Alaba Stars in Liverpool Win!

david-alaba.jpg

A goal and an assist, couldn't have hoped for a better debut

Liverpool won their season opener last night against The Hammers at Upton Park. This match was Liverpool manager Hancock's first competitive match with his new team and Liverpool fans all around the world were eager to see how their team which has undergone many changes since Hancock's arrival performed.

Hancock went with a strange team selection for his first competitive match as manager of Liverpool as he opted to go for a 3-5-2 formation. Subotic was surprisingly left on the bench and Godin replaced him in the Starting XI and it was even more surprising to see Lucas Moura also being benched for the match. Hancock opted to use Alaba as a LM instead of his preferred LB position as well.

The biggest surprise regarding the team however was without a doubt the inclusion of 18 year old forward - Aleksandar Mitrovic. A bold team-selection for his first match in charge.

FullMatchstatistics-28697_zps500eead1.png

Liverpool were dominant from the first whistle and they controlled the match as they had the lion's share of the possession and had more chances than West Ham as well. The first goal of the match came near the end of the first half from the boot of 21 year old David Alaba who fired the ball home after receiving the ball from Busquets. It wasn't long however before West Ham equalized as Stefan Radu scored 3 minutes later to make it 1-1.

The match was decided in the 58th minute when Alaba was yet again involved as he swung in a cross which found Mitrovic in space who controlled it and struck a superb volley to give Liverpool the lead. The surprise inclusion had paid off. Alaba was named the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance as he was involved in both of his side's goals - 1 assist and 1 goal.

Aleksandar-Mitrovic-e1368468680618.jpg

Making his debut at just 18 and scoring as well - one for the future

Liverpool are one of 8 teams to have won their season-opener last and are currently 4th in the table. The Reds face Aston Villa next on Thursday. The Villains started their season with a loss as they were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle. Hancock will be hoping that after Thursday's match, Villa will still be in search of their first win of the season.

Npower_Championship_logo.png

212.pngBrighton 1 - 3 Derby295.png

Brighton disappoint on opening day of the season

Last night the Npower Championship officially began and there were many disappointed Brighton fans left in the wake of Derby County's victory over Brighton. 3-1 was the final scoreline but that does not tell the whole story. In what was in truth a very even game, poor finishing saw Brighton lose.

Gerard Deulofeu gave Derby the lead on the 18 minute mark with an effort which caught Brighton keeper' Weidenfeller off guard:

DEULOFEU peels off his marker and HUGHES rolls the ball back from the by-line.

DEULOFEU scuffs his shot towards goal.

GOAL!! - The keeper is off caught off-balance and the ball rolls in.

Just minutes later Dost equalised for Brighton with an audacious flick:

LJAJIC curls a low ball towards the back post from the corner of the penalty area.

DOST tries his luck with a cheeky flick at goal.

The keeper throws a hand towards the ball.

GOAL!! - He can't get there in time and it creeps in.

But Derby went into half-time ahead with a goal from Alvarez in the 39th minute:

CALLEJÓN controls the ball and flicks a pass to ÁLVAREZ.

ÁLVAREZ smashes it.

GOAL!! - The ball whistles past the keeper and into the back of the net.

Brighton needed to score next to have any chance of victory but just 3 minutes into the second half Laporte sealed the deal for Derby:

CALLEJÓN can't see an easy pass and lays it off to LAPORTE.

LAPORTE puts his foot through the ball and it flies towards the top corner.

GOAL!! - The ball flies in past the helpless keeper.

Derby were happy to sit back with their two goal lead and Brighton were unable to penetrate their defence. Abate came close in the 59th minute but Guita made a great save:

LJAJIC switches play to Ignazio ABATE.

ABATE controls the ball and unleashes a rocket towards the far corner.

GUAITA gets across his goal well and saves the shot.

In the dying minutes of the game Guita pulled of yet another fantastic save after a rasping shot from Saltor Bruno:

SØRENSEN wins the ball. He takes it forward and plays it out to Saltor BRUNO.

BRUNO glides past two defenders and cuts inside.

He aims a shot at the top corner.

GUAITA somehow manages to keep it out.

In the end Derby came out the victors and Brighton will be disappointed that they didnt make their chances count. Derbys front three in Deulofeu,Callejon and Alvarez look very dangerous and clinical so expect plenty of goals from Derby this season. Brighton showed glimpses of what they can do but they weren't up to standard. It may take them several games to kickstart their campaign.

