Re: Official World Cup 2014 Thread

Spain's 30;

Casillas' date=' Reina, De Gea.

Ramos, Pique, [b']Albiol,[/b] Juanfran, Alba, Carvajal, Moreno, Azpilicueta, Javi Martinez.

Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Iniesta, Koke, Busquets, Cazorla, Iturraspe, Fabregas, Thiago, Mata, Silva.

Pedro, Navas, Diego Costa, Villa, Torres, Negredo, Llorente.

All those in bold I think won't make the final squad, however need to cut two more. Not seen enough of Iturraspe to comment on him and I think Costa, Negredo and Llorente are all very similar so one of them will be cut.

Has Nasri died or something? How is he not even on standby?

Also what has Sissoko shown this season to deserve to be in the squad over Schneiderlin?

Deschamps hasn't called him up because of his supposed attitude problem. Apparently he doesn't get on with a couple of people and sulks when he's on the bench. Considering the farce in the last two tournaments, I can understand why he hasn't been called up but Evra's just as bad as him.

..... :o

Strootman, Van Ginkel and Willems should be in this 11

Maher and Narsingh deserve a mention but their season was poor.

I expect Vorm, Fer, Kongolo, Verhaegh, Rekik, Wijnaldum and possibly Promes cut

C'mon Oranje!!!

and Mane :o Both should be ahead of Cavaleiro..

Imo' date=' these are the 7 to be cut, Eduardo, Antunes, Ricardo Costa, João Mário, Rafa, Vieirinha and Ivan Cavaleiro.[/quote']

I'd probably cut Rolando instead of Ricardo Cista, coz he can also play as RB / LB.

Strootman has a serious injury, mnate.

If Vidal recovers his form after his injury, I believe Holland will have a tough time qualifying for the next round.

In all honesty, they don't look stronger than Belgium. And if France have a better squad than Belgium, it's not by much.

Switzerland looks decent, but not as good as Belgium imo.

Spain's squad is only 2nd to Germany's, from my point of view.

However, if Spain are using that tiki taka borefest, I doubt it will work out for them, this time.

Andre Almeida can play as RB and LB, Ruben Amorim as right back and Veloso can play on the other side.. his versality isn't needed.. I would chose Rolando because he has experience playing in a 3 men defense and has experience playing alongside Bruno Alves in defense (if Pepe is rested, suspended, injured or moved forward to DM).

More important no Bruno Fernandes :(

I am more surprised that he stills in the u20 squad and didn't get yet a chance at u21..

Re: Official World Cup 2014 Thread

I do believe the German, Spanish, Dutch, and to some extent the Portuguese NT a reaping rewards from having their B teams in their league.

Look at the abundance of talent in their squads, especially Germany and Spain. Players like Draxler, Isco or Mata who might not make the final cut could walk into any other NT easily.

Thus, I am quite supportive of the B teams in England and perhaps Italy.

David Accam is in the Ghana 26' date=' I really hope he makes the cut!! :D[/quote']

As a Malmö fan, I sincerely hope not. Besides the fact he plays for HeIF, he's gonna cry wolf to the ref every time he loses the ball.

I tell you who I want to make the cut. Miiko Albornoz, who's been called up to Chile's provisional squad. It'd be awesome to see a Malmö player at the World Cup. :)

Yeah but come on, Accam's story is pretty incredible - it would be one hell of a journey if he made it to Brazil.

Re: Official World Cup 2014 Thread

Goalkeepers: Buffon (Juventus), Perin (Genoa), Sirigu (Paris Saint Germain) [reserve: Mirante (Parma)]

Defenders: Abate (Milan), Barzagli (Juventus), Bonucci (Juventus), Chiellini (Juventus), Darmian (Torino), De Sciglio (Milan), Maggio (Napoli), Paletta (Parma), Pasqual (Fiorentina), Ranocchia (Inter)

Midfielders: Aquilani (Fiorentina), Candreva (Lazio), De Rossi (Roma), Marchisio (Juventus), Montolivo (Milan), Motta (Paris Saint Germain), Parolo (Parma), Pirlo (Juventus), Romulo (Verona), Verratti (Paris Saint Germain)

Forwards: Balotelli (Milan), Cassano (Parma), Cerci (Torino), Destro (Roma), Immobile (Torino), Insigne (Napoli), Rossi (Fiorentina)

Here's the Italian team. I'll probably mostly talk about the Italian NT on the Serie A thread but I think I'll also come here :)

I really like how Prandelli picked players from Parma and Torino along with even Romulo which was quite the surprise.

WC 2014, I'll be supporting Italy and Holland :)
