^^^QUICK LINK^^^

The Story...April 13, 2029

It was April 13, 2029 when the Asteroid "Apophis" struck the Earth.

The population ran, but for most there was no escape!

Volcanoes erupted, massive storms raged, and billions died from exposure.

Only small pockets of people and animals survived, and it was estimated at the time, that only around 500 million people made it through the disaster. People who survived made it to underground shelters, the only places left where it was habitable to live.

Scientist's and engineer's proved their weight in gold, in making their existence as pleasant as possible. The food was bland, but the water and air was filtered clean. Everybody had a job, an everybody worked...that is what it took!

An this is how they survived...for the next 100 years!

Once the air was breathable again, the people returned to the surface to find their once beautiful homes, in ruins.

Over the next 50 years, the people prospered and reclaimed their lands from the plants and beasts that had infected it. It was a slow process, but humankind was restarting over.

BRITAIN 2180

With the populace recovering, an a economy getting stronger. People are once again starting to find hobbies, and play sport again.

Its now early 2180, and the new British FA have been established and along with it, a new British Championship of 20 teams.

There will be "Special" T-Shirts for those managers who last till the end of the competition (Season 10).

EDIT: Seasonal Prizes: I will be doing away with the T-Shirt's thing, as the company I was doing it with, dont like doing small orders. So in terms of last seasons prizes gave out, it will be 3500 Tokens for each competition (Both Div's winner's & Cup).

There will still be T-shirt's for the last standing still though.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Scoring System:

The GW will now have a scoring system, which will run for the first 10 seasons. Clubs points will be carried through season, after season. Everyclub will have 1 WILD CARD to play, but MUST play it before a season starts. A wild card will give you DOUBLE points for that entire season!

Manager's will need to PM me, BEFORE the first game of the season, to enable their WILD CARD.

After the competition is over, it will continue as a normal GW.

Scoring System

In Any circumstances of draw's, Points will be shared

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Risers League

Dates:

Season 3 start date: 12th Aug. End date:? TBA

The new Risers League has been added (start of season 3) to help maybe those who enjoy scouting, more than management, to gain those precious points.

Each team will collect points for each riser they have in a given season.

1 point per player rise.

+ The amount the player rises*

*Risers points will ONLY count from 70 (you will still score +1 from the rise if lower).

Example:

Player Rated 0 gets a +75 ratings boost. This will count only as 5 (5 above 70). It is funny, and somewhat cool to get these massive rises..but it would be stupid of me to allow it in this instance, as good scouting, or in my terms LUCK, should get you the points in the Risers League.

The Risers League will run from the first day of a season, to the last. Which means the leaderboard will be finalised AFTER the current season. So in a sense, these points will be whicheverway you look at it..your last pts of the season..or your first.

The Points

1st - 25pts

2nd - 20pts

3rd - 17pts

4th - 15pts

5th - 14pts

6th - 13pts

7th - 12pts

8th - 11pts

9th - 10pts

10th - 9pts

11th - 7pts

12th - 6pts

13th - 5pts

14th - 4pts

15th - 3pts

16th - 2pts

17th - 1pts

18th - 0pts

19th - 0pts

20th - 0pts

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

First of all' date=' thanks for reply Pedro :)

Yeah mate I had chat to Matt too, but not about the numbers. It was about the signing cap and other things. Ive been scratching my head over it for couple of days.

I'd change it for the first season to 75, it was one of my first thoughts mate. But to be honest bud, it wouldnt be hard enough for me.

I just wanted a GW where you build the club up from the root's (literally), an there doesnt seem to be one out there (probably a reason for that lol).

Ideally for me, it would be season 1 - 70, season 2 - 71, season 3 - 72 an so on ;). where riser's make the real difference, an a long fought out history.

I think i'll bin this idea, there's no interest...regrettably :([/quote']

I like this idea, for me personally I enjoy the lower rated leagues as it brings another scouting aspect of trying to find unearthed gems and I wish there were more around like this.

I do not mind having the rating cap starting off at 70 for the reason above and also represents a really challenge to build a successful club from the bottom up.

Do not be so rash into binning the idea mate, give it a couple of days then make a decision based on progress.

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

Nice one! Another this type of setup. I love this type of setup. I've been in GBL and Rags to Riches for long time, and anyone there can see me as loyal manager, which absolutely a must in this kind of setup. I also feel the signing cap rules and its increasement every season is balanced so it makes it very interesting setup for me.

I'm worried though. I think you need a lot of managers and honestly i don't think there are too much people in this forum who currently capable to be in this long term setup like this. It's either experienced forum who are loyal don't want to take this kind of setup anymore or it's just some random forumer(or could be well 'reputated' forumer) who are just not patient enough when they don't have Gotze/Neymar on their team.

Personally i suggest you to cut down the numbers to 8/10

Thanks mate, I'll give it a little more time. It's my first attempt, so im treading water..so to speak :) Any ideas about the buying cap or what they should be per seasons?

Do not give up hope yet mate. It takes time to fill a set up and I would strongly suggest you perhaps PM forumers who like there customs to read through this concept and get there input.

Always best to bounce ideas around with potential managers once the blue print is in place.

Will message some around mate' date=' just wanted to see if there was any general interest first, and of course, if anyone could see if there was any future problems...

Would really value any thoughts you have...been thinking about 2 divisions. Would be cool if you could set different rules for different leagues (like div1 can sign 72 rated season 1).

Would be great to have you on board mate, your def one of the most loyal managers around :) Rags to Riches is my fav custom, an I wanted another LONG term project...if you know what I mean.