24 teams.4 promoted.2 relegated. So much up for grabs and quality football.

Newport County 1 - 4 Wycombe Wanderers

Was always going to be a stuggle for Newport when they took on one of the top dogs of the division.Wycombe went 1-0 up and then Newport equalized, but it wasn't meant to be as Wycombe went on to score 3 more goals and steal the victory

Bury 2 -1 Exeter City

A young Exeter side took on a strong Bury side. Exeter took the lead and fans were ecstatic at there lead, but as pressure grew and grew on Exeter from the Home side,Bury finally scored on 42th minutes to level things.Exeter were ready to take a point but it wasn't meant to be as Nick Powell scored on the 85th minute to steal the 3 points.

Portsmouth 2 - 0 Cheltenham Town

Portsmouth are one of the strongest in this division and should challenge top spot.So when they welcomed Cheltenham they needed to switch on and that's exactly what they did from the off.Luis Alberto started the scoring on the 20th minute then scored on 66th.Tough start for Cheltenham but they maybe should have had retain possession alot more better than 31%.

Fleetwood Town 2- 0 Torquay United

Barnaby would have wanted a win to kick start their season and he got that from his boys and judging by the stats maybe they should have had a bit more. But Torquay had a few attempts at goal which Sergey CHEPCHUGOV saved.Clifford broke the deadlock at 24 minute then 12 minutes later scored again. After that the game slowed down a bit.

Oxford United 2 - 1 Rochdale

Two good teams went against each other.Maybe Rochdale should have won based on Quality and stats but goals win you games and Oxford netted two times with only 3 shots on target. Rochdale GK may feel a bit disappointed with the outcome.

Dagenham & Redbridge 0 -2 Plymouth Argyle

Two sides even on quality but a huge difference on the stats and Plymouth deserved their win.How they didn't win by more i don't know but Dag and Red have to thank their man of the match GK who kept the scoreline as low as possible.Plymouth scored on the 12th and 35th,but should of been like 7-0

Accrington Stanley 2 - 1 Southend United

A game with few chances but on the 13th minute Southend scored on the 13th min after constantly defending they made the counter attack work well.

But Accrington scored 9 minutes later and then on the 32nd minute they took the lead and after that they couldn't make their chances count but they took the 3 points.

Hartlepool United 4 - 3 Mansfield Town

An even game all round with goals flying in left right centre in a 7 goal thriller.Mansfield being one of the worst teams in the league they gave a very good battle but their hard work was not awarded with a point. Hartlepool took their chances and held strong at the back in the last 10 minutes.

York City 1 - 3 Northampton Town

York City were the underdogs and would have loved a point vs a Strong Northampton side. But on the 31st minute went 1-0.Could York come back ?

Later they suffered another goal in 63rd minute-Looking bleak for York.York did however score on the 66th and it was game on! But just 2 minutes later Northampton ruined their cheer to make 3-1.

AFC Wimbledon 6 - 1 Morecambe

Another 7 goal thriller as poor Morecambe let in every shot on target by Wimbledon. But Geoffrey wont care one bit as his team dominated possession throughout the game.Geoffrey played his back up GK and he made some crucial saves. Morecambe however did score but was only a consolation goal. But Wimbledon was not finish as they score 3 minutes later.

Burton Albion 2 - 1 Bristol Rovers

Both teams were equal in quality and could have gone both ways but it was Burton who were victorious with only 3 shots on target.Bristol Rovers will be disappointed as they dominated the stats but like i always say goals win you games.

Shorpe United 3- 3 Chesterfield

Chesterfield took the lead twice! and managed to throw it away.Shorpe did go 3-2 up but Chesterfield were not to be beaten so easily as they equalized 6 minutes later in a very entertaining game

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Grimsby Take to the Transfer Market to Fix Problems

Some may have had a few laughs at Grimsby's expense after the opening day disaster, in which manager Adriano fielded a controversial 3-3-4 formation. However, he has since responded and signed key players to fill the gaps left in the team; of which was lacking in defenders and general depth.

New club captain Kadu's former Porto teammate, Ricardo Tavares, has signed for 350k. He is a versatile defender who holds a lot of promise in the manager's eyes.

The club have also managed to bag three loanees to their ranks, generously provided by Aston Villa and Leicester. The most notable of which is former Manchester United youngster Guillermo Varela. They have also signed midfielders Rubin Holsaeter and Alex Henshall on loan for the season.

