Insider 11,470
Re: World Championship 1057 DAMICHON'S OPENER SUCCESSFUL Highly touted 18 year old Damian Ismodes is now an Espanyol player. Last week's signing subbed in at the 75th minute and showed lots of skill in last night's 2-0 victory over Blackburn at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. Recent acquisition Jonas Gutierrez gave Espanyol the lead at the restart, poking in a ball from Pablo Zabaleta, who got hurt a few instants later. Luis Garcia sealed the win in the 85th minute, on a great solo effort. The assist went to Clemente Rodriguez. TRANSFER MADNESS! No less than 10 deals were completed yesterday. Here is a summary of what went down. Martinez Angel TO Almeria Camara Fredson TO Almeria MOHA TO FC Basel David Garcia TO Politechnica VALDO to Partizan Belgrad LAfuente to Standard Linka FROM Wodzislaw Urko FROM Iraklis Altheer FROM Exelcior Bolanos FROM Barcelona Witsel FROM Standard Liege Torje FROM Politechnica Jovetic FROM Belgrade Caicedo FROM Basel Lamantia FROM Genoa Negredo FROM Almeria Some of these signings are major bonuses, of all the players gone, only Valdo has played for Espanyol this season, and the players brought in show a lot of potential. Negredo is a 22 year old phenomenal striker, Jovetic is an 18 year old Montenegran who has caught the attention of teams like Sao Paolo, Caicedo is a revelation at 18 for Basel and Torje and Witsel have both caught attention of major squads at 17 and 18 respectively. The expected lineup for Espanyol, when everyone healthy, is as follows. ---------------Kameni-------------- Zabaleta---Lacruz--Jarque---Rodriguez Rufete (Ismodes)-Biglia----Gutierrez --------Gourcuff (Riera)----------- ---Luis Garcia--Tamudo (Caicedo/Jovetic) DE LA PENA GOING TO ARGENTINA? A 7 million pound offer for Ivan De La Pena has come in from Argentina. Still no word on whether or not the Espanyol reject will have the offer accepted or not. TABLES With the win against Blackburn, Espanyol goes tops and takes over 1st spot on goal difference. Blackburn is close 2nd. Espanyol are 9 points clear of relegation, with a 4-0-1 record. As for individual honours, here are the players to watch. Luis Garcia : 5 goals (2nd), 3 MOM's (1st) Alberto Riera : 3 assists (12th) NEXT IN BARCELONA : GUADALAJARA 1st place Espanyol face Guadalajara in Barcelona wednesday. Chivas stand 16th, with two good players out injured. Espanyol's probable lineup : -------------------Kameni------------------- Lacruz--Marc Torrejon--Jarque---Rodriguez Rufete (Ismodes)--De La Pena--Gutierrez -------------Gourcuff (Riera)------------ ---------Luis Garcia----Jovetic (Tamudo/Caicedo) INJURIES / SUSPENSIONS Pablo Zabaleta - Bruised Shin (8 days) Lucas Biglia - Bruised Thigh (8 days)

TomOwen 8,151
Re: World Championship 1057 CSKA 5-2 FC Schalke 04 An easy win for the Russian team when they thrash German side Schalke 04 5-2 at the Dinamo Stadium. Goals came from Pablo Aimar (2), Yuri Zhirkov, Jo, and Luis Ricardinho sealed the game. Schalke managed to score two consolation goals by Ivan Rakitic and Zlatan Bajramovic. Goals: 25: GOAL!! - With a gaping goal from just yards out Pablo AIMAR thunders it into the net! 26: GOAL!! - The ball is played square to Ivan RAKITIC on the edge of the box who rasps home a screamer! 43: GOAL!! - A dangerous corner is whipped in and Yuri ZHIRKOV nods the ball home! 44: GOAL!! - JO finds himself in yards of space and he makes no mistake from 15 yards! 65: GOAL!! - Zlatan BAJRAMOVIC won't score an easier goal after a terrible back-pass falls short! 80: GOAL!! - Some excellent passing leaves Luís RICARDINHO clear on goal and he finishes with ease! 85: GOAL!! - Pablo AIMAR caresses in a curling shot! What technique! Man of the Match: Yuri Zhirkov. CSKA are currently on top of the table counting on goals scored but they are only 12th because of their terrible defense. Top Goalscorer: Vagner Love (8 Goals) (Top in the League) Top Assists: Jo (6 Assists) Most MoM: Vagner Love (4 MoMs) Highest Average Performance: Vagner Love (8.14)

Karthik reassured the fans that he knew what he was doing and asked the fans to look at Saviolas form for Madrid...Also it has been revealed that Diego asked the manager for the transfer so he could play in division 1 Saviola fits into the new look side that Karthik has created but Karthik hints there are still a few more transfers to go before he has finished rebuilding...
