Blackburn Rovers vs Leeds United

Press Conference with Leeds United manager 'Harry Osborne'.

-Osborne enters the room, with new club captain Adam Maher.

Osborne

Good Evening everyone

Sky Sports spokesman - To Harry Osborne

Harry, How's the build up and pre season been up to this game?

We've had a great summer, at times it's been hectic with trying to build a side ready for the opener fixture, but the few games we've played in pre-season have really given us the boost we need.

Daily Mail spokeswoman - To Harry Osborne

The current average age of your squad is just 19, will your side suffer for not having any real experience in it?

it's something that i've been asked a lot, and becoming quite fed up off. I've got a squad full off 22 players now i don't care what they've done or how many clubs they've played for, i've got 22 players that are hungry and want to learn, they give me their attention and desire to improve, then for me that is all i need.

The Sun newspaper Spokesman - To Adam Maher

Adam to be captaining a side with the statue of Leeds United at the age of just 19 must come with a lot of pressure?

Yeah well at a club of this magnitude is going to come with pressure, but at the same time it's a huge honour, that i have been blessed with

Sky Sports Spokesman - To Harry Osborne

Any Ideas on your starting 11, for the game against Blackburn?

Yeah we're ready, the boys know what's required from them, and we're raring to go

Sky Sports Spokesman - To Harry Osborne

Will we see, Mauri Icardi and Baptisao start together tonight?

We shall see
(Osborne Laughs)

SOUTHAMPTON UNVEIL NEW CLUB SPONSOR

Saints revealed the identity of their new club sponsor just hours before the big kick off.

picture.php?pictureid=3375&albumid=482&dl=1372612952&thumb=1

Pay day loan company "We'll Give You Until 5pm or We'll Have Your Kneecaps.com" have reputedly signed a one season deal with the South Coast club.

A spokesman for the company released this statement

picture.php?pictureid=3374&albumid=449&dl=1372611591&thumb=1

Southampton is a club we feel we can do business with.

We know the manager very well and he's agreed to the vig - which runs at 125% per day.

What's really interesting for us in this set up is the acceptance of betting on matches as a wholesome activity.

Any EC 28697 managers who find that they're struggling to meet their bookies' payments just need to pick up the phone to us and we'll send Fat Alfie and Joe The Nose over to discuss terms with them.

Starting with the back five:

M.Perin

These two will have a major role over the course of the season of how well united will do, they will have to be alert and ready today, in preventing Leroy Fer, from dictating play.

The fantastic 3, is what new manager described them as, he will be hoping they can have a major impact today.

Wolves Vs Brentford

Stephen Holland kicks off his reign as Brentford manager with a tough trip to Wolverhampton to face Wolves. Wolves look stronger on paper but Brentford hope they can prove everyone wrong and steal a win. Wolves will be hoping to get Promotion after two straight relagations. The game tonight will take place at the Molineux Stadium and will be played under light in a hot summers day with temperatures expecting to reach 32 degrees. The referee will be Alfredo Intriago from Ecuador.

Expected Squads

Wolves

Sommer

Neto Botia Acerbi

Cuadrado Guilavougui Kolodziejczak

Michel Badelj

Roux Matavz

A full squad to choose from this I believe he will choose it is a quite a good squad and will cause the Brentford defence problems

Brentford

Starke

Espinosa Chyzhov Lomban Shevchuk

Bianco Van Der Strijuk

Tinhan Filkor Ortiz

Ciofani

Starke is top class keeper it will be tough to beat him. There defence is there strong point and that will the most important part of there squad

Key Players

Wolves

Tim Matavz

27449.jpg

The 24 year old striker who joined from PSV in exchange Razak Boukiri went to PSV he will have a tough time against Chyzhov and Lombon but I still believe that he will grab a goal tonight since I believe he has the quailty

Brentford

Tim Starke

4530.jpg

The veteren keeper who joined from Bayern Munich in exchange for Simon Moore and Richard Lee will have his hands full tonight but I believe he can keep the goals out as long as he keeps his cool

Chelsea took on Arsenal at the Emirates tonight.

We started strong, dominating the midfield and showering Ter Stegen's goal with shots. Two of which went in.

GOAL!! - The ball rockets over the keeper and into the back of the net.

MATA takes the ball down beautifully and hits a crisp strike at goal.

FÀBREGAS strokes a high pass out to MATA.