"After trying and failing repeatedly in trying to bring in loan players, its fantastic to have these boys on board. I realise that Villa and Leicester are not the biggest sides in the GW and so thank them for their generosity in allowing these players to temporarily leave. I hope they do well for us and the parent clubs benefit from their extra playing time and halved wages. As for Ricardo, he's a young man with a lot of potential and hopefuly singing him has brought me a step closer to finalising my teamsheet." - Adriano

Fitness permitting, these and other players may make their debuts against Wrexham on Tuesday. However, Adriano has refused to reveal his cards and has not ruled out sticking to the 3-3-4 formation. Bluff, double bluff or no bluff at all? We'll find out tomorrow evening.

Latics off to a flyer!

Franco-Di-Santo-celebrate-005.jpg

(Wigan's Di Santo celebrates his 2nd of the game, wait, what's Moses doing there!?!?)

Wigan Athletic 3 - 2 Reading

Roman Carlos's Wigan Athletic started their Division 2 campaign with a home win against fellow relegated side Reading.

The result may have come as a surprise to many, considering the manager chose to field his reserves, whilst what is thought to be his first team was rested ahead of Tuesday's clash against AFC Bournemouth, again at the DW.

Franco Di Santo opened the scoring after just 6 minutes, however this was overshadowed when debutant Manuel Torres received a straight red card for a two footed challenge on Reading's Fofana.

The 10 men of Wigan then doubled their lead on 55 minutes courtesy of Callum McManaman, before Fofana made the score 2-1 by excellently dispatching a penalty on 78 minutes.

It was Franco Di Santo again who managed to cheekily nutmeg Cavalieri on 80 minutes to put the hosts 3-1 up with 10 minutes remaining.

Despite Fofana grabbing his second of the game on 87 minutes, Wigan managed to hold on to the win and give the newly appointed manager a dream start under his reign.

Man of the Match - Franco Di Santo

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Crystal Palace FC

NewCrystalPalaceBadge.jpg

Every Palace player has either been sold or swapped in a P/E deal bringing in some quality players. Below are all transfers made and why they were signed:

Transfers:

SAMBA, Brice GK Marseille 19 75 - Samba was bought in as a keeper for the future. Bought him on the cheap (290k) and fended of competition from another club.

BETO, Pimparel GK Sevilla 31 87 - Beto was signed from Sevilla as we needed a 1st choice keeper and someone to take the no.1 jersey of Speroni. Beto was a nice and cheap option for us so we snapped him up.

JOEL, Robles GK Atlético Madrid 23 85 - Joel will be our 2nd choice keeper, however we believe he has the potential to out do Beto and become 1st choice within a year or so.

ELMANDER, Johan AM,F© Galatasaray SK 32 88 - Elmander was again a cheap but safe option for us as we looked to bolster our attacking options and his age could help the youngsters at the club.

ALEX, Fernández DM,M© Real Madrid 20 84 - One of Real Madrid's hottest prospects joins us also.

ILLARRAMENDI, Asier DM,M© Real Sociedad 23 89 - My favorite signing, Illarramendi has impressed incredibly for Sociedad this season and we beat competition from many clubs for his signature. Pleased to have him!

GARGANO, Wálter DM,M© SSC Napoli 28 89 - Another experienced midfielder in Gargano, bought from Napoli. At 89 we feel he is safe at that rating and could prove to be a vital part in staying up this season, teaming up with Illarramendi.

ELISEU, Pereira D,DM,M(L),AM(RL) Málaga CF 29 88 - Another player bought from Spain was Eliseu who is very versatile. Can play LB, LM, DM and on both sides of the wings.

DEL MORAL, Manu AM,F(LC) Sevilla 29 89 - Yet another player from Spain. This time from Sevilla, we feel Del Moral will rack up the assists for the front two this season.

POPA, Razvan M© Sportul Studenţesc 16 73 - At a tender age of 16, Popa has attracted interest from Europe's top clubs such as Manchester United and Inter Milan. He eventually is to sign for Inter soon and is a gamble but could prove to be worth it.

COSTA, Diego AM,F© Atlético Madrid 24 88 - Brazilian, Diego Costa had a decent season at Atletico Madrid and so we snapped him up to play a number 9 role for Palace this season. Hopefully he can score the goals we need to stay up.

DE SILVESTRI, Lorenzo D(RL),DM,M® ACF Fiorentina 25 88 - De Silvestri was a good option for us to bolster our defence. Cheap, at a nice rating of 88 and quite versatile.

