams to watch, though they tailed off towards the end dramatically. Manager steve g will be hoping to prevent this from happening again. If he can keep his top players fit, they stand a good chance of making play-offs.
Key Player: Stephen Quinn
Prediction: 3rd
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

10_front_small.png

4th - Alfreton Town

After finishing 17th last season, Alfreton could have been a forgotten team. Though through new manager Clive Moyle they have found a new lease of life. He has rounded out his squad nicely, an has been rather "business" like with his approach. Nice work from a rookie. Alfreton are a team to keep an eye on.

Key Player: Branimir Hrgota

Prediction: 5th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10_front_small.png
5th - Cheltenham Town
Relegated last season, but have found a turn of fortune competing at a lower level. New manager Pippo 09 has kept faith with the squad that he inherited, which has started to gel nicely. A strong squad, that should be around the play-off spots.
Key Player: Elias Kachunga
Prediction: 7th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

46_front_small.png

6th - Ebbsfleet United

New manager Sky Blue Gould has used his money wisely, an made some very good signings. His team are performing well, an can see no reason for this to alter. With his "wheeler-dealer" approach, they will only get stronger an stronger! They will push very hard for that last spot.

Key Player: Craig Noone

Prediction: 6th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
12_front_small.png
7th - Nuneaton Town
Experienced manager Mister Malcolm, has once again put his faith in the experienced "new" crop of players at Liberty Way. Through doing so he has strengthened his side once again. Stormed the last part of season one, an eventually went out in the play-off's. If he can put together anything like the end of last season, they will easily take a play-off spot. EASILY!
Key Player: Louis Schaub
Prediction: 4th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

12_front_small.png

8th - Barrow AFC

Barrow are currently on their NINTH manager! The third one this season alone. They hope new manager, and legend, Sir Bobby Charlton will stick around and install some stability at the club. Sir Bobby has strengthened well, in the little time he has been manager, and has made the team hard to beat. More time at the helm should see his side's fortunes exceed expectations.

Key Player: Szabolcs Székely

Prediction: 9th

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
91_front_small.png
9th - Forest Green Rovers
Well what can I say about FGR? They over-achieved last season, comfortably getting 4th spot, and once again are up near the top. Kudo's has to go to experienced manager aran zedo, who is obviously a skilled tactician. I certainly wouldnt bet against them reaching the play-offs, but as like last season, my instincts tell me they will not be strong enough.
Key Player: Garcia Fofo
Prediction: 11th
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

3_front_small.png

10th - Macclesfield Town

As you may remember, Macclesfield were the whippin' boys early on last season. Everybody wanted to play them, week in, week out! Then manager Johan Alberts stepped in, to ruin everybody's fun! He's taken them from a 1pt from 30pt team, into one of the strongest in the division. Excellent work, an equipped with a first eleven that would push some division 3 sides, they have an outside chance of clinching the last play-off spot.

Key Player: Shefki Kuqi

Prediction: 8th

Notts County beat Rochdale 2 - 1 in their Division 3 fixture.

Brandão scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Edmar was also on the scoresheet for his side.

65' CAVALLARO receives the ball from defence and plays it out to César PEIXOTO.

PEIXOTO cuts outside a defender and hits the shot.

Goal GOAL!! - It zips past the keeper and into the net.

Victory at Goodison Park

Bolton Wanderers registered another win under new management last night against Everton. Bolton won the game 2-1 in which both the strikers Goran Pandev & Fabio Qagliarella were on the score sheet. After this win, Bolton are now at 4th place with 50 points.

Derby Disgrace!

Bolton Wanderers faced the Championship leader Blackpool in the Lancashire derby and faced their first defeat under the new manager Justin. Blackpool won the match 2-1 but the derby was played on its height. Despite taking the lead by the goal of Pandev, Bolton defence was shaken up by Taider & Sidney Sam scored a late winner for the league leaders in the 82nd minute.

Despite this defeat Bolton hasn't lost their position and is still at 4th place with 50 points and Blackpool also has maintained their 3 point lead over 2nd place Bristol City.

Injury forces The Flying Fin to retire early

Macclesfield star forward Shefki Kuqi has announced his retirement after tearing his ankle ligaments in the 6-2 win over Braintree Town which will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Kuqi scores his third goal

He finishes with 20 goals in 34 appearances and 7 assists for the season.

During the interview Kuqi was asked how it felt to bow out with a hat-trick and a man of the match performance in his last game:

"Yeah that's any forwards perfect way to end their career scoring a hat-trick. Unfortunely I've picked up the injury so it wasn't quite the fairytale ending."