GOAL!! - The ball zips past the dive of TER STEGEN and into the net.

HAMSIK takes the ball down and scuffs a shot towards goal.

FÀBREGAS gets out wide and plays a cross into the area.

mourinho-25-9.jpg

Managed Hazr Poland was loving it

Then disaster struck. Cesc, on his return to the Emirates, became crazed. He jumped into the crowd after hearing a fan call his mother a 'dirty rabid mongrel'. He kicked the fan in the head four times, punched his girlfriend in the ribs and slapped his new born baby in the mouth whilst screaming: 'DEATH TO ARSENAL'. After this, surprise surprise:

Red Card - The referee is showing no sympathy to FÀBREGAS.

This changed the game. From then on, Jkerrs' Arsenal dominated. They scored two goals:

GOAL!! - The net bulges as the ball flies in.

ČECH can only get his finger tips to it.

WILSHERE connects well with the header.

Vieira MARCELO whips a vicious cross into the area.

GOAL!! - The keeper doesn't even get close. What a finish!

MASCHERANO attempts an ambitious shot from range.

MARTÍNEZ gets pushed back down field and rolls a pass into the path of MASCHERANO.

Ended with a 2-2 draw. Decent result given the circumstances.

Brentford destoyed

Wolves had the opening chance with Guilavogui sending Michel through who could only drive straight at Starke. Brentford answered back 3 minutes later with a high ball by Van Der Struijk finding the head of Ciofani who's header was easily saved by Sommer. The first Yellow card of the game was handed to Botia after he strong challenge on Ciofani. Another foul was handed this time to Wolves, the free kick found Cuadrado who could only find the outside of the post. Wolves keeping the pressure up once again had a chance but Matavz hit it the wrong side of the post to keep the game scoreless. Wolves again had a great chance but this time it fell to Cuadrado who could only send it wide. Wolves once again had a good chance but once again they could not find the net this time with Matavz missing the goal. Just before half time Wolves had a free kick Luis Neto sent it in finding the head of Botia who sent it straight into Starke's hands.

Wolves were on the prowl must of the First Half

The Brentford defence was finally beaten with Botia driving it straight past the keeper to make it 1-0. Brentford had there second chance of the match with Bianco trying to strike it into the bottom corner but only finding Sommer's hands. Brentford kept the pressure on with Tinhan having a crack from distance but once again landed straight into Sommer's hands. The Brentford pressure was put to a stop when Roux drove it straight past Starke and into the net and made it 2-0. Brentford's had another promising attack but with Ciofani sending Filkor through but he could only send it over. Guilavogui ended the game by scoring Wolves third and ending Brentford's chances.

Hull City kick off the season with victory.

AC-Milan-v-Barcelona-Kevin-Prince-Boateng-3_2903795.jpg?20130220223230

A new season and a new beginning for Hull City. After promotion last season they began their stay in the Premier League with a completely new starting 11, none of the players who started were a Hull City player last season. Before kick-off a few eyebrows were raised at the decision to start Di Natale on the wing of a 4-3-3 but the decision paid dividends as Hull City came away with the 3 points.

The first 20 minutes flew by without incident. A free-kick from deep delivered by Kevin-Prince Boateng gave Cuenca the chance to score but he smashed it wide after 21 minutes. Hull City then went one better and managed to score, Cornelius somehow managed to get a cross in and 'The Prince' connected with a bullet header to send the fans crazy. Just before half-time they doubled their lead. Cuenca's ball onto the edge of the box allowed Jucilei to bring it down on his chest and power home a shot.

The second half started with even more Hull City dominance, some great work by captain Di Natale allowed CB Isimat Mirin to put his foot through the ball and unleash a powerful strike which was too much for the Palace keeper. After this goal Crystal Palace began to awaken, but it was far too late. Rodrigo was sent over the top and placed his shot under Zieler to give Palace a consolation goal. Palace finished the game the stronger side but were unable to add to their 1 goal. A good win for Hull City as they fight to stay up.

Hull City - Zieler ©; Trasch, Isimat Mirin, Rojo, Arbeloa; Defour, Jucilei, Boateng; Cuenca, Di Natale, Cornelius.

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Disaster for Grimsby in Season Opener

If you had bet on a side scoring 4 goals yet ending up bottom of the GW, Grimsby would have supplied the goods for you after a disastrous yet entertaining first game of the season.