JESUS, Juan D(LC) Internazionale 22 86 - Talented Brazilian had joined us from Inter Milan and we faced stiff competition for him. However, we're glad he chose the right club.

RODRIGO, Moreno AM©,F(RLC) SL Benfica 22 88 - M.Rodrigo was signed to partner Diego Costa up front and we feel both will share a deadly partnership.

LOPES, Marcos M(L),AM(LC) Manchester City 17 75 - Youngster Lopes has been bought from Man City. Decent future ahead of him but time will tell.

WHITEHEAD, Danny AM,F© Free Agent 19 70 - Whitehead was bought from Stockport County by West Ham and so we took a gamble on him. Hopefully he can get a few games to notch up that 70 rating.

MANÉ, Carlos F(RLC) Sporting CP 19 77 - Mane is a talented portugese striker from Sporting. Has a great future ahead of him.

DEMICHELIS, Martin D,DM© Málaga CF 32 89 - Demichelis joins us from Malaga with his team mate Eliseu. We feel he will command the centre back area and prove to be an important part of the starting XI as well as guiding the youngsters the right direction.

PEPE, Simone AM,F(RL) Juventus 29 89 - Pepe will help bring in the assists hopefully for our strikers as well as chipping in himself a few goals.

CAMPAÑA, José M© Sevilla 20 85 - Talented Spanish midfielder Campana has been bought in as one of our hottest young prospects. We have great hopes for this young lad and are sure he will fulfill his potential.

BENEDETTI, Simone D(RC) 21 83 Internazionale - Italian youngster Benedetti has signed from Inter Milan. His potential can hopefully be fullfilled to the maximum.

KABASELE, Nathan F(RC) 19 77 RSC Anderlecht - Belgian hotshot Nathan Kabasele has interested a host of top clubs for his signature. Again we feel his potential can be reached and hope he becomes a top striker soon.

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Sunderland AFC

Final Transfer Bulletin

Sunderland are pleased to announce that all transfer activity is now complete following the capture of Federico Fernandez 24/87 D© from Napoli and the imminent arrival of Gojko Kacar 26/88 D,DM,M© from Hamburg.

Only the goalkeepers remain from the original playing staff as the manager seeks to stamp his own brand on the pitch.

The chairman's valuation of some of the existing players made certain transfer dealings 'tricky' but a much welcome injection of funds from the club's opening European fixture facilitated the late moves.

The club enters the first season with a senior squad of 23 with an average age/rating of 24/88. It is hoped that squad depth over the course of the long season ahead will somewhat balance the obvious lack of individual star talent.

The opening league fixture (1-1 v Man City) gave a degree of

encouragement that an unspectacular, yet solid, group of players can live with the big boys if tactically prepared.

The academy also welcomes 11 new faces averaging 19 years and a 70 rating. The manager felt that if a quick exit from the cups or Europe was necessary to preserve the senior squad then these prospects could be wheeled in as an emergency measure.

Finally, the club is slightly unsure as yet as to its financial position so will be monitoring its cash flow carefully as the pattern emerges across all competitions.

Haway the lads !!!

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Division 5, Turn 41 Review

Hyde remain top, Chester continue 100% run, Gateshead go bottom.

It was a successful outing for most of the sides who struggled on the opening day with now 23/24 of the clubs having points on the table, the only exclusion being Gateshead. Their manager Duncan Gibbons earlier pointed out the difficulty of bringing in cheap youngsters who are likely to rise in the future and its understandable as all of the clubs in the division know how hard it is to run on a tight budget. Perhaps a few risky transfers might help in time? Or maybe putting faith in older players or settling with a thin squad of more expensive youngsters are solutions to consider?

On the other side of the table; Hyde and Chester are the sides to beat right now. We may only be two games into the season but both of these sides can proudly boast 100% records, despite having played a tricky pair of games between them.

Match Reports:

AFC Telford United 2 – 1 Cambridge United

Late drama at the New Bucks Head as the home fans got the pleasure of seeing James Spray put one past on loan keeper Jed Steer in the 87th minute. Certainly deserving of the man of the match award he received and Telford are off the mark for the season. Cambridge will be gutted not to follow on their last win with another good result and to do so in the closing minutes.

Dartford 0 – 0 Hereford

Well, they can't all be exciting goal-feasts. Dartford's new manager, Nestor Carlos, begins his reign with a modest draw against a previously convincing Hereford United – who remain unbeaten. Argentinian keeper Rulli was elected man of the match after keeping out 7 shots on target from Dartford who deservedly get their first point of the season.

