Insider's quest for every possible Gold title

Recommended Posts

Rather than peppering the Official Gold Championships thread, my season reviews will instead come to this thread! This is my mission: Win every different honour available in a Gold Championship. It means managing a lot of teams, yes, but it’s not that much work seeing as most of my teams are from smaller countries who play a 20 or so game season, making games few and far between. Sometimes, I have the obvious favourites (Olympiakos, Shakhtar), but with most leagues I try to pick either an underdog or the team I prefer. With most teams, season 1 is a write-off and the aim is to start collecting titles from season 2 onwards. Most of my teams are extremely active and always willing to discuss transfers or loans (in or out). If you have teams in any of these GCs and want to discuss potential transfer activity, feel free to do so right here on this thread.

List of wanted honours (If there are any that I haven’t seen, let me know!):
(Green = honour won)
(Red = in progress)

Re: Insider's quest for every possible Gold title

Today's highlights:

-Leandro Castan (x2), Chadli, Yilmaz (x2), Luiz Adriano and Fernandinho all score to lead Shakhtar to a 7-1 win over Dnipro in the Charity Shield. This is my first Ukrainian Charity Shield!

-Kadlec, Ibisevic, Pirlo, Valbuna and Holebas all score in Olympiacos' 5-1 rout of Atromitos to defend their Greek Charity Shield. It's their 2nd in a row and my second.

-Mezut Ozil, Eden Hazard and Wayne Rooney goals in the first half were too much for Atletico, who fell 4-3 to Barcelona in the Charity Shield. Neymar (x2) and Schmelzer led the comeback, but Busquets' goal turned out to be the winner. I'm still looking for a Spanish Charity Shield.

-A fine game from two of my favourites, Diego Costa and Courtois, lead my good friend Kuldeep's Dundee past my Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup. Still looking for that one! Paulinho and Reinhartz scored for me in the 3-2 loss.

Even though Montpellier is consistently improving their squad and their results, it appears to be a question of time before star winger Santi Cazorla leaves for greener pastures. Originally acquired in a straight swap for Younes Belhanda (who returned to Montpellier this season after failed stints at Arsenal and Sunderland for 15 mil), the Spanish midfielder produced 35 goals in 37 games in the league; 37 goals in 39 games in all competitions. If Montpellier can hold on to Cazorla, however, they may be able to challenge Gareth Bale and Gonzalo Higuain’s very strong Paris SG squad. Nevertheless, Montpellier added an honour this season and are hoping to add more soon!

Re: Insider's quest for every possible Gold title

If you really want EVERY honour then it's worth getting into some of the older GCs, I'm in GC13 where there's a "Mediterranean" league (Porto, Fenerbache, Sporting CP, Panathinaikos, Benfica, Galatasaray etc) and I won the league with my Esteghlal one season (they're from Iran). So if you want a Mediterranean Cup / Shield in addition to a Portugese or Greek or Turkish one try that!

Also the early ones have "Eastern European" leagues (in place of Russian / Ukranian) "Central European" leagues (Romania / Switzerland / Austria etc) and there's a "Latin American" league in GC1 (Argentina / Brazil / Mexico / Columbia).

So if you want the full full set...a bit more work to be done lol :)

Will look into the regional ones after the individual countries are done. I never liked those leagues though, they aren't very realistic!

Heading into the last game of the season, there was only one way of grabbing the title: a win over Wolfsberger and a Mattersburg loss again Admira. Lica, Hosiner and Yakovlev all scored early for Vienna, but Wolfsberger talisman Jacobo Ynclan netter twice to force a nervous last 20. On the other end, Admira scored twice in the first half and didn’t concede. In the end, Austria Vienna held out for the epic League title. The tight ending somewhat made up for this season’s SMFA Shield failure, where they were eliminated from the group stages by a single goal after a solid effort.

Even with the league win, however, manager insider was not happy with his squad for leaving it so close. Most of the squad, including then-star strikers Pavel Yakovlev, Ilombe Mboyo and Philipp Hosiner as well as starting keeper Steve Mandanda have all been dispatched, as better replacements have come in. Expect big things next season!

After picking up a bottom of the league club midway through the season, Flora improved greatly under insider. With 2 wins, 2 draws and 7 losses before the manager switch, Flora were never going to be competitive. Since, this switch, however, Flora have grown and managed a record of 6 wins, 1 draw and no losses in domestic competition. They capped the season by beating league champions Kalju in the cup semi-finals and easily crushing Tammeka 4-0 in the final. Additionally, the club has about 28 million to spend on reinforcements. Anything less than a championship in Season 2 will be a disappointment.

In just about a perfect season, Queen’s Park won every competition in which they played. This includes big Cup wins against division 1 sides Hibernian (Semi-finals) and Aberdeen (Final). Making the victory that much sweeter is the knowledge that Aberdeen were Scottish Champions this season, a full 12 points ahead of favourites Celtic. This means Queen’s Park would likely be able to compete in division 1 right away…. So the obvious objective next season is a division 3 championship.

With 1 month left in the season, it didn’t look like much was going to come out of Tachira. They had built a lovely little squad, but there hadn’t been too many results yet. Maybe the Cup, which was about to start, but we were building towards next season. But then, December happened. 8 league wins in 8 league games later, and the stage was set for an epic finale on the first of January. A 2-1 win over Mineros de Guayana meant that Tachira were, in fact, Champions of Venezuela. In addition, wins over Caracas, Atletico VE and Anzoategui meant they were in the cup final, which they also won.

Their target next year is another league win, accompanied by a Shield win and a Charity Shield win.

Projected starting 11 (reinforcements still to come):

84 Padelli

83 Bressan – 83 Mbemba – 87 D’Ambrosio

87 Donati – 85 Geis – 85 Fischer – 85 Telles

That wasn’t the plan. This season was supposed to be a full rebuild for FC DAC, one of the weaker Slovakian sides. However, thanks to some timely wins (all by a small margin), they were able to run away with the league completely. This season, with a much better team, expect DAC to make a run for the Cup and the Shield as well, hopefully maintaining their spot at the top of the league. SMFA aspirations are limited, however.

Projected starting 11:

84 Padelli

Yeah, ok. This was an easy one. However, I love Olympique Lyonnais and couldn’t stand seeing them go down like this. When I took over, the team was a shell. Nothing good but cash. Lacazette, Umtiti, Gomis, Grenier… all gone. So the team was rebuilt, and as expected was dominant. Next season is the test here.