Without their newly promoted captain Kadu and a few other key players, they were forced to start the likes of 67 rated Bradley Wood at the back. And somehow came from having a 2-0 lead to losing 7-4 to one of the hot favourites; Hyde.

"I see a lot of excuses from other managers as to why they didn't win, there were no excuses for us today. Hyde were simply better and our defending was dismal. The only bonus is the four goals scored, however that means next to nothing having conceded 7." - Adriano.

Grimsby's next game comes against Wrexham and Adriano's side must improve if they are to get a result, restore their dignity and generally compete in this Game World.

Division 1 Review.

Turn 1.

Peter_Crouch_2205877b.jpg

Peter Crouch haunts Raz as United slump to a 2-0 loss.

Aston Villa 0-1 Newcastle United

Newcastle got off to a winning start thanks to Hulk's first half winner, the game was a close fought affair with both keepers on top form.

Norwich City 0-1 West Bromwich Albion

James Chettle was able to bag a win in his first game, Koke's winner in the 57th minute the only goal of the game. Surprisingly Norwich were unable to score despite having more shots on target than West Brom and fingers might be pointed at Balotelli and Totti for failing to deliver.

Hull City 3-1 Crystal Palace

Two newly promoted sides faced each other here with Hull City winning by a 2 goal margin. Two goals in the first half from Boateng and Jucilei gave them a 2-0 lead at the break which was then added to by Isimat Mirin early in the 2nd half. Crystal Palace's goal wasn't enough to spark a comeback.

Fulham 0-1 Everton

This game followed the trend of the home side losing by one goal to nil, Pienaar providing the winner in the 33rd minute. New signing Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded MoTM.

Swansea City 1-3 Southampton

Another loss for the home side in this game as Swansea went down 3-1 to Southampton in what could be described as an upset. Two first half goals sent Southampton ahead before Benat pulled one back to before Elm restored Southampton's 2 goal advantage.

Cardiff City 0-1 Spurs

Another 1-0 loss, this time for Cardiff in their first game back in the Premier League. Gareth Bale continued where he left off last season with the winner for Spurs. A deserved victory for Spurs in a game they dominated and could have scored more.

Arsenal 2-2 Chelsea

Two first half goals for Chelsea looked to have given Hazr the dream start but in a moment of madness Cesc Fabregas got himself sent off for the Blues and they were unable to hold off the Arsenal onslaught. Goals from Wilshere and Mascherano salvaging a point for the Gunners.

Manchester United 0-2 Stoke City

Without doubt the biggest shock of the night, Old Trafford was stunned as Stoke City walked away with the 3 points. Peter Crouch sealed the win for Stoke as United manager Raz's confidence fell flat.

Sunderland 1-1 Manchester City

Another upset involving one of the Manchester clubs as City failed to win away at Sunderland; a team who have become a bit of a bogey team for City in recent years. A Sergio Aguero goal gave City a share of the spoils after veteran Luca Toni had given Sunderland the lead.

West Ham United 1-2 Liverpool

Another loss for a home side here. David Alaba gave Liverpool the lead however it was cancelled out just 3 minutes later by Radu. The winner was scored by Mitrovic on 58 minutes to give Liverpool manager Hancock a result he will be delighted with.

Stats.

1 - Hull City were the only home side to win their match. Fortress.

6 - Of the 23 goals scored tonight only 6 were scored by players that were not making their debut. Influx.

4 - 4 of the 10 matches played today finished 1-0 to the away side. Frequent.

Great start for Alfreton here at Moss Rose.

32' - PROTIĆ dinks a high smart inch perfect ball towards the penalty spot.

KIRSS brings the ball down and tries a shot from a narrow angle but Rhys TAYLOR gets down low and deflects the ball away.

What a quality pass by PROTIĆ there to set up KIRSS. Was almost like having the legendary ex United man SCHOLES on the pitch.

36' - Waide FAIRHURST heads the ball back across the box from a free kick, and MORGAN is unmarked as he makes a clever run through the Alfreton defence and hits a shot on the volley.

What a save!!! SHEA gets down low and deflects the ball away.

60' - KIRSS spots the run of FOGDEN and plays him in.

FOGDEN holds off a defender and manages to get a shot away.

GOAL!! GOAL!! GOALLLLLLLLL!!! - What a beauty! It thumps the post and bounces in.

FOGDEN runs to celebrate with Alfreton fans that made the journey. Their manager Veigas is shouting at his players not to get too carried away and stay focused on the game.

