Full Name: João Afonso Crispim

DoB: 09.02.1995

Born: Criciúma, Brazil

Position: 'Wheel' - Brazilian version of Defensive Midfielder

Current Club: Internacional (on loan from Novo Hamburgo until January 2014)

Currently contracted to Novo Hamburgo, João Afonso came to prominence during the under-18 Gauchão junior category, putting in some good performances and being earmarked as one of the team best youngsters.

He was invited to the International pre-season testing with the professional team in Jaragua do Sul in late 2011.

He joined Internacional on a loan deal in summer 2012, under the tutelage of coach Clemer, has continued to develop at an impressive rate, becoming of the star performers in Clemer's Junior side.

On 13/10/2013, João Afonso debuted in the professional team as a 75th minute sub as the team thrashed Nautico 4-1. In the short time he played well and was given his full debut in the next game, the 0-0 tie with Santos, in which he played the full 90'.

The good performance of the 'steering wheel' caused a big decision to be made before the big Gre-Nal clash. Would the youngster be thrown in against the rivals Gremio?. On Sunday (20th Oct), the teams served played out a 2-2 draw at the Centenario stadium, with João again playing the full 90'.

Due to the good performances in the professional team, in his three games, the player of 18 years should be purchased outright by International. Latest reports say Colorada are preparing an offer of £1 million to Novo Hamburgo, so that the club to ensure the "jewel" in the team in the coming seasons.
