Unsure how my team compares to others but I expect to be competitive. Happy with the amount of players who are still regulars. Totti, Wade, Berre, Tavano, Comotto and Hill, who I hope will rise. Jorgensen 80 and Govou 78 on the bench so far. Will probably bring in a defender too. I dont feel an 84 gk will necessarily outperform a 78 gk, so I spent about 300k on Wright. GK's ratings are too random, little to do with rating. Either they perform okay or atrociously, letting in every shot.

Re: 35+

Pretty happy with my team but the proof will be when the season kicks off going to be a long week waiting for the opening day.

Yeah Ive got a feeling Cordoba will drop and retire now that Ive brought attention to him :( I did think about being quiet regarding him but it was so ridiculous it needed pointing out to show how cack SW is

I did look at Cordoba I have bad memories of him destroying my socceroos in world cup qualifiers in 2006 and 2010. He also a free kick specialist so could be lethal :P

Someone got it looked at as he's now retiring :(

Oh well at least he shouldn't drop for the season so I will get back roughly what I paid for him.

New I was shooting myself in the foot bringing it to peoples attention. In hindsight it would have been more interesting to keep quiet but monitor how much longer it took for him to finally get noticed.

Someone here must've submitted report to SW to make him retired :P

Re: 35+

Season 1 preview

Below is my preview for season 1 in the same spirit as I (or Tranmere) do in 87+. This is merely for fun and should not be taken too seriously, so If you feel I have criticised your team unfairly it was not with malicious intent :P hope you enjoy :)

Army United are still in breach of the 30 player rule at the moment and need to sign 1 more player before the season starts. Those on 30 players exactly should think about signing 1 or 2 more in case they go into debt so if they have to sell they will remain above 30 players.

Good luck everyone in the first 35+ season ever!!!!

Division 1

Defence Force

Strengths: Star player Tymoshuk with decent support around him. 12 players make up the meat of their first team squad so there is slight room to rotate and deal with the odd injury or suspension. A decent second team to try and make a cup run.

Weakness: Failed to bring in a striker of any note. With only 0.5m left in the bank they will struggle to bring in someone who can deliver the goods up front leaving them heavily reliant on a 75 at the moment.

Total players: 36

Total wages: £243,220

Moroka Swallows

Strengths: No real stars as such but a decent first team squad of players rated 80 or above. Managed to bring in the big man Heskey to try and fire them to glory. A strong second team that could go far in the cup. 2m left in the bank should prove handy to fill a hole once it appears.

Weakness: No star players to look to for big match performances. Questionable spending policy of spending 4.5m on Heskey considering his rating and sell on value could leave them week in other areas.

Total players: 38

Total wages: £250,345

Tractor Club

Strengths: Star player and general superstar of the GW, Buffon as well as Pizarro. 11 players rated 81 or above. An OK second team that could make a noise in the cup. With a player Of Buffon's calibre in the side they will be looking for silverware straight away!

Weakness: Spent over a third of their budget on Buffon which might leave them a little light in quality throughout the rest of the team.

Total players: 31

Total wages: £270,425

Golden Arrows

Strengths: Star player Schwarzer in goal should keep things tight at the back with an impressive team to play along side him - all rated 85. Favourites to win the title should all there players stay available for selection.

Weakness: lack of first team squad depth will leave them paling 73's instead of 85's should first team players become unavailable. Weak second team leaves them unlikely to make much headway in the cup.

Total players: 31

Total wages: £247,535

The Strongest

Strengths: Star players Katsouranis and Biava along with good first team depth of 18 players rated 79 or above. Good squad depth to cope with absentees and as well as making a serious attempt at winning the cup. Perhaps the best squad depth in the GW and as such playing a dirty game with aggressive tackling could leave them on top against some of their rivals!

Weakness: The strength of depth comes at the slight cost of quality to the first team.

Total players: 38

Total wages: £264,405

Army United FC

Strengths: Star players Henry and Lucio with some decent players in support. They have the lowest total wage which will help financially in trying to bring in new talent down the line.

Weakness: Two players rated 75 or below will get a run out each game as the first team is lacking in numbers. This has a knock on effect that will weaken the second team and might hamper their cup chances. Are currently in breach of the 30 player rule and will face a ban if another player is not brought in before the first game of the season.