Barnet 1 – 1 Ebbsfleet United

Okay, I'm fed up of saying it now but Barnet are many people's favourites and now they have a point to accompany that title. They had to come from behind to deny Ebbsfleet successive victories but earned the final result after pressing throughout. Ebbsfleet still look strong, especially after holding the 'big boys' and you'd be a fool to rule Barnet out already. Expect these two to finish highly.

Alfreton Town 1 – 2 Luton Town

An Alfreton win was a popular bet this evening and there'll be a lot of unpopular bookies tomorrow morning as Luton bagged the result they desired – a win and their first of the campaign. It pushes the hosts down the league standings and the visitors up in to mid-table. Nicholson and McNulty with the goals for the Hatters as opposing forward Keane wins man of the match.

Macclesfield Town 3 – 3 Woking

The high scoring game of the turn saw Macclesfield; who are still without a manager, come from behind twice in a six goal thriller at Moss Rose. With six different goalscorers; the man of the match was always going to be tricky to decide but in the end it went to Woking's Stockley. Woking now on 2 points, Macclesfield on 1.

Chester FC 3 – 1 Aldershot Town

Two of the best looking teams came up against eachother here, with 100% records at stake. Who kept hold of theirs? Cody Rhodes' side. And in continually impressive fasion too, with 60% possesion. Afghanistani Shayesteh scored one of the goals and stole man of the match, perhaps fast becoming a legend back home? Chester go 2nd, while the Shots slip and slide down to 13th. Unlucky.

Braintree Town 1 – 1 Lincoln City

Two down to earth sides with experienced managers found themselves in a deadlock in front of 841 fans at Cressing Road. A late equaliser from Olivera denying the home side back-to-back victories. Both remain unbeaten, however.

Nuneaton Town 1 – 3 Hyde

Both looked good on day one, I predicted a Nuneaton win and I was wrongo! With match ratings of at least 8 across the board, Hyde dominated on possession yet again and have now scored 10 goals in only 2 games! These guys mean business and remain top of the league.

Gateshead 0 – 1 Southport

Both sides started the day on 0 points and I'm afraid it remains that way for Gateshead. Depsite a phenomenal performance from eventual man of the match Jose Sa; one goal getting past the Portuguese keeper was enough to seal an important win for the visitors who go 11th. Gateshead are now bottom but chins up boys – there are still 44 games to go!

Wrexham 1 – 1 Grimsby Town

This was a controversial meet between two of the strugglers of day one. Wrexham finished the game with ten men, Grimsby had a goal ruled out for offside and Lorenz scored a late equaliser for the hosts to deny the league's bottom club the win. Masek scored and won man of the match for the second week running as Grimsby lift off... to 23rd.

Kidderminster Harriers 1 – 2 Barrow AFC

Kiddy scored 5 in turn 1, but this time they were bettered for goals – albeit late on thanks to two Finkler goals; the second of which coming in the 87th minute. The result aside, this was a close game but its Barrow who take Kiddy's early play-off place away from them.

Forest Green Rovers 0 – 0 Tamworth

It was a goalless draw sadly down at the New Lawn. Tamworth dominated the game for the most part, both in shots and possession, but man of the match Van Velzen was the highlight of the game – not least for his awesome sounding name. This was Tamworth's first point of the season though and FGR's second – who are still, technically, unbeaten!

It's fantastic to see the points going all over the place at the moment and as I much suspected this is shaping up to be a close Division.

Number of Adriano Predictions correct: 3/11 - Not sure if Division is tough to call, or I'm just terrible at predicting...

Adriano's Team of the Turn:

1. Rulli (Hereford United)

2. Ashworth (Hyde)

3. Townsend (Aldershot Town)

4. McNulty (Luton Town)

5. McKenna (Hyde)

6. Shayesteh (Chester FC)

7. Poole (Hyde)

8. Cassidy (Hyde)

9. Spray (AFC Telford)

10. Zavaleta (Chester FC)

11. Aristeguieta (Kidderminster Harriers)

Number of players in 'Team of the Turn' Table:

1. Chester FC (4 players)

2. Hyde (4 players)

3. Aldershot Town (3 players)

4. Nuneaton Town (2 players)

5. Kidderminster Harriers (2 players)

6. Hereford United (2 players)

7. Alfreton Town (1 player)

8. Braintree Town (1 player)

9. Cambridge United (1 player)

10. AFC Telford (1 player)

11. Luton Town (1 player)

Another exciting turn, this gameworld just gets greater and greater. Everyone is back in action again on Thursday so get ready for fatigued players and more tight affairs!