Maybe I should cut it down in size...I'll just wait a few days, an see from there.

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

I'm in, i like the idea as it is posted in the 1st post.

Only thing is cutting down the number of teams, to at very most 12, or even 10 or 8 depending on interest, and especially the reliable managers interest ;)

(i've come to start hating building teams all the time for new GWs and then managers quit and the GW dies after 1-2 seasons, it's becoming very frustrating and it's the main thing that bothers me in SM)

The only way you could have different divisions buying players of different ratings is if you stipulated it in the rules in your firs post.

I do agree that it should be a set up kept as a small affair with a maximum of 12 teams which could give you the option of 2 leagues of 8 or obviously 1 league of 16. Anything less will have to be 1 division.

Sweet one mate :) First manager declared, an top one at that!

Yeah, it is ridiculous the amount of people who quit. Its as if they think they can escape an do better elsewhere, an they do get noticed...guess its the troll age! Obviously some managers have genuine reasons or...excuses :P

Nice dude. Good to have you back in :)

You do realise with this set-up though mate...that:

You'll never have Messi or Ronaldo in your team.

Your team will most likely be skint half the time.

You'll be doing most your transfer activity in the bargain bin.

If you do, great :) Your ideal for the job. Let me know ;)

EDIT: Posted a poll in Misc section for Transfer policy. Also link in 1st post. would be great if your reading this, if you could get an opinion :)

Would like to keep it all in that thread, just so its easier to find...if/when i need it ;)

Not sure where my original post went? I swear I posted it?

But just in anyone missed it, thought it would be a good idea to turn off cash only deals after a certain point to increase managerial interaction.

Also happy with the current standard of purchasing caps though we could increase first season to 72 to increase flexibility and scope for criteria.

Originally posted an upgraded season purchasing schedule which I think was accelerated a bit too much and with such a small league it would quickly escalate away from the current idea:

I think, this would be good and a viable option:

Season 1: 72

Season 2: 74

Season 3: 76

Season 4: 78

Season 5: 80

I think this would make sure that the gw stays true to its original idea of starting at the bottom of the barrell and to pro-long the journey/rise of the clubs fortunes but also not discourage any members who want to a gw for risers and talent scouting

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

I'm one of the few that is still in Rags to Riches like Gozzy, so I would obviously be loyal but I don't like the rules.

I believe there should be no restrictions on the ratings of players you buy.:D

Where is the reward for those who buy best? They cannot go out and buy better players can they? Even after 1, maybe 2 seasons, everyone will be left with a lot of cash and bidding the maximum they can on low rated players.

Teams do not develop so slowly that by the 3rd season, they are still only buying players around 75.

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

I think that if all teams start with little money, there won't be a need for rating caps. Noone would be able to start buying good players anyway.

And, with time, the managers, who scout better players, would end up building better squads, which would reward their work. :)

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

Nice idea ' date=' i'm interesed to join this GW
:)

But i think 20 clubs is too much , considering that there aren't many good 70/72 players.

So , in my opinion 75 is a fair cap for the first seson :)[/center']

Thanks. Would gladly have you mate :)

Please vote on the ratings cap. I will go with the majority :)

The thing is, Its too easy to turn a div5 team into a powerful team in 3 seasons (look at yours in RTR). Ive turned Aldershot in 28697 from a 73 avg first team, into an 85 in a season an half. Thats in a VERY competitive league too!

The concept is mate, all the professional footballer's are dead. Football of yesteryear are only pictures in magazines. So it's grass roots, Sunday league style :)

An obviously players will get better an better, well if you sign the right ones :)

stick me down for this one

Awesome buddy' date=' always need someone with a sense of humour :D

Any chance Worcester City can be one of the teams? My friend is desperate to manage them, they're his home town club.

Would if I could but I cant mate. Only goes down to the 5th tier or the 5th tier on SM.

I think that if all teams start with little money' date=' there won't be a need for rating caps. Noone would be able to start buying good players anyway.

And, with time, the managers, who scout better players, would end up building better squads, which would reward their work. :)[/quote']

As I said before mate, the caps are to go with the concept. Just imagine all the players above 70 are dead. So in effect they're the best in the world :P

And' date=' with time, the managers, who scout better players, would end up building better squads, which would reward their work. :)[/quote']

Mate, the manager's who scout the best players will have the best squads, with risers.

Picture this setting, Im pretty sure we've all done this....

-Very start of Season 1. Buy 10, 75 rated Free-agents for £1.8M. Nice :)

-Soon as the TB's come off, you sell them for £6.5M.

-Rinse and repeat, an by the end of season 2, you have a very good 88 avg squad.

Too easy mate. I want something thats gonna challenge people and myself...scouting wise, an tactically..these will be the one's who will benefit :)

I want to make this the hardest, an most challenging on SM. I will go with the consensus of what transfer cap's will be...but there's got to be one. Otherwise I would of called it "Little house on the prairie" ;)

Re: ARMAGEDDON...The Rise From The Ashes...

The clubs will be small, transfer budget should be small so a normal economy would also still not be enough to allow clubs to be financially affluent so poor economy could become a huge struggle which could ultimately lead to managers quitting.

There are plenty financial stipulations that could/will be implemented that will make things tough enough on top of the clubs being small.

Thanks mate.

Whats the economy on Rags to Riches?

Clubs will start with around £2M (as you know).

Maybe I'll upgrade the economy, every season? So by season 4, it will be super rich? I think there's that?

Maybe I should change the teams to bigger clubs? Not Man utd's, but maybe Leicester's ? That should be better. Plus there's still Europe :P