Total players: 29

Total wages: £196,285

Tarxien Rainbows

Strengths: Star Player SM legend Oscar Cordoba in goal should provide a solid foundation from which the rest of the team can build from. 16 players rated 80 or above gives decent backup should squad rotation be needed.

Weakness: The money has been spread meaning quality is a little thin. Little cup chance with with the quality of the second team. A loose lipped manager that as meant his star player has decided to retire only a few days after signing.

Total players: 36

Total wages: £283,455

Sunshine Stars

Strengths: star players Helton and Abriel plus 8 others rated 80 or above. 1.8m left in the bank to bring in another first teamer to make the eleven so as not to rely on 75's. good second team should fair well in the cup.

weakness: Only 10 players rated above 80 at the moment leaves a weakness not only in the starting eleven but also if suspensions and injures build up. Whilst they have a solid GK to keep goals out one end they look light up front relying on Felipe an 81.

Total players: 30

Total wages: £251,685

Viking FK

Strengths: Sizable but perhaps wise money spent on star play Drogba as well as a thrifty purchase of other star man Zyryanov as well as 8 others all rated 82 or above. 3.6m in the bank still leaves options to either bring in one more quality player or spread between 2 or 3 for squad depth. A good second string too also gives them cause for optimism in the cup.

Weakness: Whilst 7.7m on Drogba isn't a huge outlay it is still a sizeable one and with his hefty wage on top success will be expected sooner rather than later. With him goals should flow but its come at the cost of a solid looking defence. They still need an 11th man for the first team or will be relying on 75's.

Total players: 30

Total wages: £298,655

Warri Wolves

Strengths: Star players Marquez, Roberto and Karagounis give hope for a promising season ahead. 12 Players rated 80 or above means they have flexibility in picking a team. With 5.3m left in the bank they still have a large chunk of their money still available to add the finishing touches to the solid foundation already in place.

Weakness: 5 of their notable 12 are only rated 80 and no out and out striker above 80 could leave them really struggling to get goals and ultimately put points on the board. Despite good depth for the first team the second team looks weak and is unlikely to cause upsets in the cup.

Total players: 32

Total wages: £248,250

Division 2

United FC

Strengths: Star players Barbosa and Silva with 12 players rated 80 or above in total. An OK second team means they could put up a fight in the cup.

Weakness: Their defence might be there downfall and will be relying on their strikers to keep banging in the goals as goals are likely to flow at both ends.

Total players: 32

Total wages: £234,870

Ottawa Fury

Strengths: Star players Sorlin and Speroni form their foundation. Good squad depth should mean they will be one of the favourites for the cups and good prove vital in the league as the season wears on.

Weakness: Their strength in depth has come at the cost of quality in the first team with only 3 players rated above 82. Question marks remain over the acquisition of Paul Lopes as they now have 2 GK's amongst their best 5 players at the club. They have the largest wage bill of any team which might hamper their efforts to bring in new recruits in the future.

Total players: 39

Total wages: £317,820

Rochester Rhinos

Strengths: Star players Del Piero, Daems and Portanova leave them looking strong up front and in defence. Decent players to help make up first team and a Good second team should give them cup ambitions. Still 1.8m in the Bank to get at least 1 more player in to make up the starting eleven if desired.

Weakness: Only 10 players currently rated over 75 could leave them with a weak link in the chain. If players become unavailable they could struggle unless the star players really shine.

Total players: 30

Total wages: £248,385

Police United

Strengths: In Star players Lampard, Pizarro and Yepes they have three of the highest rated players of any of the teams involved as well as another star player Pinto in goal. A lot will be expected of these players but should they click they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Weakness: Big outlays on their star players has inevitably caused weakness' else where and as such they have only managed to bring in 6 players rated above 74. With such investment in star players you would expect silverware challenges as a must but it looks a hard task on paper given the rest of the squad. Little quality in the second team leaves them looking firmly at the league. Should they manage promotion Gozzys craziness in the transfer market will look genius but should they fail he will just look crazy.