0,,10794~9046761,00.gif

5 teams with 100% records. Two 7 goal thrillers and 5 teams without a single point.

Northampton Town 1 - 3 Newport County

Cedd suffered defeat vs one of the weakest sides in the division. But nonetheless Newport manager is very good and deserves some credit for an fine win.

Morecambe 0- 7 Mansfield Town

Mansfield find themselves in another 7 goal thriller but this time on the winning side. But for Morecambe their future in league 2 takes another mysterious turn.

Bristol Rovers 4 - 1 Southend United

Two teams who lost their opening game and were willing to get off to a winning start but it was Bristol Rover who were victorious and Southend still look for their first win.

Chesterfield 2 -0 Plymouth Argyle

Chesterfield get a well deserved win vs Plymouth and both teams will look towards the next match with a bit of motivation.Still early days ahead of them though.

Shorpe United 0- 0 Rochdale

A well dominated Rochdale held on vs a very strong Shorpe.Shorpe just didn't make their chances count and payed for that when the full time whistle went.

Burton Albion 3-3 Torquay United

A very good game in term of goals but the stats dont reflect the scoreline in my opinion.Burton should have won this game by a mile but if you dont make your chances count then how are you going to score ?

AFC Wimbledon 3 - 1 Cheltenham Town

Wimbledon got the 3 points as they kept possession well and didn't allow the other team to capitalize and made them shoot from long distances. Cheltenham have lost both of their games.

York City 4 - 2 Exeter City

A very lucky game for York ? They scored all 4 shots on target and really shouldn't have won but they took their chances while Exeter City young side didn't and a 5 week to Victor ANDRADE isn't going to help matters.

Hartlepool United 3-1 Wycombe Wanderers

All 4 goals were scored under 18 minutes and the stadium was buzzing till the end of the game where it was action packed throughout.Hartlepool maintain their 100% record and Wycombe have won 1 and lost 1.

Accrington Stanley 2-0 Bury

Accrington kept the ball for longer periods of time and attacked when necessary and it paid off but Bury push and push and push for a goal but was never awarded despite 12 shots on target.

Dagenham & Redbridge 0-2 Portsmouth

Portsmouth a team to beat this season and a serious title challenger.Yet again they dominate but only walk away with a little win.Dag and Redbridge really need to strengthen up at the back as their keeper got man of the match again and it looks like this GK will be in demand in the next few weeks

Oxford United 1- 6 Fleetwood Town

Clifford Hat trick helped Fleetwood secure a 6-1 win and will be a tough side to break down this season.Stats say that Oxford should have had a another goal but their Gk had a howler.

Grimsby Sign Big

Grimsby have made what will surely be their biggest signing this season in the form of 18 year old Joel Mero of Borussia Monchengladbach, with Simon Ford going the other way.

Although he may not seem so big to others, he is likely to become one of the Division 5 strugglers' key players; certainly on paper, anyway.

Other signings are:

New Reserve keeper Rosenorn and Milos Pitulic.

Much like the rest of the league, Adriano has turned to youth to try and claw back in to the football league.

Sheffield Wednesday 3 Brighton 2

-Semedo(9) - Agdestein(18)

-Nazmi Faiz(64,79) - Dicker(73)

Nazmi+Faiz+Sporting+Lisbon.jpg

Malaysian Wonderkid,Nazmi Faiz Strike Twice As Sheffield Wednesday

Earns First Win

The hosts took the lead with just nine minutes gone as Portugese,J,Semedo acrobatically volleyed home from Antonio’s cross.

Brighton quickly launch their attack to get goal and it works as Verrati through balls find Agdestein who put it past S.Romero.

First half ended with 1-1 scoreline.

The game begin with many attacking from Sheffield as they almost got 2nd goal from Abel Hernandez but his header just over the bar.

At 64 minutes,Malaysian wonderkid,Nazmi Faiz been given the opportunities

to take the free kick and he curls the shot towards the top corner.

What a great goal for the Malaysian.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Brighton reduced the deficit after 73 minutes when Agdestien pulled the ball back for Dicker to convert.

But their joy was short-lived as within six minutes Nazmi Faiz again restored Wednesday’s advantage with a scrappy close-range finish for his second goal of the match.