65' - PROTIĆ takes the ball forward before whipping a ball into the penalty area, KIRSS gets solid contact with his head to the ball.

The keeper dives to try to make the save. What a save!!! He palms the ball around the post.

Fantastic football being played here by Alfreton Town, they are tearing their opponents apart!

69' - AHODIKPE sees CHALMERS in space and switches play, CHALMERS plays it past a defender and hits a shot at goal.

The keeper throws down a hand and keeps it from crossing the line.

'Stay focused lads, come on!!!' are the words being heared from Alfreton manager.

89' - SIBBALD runs into trouble and manages to play the ball back to Tom BENDER.

BENDER tries his chances from range.

The keeper is struggling to reach this - GOAL!! GOAL!! GOALLLLLLLLL!!!

The few hundred Alfreton fans who traveled here go absolutely crazy as their new club captain secures all 3 points.

We caught up with manager Veigas and club captain Bender after the match.

Bender

I'm really happy with the way we performed today, showed that maybe we are not going to be push-overs this season. We will take each game as it comes and give 110% for the manager, fans and this club. This is going to be a very tough season for us, just glad the campaign is finally started. Really happy with my goal, to score on my debut and help the team secure the 3 points is a great feeling.

Veigas

Impressed, very impressed about how well we started and performed today. I knew the lads had it in them to win this game. As Bender said, we will take it game by game and hopefully do something special this season. They are a great bunch, very talented and determined. It has been a positive day all round really and we done it without 3 big players. On that note the chairman has just told me that before the game that terms have been agreed with J.Lingard and he will be coming down tomorrow to sign his contract.

Up next for Alfreton Town - We welcome Luton Town to the Impact Arena on Tuesday.

SWANSEA 1 SOUTHAMPTON 3

Southampton off to the perfect start

Southampton's mixture of joureymen professionals and the occasional young star opened their account with an impressive 3-1 win at rivals Swansea

The crowd of 20,514 was just 6 short of the ground capacity at The Liberty Stadium - quite a testament to Saints' travelling support and the attractiveness of a tie that pitted together two very even sides.

As the home side took the field to the taunts of "You're getting sheared in the morning" from Wessex's finest it was clear that Southampton had come to South Wales with the intention of picking a fight and getting the three points.

Swansea were simply blown away in the first 35 minutes as the English side took a two goal lead and silenced the crowd of provincial car thieves, street urchins and inbreds.

Adam Lallana threaded a perfect ball to LACAZETTE after 18 mnutes and the young French striker continued his great pre-season form by drilling the ball past Lopez

picture.php?albumid=482&pictureid=3377

Le Dude - Lacazette kick starts Saints' season

Lacazette then turned provider by flicking on a long ball to the marrauding GIOVINCO and the former Juventus man finished with aplomb to see Saints 2-0 up by half time.

BENAT brought Swansea back into the game in the second half to make the score 2-1, but Saints got their reward for nearly 60% possession when, from a set piece move , Lacazette rolled the ball to Rasmus ELM and the midfielder smashed the ball home from 25 yards to seal the win.

A great win for Saints - continuing their impressive pre-season form and showing some positive signs for manager, The Butcher of Montevideo, that the season ahead will be one to enjoy rather than endure.

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Inspired by the well put together review of Division 1, I've decided to give a little review of my own Division 5's first turn. Hope you like, and bare in mind this is all new to me:

Division 5, Turn 1 Review

Clinical Kidderminster and Hyde take early control of the bottom tier after an exciting opening day.

Match reports:

Cambridge United 1 - 0 Southport

Saltos scores early on in a tight affair as keeper Steer keeps out a threatening Southport front line to win man of the match.

Grimsby Town 4 - 7 Hyde

An eleven goal thriller at Blundell Park as Grimsby blunder a two goal lead to freescoring Hyde who go top. Grimsby's new boy Masek won man of the match.

Barrow AFC 1 - 1 Lincoln City

A rare draw sees a dominant Lincoln held by a resilient Barrow. Lincoln's goalscorer Mina wins man of the match.

Tamworth 1 - 2 Aldershot

One of the hot favourites, Aldershot, got off to a good start at The Lamb Ground as Brodic and man of the match Devitt saw off Tamworth in a game of few chances.

