Re: Gc 423

Round 1 in the Serie A tonight and manager Alos Rothnie is all set for his game in charge of Torino. Coming up against Parma at home in their opening fixture, Torino have enjoyed a successful pre-season with Rothnie, taking 4 wins from 4 against FC Metz, Aris, Frankfurt and Sport Recife. Only 1 of 3 new signings are expected to start in the form of Nampalys Mendy, as Matt Ryan is out because of fitness issues and Pablo Insua is unlikely to make the 18 man squad. Rumours of a Manolo Gabbiadini switch from rivals Sampdoria have persisted over the last few days, but Rothnie refused to comment on speculation.

Re: Rise of Torino | GC 423

1st game and a 1st win for Rothnie and Torino. The victory came in the form of a 3-2 triumph over Parma, who will probably feel disappointed to not come away with a point. The first half was a deadlock ending at 0-0, but the scoring was opened very quickly after the restart as Napoli loanee Omar El Kaddouri put Torino 1 up. Parm didn't take long to respond as Nicola Pozzi levelled the scores up 5 minutes later in the 53rd minute. The game remained at 1-1 until the 76th minute, when new signing and debutant Nampalys Mendy restored Torino's lead. Just 4 minutes later one of the hottest properties in Europe, Ciro Immobile, looked to have sealed the points as he added a third for Torino. However it wasn't quite over as 60 seconds later Antonio Cassanio brought the deficit back to just a goal. It wasn't enough however and on the final whistle it was the home side celebrating the 3 points. The win puts Torino in 5th spot, a position manager Rothnie is hoping to hold for the rest of the season.

Re: Rise of Torino | GC 423

Exciting news coming out of the Torino camp, as it has been confirmed a 15m deal for Manolo Gabbiadini has been accepted by rivals Sampdoria. Despite such a hefty price being payed by the Turin club, it is understood Rothnie is intent on adding youth to his ageing squad, as he expands his already feared forward line that boasts the likes of Ciro Immobile and Alessio Cerci. Gabbiadini is likely to receive mixed feelings upon his arrival, but as long as he brings goals, the Il Toro will hold no grudge against him.