Total players: 30

Total wages: £248,160

Dolphins FC

Strengths: They can boast no less than 5 star players amongst their ranks including excellent shot stopper Howard in goal as well as arguably the deadliest strike force out there at the moment in Olic and Toni along with 11 players overall rated 80 or above.

Weakness: 3 of there starting 11 are only 80 rated and leave them looking a little light in the middle of the park. No notable second team to talk of leaves them looking to the league for glory.

Total players: 31

Total wages: £301,625

Naxxar Lions

Strengths: 3 star players in Klose, Modesto and Friedel. With big money spent on the talent of Klose goals should not be a problem. 9 players rated 80 or above. Fairly solid in defence and in Goal.

Weakness: Big money spent on Klose and it seems to have cost them slightly in depth as 3 of their starting players will be rated less than 80. A weakish second team leaves them unlikely to worry opposition in the cup. Somewhat weak in the middle of the park could leave them struggling to give opportunities to Star striker Klose.

Total players: 32

Total wages: £273,010

Village United

Strengths: Star player Di Natale should bring plenty of goals whilst being complemented by no less than 13 other players rated 80 or above. Plenty of options and backup at the managers disposal from one of the best squad depth teams in the GW.

Weakness: Squad depth has come at a price and thats quality. Whilst theres no denying Di Natales pedigree whether the rest of the team can step up to the mark is yet to be seen. A somewhat weak second side overall but with the odd 80 rated player likely to be able

to get a run out. Doubtfull to go far in the cup but with a bit of luck they could cause an upset or two along the way.

Total players: 34

Total wages: £276,270

Air Force AVIA

Strength: Fans of the club can look forward to seeing 5 star players running out for them this season with a solid back line of Carvalho, Distin and Lucarelli along with Sorrentino in Goal looking a formidable task to overcome.

Weakness: Where the strengths end the weakness' really do begin with only 6 players rated 80 or above in the squad. 5 players will also have to make the field of play with ratings likely to be chosen from 73-78. With the first team struggling for depth in quality it will come as no surprise that the second team will likely be making up the numbers in the cup.

Total players: 32

Total wages: £242,730

ABC

Strengths: Star player Totti has been brought in to lead them to promotion by firing in the goals himself. 10 players overall rated 80 or above. 3.2m left in the bank gives the manager options as to wether they should bring in another star player of go for depth. three 78's to help boost squad depth

Weakness: Whilst not all the money has been spent they look a little light in quality and will be heavily relying on Totti to deliver the goods. A somewhat weak second team but with the 78's and money left this could improve though fans should keep there money in their pocket rather chance a bet on them.

Total players: 33

Total wages: £242,975

Deportivo Wanka

Strengths: Star player Storari in goal as well as a balanced first eleven stands them in good stead for the season. 11 players overall rated 83 and above. Whilst no stars up front they are hardly lacking either and should get their fair share of goals. A good second team should give them hope of doing something in the cup too. 800k left in the bank could prove useful in bringing in one more player to help the first team.

Weakness: despite having a well rounded first team and good second team there is little squad depth to call upon for the first team should it be needed. If a 83 or above goes missing a 75 will have to be called upon.

Total players: 40

Total wages: £302,210

Re: 35+

Great write up. I will be happy if I do not end up bottom lol.

Yeah I admit I have spent quite a bit on marquee signings, leaving a gap in ratings among the top 20 players. I am trying something different, but in no way spoiling the club.

I am quite concerned on the wage bill as well, of course in general if you get more players you have a higher wage bill on top of the total amount spent. And while you can sell those extra players later on, the cost due to their wages could hurt financially. Very interesting on how each manager/team sets out and how will they fare.

Quality vs depth

Wages vs selling profit

All the best! :)

Re: 35+

Laura V steered Deportivo Wanka to victory against Ottawa Fury.

Deportivo Wanka outclassed Ottawa Fury and beat them 3 - 1 in their Division 2 fixture.

Fauré scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Gudjohnsen and Bogdani were also amongst the goalscorers.

Woohoo, first victory! :D

Great dominance in possession, happy with this result.

Also, first injury.....

These old men need to toughen up!!

I didn't anticipate to everyone being injured all the time :P