El Nino:

"It was thrilling match for me.I really need this win and we got it. Great day for the fans and great performance from Nazmi and he deserved that 2 goals.

He will be our most succesful signing in year to come. MALAYSIA BOLEH!"

Millwall V QPR

Match Report

1692068_w2.jpg

Eremenko's performance earned him MOTM award

Two red cards saw Queens Park Rangers finish their second league match of the season with only 9 men. The 3-2 victory of London rivals Millwall left the R's with 6 points from the opening two matches of the season and a real sense of whats to come from the impressive QPR side.

Eremenko was the star in solid attacking performance. Starting for the first time in the R's line up Eremenko was central to all of the attacking moves right from the outset with his two goals only emphasizing how dominant his performance was. Youngster Kelvin who also made his debut in the match impressed and could continue to feature in the side over the next few matches. However the two red cards to Boilesen and Gaitain are a real concern to the management at Loftus road. With 3 red cards in the opening two games questions over discipline in the side have been mooted by fans and many pundits are speculating as to whether the aggressive nature of QPR's defense is to blame.

Pochettino:
We were dominant today going forward and not for the two red cards i feel we would of won the match to 0. Dont get me wrong Millwall are a great side and one to watch out for but we were simply to good for them and if not Gaitain's red card early on and Boilesen's red early in the second half i feel we would of dominated them. Discipline is something i dont think we need to work on, i've told the boys to tackle hard and press all over the pitch and that is what i expect them to do. Yes the red cards are unneeded but i feel its more due to strict unnecessary refereeing rather than my players playing unfairly. It's like you can't even put a good tackle in anymore , i would of hated to play under these conditions.

Southampton complete early season transfer activity with key signing

Saints wrapped up their transfer activity for the immediate future by adding Russian captain Igor Denisov to the team for a reported fee of £3m and players.

picture.php?pictureid=3387&albumid=482&dl=1372870743&thumb=1

Saint Igor

It's an expensive signing for the club - but Manager, The Butcher of Montevideo, defended the outlay - saying

We have a relatively small first team squad to choose from - but I didn't want to buy players just to fill gaps. Denisov is a class act - he's been Russian captain and I've worked with him at Leeds in EC 7777.

With Denisov holding the midfield line we can now push other players - such as Rasmus Elm - in to a more advanced position.

The paperwork is still going through - so we not start him against Cardiff tomorrow - but he might make a guest appearance at some point in the match

Neymar Pops the Cherries!

(yep, sounds a bit wrong that)

neymar-performs-usain-bolts-lightning-celebration-1-926-1365075769-0_big.jpg

Whether you're Neymar, Nilmar or erm Naismith, at a cost of £17mil plus players, you were always going to have a weight of expectation on your shoulders going into your debut in front of your home fans.

In a starting line up that had 10 changes from the opening day win against Reading, Neymar was one of 7 new signings making their debut for the club.

It took Neymar only 7 minutes to make an impression as he made a beautiful run to latch onto a Kuzmanovic pass only to then be denied by Coosemans, as he tried to cheekily slot the ball under the keeper.

In Scottish international Shaun Maloney, It was a familiar face for Wigan fans who opened the scoring on 31 minutes, after he was picked out by Neymar.

The Cherries battled back against the home side and often proved hard to handle, however they were unable to make any of their chances count as club captain Ali Al Habsi was in sensational form in the Wigan goal.

Shortly after half time, on 48 minutes, Kuzmanovic was fouled by Elphick just to the right of the 18 yard box. It was Neymar who demanded the ball and quite rightly so, as he curled the ball into the top corner sending the home fans wild.

The game ended 2-0 to Wigan and deservedly so the man of the match went to Shaun Maloney, however both Al Habsi's heroics in goal and Neymar's Assist and Goal were both worthy of the accolade.

If ever the Wigan faithful needed proof that bringing Neymar to the club was good business, then this debut was certainly a good start to repaying the belief shown in him.

Man of the Match - Shaun Maloney

Alfreton Town's

Season 1 Kit

Alfreton's season got a boost this morning when they announced a new kit deal with 'Nike' and new sponsor deal with the makers of Call Of Duty. Both have agreed terms with Alfreton on a 1 year deal, with the option of increasing that to a extra 2 years providing we finish in the top 10 this season.

Here is the new 'Season 1 Kit'

seasonkit_zpsf7794387.jpg

New kit is now for sale at the club official website for £19.99 per shirt.