Forest Green Rovers 1 - 1 Woking

Rooney scores for Woking! No, not 'that' Rooney but John Rooney showed he has the striker's touch before the home-side replied through Brazilian Vieira.

Kidderminster 5 - 3 Luton Town

Another high scoring affair saw two of the big boys sharing eight goals between them. However, Kidderminster were just too good for the travelers and go second. Spurs loanee Coulibaly won man of the match.

Wrexham 1 - 3 Ebbsfleet

A convincing Ebbsfleet eased past Wrexham as debutant Nietfeld scored twice and keeper Thomas won man of the match.

Gateshead 0 - 1 Hereford United

Hereford piled on the pressure from the start and it eventually paid off when Di Mauro scored the winner on the hour mark and went on to win man of the match.

Nuneaton Town 2 - 0 AFC Telford Town

Nuneaton have been very active in the transfer market during pre-season and now have the benefit of a massive squad to choose from. A convincing display saw them comfortably beat Telford.

Braintree Town 3 - 1 Dartford

It took just 1 minute for Braintree to penetrate Lomb's goal and they went from there to score 2 more against a Dartford side who finished the game with ten men. Braintree's Symons won man of the match.

Chester FC 2 - 1 Barnet

Barnet were many people's favourites to win this division. However, they have taken an early set back after losing to a stylish Chester. Sakor scored the winner late on and a fantastic display from Boateng saw him win man of the match at the Deva Stadium.

Macclesfield Town 0 - 2 Alfreton Town

A young Alfreton side eased past managerless Macclesfield with their captain Bender scoring and winning man of the match.

Adriano's Team of the Week:

1. Alcock (Nuneaton Town)

2. Bezruk (Chester FC)

3. James (Nuneaton Town)

4. Bender (Alfreton Town)

5. Boateng (Chester FC)

6. Aguza (Aldershot Town)

7. Symons (Braintree Town)

Lavezzi celebrates only goal

A spectacular first half free kick from Ezequiel Lavezzi saw QPR seal an extremely unconvincing 1-0 victory over newly promoted AFC Bournemouth. [/b}

Although dominating the possession and producing all the key chances in what was a very weak performance from both teams; QPR's victory hardly showed the quality promised by Argentine manager Maurico Pochettino. Further disappointment came in the form of a first half Red card for key man Fernando Llorente which will now see him miss QPR's next league fixture against Milwall and the den. The Spanish international saw yellow early on in the 10th minute after a late challenge on opposition striker Ben Khallifa in the middle of the park was seen as cynical by the more that strict referee. Llorente then went to be booked a second time in the 34th minute for another dubious foul which in any other game would of gone without caution and spent the rest of the game in the changing room.

Lavezzi's moment of magic was the only bright moment in what was a n extremley dule encounter. More is expected of the QPR side who have promised fans fast free flowing attacking football and promotion this season. With big wages and the threat of huge debts if the side don't complete this aim this season it could spell the end of the big stars at QPR. However Pochettino's side are still yet to concede in his first 5 matches in charge winning all of them except todays display convincingly.

Maurcio:
We didn't play the football i wanted us to play today and i'm disappointed with how we performed. If not for Lavezzi we would be sitting here with only one point and that would not of been acceptable. We must up are game if we are going to get out of this division. However i'll take wins like this , i'd rather we play badly and get 3 points than play well and lose!

Next up for QPR is an away trip to Millwall

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Whilst I'm at it, here's a preview for Division 5's next games...

Division 5, Turn 41 Preview

So we may have just finished Turn 1 but the lower divisions are back in action again tomorrow in what is known as 'Turn 41'.

This could pose a problem for certain teams, as they have little time to correct their mistakes from before but if you've just come off the back of a win it gives you a fantastic opportunity to get some good form rolling in these early days.

Featured Games:

Nuneaton Town vs Hyde

Two of the most convincing teams from turn 1 come head to head in what will surely be a big game with the probability of many goals.

Adriano predicts: Home Win

Barnet vs Ebbsfleet United

Favourites Barnet need to recover fast from their opening day defeat but Ebbsfleet looked of high quality against Wrexham and so will likely pose a huge threat.

Adriano predicts: Draw

Chester FC vs Aldershot Town

Two more strong contenders come head-to-head at this early stage. Expect some class after each side got two players in the team of the week on Saturday.

Adriano predicts: Home Win

Wrexham vs Grimsby Town

Both sides need to recover after opening day defeats, but will they be able to gage their weaknesses from turn 1 in order to fix/improve them?

