BREAKING NEWS

Lewis to Step Down as Steaua Bucureşti Manager

After leading Steaua to a record fourth successive Central European championship and a fifth Central European Shield, the club has announced that long time manager, Chris Lewis is to step down. It will be seen as an end of an era at the club, with a total of 16 honours in 7 seasons, which will probably never be matched. It is unsure as to why Lewis has chosen this moment to step down, but rumours believe that after defeat in the SMFA Champions Cup semi final to Lyon; Lewis felt that he had taken the club as far as he can.

In a press conference, Lewis hailed his current crop of players, thanked the fans for their continued support and the board for letting him transform the club to meet his vision.

Lewis said, 'I understand that we won the league in our first ever season and then did not regain it again until season 4, but immediate success was not the aim. A club like Steaua is more than just a flash in the pan and we have now proved it with a fourth successive league title and for a club with not the biggest budget to reach the semi final of the Champions League pays credit to ourselves as a team. There is a cracking youth team coming through, so I believe that this club can dominate Central Europe for many years to come and I know the board will not be rash in rushing to find a new boss.'

The success has been linked to Lewis' shrewd transfer dealings with only 2 of the original senior squad remaining from when Lewis took over. Notably, the signature of Gonzalo Bergessio who went on to fire 88 in goals in a 129 games. Fans have been saddened by the news, but are optimistic for the future, with calls for either a stand to be named after Lewis, or a statue to be made to honour his services.

Lewis' Honours:

4 Central European League Championships

5 Central European Shields

2 Central European Cups

2 Charity Shields

1 Central European League Championp Runner-up

2 Central European Shield Runner-ups

Re: Gold Championship 9 - Match reports / Transfers thread

Although i enjoy competing in this GC i never do transfers, or rarely.

Anyway, recently i have.

in comes:

Ruben Micael (88) AM

Parshivyuk (88) RB

With cash, Wilson and Eccelstone going the other way ! Got them from the Hartlepool manager who is building a british squad, if you have a good british prospect he will sell higher rated players to you for cash and them ! he built a great team, and is now going to build a one of a kind team on SM ! something you can help him with, and take advantage of :) He's not a mug, but what helps him helps you.

and finally, a deal im very happy with.

Zhirkov (92) Leaves CSKA for Portuguese International Coentrao (87) + Pienaar (90)