Call Of Duty Spokesman

We are very happy to be sponsoring Alfreton. They have the right attitude about football. Having brought in Veigas as new manager and a couple of signings in the likes of Keane and Lingard, they are showing that the they are moving forward but also looking at the future. This is a short term deal we have agreed but we are all confident that they will achieve their target, I think really next season will be Alfreton's choice as I'm sure they will have more offers. Think that is why they only wanted a 1 year deal, so we said 'ok, in that case we will only externd should you finish 10th or higher'. We are all happy with the final agreement.

Chester FC 3v1 Aldershot Town

Andy Burr was unable to prevent a Aldershot Town defeat to Chester FC.

Aldershot Town slumped to a 3 - 1 defeat to Chester FC in their Division 5 fixture.

Townsend was on the scoresheet for his side.

Another disappointing display from Andy Burr's Aldershot with only 2 shots AGAIN on target!

Andy Burr after the game:

My "B" defense were abysmal, my ramshackle midfield couldnt create...its a wonder we even got a goal

Well done to Chestnuts, fully deserved victory

Now finally...some home games

After the defeat, which as left Alderstot 13th in the table, has caused some concerns for fans.

Spokesperson Jeremy Paxman:

We are definitely a little concerned with the lack of efforts on target we've had. We also understand the team needs time to gel....but really, four shots on target in two games is simply not good enough. We need MORE passion I say, more bloomin PASSION

2442956.jpg?type=articleLandscape

Paxman aint happy

The Shot's now have three games at home in a row, an will be hoping to get their promotion push back on track against Forest Green on Thursday night..if not..The Rising Phoenix could quickly become a Burnt Sparrow.

Re: English Championship 28697 - Match Reports,Transfer news etc.

Division 5, Turn 2 Preview

Here we are again then, the third game in six days for the teams of this Division and things couldn't be tighter. As I've already established; 23 out of 24 teams are off the mark already and so it seems just about everyone is giving it their all. Two teams prepare to fight for their 100% records whilst seven more remain unbeaten.

This Turn, I've decided to look at AFC Barrow in a little more detail. Their manager, Kris Iankov, has been able to celebrate a positive start to his reign and the club's season - with 4 points and an unbeaten record they now hold one of the early play-off places. So can they make it stick?

My thoughts... Yes. But to an extent.

Barrow have a big squad, 31 in numbers at the moment and this gives them a strong advantage over many other clubs who have turned to different transfer tactics. Barrow's squad is not the youngest, but many of their players will begin entering their prime soon and so a rise in attributes and value can only be expected. Top this off with their lower fees than the youngsters and Iankov has been able to sign plenty of them.

But this is where the real advantage comes in... a strong, balanced squad like this in three game weeks will really benefit where others will struggle with fatigue and a lack of cover.

As for tonight, well lucky for them this is right in the middle of a three game week - unlucky for them is that they take on the freescoring leaders Hyde.

After playing Barrow last night in a friendly, it was hard to guess how they might get on to be honest. Playing a Grimsby side without fatigue to worry about, this was not their opponents at their weakest meaning they were not at their strongest. Unlike on Tuesday when they took on the thinner squad of Kidderminster and managed to dominate on possesion and grab a late winner.

However, despite losing to my Grimsby, they shared possession and chances well which certainly is convincing. But sadly, if you can concede three to the club second from bottom how are you going to keep out a side who have already scored 10 goals this season?

Hyde vs Barrow AFC

Players to watch: Spencer (Hyde, 5 goals), Zhukov (Barrow AFC, new loan signing from Nottingham Forest - could make his debut today).

I expect goals here to be frank. A back and forth in which no one team will be able to take a convincing lead or hold of the game.

Coventry didn't want to draw this game and quickly attacked straight off the kick off with Bueno flicking a ball towards goal but it only found the hands of Starke. They took lead just five minutes after the game going level with Bueno this time sending Garritano through who somehow hit it passed Starke. Which could of ended the game Bueno had the a great chance to make it 3-1 but Starke made a great save.

Coventry started the second half how they ended the first half with Garcia smashing the ball off the post. Brentford had there first chance since scoring there goal with Van Der Struijk sending in a high cross into the box finding the head of Filkor who had beat the keeper but also beat the goal. Filkor and Van Der Struijk were involved in the action with Filkor sending in a corner which found the head of Van Der Struijk who couldn't keep his header down. Brentford had another corner this time the ball fell to Chyzhov who could only head it backwards and out of the box his center back partner Lomban drove a volley straight into the top corner to draw it level.