Kidderminster Harriers vs Barrow AFC

Kidderminster scored for fun on Saturday. However, they also looked weak at the back. Barrow may look to take advantage of this and go one better from their draw in Turn 1. Once again, expect goals.

Adriano predicts: Away Win

Other Games:

AFC Telford United vs Cambridge United

Adriano predicts: Away Win

Dartford vs Hereford United

Adriano predicts: Away Win

Alfreton Town vs Luton Town

Adriano predicts: Draw

Macclesfield Town vs Woking

Adriano predicts: Away Win

Braintree Town vs Lincoln City

Adriano predicts: Home Win

Gateshead vs Southport

Adriano predicts: Draw

Forest Green Rovers vs Tamworth

Adriano predicts: Home Win

Good luck to everyone. A full division report will be posted Tuesday evening.

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE

Southampton drafted in former Anderlecht and Kiev centre forward Dieumerci Mbokani as cover for first choice strikers Lacazette and Giovinco. The move was agreed this evening and is expected to go through tomorrow

The Congolese gargoyle was signed just in time as Sebastian Giovinco picked up a slight knock against Swansea in the season opener.

Mbokani -possibly a great striker, definitely a sea monster

Saints manager, The Butcher, was pleased with the signing

He may have a face like a bulldog sucking a wasp - but he's an accomplished striker.

We really don't have the funds to compete for top strikers with the bigger clubs - so we have to look for value.

We paid just £740k plus players for Mbokani- which proves that you can a proven goalscorer for peanuts - even if he does look like one of those blue-arsed baboons.

We've also agreed a salary of £28k a week - so maybe he can have some work done on his face - which looks like it's been hit repeatedly with a shovel

You don't expect to get a movie star for that sort of money - but this guy is a real swamp donkey and that beard makes him look like a talking armpit.

Great start for Kehl

.El Nino was unable to prevent a Sheffield Wednesday defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Sheffield Wednesday slumped to a 2 - 0 defeat to Charlton Athletic in their Division 2 fixture

El Nino:

"It was though game for us. Mondugno(Charlton Manager)

had build a great squad. However,It is not a disaster for us as we also

had a great chances and and for me it is a good start. Our defenses

was little bit shaky at the match with allowed them to score 2 goals in 2 minutes. We have to work more now"

Alfreton Town land Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard's much awaited move to Alfreton was finally completed this morning after the talented midfielder traveled to meet his new manager and the clubs chairman in a near by hotel.

Alfreton Town agreed to pay £270k, again breaking that record fee they paid for Will Keane last week. Lingard is believed to have agreed a two year deal with a option to extend it to 4 years at the end of the season.

Alfreton manager then drove Lingard to the Impact Arena to meet some fans and the press.

Position: Midfield - Attacking Midfield

Lingard spent some time last season on loan to Leicester City in the Championship.

Last Season Stats:

Championship - 5 games

U21 Premier League - 6 games / 2 goals

U21 Premier League Elite Gruppe - 14 games / 2 goals

Lingard had this to say

I'm over the moon to have finally signed with Alfreton Town as its been a very long process since first contact was made. Met the manager last week and he showed me around and we talked about his plans for the team and myself. I was happy with what he had to say and I'm really looking forward to this new challenge now. Gutted I missed yesterday's first game, for what I saw we played some brilliant football. Can't wait to put on that shirt and show what I can do.

Koke celebrates with the crowd at Carrow road

West Bromwich Albion earned their first league win of the season thanks to Jorge Koke's strike.

James Chettle had this to say "It was a difficult game - everyone saw we had to hold on. But it was very important to win away at this tough stadium.

"We knew Norwich played with a high line so that is why we needed players with speed who could run behind the line.

"[For] the last 10 minutes I was praying they didn't get an equaliser."

Today we can reveal that Newcastle have gone out and bought experienced goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon from Juventus with Krul going in the other direction.

gianluigi-buffon-juventus.jpg

When we popped by the Tyneside training ground today we managed to bump into head coach 'sunnyskeg' who had this to say

Well obviously we are very delighted to have such a goalkeeper playing for us, he is still world class and his age doesnt worry us one bit. Krul has left and we wish him well. He didnt have such a good season last season therefore we dont expect him to reach the great heights people had talked about so we brought Buffon in, unchallenged. He will go straight into the team for our next game
