Wigan Name New Coach On Long Term Deal!

Thursday 2nd Jan 2014 - Wigan News!

Today is a big day in the life of a Wigan fan, the ex EPL side who got relagated last season have managed to snap up young English coach Mattuie Beckett on a three year contract with the option of a fourth. The young coach who has won 74 cups since becoming a manager will fit in well said the chairman at a new conferance this morning he is getting the backing needed to prove himself, and we all hope he can show the world why he is so highly respecting in this neck of the woods. Beckett who has just come back to full time managing has said he hopes to make a quick impact with Wigan and is aiming to make them a big team again, he knowns what players he wants and how much they will cost one name already having a medical is England hot shot Rickie Lambert who is under going talks and a lot are saying with a name like Lambert joining and a coach like Beckett its only a matter of time before Wigan Athletic's find there way back to were they belong in the EPL.

Wigan Win First Two Outings!

Well the first two games have came and gone, and Wigan Athlletic's have won both of them with the opening league game against Brighton a 1-0 win thanks to Grant Holt and a league cup game against Huddersfield thanks to James Mcarthur manager Mattuie Beckett had this to say:

I am very impressed with how the squad has started the season, we have started strong and have a very strong back bone, I can only hope for the same from the boys this week as we play two teams who are strong.

Wigan's next outing comes up against Yeovil who won there first outing 3-1, manager Mattuie Beckett has said it will be a had game to win but we will do all we can to show the world why we will get promotion this season.

Fresh Blood At Wigan Athletic's!

In terms of signings so far this season Wigan went in hard to the summer spending with a net of just under 14.5 million leaving the club, but in terms of signings ex Real Madrid star Mahamadou Diarra and England striker Rickie Lambert have both joined the Championship side. Lambert who is set to get his debut this week and Diarra who is also set to get a outing have both said the world rate at this club will keep them in line for the world cup this season have also both said the manager was a key factor to them signing, Lambert has said he talked to the coach before signing and after hearing that the 2012-13 FA Cup winners was aiming to make it back to the EPL first time of asking and to put together a home grown squad over the next three seasons Lambert could not turn the chance down.
